"a cold disposition".
"No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living."

CAT AND MOUSE

Shigure chuckled and shook his head. "And why would I do that? Secrets are part of the life of a shinobi. I respect you enough to keep this to myself." he reassured the Yuki boy. Shigure liked Kazu, and he earned his respect over and over again, so revealing to the world what he was capable of would just endanger Kazu's life in the future, especially if he became a Chuunin and started to take in harder, more dangerous missions.

Kazu needed to keep Shigure inside the area of the cold and it was clear he was going to pursue him and he was ready for that. The moment he noticed the rim of the area of cold getting closer to him, he would use a single hand seal and perform the Body Flicker Technique to move himself instantly to the opposite side of the arena, where his area of cold didn't reach yet. It was indeed a game of cat and mouse, but with this body flicker, he could still run for a bit and avoid the area for a longer time, so he wondered for just how long Kazu would be able to keep it up.

Still, the Body Flicker wasn't the only thing he used. Grabbing six shurikens from his leg holster, he would fire a volley of 3, and wait for Kazu's reaction to then fire the other 3, trying to hit him with the shurikens. The distance also gave him time to further assess his technique and the mechanics behind it, and the direction his chakra was flowing inside his body, he was figuring it out.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Used Body Flicker before getting into the area to go to the opposite end of the arena, launched 6 shurikens, 3 at a time.

Technique used:

NAME: Shunshin no Jutsu [Body Flicker Technique] - 1/4
RANK: D
CHAKRA USAGE: Low
CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General]
ELEMENT: None
HANDSEALS: 1
DESCRIPTION:
By invigorating one's entire body with chakra, a shinobi can seemingly disappear and reappear in another location faster than most people can see. Often times one's movements are disguised with the use of an extra element, be it a smoke bomb, leaves, water, sand, etc. in order to hide the user's trajectory from those with skilled eyes. Though it mimics teleportation, it is important to remember this jutsu merely boosts the agility of its user. As useful as this technique is, it can only be used 4 times in a battle thread, compounding in exertion and difficulty each time. with any more usages beyond that result in muscle tears in the legs from overexertion. The hand seal for this technique must be held until the shinobi reaches their destination, making it impossible to utilize other techniques regardless of any preparation.

Thankfully, Shigure didn't plan on revealing all of his techniques to anyone. Kazu didn't want to have to change a strategy as a result of that, though he still might have to. If Shigure had a dojutsu that could see through his abilities so easily then there were likely others. "I appreciate that. Though even if you did, I'd be vastly different by the time someone came after me."

Of course, Shigure wouldn't just let Kazu get to him. Knowing he couldn't keep up this chase for long, Kazu tried one last time to reach Shigure. If he didn't get Shigure within his range, he'd stop using the technique. For now though, he gave chase once again.

Of course, he still had his backup plan. If it turned out that he couldn't reach Shigure, he'd almost be out of chakra. So, he'd have to rely more on his ninja tools. As a result, he'd release the jutsu before cutting his left pouch off of his pants, there was still one more explosive tag in it as well as two kunai. Then, he'd wait for Shigure to come for him once again. "You about ready to finish this thing yet?" He'd ask. If he got withing throwing distance, Kazu would throw his pouch before exploding it at just enough range to harm Shigure.

His thought process was interrupted however, as Shigure threw a volley of three Shuriken. Kazu didn't have time to dodge all three, he'd been too focused on his strategy. He did have time to reposition himself though, making it to where only two of the three Shuriken hit him. One in each arm. He winced from the pain, but continued to make his way towards Shigure.

Jutsu still in use:

NAME: Hyōton: Kuiaratamenai fuyu [Ice Release: Remorseless Winter]

RANK: B

CHAKRA USAGE: Medium, Medium Drain

CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu

ELEMENT: Hyōton

HAND SEALS: 16

DESCRIPTION:

One of the most feared techniques of the Yuki clan, Remorseless Winter takes the advantage of the clan's natural resistance to their own jutsu and uses it against their opponent. The user must hold the last seal for one post to complete the jutsu, but after its completion, the air up to 100 ft. (30 m) diameter and up to 100 ft (30 m) high around the user will drastically drop in temperature. The temperature becomes cold enough that within just three turns, those not from the clan can begin to feel numbness in the extremities.

At one turn, the opponent will only just begin to feel the dropping temperate as their breath begins to freeze in front of them and it will begin to hurt to breathe and the opponent may begin to shiver uncontrollably. At two turns, their movements will start to slow. Within three turns, they will begin to feel intense heat all over their body and frostbite can begin to set in. At three turns, hypothermia will begin to take hold and can cause an opponent to become delirious.

If the user moves, the temperature around them will follow as long as the technique is held. If the opponent moves outside of the affected zone for more than one turn, they can theoretically reset the dangerous effects on their body.

Equipment used IF Shigure isn't in range of Kazu's jutsu by the end of his post:
02 Kunai
01 Explosive Tag

GETTING CLOSE

Shigure nodded to Kazu's statement. "That's how it should be." they had to grow, or die. There was really no in between, as the previous day made it absolutely clear. As Kazu started to approach him, Shigure ran in an angle, moving on the walls for a while, to circle around the area as soon as it moved towards him. Being able to see the area gave him an advantage in avoiding that area of cold, and the strain in Kazu's chakra was something he had already noticed, he definitely couldn't keep it up for much longer. The first volley of shuriken he had throw managed to hit the Yuki, even though he avoided one of them. They were not deadly, but it would hurt.

With the other three Shuriken still in his other hand, he noticed when the Yuki finally let go of his area of cold, a great relief, but that didn't mean he didn't have anything else under his sleeves, and lowering his guard know could mean defeat; the Yuki was not one to be taken lightly, for he continued to advance despite the sharp shuriken in his arms. "I thought Taki was my most fearsome opponent... In a way, I understand why. But him?... He is already this strong with this age... I wonder what kind of monster he will become in a few years. He is definitely the toughest I faced in this exam." he thought to himself as he noticed the pouch in his hand.

Using the ability of the Byakugan to see through things, he saw one more explosive tag in there. It wouldn't be good if he was caught by it, but he needed to close in, so it was time for a feint. Shigure dashed towards Kazu, with the other 3 shurikens on his hand, but when he noticed the movement of his arm, he immediately used his accelerate technique, backed by his sharp combat reflexes, to move backwards and threw the three shuriken at his pouch, intercepting it before it could reach him. It was close, and the shockwave of the explosion was enough to send back two of his own shuriken at his direction, hitting him in the guts; his bukijutsu could use some improvement.

Shigure winced in pain and removed the sharp metal, throwing it on the ground. "That didn't work as well as I expected..." he said to himself. Shigure was also getting low on chakra, and needed to think carefully on which techniques he would be using moving forward.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Avoided the area of cold until Kazu dropped it, advanced as a feint to provoke Kazu to throw the kunai and intercepted it with his shurikens while retreating with accelerate, but two of them flew back and hit Shigure.

DESCRIPTION:
A very simple technique, by using chakra the user is able to instantly accelerate their selves to their max speed. This can be done in just about any condition, but any techniques that slow the user's movement (such as armor from jutsu or most jutsu that might slow an individual) will still affect them.

Kazu agreed with Shigure's statement but didn't give a response. He was getting to the limits of his chakra, so he let go of the seal causing the jutsu to be released. As he threw the severed pouch at Shigure, the boy threw three more Shuriken at it, causing it to explode. The result still played in his favor a little bit though, as two of his Shuriken flew back to hit him in the gut. Due to how close the explosion was, Kazu was sent backwards a bit as well. One of the stray Kunai from his pouch ended up flying across his face, cutting him in the process.

He definitely felt ready to quit, but he wasn't quite done yet, he still had the few tools left in his other pouch: Three shuriken, One Kunai, and Three smoke bombs. The smoke bombs wouldn't be much help with that dojutsu, but Kazu still had weapons. First, he took the two Shuriken out of his arms, throwing them both in Shigure's direct. Though, his aim was a little off. He was getting exhausted. Then, he grabbed a Kunai and a smoke bomb. He threw the smoke bomb in Shigure's general direction before throwing the Kunai into the smoke bombs, causing it to leak out smoke as it approached Shigure. "Hopefully... That'll help conceal it..." One last desperate move from an exhausted Genin.

He grabbed his remaining Shuriken, leaving them in his hands as he waited for Shigure to make his move.

SMOKE AND CLONES

It wasn't just Shigure who got some injury from the explosion, as one kunai flew and cut him on the face, nothing dangerous, but it was at least some consolation. Still, the fight was not over and he needed to do something. Kazu removed the shurikens from his arms and threw it towards Shigure, who side stepped to avoid it. He was injured, but not enough to hamper his reflexes and combat readiness. He had a plan in mind, but curiously, Kazu decided to throw a smoke bomb and a kunai at Shigure's direction, and that made him change his plans, as the smoke could work in the Hyuuga's favour. The kunai hit the smoke bomb and created the smokescreen in the battlefield, concealing the Hyuuga, but he could still see and avoiding that projectile was easy.

A quick set of three hand seals and Shigure. "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" he exclaimed from inside the smokescreen, lying the name of the technique to try and bait Kazu. He had used the Shadow Clone in his fight against Taki, so it could be seen as a last ditch effort with his current chakra. Instead, Shigure created 3 normal clones, and so his strategy started. Two of the clones would run out of the smoke bomb, one from the left and one from the right, running in a half-circle as they attempted to flank Kazu, as if they were ready to hit him with palm strikes of the Gentle Fist to the side.

The last clone waited inside the smoke screen and what would happen next would depend on how Kazu reacted to the first two clones. If he reacted to them in any way, either by attacking them or trying to avoid them somehow, the last clone would come running in a straight line for a final assault. The real Shigure would follow behind this clone, mimic it's movements and using it to cover himself. His attack would come immediately after the clone, and would be exactly the same; the goal of this last clone was to prompt Kazu to defend himself against the clone, thus leaving himself vulnerable to the real attack coming shortly after. "Shoutei!" Shigure would roar, aiming to hit the boy with a powerful Gentle Fist strike to his solar plexus in an attempt to end the fight.

If he didn't react to the first two clones, he would remain inside the smokescreen with the last clone, waiting for Kazu's reaction before deciding on a course of action.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Dodges the shurikens and the kunai, created 3 normal bunshins and sent them to flank Kazu. If Kazu reacted to them, the last clone would come for a frontal assault with the real Shigure mimicking its steps right behind, baiting the Yuki to defend himself against a fake attack, only for the real one to come immediately after.

NAME: Bunshin no Jutsu [Clone Technique]
RANK: E
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low
CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General]
ELEMENT: None
HANDSEALS: 3
DESCRIPTION:
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user can create a handful of intangible clones to confuse the enemy. They do not contain solid mass, have no shadows and do not interact with the surrounding environment, making them somewhat easy to distinguish from the real person.

NAME: Shōtei [Palm Bottom] - Circumstantial
RANK: D
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low
CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu

DESCRIPTION:
The user thrusts their palm forward, hitting the enemy’s body with a quick and precise motion. The technique is both basic and deadly; this is because like any other Gentle Fist technique it injects chakra into the target causing a great deal of internal damage. When the technique is used it usually temporarily paralyzes an opponent but the collateral damage is not on par with much more elaborated techniques.

With little to no chakra, no remaining equipment, and no strategy; Kazu was at a loss. There was very little left Kazu could do. As much as he wanted this fight to continue, his pain levels were increasing. A sign that his adrenaline was wearing off no doubt. He evaded Shigure's clones, but not in the way he probably thought he would, Kazu ran straight for the middle, going in between the two clones.

When the third clone came, Kazu used the momentum of his run, sliding underneath the clone of Shigure in what was likely a surprising maneuver. Now, he was in the cloud of smoke. His goal had been to get here, nothing else. Mainly so Shigure would hear his words before launching an attack. "As much as I wanna keep going, Shigure, we're both way too exhausted for that. I think we both put up an amazing fight but..." He coughed up a bit more blood, a smile on his face. As he said the next few words, blood dripped from both his mouth and his arms. "I forfeit. You win."

If Shigure still attacked, Kazu would do his best to defend against the attack. If not, he'd wait for the medics to escort him to the tent. The ending felt anti-climactic, but Kazu had accomplished all he wanted to in this match. Hell, he'd managed to use Taijutsu to push the Hyuuga back. That in itself was an achievement. As he left the arena, a grin would be plastered on his face. He didn't need to win, not this time.

"No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living."

UNEXPECTED FINALE

Kazu surprised Shigure, for he didn't expect him to run directly towards the smoke. It didn't really matter, it would just make them engage sooner and that worked in Shigure's favour... Or so he thought. Kazu slid the moment he approached the first clone, prompting Shigure to avoid his sliding by rolling to the left, as he assumed that was an attack. Shortly after rolling to dodge it and flank Kazu, his palm was ready for a strike, but when he heard Kazu's voice, he halted his advance, but he didn't lower his guard just yet.

"Uh?" he exclaimed, intrigued as to what his point was by mentioning they were exhausted and had put up an amazing fight, but then the words of forfeit came out of his mouth and that made Shigure finally lower his arm and stop channeling his chakra. The expression of confusion turned into a subtle smile, but upon seeing Kazu spit some more blood the smile faded away.

The Hyuuga looked at the proctor, who called the fight already. "We need some doctors, please!" and before the medical team approached, he looked at his opponent and bowed to him respectfully. "You were an amazing foe, Kazu-san. I have to admit, I am almost out of chakra myself, I had maybe one more thing to try after this one." he said, shaking his head. "I hope we never meet on the battlefield. But... As naive as it may sound, I think fondly of you. I hope you succeed. I think you proved your worth, and you have my utmost respect." and with those words, the Hyuuga headed outside of the arena. With the adrenaline of the fight gone, the injuries to his chin and guts were hurting way more, and he needed some medical care himself.

The Chuunin Exams had ended for Shigure, and he would be leaving with a bittersweet taste in his mouth; he met incredible people, but he also lost a dear friend.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."
