"Unfortunate Circumstances: My Odds Are Worse Than Yours!"

When Ikana was presented before a seeming mystery opponent, she had to question how this was possible, and why it was. It was supposed to be an examination of seeming skill and battle prowess. Now, she was being put up against a mystery opponent. One she imagined she had no knowledge about. Meanwhile, she assumed they knew everything about her, her abilities, and her skills. That was a dangerous thing. Lack of information. Walking into the arena, she comes in dressed in a blue and white haori with a cloak adorned around her shoulders. As she steps down into the arena, she takes a deep breath, adjusting the short wakizashi she held by her side. Her Kirigakure headband firmly tied around her head. She seemed rather serious and grim, a dull expression on her face. There seemed to be dark rings underneath the young child's eyes.

It wasn't as if this was one of the most important examinations in her life or anything like that. No biggie. Taking a deep breath, she tightens her right fist, as she gives a cough lightly into the balled fist. Her opposite hand resting lightly along her chest. The Kirigakure genin was short, unassuming at glance, but she had to question the implications, the meaning of why she was brought here to a mysterious entity. Oh well. As she had told someone once before, there was no use complaining about something that wasn't going to change.

It was time to see it through. Now, it was time to see who she was up against.

Profile: Nakatani Ogi

It was Ogi’s second attempt at the Chuunin exams. She knew what to expect, more or less. Her opponent was a mystery. She knew very little about the other contestants, and she would be lying if she told anyone she wasn’t at least a little worried about it. Her barrier specialties were very niche, and it wouldn’t work with some opponents. If she landed poor odds, this fight would be it for her.

She didn’t want to think about it. Her face calmed as she took in a deep breath. She had the experience of an advanced Genin. She’d been on several missions and had worked hard to get to where she was. The only thing she had to do now was show it.

With light pink hair tied in a bow and fierce amethyst eyes, she presented herself to her opponent. A small girl, surprisingly so, stood before her. Ogi was conflicted. Her brows furrowed. "You’re my opponent…you’re just a child…” she said with a slight cock in her head and a curious grin.

She wouldn’t take her opponent too lightly. She’d made it this far in the exams, so she had at least a little fight in her.

"Well, I can’t afford to lose this time around,” Ogi said taking a deep but loose stance. "May the best win!”

May the best win the Kusagakure Genin declared. Ikana stood opposing her opponent, a pinkette with stunning purple eyes. "Hai." She declares to herself, and with it seems to take deep breaths, hoarse, heavy, and labored. Before the girl raises her right hand to her mouth and coughs again. Though this time, as she did, she seems to keel and cough the color crimson. Several droplets and splotches falling into the dirt and soil. The coughing fit seems to go on for just a while longer, before the young genin rises, a small line of red long her lips, which is slowly wiped away along her sleeve. Her right hand drifting back underneath her cloak. There was little need to speak. Little need to say much of anything, because in this instance, it was two ninja fighting to the potential death.

Ikana came to accept that. 

To her opponent, Ikana may look not just like a small child, but also seemingly weakened and in a poor state of health. In reality, ketchup packets at least from a distance could seem rather realistic from a distance. Her right hand dropping them into a pocket along her cloak. The intention here was to do two things. Either increase sympathy for the child that they saw Ikana as. Or, alternatively, to get her opponent increasingly confident, and aggressive in leading the assault. That, and to put on a little seeming show for the observers, including those above. After all, that would be a good story wouldn't it?

A child underdog, despite seeming grievous ailment or injury pulling through to give a fantastic battle? It was time to see how her opponent would react to the tantalizing bait. Ikana shifts her weight, and places her right hand along the handle of her small blade. She was ready to act at a moment's notice.

Profile: Nakatani Ogi

Ogi’s face showed her clear confusion as a battle within herself pursued. The girl before her seemed ill. Her purple hues didn’t budge, remaining locked on her opponent even as she coughed up blood. A part of Ogi didn’t even want to fight at this point. In what way was an opponent like this supposed to let her show her skills? Ikana seemed beaten and bruised, overtaken by whatever ailment plagued her, and yet Ogi was in peak condition, and likely twice her opponent’s age.

It didn’t seem fair, but that was the opponent she was given. Ogi, however, wasn’t one to rush into a fight. No, she had brains enough to know better, and her barrier jutsu wasn’t really meant to be used in such a manner. Reactive, at best, the Kusa genin clearly shined in more defensive maneuvers.

However, the clock was ticking, and with the start of their battle, Ogi couldn’t afford to wait any longer. As the red on Ikana’s sleeve showed, Ogi burst forward. She was going to see just what kind of specialization this girl had to offer.

Ogi formed several handseals, but her chakra remained still. She would reach out her fist with open fingers in an attempt to grab towards Ikana as she approached, aiming for the neck of the seemingly sickly girl. Should she be able to grab it, Ikana would be surprised to find that a jutsu was not actually used. Whether Ikana managed to dodge or not remained to be seen, but either way Ogi would quickly follow up with a punch to the solar plex.

Not everything needed to be revealed within the first few seconds of combat. If anything, Ogi wanted to feel her opponent before becoming too serious. How would Ikana respond to this atypical approach?

First aspect of Shinobi combat. Taijutsu. As her opponent came in, weaving handseals for some jutsu Ikana didn't recognize, Ikana looked on with a focused eye as her opponent approached. Ikana gauged that whatever jutsu her opponent was casting, it was a close range technique. Otherwise, her opponent would have wanted to maintain the distance. So, as her opponent advanced, extending a hand out to reach her, Ikana slides her right foot back, grounding it into the ground before she taps her left wrist with her right palm. A poof of smoke as Ikana swings horizontally out with a Kunai that seemingly poofs out at a moment's notice. Lightning Flash Seal Creation.

If it came down to a battle of speed, the fastest Shinobi was usually the winner, or more so, the one that hit first. She attempts to slash the pinkette across the palm and fingers, with her fast slash, not looking to maim her, though she could have, and instead deliver a harsh blow that would make it incredibly difficult to use the hand, to form handseals in general. Assuming Ikana succeeded in this cut, the young child leaps backwards to further gain distance as she forms swift handseals, stopping as she raises her right hand into the air. Any Shinobi of Kirigakure would realize the jutsu she was performing in her mind.

"Hiden. Kirigakure no Jutsu!" An eerie sound fills the air as a thick mist begins to roll into the arena. So thick was this mist that one would be unable to see past their own hand. One that would obscure Ikana from sight and leave her opponent swallowed by what might seem to be an eerie feeling of desolation from her environment. Such was intentional. If her enemy was wounded, in pain, and bleeding from her hand, it would only leave it to be a matter of time until she bled out. That, and the pain. The young Kiri child travels through the mist, her eyes closed, using her mind's eye and her senses to keep ahead.

NAME: Kuchiyose: Raikō Kenka - [Summoning: Lightning Flash Blade Creation]

DESCRIPTION:

An advanced version of Hikin Fuinjutsu, in which objects that are sealed within their respective holders are branded with a special formula. This particular seal allows its wielder to call upon whatever is placed in the seal with a simple touch of the marker, instantly bringing the weapon into one's hand at the ready. The technique works to cut the time it would normally take to summon and wield a weapon by having the seal in a place of easy access, such as upon straps on one's wrist or the wrists themselves, being able to summon and use a weapon in a seamless moment. Summoning is not as straight forward as the child technique, however, as wired contraptions can be called upon, instantly winding and attaching the wire to one's hand the moment it is summoned.

Profile: Nakatani Ogi

That speed.

Ogi was certainly caught off guard, her eyes widened, quickly realizing that Ikana had feigned at least some of the weakness being portrayed. She managed to her arm back, but the tip of Ikana’s conjured kunai clipped her knuckles, splattering blood across the ground. Ogi eyed the wound, assessing it quickly. It wasn’t too deep, but it was enough to twinge if she needed to perform a seal.

"What a cheap trick…” Mist began to form around them, and Ogi felt the world around her begin to disappear, as did her opponent. "You’re not weak…you’re just a coward,” she said mockingly as she quickly formed two handseals. A barrier of armor formed around her. A costly jutsu, Ogi knew if she couldn’t see her opponent coming, she would need at least some added protection against attacks.

Amethyst eyes watched closely, not at the silhouette of a figure, but at the mist itself, watching for subtle twirls of wind that could be seen if movement forced them to part. "Alright. I’ll play.”

She then quickly formed another barrier, this time at her backside made of compressed air. She couldn’t protect herself at all sides, but if Ikana went for her back, she wouldn’t get far with it. Ogi kept her fists up and lose. She couldn’t see…but Ikana couldn’t hold this forever either.

NAME: Kekkai no Yoroi (Barrier Armor)

DESCRIPTION:
The user creates a small barrier on the very outside of their skin. While this barrier is not anywhere near as resilient as other barriers because of how stretched thin it is, a normal punch being able to break it, it does protect the user from the brunt of all but the most serious attacks. Its effectiveness comes from the fact that it requires no chakra to maintain and is self repairing. However while repairing it is no longer effective and requires two whole post for the armor to becoming functional again after being hit with anything resembling an actual attack, though being hit with things that would not truly count as an attack would not break it. Requires two hand seals.

DESCRIPTION:
The user can form this technique at any point on their body. Creating a small bubble of chakra, the user compresses an amount of air until the pressure is rather significant. When this bubble is burst, the trapped air pushes the assailant back with surprising force, equal to a standard punch from an average male shinobi. This technique is usually used to defend against physical attacks without expending too much chakra.

Ikana in truth was not the greatest of practitioners of the Kirigakure no Jutsu. Though she had trained in it and had began honing her other skills in order to compensate for the weaknesses she held. Ikana listened for her opponent. She focused deeply and determined her opponent had not yet moved. Instead. It seemed more as if her foe was on the defensive. Preparing herself for some sort of inevitable assault that seemed yet to come. Ikana would have said that such an idea was very wise. Except now, it was time to initiate the next phase of the plan. All Ikana needed was to inflict more wounds. For that? Ikana had the power to sway the odds. 

A single handseal is formed, and a clone forms beside the young child with a poof of smoke. Even if Ikana was fighting relatively blind? So was her opponent, and in this particular instance, the side with the greater numbers usually prevailed. The twin Ikana proceed to gauge the general location of the older Kusa girl. Within a moment's notice, she would hear the sounds of whirring metal. A small horde of twenty Shuriken fly towards her from seeming left, right, and center. As a barrier rested to Ogi's back, it would be a likely lovely box to keep her back safe, but her retreat limited.

Then next came ten Kunai. Slightly delayed. One throw after another. However, this time, whether deflected or blocked by any would be jutsu,  they would begin to lightly smoke. A few precious moments before five of them violently explode due to the paperbomb that rest tied upon them. As this assault blared, the Ikanas both moved. Listening for the sounds of clashing weapons, but also using it as cover for their own movements as they changed position and prepare to advance. Ikana at this point was confident that she didn't need to crush her opponent in the slightest. All the little Kiri child had to do was outlast her. Focus on wounding her more.

NAME: Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Shadow Clone Technique]

DESCRIPTION:

The Kage Bunshin technique evenly distributes your chakra between one or more clones with form and substance.



The clones created by this technique are able to utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows, has all of their special abilities, as well as their kekkei genkai. Typically a clone's equipment doesn't retain any special abilities and the clone itself is dispersed when hit with a single attack or incapacitated, although the clone can also choose to disperse itself or be dispersed by the user.



When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained along with it's remaining chakra are passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones.

Profile: Nakatani Ogi

Oga kept her senses sharp, watching the crowded mist for any signs of shadows or movement, but her vision was clouded and distorted by the heavy flowing mist that surrounded her. So, this was the power of a mist shinobi. She would admit she was impressed.

With her armored barrier surrounding her and an additional barrier at her back, she felt mostly protected, but Oga was unaware of the incoming barrage of shuriken and kunai coming her way. Oga could hear a swoosh, a familiar sound of winding breaking on the form of a kunai. She rolled to the side, her amethyst eyes darting to the kunai that landed next to her only to immediately widen as she quickly jumped away.

An explosion sounded, sending her flying back more than her jump would have originally taken her. One after another the barrage of ninja weapons came through. Oga knew she couldn’t simply stop the kunai’s throw. She had to dodge. The explosions continued, one after another.

Oga could feel her stamina quickly draining.
With minor burns now on her hands and a moderate burn on her left hip, she was being worn down.

Her face grimaced as she clenched her jaw. She couldn’t just sit here in the mist like this. Oga removed a kunai from her pouch and rushed forward, light and as silent as she could on her feet in order to hide her advance. The kunai seemed to have come from several locations, which meant that Ikana was doing her bet to confusing Oga and to hide her location. Smart. Oga needed to confuse Ikana as well.

Oga’s kit wasn’t meant to fight a hidden opponent. No…she needed to see them. Just how long could Ikana keep up this mist? She’s used a lot of weapons…what else could she do?

The girl swooped down and picked up several pieces of debris caused by the explosions, chucking them in various locations on the battlefield by lightly rolling them. It would sound like someone kicking a rock as they ran. She hoped it would make Ikana lose Oga’s location, but only time would tell.

Ikana was used to mists like these throughout her short lifetime, especially as she frequented the wilderness, and of course, she grew up in Kirigakure no Sato. There were days where the rolling mists might make a person feel as if they were lost in another world. This was no different. As the twin Ikana launched their barrage of ninja tools, hearing the blasts rain out through the mist, the repeated explosions would cause the mist to gradually clear from the burst of force outwards, and that was ideal for Ikana. While she'd been training her senses, she was still not so proficient or confident in her skill and ability to fight nearly blind. No. All Ikana imagined was that her opponent would be further damaged. Drained. In pain.

This was a semi war of attrition one could imagine. In an odd sort of way, or rather, one might imagine it was a war of general dirtiness, scummy tactics, the means of attaining victory. Ikana waited in the lingering cloud, listening, focusing, and as she did, she formed a handseal sequence, focusing her chakra as she took a deep breath. Listening to the sound of shifting stones, Ikana had come to a simple solution to the problem she faced. If she couldn't pinpoint her opponent in the mist, she would simply launch an attack that was so large in scale, it would be impossible to dodge. Her chest puffs up to an almost inane degree, before the young girl exhales.

She releases a jet of water from her mouth that grows large, and tall, nearly fifteen feet tall, and rather wide in the general direction of the Kusa Nin. The wave rolls along the ground before rising ever higher as a tall wave, threatening to wash over the girl with surprising force. A powerful jutsu, Ikana finds herself standing back, taking deep breaths as her clone was the one to continue the advance then. Attempt to catch the pinkette in the aftermath of being washed up and away. If she was. All the while, the real Ikana lingered back, slowly receding farther back from the battlefield in order to recuperate and regain strength. Let the clone do the work and gain knowledge ahead.

Description:

Suijinheki is a Ninjutsu utilizing the Water Element. The ninja will first do a string of hand seals and then proceed to blow out a jet of water from their mouth to act as a water barrier from incoming attack.

Profile: Nakatani Ogi

Amethyst eyes glared. Oga was running out of options. It figured she would be pitted against someone who nearly completely countered her techniques. Oga had managed to protect the repel barrier at her back, but her armor had dissipated. Likely, it had protected her from further damage from the explosions.

Through the mist she could hear running water. Eyes slanted, she watched carefully, widening as she saw a wall of water rushing towards her as it broke through the mist. Oga quickly formed handseals of her own, placing a barrier on the ground which she immediately hopped onto the barrier which launched her in the air. Oga used the momentum of the trampoline to hurdle over the wall of water, landing roughly but safely on the other side.

With this attack, Oga could now pinpoint what she believed was the location it was cast. With this attack, however, it seemed the mist have been pushed almost entirely away from the battlefield, or at least heavily thinned in most areas of the arena, swept away by the water and with the momentum it created brushing away nearby mist. Amethyst eyes landed on two figures, shifting between them momentarily confused.

So, this was how she was doing it. A clone.

The direction of the water had come from the one she was currently facing.

In that case.

Oga rushed forward, forming the needed handseals to place a reinforced barrier around her fist. As she neared the real Ikana, she struck hard outward, aiming at the girl solar plex. Oga quickly followed up with a leg sweep whether her punch missed or not.

NAME: Kekkai: Gantoretto (Barrier: Gauntlets)

CHAKRA USAGE: Low
DESCRIPTION:
Forming a barrier around their fist, the user adds the hardness of the barrier to their punch, giving it extra power. However, after several solid strikes, the barrier with shatter like glass. The barrier can withstand and dole out as much damage as a normal C rank ninjutsu. Anything more will cause the barrier to explode destructively potentially injuring the users fist. However the user can cause the barrier to explode prematurely these controlled explosions could cause damage to anyone in contact with them, this is much safer for the user as they control the explosion and it coming from the inside means that their fist is spared from the blast. Requires four hand seals.

Ikana had played much more tactically compared to her first round, and frankly, in this instance, as she looked upon her foe, she felt as if she could crumble the entire world in but a moment's notice. She felt as if she was getting tired of playing. This was the defining moments where Ikana could go from being a little genin, a child, into a real ninja. As Ogi began to approach her, dashing towards her as swiftly as she could, her hands singed and burned, a fist likely lightly caked in dried blood, the young Ikana stopped pretending. Standing a little taller, more composed, she crossed her arms over her chest as she listened to the sound of footsteps through water.

The true intention of her water wall wasn't to flood and slam into Ogi, though if it had, it would have been most beneficial. The true reason was for Ikana to have more cues to notice. Ikana's clone stood by to watch, not intercepting her as she ran for the smaller Kirigakure genin. Her foe punches outward with a barrier encased fist towards her smaller chest, looking to knock the wind out of her, perhaps break a rib, to inflict pain and suffering. Ikana on the other hand uses that moment to pivot and sidestep, leaning into the older girl, jutting her elbow into her stomach in a tensed motion, her back pressing into the older girl to prevent her from freely moving her legs. 

The young Ikana rests in the frame of Ogi for a moment, and with it, the young Ikana slams her fist down along Ogi's burnt thigh in a swift chopping motion with her tensed elbow arm, to send a fresh wave of pain spiraling through her body, looking to send her stepping and stumbling back. From the pain. Ikana's double during this frame would simply encircle and surround Ogi now. "You wrapped your hand in that strange jutsu because it would hurt too much to punch me without it. Didn't you?" Ikana asked, looking at every single weakness and wound she could exploit. The brunette seemed dull in expression.

"Please. Give up. You've fought admirably. We're all here to advance, which is why I've been fighting with the full intention to win. No matter what. I give you respect Nee-San. However, you can't beat me. Not with how wounded you are."

Profile: Nakatani Ogi

Ogi smirked confidentially. She may have been in pain, but she wasn’t one to give up. Quickly and efficiently, she formed another barrier at her stomach. As Ikana would jut her elbow into Ogi’s stomach, it would be met with a hard barrier. Depending on the force Ikana had used to try and wind Ogi, she would find herself with a rather battered elbow as the force of the barrier would explode around her and rebel the force back at her. At this same moment, Ogi would tap Ikana on the shoulder with a single finger. This would create a barrier around Ikana’s entire body, and trap her there for a brief moment. The force of the repelling barrier and her body being trapped in place would cause Ikana to take the brunt of the explosive damage from the bubble of air from Ogi’s attack. Instead of it pushing her away, Ikana would take the full force of it unless she had another trick of her sleave.

Ogi used the moment that Ikana was forced in place with the barrier to make distance yet again. It seemed with Ikana’s speed, fighting up close wasn’t the wisest of options. A perfect counter to Ogi’s techniques. It was just her luck.

At this point, however, Ogi was quickly running out of chakra. She was never blessed with a surplus, and her chakra control was average at best. Her breathing was heavy, and she was feeling the pain in her body from the barrage of attacks Ikana had offered. Ogi wasn't sure just how much longer she could last.

DESCRIPTION:

DESCRIPTION:
Making physical contact with the target, the user creates a barrier silhouetting their entire body, stopping their movement for a second. However the barrier has only the consistency of thin glass and anyone with average strength would easily break out of it after the initial moment of shock.

Ikana up until this point had been calculated, thought she knew all there was to see. However, she'd never heard of jutsu that could be cast without handseals before. As her elbow slammed into the barrier, she didn't expect for a full fledge punch force burst out from it, not that she was expecting it at all. As the thin barrier formed around her, yes, Ikana may have been hit with the force of the punch, but the barrier was very thin, and very fragile in comparison, being very spread out and covering Ikana's entire body. It likely shattered as soon as she was trapped in it. A "lick in" Nagatani Ogi would deliver, as the young Kirigakure genin steps backwards, her foot stumbling for a moment before it slides and roots into the ground. 

Her head rears back for a moment, looking upwards, as her left arm instinctively spasms from the nerves that were flaring off from the feeling of the blow. However, the young Ikana simply clenched her fist, and with it, she takes a deep breath, and an exhale. She'd been through worse. Hard as it might be to believe. Deciding to take advantage of the moment, she utilizes her enhanced speed to its fullest. Rushing forward almost like in a drunken haze, she closes the distance and performed a shooting high kick into the air, Ikana's hands resting along the ground and aiming for the pinkette's chin. The young Ikana attempts to send her flying backwards and into the air as Ikana's clone acts then.

It dashes with surprising force and speed to appear before the pinkette, looking to perform a spinning tornado kick into her chest into the now wet and muddy ground, causing her to skid and roll as the clone performs its own handseal sequence at fast speeds. Hoping to show off a ninjutsu the young Kirigakure Genin had never shown anyone yet. It ends with its hands outstretched towards her foe. "Suiton: Suirou no Jutsu!" Looking to use the water from her own wall, and the environment she'd created, the tall and rampant water would rapidly look to rise and encapsulate her opponent. To trap her in a ball of water that's inside was said to be harder than steel.

Name:Suirou no Jutsu - [Water Prison Technique]

Description:

Suirou no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes water to imprison an opponent. The ninja forms the necessary hand seals which causes the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for limited movement. The ninja must keep their body touching the water prison to maintain its existence. If the contact is broken, the water falls away and their target is released. A taijutsu where one launches a succession of high kicks and low kicks. Firstly, the opponent's evasion margin is restrained upon seeing the high kick, thus augmenting the chances for the low kick to hit the mark. So originally the high kick is little more than a feint.

Ogi didn’t let herself become too confident, but Ikana seemed to jump back from the pain rather quickly, and the Kusa Genin was surprised that the barrier was broken so easily given her barriers were stronger than most. No matter, she would think to herself, amethyst eyes locking onto Ikana as she removed a kunai from her pouch.

The Kiri Genin didn’t stay away for long, and quickly surged forward with great speeds. As Ikana kicked outward towards Ogi’s Chin, Ogi would position the kunai outward towards Ikana’s leg, hoping to catch the girl off guard and either land a deep and painful gash, or force Ikana to cancel her attack entirely.

Ikana followed up with a second attack, however, to which Ogi responded with another repel barrier at the point of impact, perhaps now using the last of her remaining chakra. With her chakra now drained, Ogi fell to her knees. Her vision hazy and gasping for breath, she felt water beginning to form around her. In a last-ditch effort, she did her best to roll to the side to dodge the wall of water forming around her, but with her energy being completely drained, she was still encapsulated by the water.

Ogi was trapped inside. She beat at the water the best she could, but nothing seemed to work. Quickly running out of breath, she lowered her head and raised her hand.

She signaled defeat.

DESCRIPTION:
The user can form this technique at any point on their body. Creating a small bubble of chakra, the user compresses an amount of air until the pressure is rather significant. When this bubble is burst, the trapped air pushes the assailant back with surprising force, equal to a standard punch from an average male shinobi. This technique is usually used to defend against physical attacks without expending too much chakra.
