Yoshida Clan We stand with our village as our spears stand with us! CLAN TYPE: Hijutsu | Narashi CLAN ORIGIN: Mizu no Kuni CLAN RESIDENCE: Mizu no Kuni, Kirigakure no Sato CLAN IDEOLOGY The Yoshida Clan is a family made up of a militaristic focus on spears and their Spear Dancing style. They’ve honed the art of the spear through the generations to gain respect for what they did during their mercenary times. These rules usually reinforce their ideology and traditions to keep everyone following what they believe in the Eternal Spear’s wishes for his clan. These rules that make up their ideology must be followed:
Rule #1 Maintain the spear, the Heart, and Soul of your techniques
The Yoshida Clan focuses primarily on using the spear in their specific clan Hijutsu called Spear Dancing Style. In this case, they have to respect and maintain their weapon throughout all of their trials and tribulations. If not, the only reason it takes until the Choice Test is when these new adults in the clan choose a spear to be with them as their ancestors have done so. As long as they keep their spear’s maintenance up, they will never be without the spirit of what the Eternal Spear wished for their clan. Everyone in the clan treats their weapon not as a tool but as an extension of themselves. It is part of them as much as a family member or their soul, and they will feel incomplete without a Spear beside them.
Rule #2 Show Respect to everyone, including your enemies and even more so your allies.
In equal measure, Yoshida Clan’s Kunoichi is one if not combines beauty, deadliness, kindness, gentleness, and fearlessness in one package. The package is usually classified as a package to determine if they are up to the task of being a Medical Ninja with their clan’s specific Hijutsu called Spear Dancing Style. Though most Kunoichi usually choose a different path than trying to surpass the Docile Spear. Kindness and gentleness are determined for an enemy or a friend who faces them. They take a differing approach only because of the Eternal Spear’s wishes for his clan.
Rule #3 The Hijutsu Techniques are sacred, and they must never be stolen or leaked to others.
The Yoshida Clan doesn't take too kindly to traitors in their midst that willingly try to leak out the Hijutsu Techniques: Spear Dancing Style to ones that don't deserve them. The punishment for leaking or betraying the Yoshida Clan is harsher than accidentally or purposely killing someone from the duels sanctioned by themselves. No one in the Yoshida Clan has ever spread the Hijutsu so far in their history. They have a method of dealing with traitors, and that's hunting them down till the ends of the continent with keeping to the rules of not trespassing on other lands. The Quinsol and Queira Spearmasters will deal with prejudice when brought back to the clan. The Yoshida Clan doesn't take too kindly to having people leaking their secrets since, throughout the family, they kept a tight lid on their Hijutsu. The clan does have a rule against thieves of their secrets, and it isn't as severe as the leaker's punishment. They are secretive with their Hijutsu.
Rule #4 The Clan’s history is essential to our way of life now.
The Yoshida Clan's history is never to be forgotten but looked on from a historical standpoint in the Clan's history. The historians are these eyes that take a stance on whatever has happened in the Clan's past. The Historians don't quite understand the reason why their Eternal Spear chose to settle in Kirigakure no Sato out of all the Villages. They debate some people in their Clan for the senses, but the most straightforward answer is often the truth. The Eternal Spear chose to settle in Kirigakure no Sato rather than any other village because many of the Clan's origins stem from the Mist. The Clan's mercenaries gave them a fierce reputation for what kind of mercenaries they were before joining Kirigakure no Sato. All the Historical Records are categorized in what the Yoshida Clan did, in each era, their creation, and their settlement in Kirigakure no Sato. The Yoshida Clan enjoyed their experiences and wouldn't trade them for the world throughout their lives.
Rule #5 Loyalty to the Village and the Land’s Daimyo.
The Yoshida Clan holds loyalty to Mizu no Kuni and Kirigakure no Sato in high regard since that’s the place the clan settled. They would never betray the trust of the people in charge since they’ve been a highly sought-after Mercenary Band of Spear using Ninjas and Kunoichi. In all the decisions and measures given to the Yoshida Clan by the Mizukage, they supported each one of them. It’s all because they live peacefully enough in Kirigakure no Sato now and still follow their desires to become more assertive with their spears at their sides. The Quinsol and Quiera Spearmasters would never betray the gift of living in a village without trying to live barely since that’s what their Eternal Spear has given them. CLAN TRADITION Tattoos Yoshida clan members have the clan symbol tattooed on their backs by their parents besides wearing it on clothing. When a child hits 12 years old, they are given the clan symbol as a tattoo on the back. A parent does place the tattoo on the child’s back, but it’s only the same gender as the child that has hit the age of 12. The child becomes an adult and is given more responsibility in the clan, including the test of choice.
In addition, you can get extra tattoos from your parents even younger than the age of adulthood. Quiera Spearmaster Heiresses are given a tattoo mark for the greatness they could do in the future. On their arms to their shoulder blade, a flower embroidery tattoo that makes them an heiress. Only the current Quiera Spearmaster can mark their daughter with this tattoo.
The Test of Choice Yoshida Clan’s Choice Test is the first test of the clan after their right of passage for children that hit adulthood for the line, which allows them to choose a spear by crafting it or selecting from one of the four Wayward Spears. In choosing a Wayward Spear over crafting a spear, you will be given a clan title befitting the Wayward Spear you decided. It will cause you to get on your track in becoming one of the Twelve Grand Highwarders or Highward Spear Wielder in the clan, but you must pass the Determination Test and Worthiness Test even to get your chance. In selecting to craft a spear over picking a Wayward spear, you will have to complete the Determination Test and Immortalization Test. It is precisely to immortalize you and your crafted spear to be placed as a new holder of a Highward Spear or another Wayward Spear.
As a clan member, it will take until around 16 - 18 years old before you can undertake the Determination Test. It is up to which Retired Clansmen or Clan’s Woman is training you to determine if you can handle the weapon you are wielding. It is rare to see someone as a prodigy and easily understand everything the Eternal Spear or Docile Spear had done generations ago. The Eternal Spear and the Docile Spear are the aliases of the Clan Founder and his wife, and no one can hope to surpass the earlier for how much he trained to at least try to perfect their specific style spear use, the Spear Dancing Style.
The Test of Determination Yoshida Clan’s Determination Test is the second test for clan members who selected a Wayward Spear or crafted a spear during the Choice Test. No matter their gender, A clan member has to go through the rigors of this test. It will determine if the ones who chose the Wayward Spear are ready for the challenges of the Worthiness Test. It helps signify the need for patience for those who crafted a spear during the Choice Test for the Immortalization Test. In all the Determination Tests, up through the clan’s long history, only one out of the many failures. It took a change by the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters by giving out requirements similar to the Worthiness Test to all individuals, so no more failings happen in this phase of the tests. Sinning by murdering a clan member purposely or accidentally will cause you to be sentenced as a Silver Spear. It is lower on the totem pole for Yoshida Clan’s Hierarchy than the Black Spear.
Additionally, the Determination Test’s requirements, similar to the Worthiness Test, differ. Instead of honoring the previous wielders of the Highward Spears, it is to keep your fellow clan members within the test and show no disrespect to them. The second requirement is a one-on-one duel between you and your fellow Clan members to improve your skills for more significant challenges, but you must get your fellow Clan member to surrender, and no one is allowed to die in this duel. The final requirement of the Determination Test is to accept your new title in the clan. Usually, positions within the clan coincide with this title you’ve gained, and you can be whatever is determined to be in the most need for a rank with a title. It is a title that the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters respectably give to their clan members that successfully passed the Determination Test. You may respectfully decline the title and rank that the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters gave you and tell them that it might not fit what you want to do in the future with your life. These two people will always consider what their clan members wish to as long as they follow the rules of no killing in the duel.
The Test of Worthiness Yoshida Clan’s Worthiness Test is the final test for the clan members who selected a Wayward Spear during the Choice Test. The final test for those who chose their Wayward Spear will be treated to a difficult challenge as there are three requirements to wield a Highward Spear. A leger document in the Clan Compound shows many names of those who previously wielded the Highward Spear before the new clan members that are wielding them. The first requirement to wield the Highward Spear is acknowledging the past wielders and honoring them in the Ascension Rights ritual. The second requirement is a one-on-one duel of one of the other clans in Kirigakure no Sato to surrender, and no one is allowed to die in this duel because it would dishonor the clan and the Eternal Spear. The final Requirement of the Worthiness Test is to appease the Quinsol Spear Master and the Queria Spear Master, which coincides with the Clan Leader and his wife. The Quinsol Spear Master will determine your worthiness by asking you six questions and how you hold up to the first Quinsol Spear Master and Queira Spear Master. These answers to these six questions will earn you the right to wield one of the Highward Spears with the Clan Leader’s Blessing.
The six questions are based on whether you are more to gain a similar alias to the Docile Spear, the Eternal Spear’s Wife. No one in the clan has ever surpassed the Eternal Spear or first Quinsol in all the Yoshida Clan’s years. He was one of the few people that outright changed how the Yoshida Clan lived and helped everyone in the lands his clan now calls home.
Any clan member, regardless of gender, accidentally or on purpose killed someone during their duel against a different clan. They will be stripped of everything they gained from the previous two tests and be considered a Black Spear or Outcast. None of these Black Spears can leave the Clan Compound or marry anyone. These people are usually marked with a tattoo on their left arm to signify they are a Black Spear, and they will be forced to cover their clan tattoo. Only two people in the clan carry out this punishment, and that’s the Quinsol and Queria Spear Masters to any dishonored clan members. Another thing the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters cannot play favorites, even if one of the ones in the Worthiness Test is their son or daughter. They have to be unbiased compared to everything else they do during this test.
The Test of Immortalization Yoshida Clan’s Immortalization Test is the final test for the clan members who crafted their spears during the Choice Test. The Sokuto Spear and Sketi Spear were the starting two Highward Spears, so they didn’t need to become Immortalized, but their wielders indeed became immortalized in the clan. This specific test immortalized all the other clan spears that are Highward or Wayward Spears. Their original owners are immortalized forever, and their spears were reforged to fit the quality of craftsmanship of the Sokuto and Sketi Spears. The Highward Spears Hierarchy Sokuto and Sketi Spears are the 1st and 2nd Spears, respectively. The outcome for clan members who have their spears and their names immortalized is they are retired from going out on missions or long dead.
In addition, retired clansmen and women are waiting out the timer of when the clan’s hierarchy will immortalize them. They must help train the new generation for their upcoming tests for their future. They are split in whom they train since both genders are equal in the clan, but women usually teach their daughters or other girls in the Choice Test and Determination. The same way the clansmen teach their sons and the other boys in their clan in the Choice Test and Determination. The clansmen usually go with a slightly more rigorous training method since they had to deal with it when a child. In contrast, the clan’s women are a bit less rough with their teaching being fair and gentle with their specific set of instructions that differs from the clansmen. Unless a girl wants to be trained similar to the boys in the clan, then that’s when the clan’s women will rigorously train their daughters to try to surpass the Immortalized Docile Spear.
Ascension Rights As one would suspect from the Yoshida Clan, they celebrate all the previous wielders of the Highward Spears. It is a ritual that holds much acknowledgment in the clan since it is part of the first requirement of the Worthiness Test, and one must celebrate the past to look to the future as the next Highward Spear wielder. The Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters are present at these ascension rights and the Worthiness Test. These celebrations are week-long, but they ensure they don’t overlap with the Celebrating Summer, Nario Matsuri, or the Celebrating Fall, the Gekkō Festival. It is held every second week in spring to not coincide with the two festivals in Mizu no Kuni.
Yoshida Clan members being tested for their worthiness by the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters have to wholly respect the ones who have the titles of Eternal Spear and Docile Spear first. After that, they can appreciate the rest of the Highward Spear wielders by the instructions by the Quinsol Spear Master or his wife. Though, after the Ascension Rights are completed, the second requirement of the Worthiness Test starts.
Marriage Rights Yoshida Clan's Marriage Rights is a sacred ceremony between the bride and groom, held on a single day of the bride's choosing. The bride in these ceremonies is allowed to choose the theme and how many guests show up during it. Family and Friends are usually what the bride picks to show up at the wedding. These friends are outside the clan, mainly since the Yoshida Clan don't mind inviting others to their sacred events like marriage. It shows that the responsibility of having everything ready for the marriage is in the bride's hands. These marriage ceremonies have one great thing, usually, after the wedding is complete is a traditional dance between the bride and groom. As one would suspect, the dance is similar to how they dance with their spears, but it is without dancing with the spear and with their dance partner or husband.
The groom's responsibilities differ from their bride's responsibilities, but they will keep the clan going if they deal with it. The Council of Ten Spears, the Quinsol, and the Queira Spear Masters chat with the groom to gauge how much more responsibility the two soon newlyweds can handle after the day of their marriage is complete. Both sides in the talks estimate if the married couple is ready to one day be the new leaders of the clan or if the Co-Leaders want to retire early and gain the first two spots of the Council. The groom never leaves the one he is marrying in the dark, and if his wife is relieved, they will not be forced into the Spear Competition, which is grueling and indeed a waste of time most of the time. One reason, because most everyone is slightly less critical than whoever marries the Quinsol and the Queira Spear Master's daughter since out of everything, she's the readiest to be the Queira to the Quinsol.
Though, the tradition is a prelude to forcing even more responsibility on the Quinsol and Queira's daughter more so than not. Most women in the clan wouldn't want that much responsibility since they are trying to live their lives and support their village. They are dealing with the pains of being guided by the Council of Ten Spears, which helps the Quinsol and Quiera Spear Masters be ready to lead the clan in a similar vein as the one nicknamed with the Eternal Spear and his wife, who is nicknamed the Docile Spear.
Restoration Rights At all times, the Yoshida Clan picks any of the upcoming clan members who’ve chosen a Wayward Spear during the Choice Test. These rights are specifically for maintaining and keeping Yoshida’s Arsenal secured. Only trustworthy clan members are given this task to clean, understand the history, and secure the weapons. All the Highward Spears are too dangerous to use for someone who only started on their path to wielding one. These rights show you are like your clan tattoo says you are an adult with a soul worthy of being a Spearmaster later in your life.
Quinsol and Queira Spearmasters usually watch anyone entering the Highward Spear Vault that also houses the Wayward Spears, which Clans members didn’t choose during the Choice Test. However, there is a notable exception to these rights, the son or daughter of the Quinsol and Queira Spearmasters have to do these chores no matter what. Therefore, Yoshida Shinon usually had to do these chores as the daughter of Yoshida Masaru and Yoshida Yasuko. It doesn’t help that she is the only child for those two. These chores are usually easier to do with extra helping hands, but her parents help since it is time-consuming for their daughter to do it. CLAN HIERARCHY The Yoshida Clan’s Hierarchy is tied explicitly to co-leadership roles instead of a single leader. These leadership positions are named the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters, which have absolute authority in their clan for stuff about its traditions and laws. As one would suspect, there is a 10 Yari no Hyōgi-kai or The Council of Ten Spears, which supports the Quinsol and Queira Spear Master in training the new Quinsol to follow the principles of the past Spear Masters who were in the position. Preparing the new Quinsol involves the marriage of the heiress of the previous Quinsol. All the while, the previous Quinsol, and Queira take the first two positions of the Council of Ten Spears to teach and help the Quinsol Spear Master understand the ideals of the Eternal Spear, the greatest of the Quinsol Spear Masters. In addition, the Council of Ten Spears does rule in the stead of the two that are above them, but only in a limiting capacity as one would suspect from ones who support the Quinsol and Quiera Spearmasters. It only happens when the Quinsol and Quiera Spear Masters are doing their more essential duties involving warfare and combat with the Spears they wield in conjunction with the other clans of the Kirigakure Village.
The Yoshida Clan’s heiresses learn of their position on their eleventh birthday, a year before they reach adulthood. Some heiresses are in the know about their duties in the clan. In contrast, other heiresses take until their marriage to know the commitment in the clan. If you are an aware heiress, you won’t be too shocked when your parents retire from the co-leadership position to a guiding role in the 10 Yari no Hyōgi-kai called the Quinsto Spear Councillor and Queiva Spear Councillor. The 10 Yari no Hyōgi-kai positions are equal since they guide the new Quinsol and Queira Spear Master. There are only five total male positions and five total female positions since they highly regard the clan’s guiding principles. The other eight positions aren’t as strict as the previous Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters, which means that the eight different positions don’t have to be specifically a married couple. Positivity is usually overflowing within the Council since the eight other positions are divided up for specific tasks or knowledge they need to pass down to the new generation of clansmen and women.
The selected eight other positions in the council are masters of their specific tradecrafts or tasks needed within the clan. A single master usually doubles upon these tradecrafts or duties in their chosen profession or job with a moderately skilled person helping them. In this case, let’s break down each position in the clan council. The first position underneath the Councillors is the Spearsmith and Quartermasters. These positions help train clan members in the art of crafting their spears or being quick in giving spears to wield in training or any other purpose the clan requires. Also, the Spearsmiths and Quartermasters take special commissions for people outside of the clan to craft a spear instead of a different ninja tool. Whoever did commission the Yoshida Clan to craft them a spear must wait upon delivery of the spear instead of watching the creation of their spear. The clan takes stealing secret weapon crafting techniques thoughtfully, where they would rather not give someone a commission if they insult the honorable traditions of the clan.
The second position underneath the Spearsmiths and Quartermasters are the Instructors and Traders. Instructors train clan members in the art of the spear, the spear dancing style, and any other instruction required to stay in line with the teachings, traditions, and the clan’s rules. Traders within the clan are how the Spearsmiths and the Quartermasters can get special commissions to get money. They also trade with many people to make sure no one feels left out of trading with the Yoshida Clan. Everyone knows how the Yoshida clan reacts when people are too insistent in learning their secrets. Sometimes, Instructors from the Yoshida Clan ask to work at the Ninja Academy in the Mist Village only because they want to gain a more extensive wide array of teaching skills to improve how they privately instruct their clan members. Mostly it is how they can address their clan members better than being overly rigid and a bit old-fashioned.
The third position underneath the Instructors and Traders are the Historians and Philosophers. Historians within the clan are one of the most critical positions in the council since they keep track of all historical records of the clan. These historical records involve the clan's creation and becoming a Traveling Mercenary band for hire to a people who settled to feel safe and sound from the frequent trials of being mercenaries. It was why they joined the Mist Village. The Philosophers feel there was a reason why the Eternal Spear chose the Mist Village to live. They use sound reasoning and the historical record to help everyone understand why the clan must stay tied to the Mist Village. If it wasn't for the stand true philosophy that most clan members spout, they stand with the village as their spears stand with them. They see a challenge in debating someone else with a different philosophical set of ideals over trying to browbeat people over the head of following the footsteps of the one that stopped their aimlessly wandering.
The fourth position underneath the Historians and Philosophers are the Speakers and Lawbringers. In addition, there are no more council positions after the Speakers and Lawbringers. These two positions are the ones that tell everyone in the clan the rules and guidelines set by the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters and help everyone understand why these rules are necessary to follow. Though usually, the Lawbringers do bring people who break the laws to the Quinsol and Queira Spear Masters to punish since they have absolute authority in giving punishments to those who break the rules and traditions to a pretty desperate margin. The Speakers are the ones to announce the traditional holiday that all clan members join in and celebrate. Also, all the speakers tell clan members about the Celebrations within or without the clan. The grander of these celebrations is the Nario Matsuri and Gekkō festival, which the Mist Village holds. They show respect to the Village that allowed them to settle in their lands to be part of a more significant overall experience than being a wandering mercenary band of Spear Wielding Ninja.
The Yoshida Clan don't believe in using branch families since everyone is treated equally. In the clan's eyes, it's a bit counterintuitive to introduce a system that hasn't been in the clan ever since its founding many years ago. They were primarily focused on the clan's survival, and combat capabilities rather than playing favorites among the trees like many other clans use branch families. Every clan member has an equal stake in keeping to the beliefs instilled into the clan for so long, and a Spear is the extension of the self. It depends on the person. If they are gentle and kind, their techniques with their spear will be swift as the winds, but if they aren't that way and have an intense streak, they will cause their spear to be devastating as a fire.
Because without having a branch family, it allows the clan to have much more flexibility of the Ascendant Highward Spearmasters and the training of the Descendant Waywarder Spear Trainees to become the next Ascendant Highwarder Spearmasters. Though the Ascendant Highward Spearmasters are personally commanded by the Quinsol and Queira Spearmaster and do what they must to protect the Queila or Heiress of the Clan. It shows the 12 Ascendant Highward Spearmasters are entirely loyal to their authority figures and are the elite guard of the family in charge at the time. The loyalty of the Ascendant Highward Spearmasters never falters since they know that they are keeping the Eternal Spear’s legacy alive by keeping the peace in the clan. The Trainees that chose their spear through the Choice Test and picked a Waywarder Spear will be allowed to rise the ranks to become an Ascendant Highward Spearmaster. However, it’ll be an arduous trial becoming a Spearmaster of a Spear that has that much power.
The clan has an outcast hierarchical rank called the Unforgiven Spears, and everyone by the clan usually watches them. Though they aren’t allowed to do anything in the clan, not even marry since having children may cause a more rampant problem. There are two kinds of Unforgiven Spears, the Black Spears and Silver Spears. The Clan sanctions duels between other clans or inner clan duels between other clan members. These Unforgiven Spears committed the greatest sin by accidentally or purposely killing another clan member or a clan member of a different clan in cold blood from one of these Clan Sanctioned Duels not to kill another person. They are part of the Village Hidden in the Mists, and it’s to show the other Clans, they don’t needlessly kill others in duels that the Yoshida Clan sanctions. The Gentleness in separating their events from the Mist Village from each other is the best way to keep their traditions alive and going. It would be better not to needlessly kill someone when they would be a better asset living, one of the reasons they fit right in with the Mist Village much more than the other villages is because it’s a village that primarily focuses on strength. They have much more focus on Bukijutsu. CLAN HISTORY In the lands of Mizu no Kuni, way before the founding of Kirigakure, no Sato or any such rumblings of a founding. The Yoshida clan were uneasy about the uneasy peace between the clans in Mizo no Kuni. Therefore, the Quinsol Spearmaster, Yoshida Takumi, and his wife Yoshida Natsumi, the Queira Spearmaster. They left their homeland searching for work as a roving band of mercenaries, which kept the knowledge that their clan would probably return to Mizu no Kuni one day. In this case, the era was called the Grand Exploration or Peaceful Exodus, which means that either or means they might be back but would take a long time to return. Their culture was quite different from the other clans in Mizu no Kuni around that point, so they decided to leave Mizu no Kuni.
When the Yoshida Clan found work as mercenaries, they worked inside those lands until they felt like they needed to keep moving. It was to better protect their traditions from taking those other lands. Not staying in one place is one of the reasons they increased their military tactics and were able to help others without even being asked most of the time. They were usually called the Generous Spear Company. Only for the reason of protecting the weak and helpless from the strong. The clan used it to keep their reputation up since they didn’t want to bring trouble to any of the lands they stayed in for a length of time. They even protected wealthy merchants while traveling along the roads to any lands. It was a common courtesy to help others even though they came from a land that only believed in strength above all others.
The Yoshida clan had a more difficult time finding work as a mercenary unit in other lands. They learned one crucial thing, though: their homeland Mizu no Kuni, founded Kirigakure no Sato about six years after founding the Leaf. The one leading the clan was no other than the Eternal Spear or the Quinsol Spearmaster, Yoshida Katsu, with his wife, the Docile Spear, Yoshida Kasumi. The Eternal Spear made a hard choice while speaking to his entire clan to return to Mizu no Kuni to join Kirigakure no Sato. He saw it on the wall that the Mercenary decision would be harder to live by than returning home in the long run. It would be a journey to return to Mizu no Kuni, but in essence, it’s better to return to their homeland than stay outside of there.
Yoshida Katsu traversed the lands to return homeward in Mizu no Kuni. The Era was called the Return of the Spear. In this case, they stopped their wanderings during the Shodaime Mizukage in 931. In terms, they returned only thirty-seven years after learning of Kirigakure no Sato’s Founding. The Yoshida clan returned with a much better understanding of the real reason why they felt the need to explore before 894. The family felt insufficient to help Mizu no Kuni’s Daimyo protect the lands without significantly increasing their strength and evolving their Sojutsu and Spear Dancing Style to a much better significant degree than they had lived on Mizu no Kuni. Yoshida Takumi wanted to expand the clan’s horizons in understanding what they were adequately missing before returning to their homeland in Mizu no Kuni.
In essence, Yoshida Katsu pledged the entirety of the Yoshida clan’s resources to the Daimyo of Mizu no Kuni and the Mizukage who ruled Kirigakure no Sato. He was known out far and wide by the just deeds of his title called the Eternal Spear of the Generous Spear Company. They were traversing many lands, seeing the people needing to be protected and generously protecting them with the only need to help others that needed to be supported. Compassion is a hard commodity to come by in mercenary companies, mainly if they are based around an entire clan. The Yoshida never took advantage of any of their clients, defended them justly, and never held anyone to account that came across them and fought to kill their clients.
There has been minor restructuring since all the clan positions were already in place. The only change was the addition of the fifth rule always to be loyal to Mizu no Kuni and Kirigakure no Sato. The Council would continue to support the Quinsol and Quiera Spearmasters as they did but in a more permanent place inside a Ninja Village instead of on their own somewhere. All this was to safeguard the future of the clan’s children that will become adults like traditionally been ever since they left way before the creation of Kirigakure no Sato. The family, in general, was a bit homesick and yearned to return Mizu no Kuni, so it helped them get over that problem of theirs.
The entire clan immortalized Yoshida Katsu and his wife Yoshida Kasumi after passing away. It was the least the family could do to return the clan to a sense of normalcy while living in a stationary place instead of frequently moving. Those two people were the greatest of the Yoshida by how well-liked and how potent they were on the battlefield or negotiating. They saw the importance of keeping everyone healthy and well in their clan when they were mercenaries, and that’s why the Docile Spear of the Generous Spear Company was one of those few people to be afraid of if you don’t want to be healed. In essence, the Quinsol and Quiera Spearmasters were a dangerous pair, but Kasumi was the most gentle woman to have ever lived in the Yoshida Clan to this day.
As time passes, the Yoshida clan increases their relations with families inside Kirigakure no Sato and abroad. All so they can stay on the course of staying with the village they hold loyalty to for accepting them inside of it after their allegiance to them in 928. They felt comfortable, but they always had their stance on strength should be used with compassion or no one will get anywhere with anything. Their Eternal Spear taught them how to give a heavy hand or a soft hand dealing with multiple different people or ways of life. The Yoshida felt indebted to their homeland, and Kirigakure no Sato accepted them as part of the village. They loved Mizu no Kuni so much in the most basic way, the entire land they live on over anything else.
The Civil War shook the entirety of the Yoshida clan to its core, mainly because they thought the good thing would last. The Eternal Spear’s teachings would have made them a neutral party in the civil war if it hadn’t come to that, but the Quinsol Spearmaster at the time, Yoshida Masaru, and his wife, Yoshida Yasuko. They chose to stand by the village their clan has been living in for generations since they didn’t exactly trust the Daimyo, with whatever nefarious plan he had for the town they loved. Also, it primarily was because they wanted to protect their daughter Yoshida Shinon, who was the Queila, or the Heiress of the Clan. It means their daughter was only five years old when that civil war happened. Therefore, they chose the basic necessity of protecting their daughter over allowing anything to happen to her.
The only thing that came out of that civil war was that the Quinsol Spearmaster and Queira Spearmaster didn’t lose their lives and were able to see their daughter grow up. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows since they had to deal with a rampaging Bijuu after the conclusion of the civil war. As one would suspect, the clan tried to minimize the damage, but the Yoshida clan still felt the scars of the civil war throughout Mizu no Kuni. If it weren’t for everything, their daughter would have also lost her parents if not for their excellent skills on the battlefield with their Sojutsu and Spear Dancing Style. Everyone learned that the Yoshida clan were fierce fighters in the civil war, but they had years of experience outside Mizu no Kuni to perfect their skills on the battlefield. CLAN ABILITIES Supiadansusutairu - スピアダンススタイル [lit. Spear Dancing Style] [SA Required: It is required to unlock all Bukijutsu that use this style]
The Yoshida clan’s secret technique, a Hijutsu that has been passed down in the clan ever since they existed before even ninja villages formed. It is akin to a unity between the spinning motion of the extension of themselves, the Spear. If the Spear is baton spun in a clockwise motion, it unlocks the ability to use Wind-Based Bukijutsu via the use of the art of the Spear. In contrast, counterclockwise motions unlock the ability to use Fire-Based Bukijutsu.
The Yoshida clan performs dances as they are fighting, and they unlock the ability to do much more damage with these two elements. All the clan had, in the beginning, was access to Wind-Based and Fire-Based Bukijutsu. It took them a long time to gain access even to try to use Bukijutsu based around other Chakra Elements. Still, their bread and butter are no further than the ones locked behind the starter Bukijutsu of the Spear Dancing Style, otherwise known as Yoshida bo Hoten Hijutsu.
The Yoshida clan tries to limit the damage they cause by using their Hijutsu, but sometimes, some of their ninjas or kunoichis cannot help it. A Kunoichi in the Yoshida clan usually trains much more complicated than a clansman only because they have to keep the dancing moves in mind while they are fighting. It is why most of the Kunoichis are much more flexible and focused on showing they are kinder than their male counterparts. Usually, it is better to be much faster than an opponent, and the size difference helps much. It would be better to put two Kunoichis than a Kunoichi and Ninja in a duel between clan members.
Sōjutsu - 槍術 [lit. Art of the Spear]
Sōjutsu is the martial art of fighting with a spear, much longer reach than swords. In the Yoshida clan, they use the art of the spear to be an extension of themselves, and they train their heart and souls in the use of the spear. Clan Members wouldn’t let the mastery of using a spear go to the waist for different weapon types. It is used in conjunction with their spear fighting style, their Hijutsu. As part of the culture of the Yoshida, they must maintain their weapons, so it doesn’t feel like they are disrespecting their ancestor’s use of the said spear. It is said that a good spear beside you will serve you better than a worn and damaged spear.
May the winds bear you gifts of happiness or sadness in the clan, but never be depressed since it’ll be better to get up and try again. It means all clan members mustn’t ever give up trying to train while combining martial art with Spear Dancing Style. As such, they give everyone a path properly to follow so no one can ever falter in what must be done. Though only a select few of the clan has ever fully grasped these teachings and become some of the greatest in the clan, which means the one that got them the best was the Eternal Spear. He showed quite an understanding of what it was to be a Spearmaster, and he led his people to prosperity because of it.
If it weren’t for the spear, the Yoshida clan would have probably been absorbed by other more significant or more numerous families in their homeland of Mizu no Kuni. One of the myths is the reasoning behind the left of the clan in the past underneath Yoshida Takumi. In addition, there are specific training spears to be trained with that aren’t equipped with metallic blades, basically similar to wooden kunai or wooden shuriken that people get in the academy. Though, the clan itself supplies the village with these wooden training spears to any of their clan members in the academy.
Igaku-teki kettei no geijutsu - 医学的決定の芸術 [Art of Medical Determination] [Specialization Required: Medical Ninjutsu (Primary or Secondary) to access this SA]
The Yoshida clan were an early adopter of medical ninja in the field because of being wandering mercenaries before returning Mizu no Kuni. Medical Ninjas have to follow the footsteps and teachings of the Docile Spear, Yoshida Kasumi. In her footsteps and teachings, Kunoichi can’t discriminate against others based on their location or an enemy, previously fought with Yoshida. In that case, it shows no one has ever been discriminated against by the Yoshida clan’s medical ninja nor the clan itself.
As Medical Ninja of the Yoshida, they have a greater understanding of many different ailments or injuries in a battlefield environment. In addition, they must have an unbridled inability to show any disrespect or hatred towards another human, which is part of Mizu no Kuni or isn’t. It is to keep the solidarity between the one they are healing and themselves since they have one of the best bedside manners and medical talents. Everyone shouldn’t be left out in the cold without a place to rest in relaxation while sipping some soup to get warm. It is their motto for their medical ninja.
In all their history, Yoshida only used the available medical jutsu and never tried to create their own but with their great understanding and determination. They would be able to do anything any other medical ninja can do, and they never allow themselves to lose anyone if they can help it. It is better to gain friendships than let those people die for getting too involved in something they couldn’t handle. In the Docile Spear’s eyes, it’s better to allow people to not live with hardships or become hatred itself by wanting vengeance on those who stole their loved ones. The Generous Spear Company never tried to increase hatred or revenge when they moved through the lands, and it was in essence against their nature as a clan.
The Medical Ninja of the Yoshida only has the medical ninjutsu and tools that are available to them. In addition, the developments of the focused medical jutsu clans will never be adopted by the Yoshida clan since it is against their nature to do so. It’s a great sin to try to steal in the Yoshida since they don’t abide others in trying to steal their Hijutsu, based explicitly around the Wind Chakra or Fire Chakra. CLAN MEMBERS |
