Komatsuzaki Kiko Shinigami-chan, the true head of the waruichi clan The second phase of the third round of the exams was set to begin. Uchiha Tokaku, a young and aspiring genin was set to face off against the decidedly deadly leader of the Waruichi clan, one not known for leaving many survivors in her wake. Though both of their prior matches had ended in forfeits, the actual content of each battle had been like night and day. Kiko had readied herself for the battle. She had shown her previous opponent a sufficient degree of mercy, and had perhaps taken it too easy on him. Because of that, her performance had been lacking. That was not a mistake she'd make again. This time, she had no intention of holding back. Certainly, she also did not plan to kill Tokaku, but she would not make it easy. "Ready..." There was a long pause. "Begin!" Kiko held her hands out from her sides at a low angle and a long ribbon of silk unraveled and descended from each. As it departed her sleeves, the silk frayed and split, creating hundreds of tiny strands that quickly coated the nearby area. Someone with the Sharingan would have no issue tracking those silken strands, but avoiding them would be another matter entirely. However, it was no attack. Kiko merely saturated the area around her with it. "I will accept your surrender," Kiko stated as she waved one arm slowly above her head. "Now, or whenever you see fit." A series of silk shuriken flit from within her billowing sleeves and created a halo-like array above her consisting of twelve shuriken. They waited patiently for a command.

[Uchiha Tokaku]

The first round went smoothly and easily. She hadn't even gained a scratch or bruise this entire exam. Walking into the arena she got a good look at her opponent upon walking towards the center of the ring, before stopping to give distance between herself and her foe, Kiko. The moment the proctor announced that they could begin, was the moment she closed her eyes only to open with her Sharingan active. It kept track of the strings that started to cover the battlefield, Tokaku not moving a muscle. Then she watched her form shuriken with the same threads. It seemed to come from her clothing and contain Kiko's chakra.

Doing some handseals and would take a deep breath, before jumping up and forcing her body to spin in a circle as the Uchiha blew out some flames, aiming to burn up the strings around her while setting anything else around her on fire. She would perform more handseals and would try to aim a massive ball of flames at Kiko and her hovering shuriken of cloth.

Sharingan [1 Tomoe]
The girl unlocked her Sharingan after teammates died in the last chuunin exams she was in, her mother died after the chuunin exams ended. The trauma has given her One Tomoe in both of her eyes. They allow her to see chakra in color, although not as good as a Byakugan. It also gives her a better view of the actions of her opponent, although not as good as a Two or Three Tomoe Sharingan. It can help her keep track of movements well enough to aid her in combat, nonetheless.

Chakra Control
Tokaku always had good chakra control and only perfected it as she’s now gotten older. It helps her keep up with the toll of jutsus, by using almost just the right amount of chakra.

Acquisition of this technique indicates a young Uchiha's transition to adulthood, and has thus become an identifying symbol among themselves. After performing the seals, chakra is kneaded inside the body and converted into fire which is expelled from the mouth either as a expeditious massive orb of roaring flame comparable to a comet or as a continuous flame-thrower. The released flames will engulf their target, and leave a crater in the ground's surface. In its comet form, this technique is capable of going as far as 40 meters. As a flamethrower, its range is shorter at 20 meters, but can engulf several oncoming projectiles and opponents. For those who posses a Katon Ability, this technique possesses the speed, power, and efficiency of a B-ranked jutsu.

Komatsuzaki Kiko Shinigami-chan, the true head of the waruichi clan Fire techniques would be effective against an unprepared Waruichi, but only a temporary detriment for Kiko. The silk threads of her web burned up in the near vicinity of Tokaku, but those further away were unharmed and maintained coverage for now. She had already begun closing the distance with Tokaku. Ideally, she wanted to get to ten meters or closer, where avoiding her techniques would become significantly more difficult, but that meant she had to deal with the fireball coming at her.  There were a number of ways to deal with fire, but the easiest was to merely avoid it. But before that, Kiko began her own assault. Three shuriken fired off to either direction, looping out and around the fireball to target Tokaku from the flanks while the remaining went up and over, coming down from above. They were no normal shuriken, either. They cut like one, but they did not fly like one. They were consciously controlled and aimed by Kiko, and missing was not something she would do so long as she could see her target! Even if she did manage to miss somehow, she could just as easily redirect their flight path again and again. And then matter of the fireball...  As it was released, Kiko rushed sideways. If it followed her somehow, she would pull herself forward with her silk and out of the path at the last minute.

Kinu Shuriken no Jutsu [Silk Throwingstar Technique]

[Uchiha Tokaku]

Tokaku would notice the shuriken was made of the same cloth as the web of silk that she burned away with her fire. Doing quick handseals she would spew more flames while her Sharingan kept track of the location and direction of the shuriken, aiming to catch them all in her powerful embers. She made sure to use the flamethrower version to maximize her range so the unique shuriken wouldn't be able to simply escape. Pulling out a kunai just in case to try and deflect any shuriken that got too close.

If successful, she would finally use her genjutsu as she wanted the fight to end quickly. Flipping the kunai into the air, she would quickly clap before catching her kunai. Once the clap was heard the ground below Kiko would start to become liquid, before quickly start to drag the Kirigakure no Sato girl below. Or so it would seem. In reality she wouldn't actually be sinking, as it would just be an illusion. Once the Uchiha was sure that the girl was under her genjutsu, she was going to finish the fight from there. "Behold my Doton jutsu. You're finished as you will now sink below the earth to be crushed. It was nice knowing you, Kirigakure no Sato scum." Tokaku lied, in an attempt to try and further trick her opponent into thinking she could simply use Doton, an element she had yet to gain.

DESCRIPTION:
After a clap, the opponent will inexplicably begin to sink into the ground beneath them. The ground seemingly spreading up their legs as it seemingly sucks them into the ground, an inch at a time. To the user it seem's impossible to get out, the ground never breaking or relenting. Slowly immobilizing the user, starting with their legs and within two minutes, their entire body. It is easily mistaken for Doton. It can catch one person per casting.

Komatsuzaki Kiko Shinigami-chan, the true head of the waruichi clan Kiko's shuriken burn up in the flames spewed by Tokaku, but it was a minimal concern for Kiko. It would have been nice if they had taken Tokaku down but it was hardly expected. They were, however, a significantly better trade. Tokaku had been churning out chakra left and right, and Kiko had been very limited in her expenditure thus far, potentially giving her an advantage going forward. But Tokaku was not going to forfeit, at least not yet. That disappointed Kiko. She had given her the chance to get out of this unscathed, and now... it was truly no time for mercy. Tokaku's defense was sufficient, and her genjutsu activated with that clap and Kiko was promptly halted in her tracks to begin slowly sinking. Try as she might, she could not pull free of the ground. "It appears I am at a loss." Kiko merely summoned up a duo of her needles and fired them at Tokaku. Guided by her silk, evasion was not likely to be an option.

BATTLE MOD REVIEW

As edits were made after the initial battle moderation request was submitted, we cannot make a ruling based on the context in which the request was made as that context has changed.

That said, to address the concern posited by the battle mod request: given that Uchiha Tokaku used genjutsu in the first bout of round three, which was available for other CE participants to watch, it is not unreasonable for a character facing off against her in the second or third bouts to take a gamble that Tokaku may be using a genjutsu, regardless of whether or not they know this for certain or know what the trigger may or may not have been.

A character committing to causing themselves moderate pain (which is the only option for a solitary non-gen-spec'd character attempting to break out of a D-rank genjutsu) is actively choosing to weaken their position in a fight on the chance that it will free them from a debilitating effect so that they can carry on while moderately injured. If they're wrong, they're dealing with a different technique while moderately injured. This is part of the strength of genjutsu techniques: even if the victim of a genjutsu is able to escape it, they are using chakra or actively harming themselves to do so, which skews a fight in the genjutsu user's favor.

The current state of the battle is based on what is currently written in the rotations. Prior edits cannot be taken into consideration as the battle moderators do not have access to them.

Tokaku uses Chinrin on Kiko . Kiko believes that she is sinking into the ground due to a Doton technique and cannot pull herself free. In response, Kiko uses Twin Thorns, a guided-missile technique that is attacking Tokaku's flanks in an attempt to harm her and disrupt her chakra flow.

Kiko's Silken Influence SA makes her Waruichi techniques more durable and faster than standard. Tokaku has no equal improvement to her evasive capabilities but is otherwise unoccupied; therefore she is able to dodge one of the needles of Twin Thorn but not the other.

The battle may continue with this in mind. Tokaku is next in the rotation.

For future reference: no one should feel obligated to inform their partner that they've requested a battle mod if they don't feel comfortable doing so. However, if a request for a battle mod is made, the requester should not then also ask that their thread partner edit their post, as it prevents the battle mods from being able to accurately assess the situation. Once a battle mod request has been made, no edits to existing posts should be requested or made.

Komatsuzaki Kiko Shinigami-chan, the true head of the waruichi clan Most people think they have a plan, but that plan usually only goes so far as getting hit. Kiko wasn't sure if that was the issue with Tokaku or not, or if there was something else going on, but her response to the needles was anything but sufficient.  They pierce her body like a javelin, stabbing through flesh with ease. Fortunately, Kiko was not interested in killing Tokaku, likely much to the surprise of many who knew the rumors about her. Killing Tokaku would be more trouble than it was worth, and if it did happen it would be purely accidental. Being stuck with such large implements could be quite traumatizing, though. However, the instant those needles struck the girl, her chakra network was sent into disarray. Fighting back would become significantly more difficult, if not impossible. To remove a needle would require overpowering Kiko's silken influence, but the gap of time Tokaku had to do so was extremely narrow. The silk attached to the needles unraveled and quickly began to surround her with the intent of binding her in place and incapacitating her further. If successful, Kiko would then force her back and to the ground, embedding the needles into the dirt and pinning Tokaku to the ground like an Uchiha-sized olive on top of a sub sandwich. "Doton... hmph," Kiko seemed unimpressed, and unconvinced, even as she continued to slowly sink.  Someone with doton would have at least have made an attempt to defend their self. At least, that is what Kiko believed. The likelihood of Tokaku being able to fight, especially on an even remotely level footing with Kiko had basically been reduced to zero. The fight was all but over as far as the Waruichi was concerned.
