Round Three: Combat
The genin, following the second round, would receive the results, and also receive brand new accommodations in their new place of stay - Kagamino no Shi. The rules remained the same, do not leave the village, no scuffles. Three weeks of rest were afforded, however, adding up to almost an entire month. In that time, smart genin would train without excessive exertion. Some would re-establish what they already knew.
The day would finally come, twenty-two contestants remained to represent their villages and bring glory to them through combat. Like most days in the mountain valley, the day was grey, though no mist had settled over the city today as the stadium filled up to the brim with an audience.
No expense was spared in the construction of the beautiful arena, it was huge, and whilst the center of it showed off a more stable ground, the area all around it was filled up with water, but all of this was locked behind an exceptionally sturdy but clear material. It almost looked like a projection from one's wildest dreams. The water moved and flowed inside, along with several large and small colorful fish. Truly a spectacle on its own.
It was decided, that each contestant would participate in three fights. Though, who they would be facing off against was a mystery until the moment they were announced in the huge stadium. The tournament all-in-all would take over the span of three days. Each day, the contestants would fight someone new. For those injured, medical shinobi stood by to help and heal immediately as to prepare them for the day after.
Each fight had a time limit of one hour [two-weeks OOCly]. This was to prevent fights from becoming stand-offs. These fights were also announced as being to the death, or alternatively, if one side conceded or could not fight anymore - that is not being able to stand up or having exhausted their chakra supply. What mattered most in this round was strategy, however, not victory. A more savvy and intelligent individual might prevail over those who possessed better rudimentary combat skills - if they could prove it and show it.
Before the beginning of the fights, all of the participants would be rounded up at the center of the arena stood in a line. A hush would wash over the arena as a young man with white hair walked up to an elevated podium at one of the highest points of the arena. He did not shout, for a pen could be heard dropping in the arena. He wore the robes of a leader, marking him as the Mizukage.
"
Welcome.
You have braved deadly poisons, and exhausting journeys to come here. You have fallen and you got back up again. You are fearless, even when you are afraid. That is why you are here. You are shinobi, it is your job to stand even when life has broken you down. When life has broken us down. We come from different villages, but we are united by this one fact.
This fact is what makes us powerful. So powerful that God's would fear us, envy us. Envy us, because we are mortals. Each moment, each breath you take, even now may be your last. Take it in. Revel in it. Find glory in this.
Look to the sky, do not limit your potential. There is nothing you can't do."
It was a short speech but meant to inspire desire and action in the lined-up genin who would then be split into two groups and each taken into a different bunker area. They would be able to watch the fights as they went on. One shinobi from each bunker of twelve would be let out to fight before being allowed to rest and spectate if not egregious injuries were sustained.
[Below is a list of the matches in the order they would happen ICly.]

Arena Description
This arena is very similar to konoha's chuunin exam arena (from the series) in size, it is themed, however. The center is quite large, but is made of sturdy earth covered in grass and standard non-grassy areas. The area surrounding the center is made of a clear material, it is close to impossible to destroy and is protected by fuuinjutsu so fighting on it IS allowed. It is as smooth as glass, and therefore is quite slippery likely requiring tree climbing to stick to it effectively. There are no obstructions. There are quite high stone walls leading up to the bleachers of civilians, participant escorts, and all others who traveled to watch the event. There are dramatically arched doors on either side in the shapes of koi fish meeting in the middle - each lead into a bunker which serves as a waiting area for other contestants. A small cut in the wall with a thick glass window allowed the contestants to watch each others fights. Perhaps take notes and formulate future strategies.
