The Lost Heir [Close Allies/Friends]: A title she gained shortly after her excommunication from her clan. Originally a sort of tongue and cheek joke in a rather failed attempt to cheer her up. Yet the name seemed to stick among her peers. While she no longer hates the name itself, she hated the title when she was younger and would silently bear it like a punishment.

Standing a bit taller than average at five foot eight inches, Shion mostly distinguishes herself due to her purple eyes and dark purple hair. The latter of which can seem either darker or lighter depending on the lighting but it usually leans towards the darker side. When her Byakugan is active her eyes take on the expected white appearance that most Hyuuga's have. She has a relatively toned body due to her profession as a shinobi but isn't overtly muscular. She has long hair that reaches down the entirety of her back and a bit past her butt. She usually keeps it back in a long pony tail due to how unmanageable it can be when undone. But unless she is expecting to be in combat on a casual day she tends to let it flow.
In terms of clothes she has a bit of a weakness for purples, blacks and everything in between those two colors. She tends to wear short kimonos with long legging, only wearing the "standard" attire if required. On her Kimono's sash there is a Konohagakure symbol. Due to her fighting style she likes to remain loose enough to go with the flow of combat. But on casual days her clothing is a lot more varied, ranging from traditional kimonos that Hyuuga's are known for to simple pants and tops. In a weird way her most of her fanciest clothes are the ones she will take out on a mission

Shion has gone through a lot in her life. When she was younger she was a staunch traditionalist until others from the outside world pointed out how strange some of her ideology was and because of that she would force herself to change. But her youthful tendency to speak out got her removed after pushing the line to far so ever since then she tends to be a bit more reserved, keeping her opinions to herself due to that childhood trauma. But under that Shion is truly a kind and empathic person. Connecting to people rather easily stemming from the fear of being unwanted. So she makes herself what others want. There are days when Shion will be up at night, drink in hand wondering who she really is because in those moments she can't tell. Is her attachment to her adoptive parent, her believed to be deceased sensei, and friends genuine or are they made up? A mask she wore for herself.
Due to the loss she experienced in her life it's hard for her to tell and the depression she is currently fighting through has lead her to alcoholism with some days being better than others. Normally she would be rather tidy person but in the last few years her home which she inherited from her sensei is just littered with empty bottles of alcohol. She normally keeps a flask or two or three on her which she struggles to make last during long missions. While she is trying to overall sober up her current record is only three weeks and that was not by choice.
But her loss also had another side effect on her outside of her depression and alcoholism. Ever since her sensei died she got protective, almost overly so. Before this point she had tried to teach a genin team only to be reassigned because she was so scared something would happen to her students she wouldn't let them do anything in missions, robbing them from important experience. Shion just views that everything needs to be done by her to keep everyone safe, even if her state of mind isn't always the best to keep herself safe.
HISTORY The perfect kunoichi. From a young age that’s what she was posed to be. Naturally talented in the fields of ninjutsu, so talented in fact that before she could even properly control it, during hand to hand combat training, sparks of lightning style would arc from her hands. Rather proficient with the gentle palm fighting style from a young age and overall held the traditions of her clan in high regards. The older sister of Hyuuga Shigure was posed to be the next heir of the Hyuuga Clan after the unfortunate fall of another part of the main branch. Yet In the end, she would be stricken from the records of the Hyuuga clan and painted to be a boogeyman. So why was that?
Going back to the beginning, or as she would describe the beginning of her story could help find the answer. She was 6 or 7 when she went from simply being a main branch of the Hyuuga Clan to the one who would be destined to lead it. While she wouldn’t fully understand the reasons why at that young age, from how her parents had acted she could understand that whatever caused it was major.
Yet that doesn’t explain how she was removed from the clan, that didn’t happen until 6 years later, shortly before she graduated from the academy. During those last 6 years she made friends with another kinouchi at the academy. She was never part of a major clan, or if she was it was never brought up to Shion. But this kunoichi was so interested in the inner workings of a major clan like the Hyuuga and the two of them would go off to stargaze in the training areas at night and talk about their lives even if it normally ended with Shion talking about herself. But her friend provided something she never really perceived in her clan: the perception of how the main and branch houses were viewed by an outsider. There were many questions her friend asked that only ended with Shion replying with: "That’s how it is.”
The more and more the two talked the more her family life felt weird to her, almost off. She became more and more sympathetic to the branch house and that sympathy quickly turned into argent support. She would start to talk back to her parents about the treatment of the branch families. At first it was all kept in private so while they were annoyed with her, there was no harm that came from it. It wasn’t until right before she was set to graduate that she made a misstep. She caused a huge fuss in front of not only members of the branch family, but some visitors visiting the Hyuuga compound. Furious, her father laid into her before kicking her out on the street. At first it didn’t feel real, and she would stay outside the compound trying to figure out a way back in. But if she was caught in the house she would be tossed back out. But not just by her father but by whoever caught her.
Eventually hunger got the better of her and she went out to try and survive. Thankfully being assigned to a three man team after graduating caused her to earn a meager income in which she could afford a small broken down apartment which was a far cry from what she had grown up used to and past basic survival skills she really didn’t know how to take care of herself. Even more mysteriously the kunoichi she had befriended in the academy seemingly vanished.
But for the next year of her life was rather difficult for Shion, constantly showing up to missions and training late or hungry, yet she would push on. Although thoughts would cross her mind: Why was she here? It’s not like she had a family here that didn’t shoot her dirty glances. She was constantly hungry and while hanging out and training with her team provided a moment of normalcy, once they were gone the loneliness would creep back to sink their claws into her. Would it just be better if she left?
Thankfully her Sensei would start to pick up more and more on Shion’s situation and when they noticed her slipping in her training and acting reckless. Up until this point Shion had been lying about her home situation and kept saying she lived at the Hyuuga compound. But once her Sensei caught wind of the truth they confronted them about it after training one day. Shion thought she was going to be off the team that day but instead, her sensei hugged her and offered her a place with them until Shion could properly get on her feet. She agreed and after that was doing quite a bit better. Life wasn’t as luxurious as what she was used to growing up but it beat the hell out of where she was staying. She came clean to her teammates as well, who gave her the nickname as the lost heir to try and cheer her up even if it just made her feel worse. But as time went on she started to view her sensei as a parental figure on top of just being her teacher.
But life became rather normal after that, training, going on missions, hanging out with her team. The usual things a young shinobi would do. It would be around this time that Shion really got into her lightning chakra nature since at this point gentle fist was mostly something she would train off of the lessons she learned before she was kicked out. She knew a lot of the concepts behind it, but had to figure it out on her own since no one in the Hyuuga Clan would help her train.
During the Chunin exams, Shion only furthered herself from her Clan. Since most people who went against her suspected a taijutsu master, they were left with quite a shock when Shion had a heavier reliance on her ninjutsu. But Shion and her team made it through the exams in one piece by some miracle. Shortly after her promotion into Chunin, her sensei officially adopted her since over the years Shion had started to refer to them as their parent.
She spent a few years as a chunin, at this point quite happy with her life. She was focusing on her ninjutsu, trying to expand her melee capabilities with her ninjutsu. Her past trauma became something that she thought she moved past. She had friends, a new family wouldn't want to throw her on the street for thinking differently. But it wasn’t until she was around 20 when things really went to shit for her.
She was out with her team on what was actually set up to be a low rank mission, but no one else was able to handle it at the moment so they did. Just a simple scouting mission, some strange beasts were spotted near the edges of the nation. They were out there working days, weeks and had overall encountered nothing. However on the day before they were going to call it quits and head home, they were attacked. Shinobi with trained beasts descended on the squad, catching them off guard. Most of them seemed to be a lot stronger than the chunin-filled group. Her sensei did their best to occupy the leader of the group while Shion and her teammates handled the rest. But eventually the group got split up and Shion tried helplessly to try and regroup with her team, finding her sensei right as they were cut across the chest and kicked backwards into a nearby gorge.
Enraged Shion attacked the leader of the shinobi, every hit she would get in would end up in her receiving two. Yet due to the work of her sensei, she was able to come out on top, battered and broken. Covered head to toe in cuts and blood she would end up going on a grief stricken rampage, taking out the rest of the shinobi. In the end her team survived, except for her sensei. Their body was never found, believed to be washed away by the rapids at the bottom of the gorge but Shion couldn’t let go. Despite being promoted to Jounin after the mission she refused to believe her sense was dead, her adoptive parent who gave her a place to stay, who treated her as their own.
Depression sunk in once more, and as more time passed it only got worse. Anything a glimmer of hope that they were alive and found that turned out to be false caused her spiraling. Taking to the bottle during this time she would use it to cope, she started to take on less and less missions, flat out refusing to work at times. It wasn’t until a year before now that her old team got back together to shake Shion out of it, to let her know that this was not what their sensei would have wanted for her. With their help Shion started to recover a bit, yet taking on missions with her old group never seemed to sit right anymore so she turned to teaching. Doing that for most of the year before being assigned a group of genin of her own.
FIGHTING STYLE Most people would think knowledge is power and knowing your enemy is a Hyuuga gives you plenty on how they may fight. Sadly for them Shion doesn't normally fight like most Hyuuga who are widely known as taijutsu masters. In fact she is missing a lot of Hyuuga abilities due to being kicked out and could only figure out a few on her own based off of memory. But she isn't without her strengths. Naturally gifted with lightning style she tends to go for the immediate K.O. with lightning style against weaker opponents. For stronger opponents she will use her water and earth styles to soak and lock the enemy down to make her lighting style more effective. So while some of her water style if offensive a massive amount of her non-lightning jutsu are more supportive in nature. In additional to the gentle fist fighting style she grew up with, she learned how to swordfight from her sensei. This allowed her to bypass the roadblock she hit with the gentle fist style and make her more versatile in combat. But ever since losing her sensei she has lost some restraint, going for the kill unless instructed otherwise due to fear of losing anyone else.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
BYAKUGAN
Despite being removed from the clan, Shion's Byakugan was never sealed or removed. She has had her Byakugan since early in life, right before her time in the academy. It allows her to see nearly 360 degrees around her with one a 1 degree blind stop near the back of head. On top of that she has the ability to see through most objects, giving her a great perception of his environment and making it very hard to surprise or ambush the Hyuuga when she has her doujutsu activated. Despite being kicked out of her clan, Shion trained to develop her sight.
Shion managed to increase the range of her Byakugan to a maximum range of 2 kilometers, which is quite impression for someone who was primarily self-taught. Like all Hyuuga her vision is also telescopic and can detect chakra sealed barriers as well as determine when genjutsu is being used. Shion is able to discern clones from their makers, can see through the previously mentioned chakra barriers, smokescreens and walls.
On top of all that, Shion's training and experience before she was excommunicated allowed her to learn how to read people’s emotions. Therefore, while using her byakugan, she can usually detect if someone is lying, though the impulses of the brain, heartbeat and such, and sometimes even anticipate reactions based on the body functions prior to an action. However the focus required for it makes it hard to use in combat unless Shion has full support team backing her up, so it's much for useful in social situation.
Enhanced Chakra Control
Despite being excommunicated in her early teenage years, Shion has had enough practice with the Gentle Fist style to understand the basis of the enhanced charka control that is require of her. That solid basis allowed her to train on her own and with the help of other ninja to make sure she could control her chakra and avoid unnecessary waste. This ability gives her an edge on the battlefield, as she will be able to use more techniques, more often, and avoid the draining effects of running out of chakra due to waste.
Lightning Touched
Shion was as her mother always put it: Thunder Touched. Born with an almost out of character affinity to lightning chakra for a Hyuuga, it's something that was as natural as breathing but at a young age uncontrollable. Her taijutu is naturally imbued with lightning chakra, making her fists more like a piercing weapon rather than blunt instrument. The lightning also produces as paralyzing effect, each strike feeling like a hit of electricity. It pairs quite well with her gentle touch fighting since the injected chakra is more deadly or effective, but Lightning Touched also applies to whatever weapon that Shion is holding at the time. However if the weapon is past off or thrown it's not imbued with the element like someone who actually focuses on imbuing an element into a weapon.
Master Swordsman
While the basis of the Hyuuga's gentle fist style were drilled into her head almost from birth, there is only so far self-training can get a girl. So to round out her taijutsu she also picked up a sword, training with it almost as much as her gentle fist technique, applying many of the same principles to the blade as she could. Making her strikes even more deadly since she can figure out just where to stab.
Enhanced Reflexes
A cornerstone for almost all Hyuuga and and practitioners of lightning style alike. Mixed with her past disgust of her failing to save her sensei in time meant that Shion spent a lot of time practicing her reactions even in her inebriated state. She is able to react, intercept or redirect an an opponents attack much faster than the standard ninja.
