Yuudai woke up at the sound of a banging on his door, it was odd. Why would Gramps let someone in to knock on my door? The noise stopped and Yuudai slowly sat up in bed, the morning grog hitting him, almost knocking him straight back down. The genin sighed, pushing himself out of bed, before swinging his door open. "What?" He called out, only realizing after he said it that no one was there, all that was was a small box and a letter, after blinking a few times, Yuudai took the items before kicking his door shut, can't he just go back to bed?

The Genin opened the letter and was quite surprised it was from the lord of the village Enju came from. Kusagakure. He read the contents as a grin formed upon his lips, growing wider and wider. It didn't take long for the boy to get his gear and shinobi outfit on, nor did it take long for him to gather things for basic hygiene. From Kumo to Nohara, it's gonna take a while, so I better move it! The Ryujin took and tied the green cloth onto his arm. Without even thinking about it, the Ryujin raced as fast as he could move to the destination.

After a great while, days even, Yuudai finally made it to Nohara, rereading the letter and map, Yuudai narrowed his eyes. Something red... something red. He pocketed the letter and looked for the closest village to his location. Showa! With a destination locked and a little leg work needed, the boy eagerly went ahead towards the village of Showa. Don't cause trouble, don't talk unless talked to, look for red. Once Yuudai finished his mental checklist, all on his mind was red... not blood but the color. It was time for the Genin to race his ass off, how much time did he have left?

It was time for Yuudai to begin his journey through Nohara no Kuni, and unlike his other compatriot from Kumogakure, the young Ryujin decided to begin in Shōwa, Nishigō's sister village. It would be around mid-morning when Yuudai arrived, so the villagers were already up and about their business, with most working in the orchards and fields, and a healthy amount moving towards the river to work the watermills. Even from a distance, it would be easy for Yuudai to see the dots of red on the trees out in the fields, different types of fruit trees being carefully attended to by the people of Nohara no Kuni. He could choose to start his investigation there, or perhaps his curiosity would lead him to the watermills instead, where there might be some less obvious red things to find.

Regardless of what the genin chose, there was no chance that he'd not spot and be spotted by a patrol of footmen, ashigaru they were known as in this land. Their armor and weapon varied somewhat, but they all wore the same emblem and appeared unified in their purpose. But for the most part, they would simply note the armband that the Ryujin wore and continue on their way.

Scanning the area for quite literally a color,the Kumogakure Genin spotted specks of red in some distal fields. There are people already out and about, either taking care of their wares or doing the manual tasks of taking care of the land. He was already short on his mental clock, and to keep in line, the most optimal place is to check out where the color was easily available. There's almost always a chance the boy was in the wrong. These were the exams, nothing was simple as it is but if Yamato's letter held truth, he only had today and tomorrow to look for it.

Then again, he did mention shinobi were always watching him, Yuudai felt like he needed to put on a show to appease them. Shaking his head, Yuudai moved to head to the dots of red in the distance, well, that was the problem before he saw a patrol of footmen, and they definitely saw him. Shit, there goes my shot of getting some early searching! The boy feigned a smile before nodding at the men, taking off over towards the red. Aside from possible fruits, Yuudai was uncertain what he was going to find.

What was certain was him running to obsessively search for the color.

As Yuudai approached the orchards, he'd be able to get a better look of the people working them. Their ages varied from young adults to old geezers, but they all seemed healthy and well fed. They worked at a comfortable pace, harvesting fruits that seemed to be ripe, while spending some time picking or chasing off any pests that hassled the plants. If he continued searching, the genin would eventually come across a fairly mundane sight: a young girl crying at the base of one of the cherry trees. A quick look upwards would reveal the source of her anguish. In the branches above was a rather fat calico cat, looking down at the girl rather annoyedly, its tail flicking from side to side.

Yuudai could choose to help the girl out of his own volition, but if he didn't, another person would come along, obviously drawn by the cries of the girl. He seemed to be a middle aged man with a clean-shaven face, a big straw hat atop his head. He was quick to spot the cat up in the trees, chuckling to himself before patting the girl on the head. The genin didn't escape his gaze either, especially the bright green cloth band around his arm. He'd lazily gesture for the genin to help out, talking in a drawl that only a farmer could have.

"Say, why dontcha snag that cat outta that tree fer me, eh? I'll give ya sometin' nice in return, whattya say?"

Approaching the red of the fields, Yuudai frowned when it affirmed his thoughts of being an unimportant orchard. There was definitely a lot of people working though, enough for the Genin to believe there was a dictatorship or a socialist economy going on. Maybe the Daimyō was a Shogūn, would definitely explain those uniformed men... Wait... Does Nohara have Samurai?! The Genin instantly felt a sense of fear creeping over him. It was likely all in his head but IF it was true, maybe Yuudai had a new enemy. He remembered at some point in time, along with the Warring States, there were mercenary groups incapable of nin, gen, or fūinjutsu, but their Bukijutu skills were legendary. They despised shinobi for their use of chakra and ninjutsu. Separate ideals also beget a dislike but the Ryujin didn't believe that they could have survived and ended up here. Still, he was on edge now, more than ever.

Upon some further wandering, the Ryujin found a little girl crying, perplexed, he inspected closer on what may have caused this, and to no surprise, it seemed like a pet was up in the tree. Yuudai looked back at the girl, then to the fat cat, and back, and now to a mystery figure. Yuudai watched painfully as he spoke in the most cockney accent Japanese allowed and the boy wanted to jab sticks in his ears. "I'm getting the cat for the girl." If things went as smoothly as he hoped, the boy would run up the tree before jumping to grab the fat cat.

It was fat, it had to be slow. Regardless, if he was successful, he would clear the branch before landing and putting the cat, holding it out to the little girl. If he wasn't, he'd try to grab the branch to swing himself under before kneeling upside down on the branch, trying to figure out how to bet catch a fat yet nimble paradox.

Aligning up perfectly with its appearance, the cat did nothing as Yuudai ran up the length of the tree, remaining still as he scooped it up and handed it to the girl. The feline seemed to be more or less annoyedly resigned to its fate, getting carried away by the now placated girl. The straw-hatted man nodded a few times in approval, grunting affirmatively before waving the genin over.

"Good... good... c'mere. Ain't that nice? Helpin' people, and sometimes... they'll help ya right back, but that's not why ya should do it, hm?"

The man led the way to a nearby handcart, filled to the brim with an assortment of boxes and jars. Yuudai might have found it strange just how well prepared this stranger was for this particular scenario, especially when he picked out what seemed to be a prepared box, handing it to the genin before leaning back against his cart.

"I've been told that ya should hold onto what's in that there box until ya really need it. Not that ya have to, mind ya."

The man would wait a few moments for Yuudai to examine the contents of the box, answering any questions the genin might have before moving to the front of his cart and pulling it along to whatever cryptic task he had to do next. Opening the box would reveal a jar of canned apples and a jar of canned cherries, along with a note: Yuudai's 1st clue.

After retrieving the cat, the man waved Yuudai over. "Oh, you really don't have to, I'm happy that she is but okay." Yuudai said, cautiously following the man to a cart. Why is- Who is he? Yuudai thought as he stood, watching the man fish a box out of the cart. Does this happen regularly? The Genin mentally asked himself as the man finally pulled out a very specific box. The boy raised an eyebrow as he took the box, listening to what the man had to say, to say his message clued in the boy just who he was.

Yuudai grinned seeing cherries and apples, Red, it was a good sign along with a note. Th boy lift it up and turned to the man, "I don't suppose a Capital of Stone or a Grasshopper Outpost means anything to you?" Yuudai dug out of his back pocket and held the map to the man. "Have a guess where to go? I'm not at all familiar with Nohara no Kuni." Yuudai waited for the man to answer, either way, straight out led to Arashi no Kuni and that was a big no-no.

The boy planned on just going south till he either saw a lot of stone buildings or hearing a cacophony of grasshoppers. The genin was certain if he followed the river, he MIGHT find his goal but if the man also had a clue, even if incorrect, Yuudai was more than happy to take his special box and go on his merry way.

The man arched an eyebrow when the genin asked him for a bit of guidance on the clue, a strong smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"Capital of Stone and Grasshopper Outpost eh? That'd hafta be Hohei-chō, our capital, and Kōrogi Inaka, a nearby military outpost." The man pointed to the corresponding locations on the map as he named them. "If ya follow the river, ya can't miss it."

There wasn't much else the man could offer to Yuudai after that, and so now the genin was left to his own devices. Following the river would indeed guarantee that the genin would arrive, or at least be able to spot, the locations pointed out in the clue, but even if he travelled at maximum speed he'd not arrive at either destination until sundown or even later. Travelling the lands of Nohara no Kuni would prove uneventful, save for the occasional sight of wildlife or even a fellow traveler or two. If the genin chose to to head to Hohei-chō, he'd be greeted by quite the imposing sight. It was easily the largest city in Nohara no Kuni, boasting massive stone walls around its exterior, and the interior was just as impressive. The stone structures all looked to be quite sturdy and robust, with the Daimyo's palace standing out from all the rest in the center.

Or Yuudai could choose to travel to the military outpost, a significantly less impressive sight but still interesting in its own way. The walls surrounding the outpost were made of wood and not all that tall, but there were plenty of watchtowers to make up for it, all manned and properly maintained, with a variety of buildings within the outpost itself serving a multitude of purposes: a sort of 'mini-village'.

The man was very direct and to the point when Yuudai asked for some direction. The boy smiled and took back the items he gave for the man to help him, giving a nod, the boy bowed lightly. "Thank you for your help, I wish the best!" Yuudai stood back up before holding the box in one hand and the map in the other, sticking as close to the river as humanly possible. If Yuudai was given advice or even directions, he was going to follow to the exact point. What else were you to do if you were given directional guidance?

Following the directions proved rather uneventful. According to the map, he passed the other village he could have gone to and wondered what would have happened if he had went there instead. The boy walked in silence before shaking his head, he needn't worry about the what-ifs; right now, the Ryujin was focused on beating the challenges, he was adamant about becoming Chūnin, of becoming stronger. As the sun was setting, Yuudai could see the massive fortress known as Hohei-chō, while he wanted to explore and find the clue right away, the boy remembered the rules regarding sundown. Yuudai looked around to see what he can find, maybe get an early start tomorrow.

The boy simply looked for an open meadow or some tree to camp out in before making himself comfortable, closing his eyes as he drifted into a soft slumber. Gotta leave things for another day.

With the day coming to an end, Yuudai wisely chose to find a place to rest for the night, and looking around would reveal no shortage of large open places to sleep. The first few hours of the night would pass by without anything remarkable happening, though a bit past midnight the kumo genin would find himself in the midst of a strange encounter. Whether by stumbling across Yuudai's prone body, or simply waking the boy, a man would make his presence known to the young shinobi. It was a bit difficult to make out the man's appearance in the dim moonlight, something that seemed to be intentional judging from his dark, form fitting attire and loosely wrapped cloth around his face. The man eyed Yuudai for only a moment before coming to a split decision, hissing through his teeth and the cloth covering his mouth.

"Don't tell them about me!"

And with that, the man bounded a few more steps past Yuudai, if he was allowed, throwing himself into the tall grass and becoming silent and still. There'd be no time for the genin to ask any questions as the man's pursuers would also arrive shortly on the scene only a few moments later. Their presence was announced rather noisily by the clanking of their armor and the stomping of their boots, not to mention the torch held by one of the men. It was a trio of ashigaru that Yuudai was no doubt familiar with the sight of, and upon spotting the genin the men came over to question him.

"You there! Have you seen a shady figure come past this way? He is a dangerous thief."

It seemed that the shady man's fate was now entirely in Yuudai's hands.

It was bliss, at least, it was bliss for a while. The boy laid in the grass in silence, having fantastic dreams of possibly meeting Enju again. For the most part, however, it was a pretty blank slumber. The Genin tried his best to not stress over the clue hunting tomorrow, instead, when possible, he tried to keep his mind clear. Unfortunately, sometime in the night, he was awakened by what looked like a frantic, ragged figure. The boy looked at him with lazy, groggy eyes. He could make out the word 'tell... about... me' and Yuudai nodded lazily in acknowledgment.

The boy wanted to pass back out so bad but he heard approaching running steps. A peculiar noise that interested him enough in his groggy haze. It wasn't long at all for them to come in sight, they seemed like they wanted whoever that was... Damn, I'm tired. They called out the Kumo shinobi and he pointed at himself. "Me here. Gentlemen, I didn't hear him go far so I think he's nearby me, maybe in the tall grass. I am to sleep outside the villages and outposts for the Exams so I'm very groggy, but I think he's somewhere close by, maybe the grass." Yuudai yawned and pointed at the patch of tall grass nearest to him.

"Look there then let me know if I can go back to sleep." Yuudai stated prior to yawning and rubbing his eyes. Just let me sleep!

The guard who spoke to Yuudai tilted his head slightly as the genin gave his slightly incomprehensible reply, but for the most part the ashigaru seemed to get the message. With a curt nod, the trio of men stepped towards the area that Yuudai had pointed to, prompting the thief to make a difficult decision. He snapped up from his hiding spot, ready to make a mad dash away, but the ashigaru were ready. With coordinated movements, they quickly surrounded the thief, tackling the man to the ground before binding him with cuffs. The thief did put up a bit of a struggle, but ultimately the footmen had the situation handled. Letting his comrades begin escorting the thief away, the guard who first spoke to Yuudai approached the genin again, tipping his head slightly in thanks.

"Thank you for your cooperation. It's much too late for it now, but if you come to the outer entrance of the Daimyo's palace tomorrow during daylight hours, I'll ensure that you're properly compensated."

Judging from the sleepy boys expression, there was no telling if he fully received the message, but in any case the ashigaru would finally leave the genin to his own devices, granting a peaceful rest of the night.

The men by the looks of it got his message and started to look around. Yuudai turned to the area of fast movement, a head peeping out, Is he going to run for it? Yuudai tried to count the seconds before he got tackled and apprehended. Oh, three seconds, that's a record I think. The Genin thought t himself as he looked back at the man who confronted him? Asked for his directions? Either way, it sounded like he was thankful. Subconsciously, even though the man did some kind of wrong, Yuudai still gave him away, perhaps he would've done something similar to his father; in his daze, Yuudai held a refined grip on morality.

Instead of trying to redeem his father, perhaps he should condemn him. Either way, the soldiers informed him to head to the Daimyo's palace during the day to be compensated. The Ryujin gave to thumbs up and a nod of his head. Too much thinking, sleep, please. The Genin thought to himself s the soldiers took the man away. Never wake me again. The boy thought, his body easing up as all the men went on their way back, the boy noted the direction they appeared to be going before laying back down, turning to his side to use his arm as a pillow. Back to a deep slumber, one unfortunately dreamless, but that was good.

Yuudai yawned once before falling back asleep, his mind went blank as his breath went steady, hopefully, he could still rest after that.

Ryujin Clan: Ranton Destined

Yuudai hails from the Ryujin clan, a clan capable of Ranton jutsu; Ranton being the elements of Suiton and Raiton utilized in conjunction. Because this nature is his true calling, Yuudai is able to access Ranton abilities when he is skilled and ready to start using the skill tree, he can access the Ranton jutsus sealed behind clan archives and hidden manifests within Kumo that only clan members. While this does not grant instant access to the affinity, it does mean he is capable of learning it.

Resilience

Not only is Yuudai's personality strengthened by his convictions, but his body is also enhanced. So long as he breathes, he will get back up to fight if need be. Yuudai's resilience is unknown to him, but his body is as much committed to survive as he is convicted to his goals. Even at the point of exhaustion, and further death's door, Yuudai will get back up to fight for his life. He is never considered down and out until he physically can't get up, or if he's dead. The resiliency is how he's able to adapt and learn quickly. It is all for the survival of himself, as a human being.

Deadshot:

A unique adaption from Yuudai's high-speed combat style. This allows him to see and control his direction and reactions to the prolonged high-speed movement. This does negate the tunnel effect gained by certain jutsus. This sight gives Yuudai confidence to preform quick twists and turns during movement. These effect boons only assist him. While he can see oncoming threats at such speed, he cannot properly react at this time. Nor is he able to react quickly at the last possible interval of time. He may see threats but cannot properly react, if at all, to them. Only when he is responsible for the movement can he properly control it.
