[attr="class","skullbody"]It was a cold winter afternoon in the land of snow and young Jun had finished getting her team assignment. crazy to think she’d only gotten her team position and headband only a few days ago but here she was. She studied the name card of her teammate feverishly. "Taji...Taji...Taji...bukijutsu specialist, I wonder what form of usefulness he’ll provide to the team.”she’d wonder as she scanned the card for a moment. "I suppose I’ll find out after we’ve been given our first assignment. For now...however."

The girl would stop her feet crunching beneath the snow as the wind blew at her purple jacket and she’d then remove some kunai from her pouch and place two of them in between her fingers "Alright focus.” the girl would state as she’d carefully lined up her target, taking a deep breath as she pulled back her wrist ever so slightly. There was a silence as she took aim and then after a few moments of concentration Jun would release the small projectiles which would whizz into the air cutting through the wind as it raced towards it’s target sticking against the wood with a "Thnk!” nailing it’s target almost perfectly in the center. "Checkmate!” the girl would say with a pleased smile.

She’d been working on her aim thinking that practicing with Kunai would be a good way to work on her skills without expending the chakra when using her Dojutsu which she only would use when she felt necessary. After a moment she’d make her way towards the target board and pull the Kunai free walking back to the exact distance to try once more, however on this next attempt whilst it landed it was slightly off the mark the girl would analyze it and think to herself. "I see...I can land the bullseye but now I must work on doing it consistently.”

The chill wind wasn't an unusual weather pattern, but it did make it necessary to dress to keep the chill from seeping in to much. For Taji, this meant tugging a warm hat well down over his ears and wearing the warmest jacket he owned. The only addition to his attire as he left home was his fresh new headband emblazoned with the land of snow shinobi's symbol. It brought a smile to his features as he lifted it up to put it on. He ran into the problem of it not feeling right under his hat nor over top of it. After quite a bit of fumbling, he decided on wearing it like a scarf about his neck.

Adjusting it so it fit perfectly he exited his room with the intention to get some training in before meeting up with his new team. All he had to do was put his boots on and grab his pack, which he did as quickly as possible while assuring his mother he'd be home in time for dinner. Grabbing his pack to shrug it on made the quiver attached to the side jostle the arrows he'd painstakingly made the day before as he got the pack settled. With a quick grab of his bow and Taji could finally exit his home and head for the training grounds. The wind would even be a twist to force him to adjust to it which was fun too.

It was easy enough to amble his way through the snow to where he was headed, his amber eyes catching sight of purple among the snowdrifts. For a moment he just stood watching, curious to see what would happen. Kunai throwing, that was something he could get into. Kunai weren't new to him despite his usual tools being the bow and arrow but he was good with them too. At least he'd been good with them in a training situation, hunting game with kunai was a bit harder and wouldn't really take anything but rabbits or squirrel's down anyway.

As she walked back to try again he approached her, looking from her and to the target. He didn't want to be rude or interrupt but maybe he could offer a bit of help with her training. Maybe anyway. "Are you adjusting for the wind too? It might help, you know, even a small breeze can affect where a thrown object goes." Awkwardly his gaze slid back from the target to get a look at her now that he was closer. Hopefully, his comment wasn't out of line, but as a bukijutsu specialist he had a knack for projectiles of all varients so sharing his knowledge felt natural.

[attr="class","skullbody"]As the girl continued to throw her kunai moving towards the target and returning to her spot she’d notice someone arrive as she made her way back towards her throwing area. "Ah...quite...I hadn’t thought of that, excellent thinking…” with his wisdom in mind the young maiden would take her position and then after carefully placing the Kunai in her hand would wait for a gust of wind in order to tell which direction it was coming back on how it ruffled her jacket, and as the calm breeze passed by the girl had her answer and would quickly toss her Kunai aiming it with the wind in order for it to be swiftly carried towards the target. "Checkmate!” she’d exclaim.

"Shame on me for not thinking how much the trajectory of the projectile would be thrown off by the wind, such a careless mistake could cost me my life.” she’d turn towards the young man who had joined her. "Care to give it a whirl with your bow.” she’d step back and allow him to take the field. "I’d love to observe your form.” Jun was by no means an expert with weapons in any facet but had always found them to be fascinating during her studies in the academy.

As she walked back she’d take a step back and allow him room to take his shots. "I’ve been working on improving my accuracy and precision, I’m no expert but I’d like to think I do alright? I presume you fancy the bow a fine instrument really. Did you make it yourself? I prefer the staff if I'm being honest.” Jun who was something of an savant with the shinobi arts has wielded a bow once or twice on her own but she was no where near as adept as the others who had studied the craft far more feverently than herself and was eager to see what he could do.

A small smile tugged at his face when the advice he'd given was received positively and also helped her out too. He stood silently where he was so he didn't break her concentration, sharp amber eyes trained on the target she was aiming for. He was just as curious to see if the kunai made its mark this time. Because of his clans' penchant for using tools when hunting it was ingrained in him to hit what he was aiming at perfectly every time. Sure it didn't always end up that way but what his parents didn't notice saved him a lecture on being precise.

Therefore it was a relief when her kunai hit the target straight on. Her excitement about it was equally satisfying so he was happy he had been able to help her with it. "Well at least you're just training, less chance of the target attacking back." Plus in a team, a mistake like that could be covered by a teammate and was all a part of the learning. Taji was a bit surprised when she asked if he wanted a go and went on to say she wanted to observe his form. "Oh, um, sure. I can give it a go." He still wasn't used to using his weapon skills in front of others but he knew he had to get over any shyness quickly.

When she stepped back he awkwardly took her place to be squared off with the target. Her questions made him think as he drew an arrow and nocked it into place, two fingers cradling either side of the notched end. "I think you did alright, really, just forgetting the wind is no big deal when working to get better." As for preferring the bow, he supposed he did, it was at the very least a weapon he used a lot. In fact, he'd had one in hand since he was old enough to toddle around. A staff though? He'd not tried one of those before, most of his experience was in ranged weapons.

"The bow is definitely my comfort zone but I'm good with most thrown weapons too." Taji pulled the bow up and tugged the string back toward his ear as he did so. He went from looking rather sleepy to sharp and aware as he lifted the sharp tip of his arrow, shifting it to the right to counter the wind before releasing it. The arrow struck true and he was pleased to see it dead center of the target. Lowering his bow he looked to her again, nervously reaching up to rub at the side of his nose. "Do you practice a lot with your staff? I've never used one myself so I don't really know how they work, is it hard to maintain its balance?"

[attr="class","skullbody"]As her training partner took his position the youth would take a look at the way that he held his bow noting his expression and attitude, and would also reply to his remark. "While that’s true, fundamentals are important, if you can’t hit a target that’s standing still a moving target will be even harder, but I suppose I should test my mettle on a live opponent eventually.” she’d state.

As he took his stance the girl would observe the way he fired shot noting how he pulled his arrow back and suddenly just as he had his drawn back to the fullest extent the look in his eye would change as if the morning cobwebs in his eyes had vanished. "He’s focused now.” she’d note. "I wonder if he does that in combat also.” however just before he fired he made another statement.

"If that’s so then perhaps you can help me work on my aim.” she’d remark hearing the thunk of the arrow and then looking towards it to see that the marksman landed a perfect shot. "Yours is certainly impeccable.” she’d say giving him a few polite claps.

After shooting his shot he’d ask if the girl practiced a good deal with her staff. "I do every chance I get...I’d like to think I do rather well, the balance portion comes with time.” she’d glance over at it. "I was actually going to give her a few practices swings once I was done here.”

It was true what she was saying, hitting a target that wasn't moving was rather easy and should be able to be done. But things like that also had to be trained until one was good at it. Even someone like, him who had hunted since he was old enough to go out with his father, needed to train every day to hone his skills. "Practice helps with stuff like that though. My dad is always saying that hard work is the only way to perfect a skill."

Taji himself wasn't aware that his whole demeanor changed when he was focused on aiming correctly. He had trained with his family for so long that he needed to be completely focused or risk the wrath of his parents for slacking off. The super focus he got was to make entirely sure he hit what he was aiming at, no matter what. Missing wasn't an option really, at least not with the one weapon he was the most trained in.

Now that he was relaxed again his usual tired look came back to his face even with the smile that made its home there. "Sure I wouldn't mind helping you with that. I don't know if I'll be good help but it can't hurt since we're on the same team." His cheeks heated a little at the praise and he shrugged, shoulders barely seemingly to rise with his jacket on.

"Well, thanks. I've practiced a long time to be good at it." Instead of lingering over what she'd said about his skill he delved into her talking about using a staff. It was a weird weapon for him, long and unwieldy at least to him. It was interesting to hear her explain it to him. "Oh were you? Maybe you could show me. I've never really seen anyone use one before, my family does a lot more long-ranged weapons than close ones."

[attr="class","skullbody"]As the girl would listen to her companion speak he’d make a remark about something that his father would say about hard work perfecting a skill. "Your father sounds like a wise man.” she’d say commending the statement. She’d then pick up her staff after he had made his remark about the two of them being on the same team. "Are we...wait...are you Imagawa Taji?” the girl would state looking him over. "So you are...well it’s a pleasure to meet you!” she’d say turning and walking towards him.

He’d remark about how hard he worked with his staff and then another about how he’d like her to show him what she could do with her weapon. "I’d love too, now that I know you’re my teammate I simply must know everything about you!” the girl would twirl her staff about her body which would have an aura of fire surrounding it that would burn at it’s edges and begin to moisten some of the soft snow on the ground, almost like that of a fire twirler or a performer.

"If we’re going to be on the battlefield together I think it’s only fair that we get to see each others skills? What do you say? You show me your skills with a bow and I show you my skills with a staff, we can learn together.” the youth simply loved learning and discovering new things and it could be heard with the enthusiasm in her voice. And now with Taji’s revelation as her teammate she couldn’t wait to discover just what he could do and was eager to take him on.

A small smile came to Taji's face at her words, giving a little nod in return. His father really was a wise man, though he suspected he had learned much of what he knew from his mother. Not that he was ever going to inquire into the validity of that to either of his parents. When she was surprised by his comment his cheeks brightened to a red hue. He had inquired after her when the teams had been assigned and when he'd spotted her here he had thought it prudent to introduce himself, even if he hadn't quite gotten to that yet.

"Ah, yes, sorry. I'm Taji, I guess I should have said as much when I first arrived." Sometimes his manners flagged when he was focused on training matters such as aim. His curiosity over her form had topped manners almost immediately which was definitely something he had to work on. Luckily he agreed with her completely about wanting to know everything about her as well, seeing as they were to be teammates they needed to be in tune with one another. He was momentarily distracted by her twirling staff because of the fire which really piqued his interest.

The red flush on his face faded leaving just the nip the cold was causing as he listened. Learning from his teammate was exactly what he had hoped for when he'd been assigned one. Butting heads with others wasn't his style after all and he'd much rather they all get along from the get-go so they could each develop into fantastic shinobi. So her enthusiasm brought his sleepy smile back onto his face as he nodded. "I agree, I look forward to learning as well as sharing my skills too. Have you ever used a bow before?" That was an important question to ask before he even started to figure out how best to show her how to work one.

"If not I can show you how to use one, at least holding and aiming. It takes a lot of practice to get it down but I think it's not so bad." Swords, he imagined, were a much harder and daunting thing to learn in his mind. Perhaps that was simply because he was only used to long-range fighting and smaller bladed weapons like shuriken. This is likely why he found things like the staff she seemed to wield so easily a bit strange in his own hands. That would have to change if he was to be effective though. A shinobi had to be able to use a wide variety of weaponry just in case it was all that was available for use.

As her teammate spoke she’d notice his face turning red and would keep her smile plastered to her face. "No need to worry it’s past us now.” she’d remark. He’d then ask her if she knew how to use a bow. "I do to a degree but not to the level of proficiency that you do, though truth be told when I said show me your skills I was hoping we could spar.” she’d say with a bit of a smile as she removed her staff from off of the back of her jacket, igniting the staff as she stood before him.

Jun hadn’t really sparred too many people before but felt it’d be a good learning opportunity for her new teammates and give them a chance to bond as well as a means to get to know each others strengths and weaknesses, she’d never faced a bowman before and figured it’d be an interesting learning experience.

"Well what do you say?” the girl would say as the flames of her staff burned away at the snow slowly causing the melting substance to lump into the ground, she had hoped she wasn’t being too forward and was trying to be as friendly as she could, eagerly awaiting his response.
