[attr="class","mnt"]Perhaps two dozen low-rank enemies were gathered just out of view of the mines. With snickers and gossip whispering between the small cliches they had formed, one man stood out in particular.
A younger male, perhaps in his early twenties, stood at the front lines, a metal bo staff in his arms and two over-sized earrings dangling from his earlobes. A purple robe protected his skin from the blistering sun. While the lesser bandits seemed untroubled and seemingly carefree, his expression was that of someone expecting trouble, and willing to overcome it. Their invasion had been planned for nearly a year now and in secret. Kyuso had made sure to break any loose ends in their mission before they would have ever become a threat.
Perhaps this seriousness was why he was at the head of the operation. Or, perhaps…there was something else about him.
He watched the entrance to the mines closely, the guards had a very distinctive rotation that would make it easy to cut their chain in communication and enter the mines without alerting the other guards.
Kyuso turned around, slamming his bo staff in the sand below. The sand rippled outward a good few feet, shaking the ground below and gaining the attention of the peons at his disposal.
"We set out in five. Double check your equipment, and make sure those damn tags aren’t set off until we’re all out, got it?” His jaw clenched angrily, or perhaps nervously. This was his defining moment, and if they were to succeed here he would very well get the rank he wanted…and deserved. He wasn’t going to let these nobodies mess up his goals.
As the guards began their rotation, they moved out, their steps eerily silent against the shifting sands. It would seem they had trained for this or perhaps they had traveled these lands for quite some time. Quickly, quietly, and efficiently, they took out the two rotation guards, coloring the sand red and then headed straight into the mines. They formed a set of four squads with six bandits in each. It seemed at least one in each squad was leading, and the way they carried themselves clearly put them in higher rank and experience.
Kyusa already knew where the vault was located, and he would take his men straight for it. The glory would be his. As they made their way, several guards of the mines fell, silently before ever having the chance to even scream. Despite their seemingly low-ranking, they worked well as a team, and they knew their purpose.
Kyusa, stopped at the entrance of the vault, his light grey eyes scanning. Something…was off. There were no guards at the vault, the most important location…why? They couldn’t be that confident.
"Ready yourselves,” he said, taking hold of his bo staff and readying it.
