This weeks mission was a straight forward one, it seemed. Though missions that seemed straight forward had a disturbing tendency to get more and more complicated the longer they went one. Interestingly, Kasumi was paired up with someone she had never worked with before. A genin on team one. Hopefully he wasn't a total pain, but Kasumi was ready for the worst.

She had a bad history with meeting new people these days. At least if he was a genin, she could kick his butt if he got too out of line. After the mission, of course.

Kasumi made her way to the gates, where they were supposed to meet the economist that they needed to guard on their trip. His name was in the mission briefing. Kazuma. No surname added, apparently for privacy reasons.

"Well, no use wasting time." She was early when she got to the gates, spotting a suspicious man standing by the gates. The man was looking at a small ledger book, with glasses closely shoved up the bridge of his nose.

Yeah, that was her dork for sure.

"Yo. You're Kazuma-san, yes? The other member of the team should be here soon. Then we'll head right out."

Hopefully the man was good at his job. If not, her and the genin partner she had would need to get creative with some persuasion.

Enyo could not believe what the Mizukage was thinking, or well he was assuming it was the Mizukage assigning these missions. Though, perhaps there was someone beneath him assigning missions to genin? Hard to determine, but he could not believe that he kept assigning him on missions with what was more or less riff-raff of the village. Enyo could not at all imagine why that would be the case, after all, he and his family were of great wealth, nobility, and not a small amount of notoriety. Who didn't know of a Kuronmeru, right?

"Hmph... Pain." The boy cooed to himself walking down the street. He was usually pretty prompt, and today was no exception. Missions were supposed to be taken semi-seriously after all. A C-Rank is more than a D-Rank. And it was obvious that the leadership of the village saw his potential as they kept assigning him higher-ranked missions despite his brand new status as a genin. He would become a chunin in no time at this rate. Though he would have preferred to take his older brothers out first. Of course, he had no idea if he would be able to pull that off with his brothers being several steps ahead of him almost all the time.

He arrived at the gates, checked himself out for the mission, and then approached, confidently. He was certain that this was his mission partner and the nerd with glasses was the economist.

"Good morning! Mmm you're Kasumi-chan?" He'd point at the economist and then look at the girl, "And you're Kazuma-san?" Yes, he was quite the jokester, even if his jokes were a bit on the malicious side. He didn't wait for confirmations, just started ahead.

"No time to waste, let's go."

Kasumi's new teammate wasn't late, which was a plus. Put him slightly above Kazue, at the least. When he introduced himself, though, she wondered if the pretty boy had the same brain in his head as Kazue did. Pointing at the nerd, calling him Kasumi and her Kazuma. Did he not see the headband at her hip? Tch. Silly little kid he was too! Was he like nine years old?

"You must be Enyo. Enyo... uh... the last name was something weird. Shoot. I forget. Lead the way, little guy."

Kasumi would follow behind the economist, taking a page from the jounin she'd just went on a mission with. If she was in the rear, she could look for attacks on both the kid and the client. Positioning was extremely important on missions like these.

"This your first mission, Enyo-chan? Don't worry buddy, I've been on lots. I've got your back."

The trip would be a decent amount of walking, but on the bright side there shouldn't be anyone specifically looking for them on the road, unlike her last escort mission with the princess. Kasumi's eyes would be peeled for attacks. The economist seemed to hardly care about either of them though, mumbling under his breath as he wrote more and more in that little ledger of his.

Enyo could not help but feel a small bit of pride, clearly, the girl was bothered by his commentary on account of having to come up with some kind of witty comeback for his name as well. Nobody forgot the Kuronmeru name, they had a terrifying kekkei genkai, it was nothing to laugh at and truly Enyo hoped he would get to utilize it for this particular mission. If not though, it would be a bit of a disappointment. But, only a bit. Enyo was not lazy, but if he did not have to maim himself in some manner to work his kekkei genkai, all the better.

He had been doing that one too many times in the last few missions anyway.

His brothers would likely think of him as some sort of weakling, well they already thought that but they hadn't looked in the mirror properly.

Enyo would look over his shoulder briefly as the girl spoke and counted on his fingers briefly.

"No, this is my fourth." So truth be told, he knew what he was doing more or less at least when it came to being outside of the village. It was to remain watchful, even if he still had a hard time doing so. His palm was placed against the hilt of his katana as they walked quietly into the mountainscape just north of their village and ultimately into the many roads. Fortunately, they all had arrows and signs pointing to the capital - since it wasn't actively a hidden village.

"Have you ever been to Kagamino no Shi? It's quite gorgeous this time of year." The tone was knowledgable but distinctly 'better' than 'you'.

The boy was knowledgeable, it seemed. His fourth mission ever, and he'd been to the land they were traveling to. As he described it as beautiful, Kasumi couldn't fight the small smile that crawled across her face. Seeing the world was definitely one of her life long goals at this point, and all these missions lately made it easy to experience into reality.

"I haven't been before. Not that I remember, at least. I'm excited to see it. You'll have to show me around, Enyo-chan."

Either Kasumi was too dense to pick up on his better than you attitude, or she chose to ignore it even though it was seeping into his tone and body language. It was hard to tell.

The walk was rather calm. A few times they were passed by travelers that gave them sideways glances. Most would scurry along the moment they realized that Kasumi and Enyo were ninja though. Regular civilians were certainly wise enough to know not to pick a fight with Kirigakure. As they made their way into Kagamino no Shi, Kasumi and Kazuma would quickly realize that Enyo was right. The place was gorgeous. They weren't tourists, though.

"We made it. Enyo-chan, do you know where the place is we're supposed to go? We can look around if you don't, but you've been here before. Kazuma, you ready to make your pitch?"

Looking at the economist, it was clear the man was sweating. Like he was nervous or something.

Well, Kasumi was getting a little bit ahead of herself in asking or rather telling Enyo that he would have to show the city to her. She could look at it for herself, Enyo had no intentions of 'exploring' it with her. It had been a thing his father and older brother had shown to him many years ago. When they used to travel more as a family... When Enyo had not been labeled as incapable of honing the kekkei genkai. Things had been different for a while now, but Enyo clung to these memories hard as if they were the last bits of his sanity clinging on.

After a several hour-long journey they would arrive in the city. It was just as beautiful as Enyo remembered, covered in mirrors and diamonds. It shimmered aesthetically and delightfully. Just the kind of place Enyo loved.

"Did you not read the mission brief?" He chimed in at the question his voice soft as a bell, but the tone of judgment and superiority remained. A sigh of exasperation and he would lead the other two to where the economist was supposed to be presenting his ideas. It was a grand hall, and many nobles had already collected there.

"I'm much nicer dressed than you," He would look up and down Kasumi shrewdly. "So it's best I announce Kazuma-san." And with that, he would once again lead the way, and after a short strut up the middle aisle, he would reach the front of the room and turn around.

"Noble ladies and noble lords! I am Kuronmeru Enyo, a noble, much like yourself. But, I also am a shinobi and I am here to present to you Kirigakure's grand economist Kazuma-san! Please listen well to him and make smart choices!" He would announce to those that were there for the meeting, the last part well, he finished it up with a giggle as his fingers and palm moved to wrap around once again the pommel of his katana.

Was it a threat? Maybe.

Kasumi was slowly starting to catch on to the young boy's attitude problem, raising a brow as he asked if she had read the brief. Of course she had, she just had never been here before! It was smarter to let him lead if he had more experience with the area. Sheesh. Some genin these days really didn't have that great of a head on their shoulders. If she'd learned anything, though, it was best to lead by example and take the high road. So she didn't retort.

Of course when they got there, he made a comment about how she dressed that made Kasumi look down at her clothes and feel a moment of insecurity. "What's wrong with my clothes..?"

No time to dwell on that, though, soon enough they were in front of the nobles and introducing their charge. Kasumi straightened her back, resting her own hand on her sword as her narrowed eyes surveyed the room.

As Kazuma-san started his stuttery speech about the economy and profits and things that frankly were putting Kasumi and the nobles to sleep, she spotted a kid peeking out of the door behind the noble. A little girl, but her eyes were fixed on Enyo.

Careful not to disrupt the pitch- the pitch was going poorly- she nudged Enyo, nodding her head towards the girl that was about his age.

"You have a secret admirer. I think that's the nobles daughter."

The stupid economist started talking, and he wasn't doing a very good job at selling the idea. He seemed to bumble along, to the point of where Enyo quite literally and very visibly rolled his eyes standing there. It seemed that all of this would have to be taken into their hands.

He was about to move in on the idea when Kasumi decided it intelligent to comment about how he had a secret admirer. His ego, easily fueled by even the smallest amount of genuine appreciation the boy looked around until he saw the girl poking her head out to look at him. Enyo smirked at her, candidly, devilishly. When he noticed her blush, he would leave her high and dry on the entire little 'encounter' if you could call it that. He only wanted her to feel embarrassment and some sort of acceptance by the noble youth.

Enyo sniffled a bit, and just then noticed that some of the noble individuals started to filter out, others continued to listen. Despite the bumbling speech, they seemed like they could be interested enough in the concept. But others, not so much. Enyo decided to take that into his own hands and started to move in on the job.

He would step outside, pursuing a singular particularly rich-looking noble to try and corner him.

Kasumi watched as Enyo brushed off the little crush that appeared in front of them. She'd thought maybe they could use it to their advantage some way, but she wasn't above more base tactics. The talk of economics was boring her to death, though, and she needed to do something.

Enyo was following one of the wealthy men that was as bored as Kasumi and leaving. She trusted he'd be able to get the point across on his own. Kasumi decided to go with her original gut feeling and walk towards where the shy blushing girl had disappeared to.

Luckily, the nobles were either too focused on the talking or too spaced out to notice her wandering nature. She spotted the girl quickly, smiling a friendly smile.

"Hey, you," Kasumi said to the girl quietly, stepping closer, "my friend out there, the boy. He wanted me to pass a message to you. He said he thinks you're really adorable, and if your dad agrees to this deal he hopes he can see you more often. Your dad was out there, wasn't he?"

The girl lit up like a light bulb, clearly buying the story easily. Kasumi smiled a bit smugly at her plan. If Enyo's was working too, then there was a good chance they could wrap this up nice and tidy.

It took a few alleyways but eventually, Enyo dragged and shoved the pain into an alleyway. Blood ominously floated in the air as he threatened the man. A kunai out as he pressed it against the man's neck.

"Now wait a minute, why did you leave that meeting so quickly?" He asked, cooing and awing at the man with a pretty little smile. The man on the other hand wasn't so pleased, in fact, he looked damn terrified of having a literal knife on his neck.

"B-B.."

"B-B... What?"

"It's not of interes-st-t-t to m-m-me."

"Oh, it better be of interest. In fact, you better go back and agree and donate as much as is asked of you." Enyo threatened pressing the kunai a little further into the man's neck.

"You see, it's not an option. And you better convince all your little friends to do the same or else we are going to have more issues than just a knife to your neck." Once the man nodded, Enyo would release him. For a pipsqueak, he wasn't so easy to fend off. The blood would fall splattering onto Enyo's shoulders. The man would be free to go, and he would unsurprisingly move quickly back towards where the economist had been making his speech.

Satisfied, Enyo followed after him at a much more relaxed pace.

Kasumi returned to the big room of investors and their own economist. She saw the little girl running up to one of the nobles, whispering in his ear. The older man rolled his eyes, but the moment he saw the younger girls sad looking eyes Kasumi knew that the plan had worked.

Kasumi spotted the man that had scurried out return too, and knew that Enyo had done something there. This was good.

The last piece was to make sure that the information was clear and concise. Kasumi stood behind Kazuma, tapping his back a little roughly with the hilt of her sword. The man looked at her, a little confused but waiting patiently for an explanation.

"Tell them exactly what we're looking for from them. I think they're all in agreement that making allies with Kirigakure is in their best interest, right?"

Kasumi eyed the room with an intimidating glare, hand still on the hilt of her sword. Most of the room had already turned to their side.

Kazuma took the time to put an exact number on what their village was looking for from the investors. It seemed that they were going to agree quickly, and without a fuss. At least it seemed that way.

All seemed to be going as planned, Enyo had returned to the building and watched the noble he had 'convinced' to return take a seat. The economist had started to talk about something else. Something or other about what the village was looking for from these nobles, these good investors that would certainly do their part in boosting not only the village but ultimately their own country. They would see in time how generous donations such as these, would ultimately pay them back all in due time. It would come back, all these sorts of things returned. Perhaps their very benevolent leader would do some tax breaks for the rich. That would be good for Enyo's family too.

Once the economist was done with his extremely long and boring speech, he would offer the nobles to line up so that they can write down information by which they could make their donations. No credit cards exist after all, so the withdraws would have to be done in a slightly different way with letters, and official paperwork. But it would be seen that the boost would happen quickly after.

Enyo just stood there though his arms folded making sure no one left the building until they wrote their name down for a sum amount.

With Enyo back and things finally calming down a bit, Kasumi would stand next to the boy. She folded her arms and smiled wide as the nobles all wrote their names on the paper. A few made eye contact with them, then changed their numbers a bit realizing the situation they were in. All in all, it seemed they'd done more than enough to earn their pay on this one.

"We make a pretty good team, kid. Maybe we can team up again in the future or something."

Yes, the boy was often irritating, but Kasumi didn't mind a little bit of friction in her life. She was never one to sit around and calmly sip tea or the like.

"I think that's everyone. We should get out of here quickly, then, since we have the commitments. Don't let any of them get any stupid ideas. Let them get their heads on right."

If Enyo agreed, Kasumi would call out to Kazuma. Signalling that it was high time for them to get back home and report the success of their mission.

Truly it might have been a better idea for Kasumi to remain near their poor economist who still looked like he was flop sweating through the situation. It made sense, he wasn't in a particularly good state being in front of a semi-annoyed mob. Though at this point the mob was more or less threatened into compliance and would not have much choice in their fate. Of course, some of the nobles had willingly donated and were totally oblivious to the tensions of the other nobles were facing or feeling, but it was irrelevant.

The young girl from earlier gave Enyo a wave, and he smiled at her. Waving back, flickering his fingers playfully before folding his arms across his chest. Tucking opposite arm into the opposite big sleeve.

"Fine by me." He didn't need to stick around here longer than absolutely necessary. After all, if they had done their job correctly, well it was just about time they left. At least they could get out of here without getting lost too since Enyo knew his way around well enough to find the exit to the village easily enough.

Once Kasumi motioned he would turn and begin to walk off. Kazuma would join their side soon after with several scrolls with names on them that he was carefully tucking away into his travel satchel.

Enyo waved at the little girl again, and Kasumi couldn't help but chuckle at that interaction. Not to mention the sweating economist, who was out on his own there clearly suffering. Kasumi didn't care to hold his hand through this, though. He'd learn in his own time.

"Maybe we can come back here sometime. Looks like you've made yourself a friend already."

The kid was quiet, and she didn't expect a response to her teasing. Instead, she just gathered up the economist and Enyo and started them back on track to get home. She was very careful to ensure the sweating man was taking good care of the ledger. As they made their way back, Kasumi would be on guard for any attacking bandits or something more sinister. It'd be a shame to make it this far and lose their progress to a lack of attention.

When they finally did make it back, Kasumi would bid farewell to the boy after making sure the details were handled properly.

"Another mission accomplished. Soon, they'll start giving me some challenging ones."

Of course she was being generous to herself. There were plenty of missions that led her to having close calls. C ranks were no children's walk in the park or anything. She had some scars and memories to prove that.
