Kazu stood up, waiting for his name to get called for his final match. This was the final stretch. The final test. More importantly to the boy though, it was his final chance to fight Shigure. The boy tapped his foot repetitively, a mix of excitement and nervousness. As his name was called, a smile formed itself on his mouth.

Reaching the fighting area, Kazu saw his opponent. "Good to see you, Shigure." Greeted Kazu. His mind was already at work for strategies against him. The first round made it clear he shouldn't get too close. Long range was his best option. If it was anyone but Shigure, he might not care to fight them. He'd already proven himself fairly well in his opinion, but he'd been preparing to fight Shigure since before the exams started. Kazu tried to take in every factor that could change his plan. Yoru had died in the previous round, and neither of the two participants had time to mourn him yet. He wasn't sure whether Shigure and Yoru were friends, but they were still from the same village at least. It would've affected him in some way. Taking that into account, Shigure might be more aggressive than he was in the first two fights. His best bet for now was likely to make it a battle of endurance, but that could change depending on how Shigure acted.

Taking all of that into account, he replied with a simple nod when the proctor asked if he was ready. The time between being asked and the proctor officially starting the fight felt like an eternity, but it was one he'd gladly wait through. He wasn't worried about death for this round at least, Shigure wasn't one to kill an opponent without reason. He was just ecstatic that the fight he'd been preparing for happened, this is what he had been training for.

BITTER GREETING

The final day had finally come.

Shigure was trying his best to deal with the death of his friend, Nara Yoru, at the hands of the cold-blooded Waruichi Asuna. Part of him was hoping he would face her in the final match, so he could send her straight to hell, but he knew that he couldn't give in to such gruesome emotions. It was not like him, revenge wasn't going to take him anywhere, and it would only further fuel the cycle of hatred that haunted the shinobi world. In the end, when he heard the name of his opponent, he was relieved. Not because he thought this was going to be an easy fight, he knew very well it would not, but because he would not be tempted to give in to his anger and do something he would soon regret.

The Hyuuga walked to the centre of the arena, taciturn in a way that didn't match his character. As he approached the centre, standing near the proctor and in front of Kazu, the Yuki boy greeted him and in response, he nodded. He tried to smile, but his lips were barely able to form such a shape, the bitterness and anger clearly in his eyes, but not directed towards his current opponent. A short, subtle bow in response to his words and once he was done, he looked Kazu right in his eyes. "I looked forward facing you. Still... I can't take the bitter taste from my mouth. I just want you to know that, regardless of how this fight goes, I actually like you, Kazu-san." he said, sighing deeply. He wanted him to know he was not looking to harm him in any lethal or deadly way, but that he might fight more aggressively than normal.

With both fighters in the arena, the proctor looked at them and moved their hand, signaling the start of their bout. As he did that, Shigure immediately fell into his battle stance, ready to fight. The veins bulged around his temples, activating his Byakugan. The chakra reserves of Kazu were remarkable, and albeit he already knew that, seeing this close was something else.

The bout had just begun.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Shigure's comments of Yoru's death seemed to confirm Kazu's suspicions: He'd most likely be more aggressive in this bout than the others. He felt sympathy for his opponent, not nearly enough to go easy on him, but enough to give his condolences. "I'm sorry for your loss Shigure, I know that's the usual response but that's all I can really give you. From what I knew of Yoru he had a good life ahead of him." He finished, just before the proctor signaled the beginning of the fight. The time for words was over, it was time for the fight he'd been looking forward to.

The best part about the final round, Kazu didn't have to debate on whether he should reveal certain techniques anymore. He didn't have any opponents after this. Though realistically, this could give him issues on future missions, but that wasn't as important to him as this fight. Shigure started off just as Kazu had expected, that dojutsu would be his biggest issue in this fight. To start with, Kazu would need to get some distance. He'd seen just how fast Shigure was in his earlier fights, being up close was a big disadvantage.

And that's exactly what he did, he took a few steps back, inching closer to the clear edge of the arena. He needed to use the environment to his advantage more, something he hadn't done much of in the first two fights. He still needed to keep Shigure at bay while doing so though. As a result of his thinking, he made a senbon ice needle, a technique Shigure would surely recognize. He fired it not at Shigure, but at the ground just in front of his feet. That would at least keep him from coming full force at him, for now. He also digged into his pouch of ninja tools and attached an explosive tag to a Kunai for later, hoping that since it was a different object than he normally used in conjunction with an explosive tag, Shigure wouldn't expect it.

Jutsu used:
NAME: Sun Tōketsu [Snap Freeze]

RANK: C

CHAKRA USAGE: Low

CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu // Kekkei Genkai

ELEMENT: Hyōton

DESCRIPTION:

Without needing a hand-seal, the user will create a single senbon ice needle in the palm of their hand and send it flying towards their opponent. When the ice comes in contact with a person or object, it will snap freeze whatever it touches in a half a meter radius. For example, if it comes in contact with an arm or leg, it will freeze the limb, same goes with a sword of Ninja tools.

HEATED START

"A life that was unnecessarily taken from him." that was his brash response. Again, he was angry and even though that anger was not directed towards Kazu himself, it was spilling on him. The time for words was over, however, as the proctor started the fight and Shigure's eyes were locked on Kazu, trying to anticipate his moves by reading the impulses on his brain. It was a straining thing to do, but he could sustain it for some time. That ability allowed him to notice he was ready to move away, and Shigure was determined to not let him have enough time to do so.

Unlike Kazu, who relied on gaining speed as he moved, Shigure jumped immediately to his full speed using his Accelerate technique to close in with Kazu as quickly as possible. Once in the range of his Eight Trigrams, he would expel chakra from his tenketsus, and if that hit Kazu, he would be stunned for a moment, which would potentially halt his actions and movement, giving Shigure enough time and opening to hit him with his technique. "Hakkeshou Ranbu!" he exclaimed as he launched his attack.

Shigure would deliver a brutal assault of palm strikes, aiming to injure Kazu's internal organs, mainly his lungs and solar plexus in order to leave him more winded and having a harder time breathing. If the attack landed, Kazu would be unable to move for one rotation, thus giving the Hyuuga the opportunity to strike him again.

If, for some reason, the Yuki managed to escape the assault, Shigure would pause and observe his following actions while preparing a technique with a feel hand seals.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Accelerate to close in as soon as possible, attack with Palm Storm Dance. If Kazu escapes, prepared secret jutsu.

SA Used:
BYAKUGAN

Like all members of the Hyuuga clan, Shigure also has the famous byakugan as one of his signature traits. Like every byakugan, Shigure’s eyes have the ability to see in a 359 degrees, except for a single 1 degree spot on the back of his head. On top of that he is able to see through most objects, giving him a great perception of his environment and making it very hard to surprise or ambush the Hyuuga when he has his doujutsu activated. Having seriously trained to develop his sight, Shigure managed to increase the range of his Byakugan from an initial range of 10 meters, to a respectful 650 meters range, which makes him quite the competent tracker in missions, being also able to discern clones from their makers, see through chakra barriers, determine the color of a chakra and determine if a genjutsu is being used or not.

He is also very capable in his ability to see chakra, including the chakra circulatory system inside a shinobi’s body, thus allowing him to identify the precise location of the tenketsus, which are one of the knowledge required to use Gentle Fists to its maximum capacity, power and finesse. On top of all that, Shigure’s training and experience as a people’s person allowed him to unify it with his byakugan power, thus making him quite competent while reading people’s emotions. Therefore, while using his byakugan, he can usually detect if someone is lying, though the impulses of the brain, heartbeat and such, and sometimes even anticipate reactions based on the body functions prior to an action. This skill, however, requires immense focus and he still struggles a lot to use it.

ENHANCED SPEED

What Shigure lacks in physical strength he definitely makes it up in the speed department. Being trained ever since his early childhood on the mighty Gentle Fist, he learned soon enough that raw power was completely useless for his style since, in the end, nobody can train their inner organs to become stronger and thus the chakra injected by the Hyuuga fighting style was more than enough to achieve the desired results. Thus, the truly efficient way to improve his fighting capabilities were tied to how fast could he act and react in a fight.

Shigure’s reflexes are absurdly sharp and he can react almost instantly to attacks, which makes him quite skilled in countering strikes with his deadly Gentle Fist. He can also land more blows per second than most of his peers, moving so swiftly that it’s even hard to keep up without enhanced eyesight. This, together with his Byakugan makes him really dangerous in close quarters because, in short, he can attack fast, he can counter fast and he can react fast to the situation.

Enhanced Chakra Control:

Due to his intense training and his overall style as a practitioner of the Gentle Fist, Shigure developed a level of chakra control that is beyond that of his peers. His level of control is above what is expected of a Shinobi of his level, and he is able to optimize the usage of chakra on his techniques, avoiding unnecessary waste. This ability gives him an edge on the battlefield, as he will be able to use more techniques, more often, and avoid the draining effects of running out of chakra due to waste.

Of course, Shigure was angry, leaking out his emotions to Kazu. Still, Kazu could tell he was trying to keep a steady head. He was a strong opponent and Kazu knew that. Kazu was excited to fight him though, getting chills for the first time since he'd been here. This was the fight he'd wanted. It wouldn't be easy, but Kazu didn't need to win.

As Kazu expected, Shigure started extremely aggressive, but the boy knew this when the fight began. Still facing the boy but gradually making his way to the edge of the arena behind him, he started by firing the senbon at Shigure instead. It was more as a distraction than anything else, he didn't expect to actually freeze Shigure. Following that, he used a jutsu without the need for hand seals due to Shigure's speed. Kazu started by gathering moisture in the air, encasing his fist in ice. The purpose of the move was pretty simple, to block an attack. As Shigure reached him, rather quickly at that, the boy put both arms up in a defensive stance, with the fist encased in ice in front of the other.

He was stunned, but at least he was already in a defensive stance before that, whether Shigure chose to attack while the boy was stunned was his choice entirely, but if he attacked his hand, he'd gain some frostbite. Kazu was already thinking ahead though, knowing that he'd need something extremely powerful if he had any hopes of besting Shigure. Since he was stunned anyways, he looked to the stands to see his sensei once again. A silent 'thank you' was all he thought as he stood there, unable to move. Whenever the stun eventually wore off, he'd go back to running for the wall, weaving 15 hand signs as he ran.

64 PALMS

Shigure dodged the freezing senbon, his eyes seeing the chakra behind it and knowing what it was capable of. He closed in enough so that his burst of chakra coming out of his tenketsus managed to momentarily stun the Yuki, but not before he used a quite interesting technique: Kazu's arms became encased in ice. From the smoke coming out of it, it wasn't hard to deduce this was extremely cold to the touch, and that made Shigure change his course of action. He quickly adjusted his stance, not following through with his Palm Storm Dance and instead, switching to a far stronger technique, seizing this golden opportunity as his opponent was stunned.

"Jukenhou... Hakke Rokujuuyon Shou!" he exclaimed as he changed the shape of his hands from open palms to half clenched fist, with his index and middle finger close together. The chakra in his hand forming a dangerous needle as he advanced to close Kazu's Tenketsus. He knew the ice was dangerous, but it wasn't strong enough to fight against his ultimate technique, and one of the aces of the main branch of the Hyuuga clan. Dodging, at this point - considering the stun - was very unlikely, and his defence was about to be shattered by the onslaught of tenketsu strikes.

If successful, Shigure would attack Kazu's torso and arms, aiming to close sixty-four of his tenketsus. The attacks were quite violent, as they not only aimed to shut down a tenketsu, but also caused internal damage to the area around the tenketsus, which involve many vital organs. With every set of strikes, the speed and power behind it increased, with the power of continuously knocking back the opponent with every step. If Kazu was hit by the attack, he would suffer a huge disruption in his chakra flow, as it would be forcibly stopped, preventing him from using any jutsu he had in his arsenal.

But that was not the only effect of the attack. Due to the internal damage as well, most people aren't even able to properly stand after the attack. It was taxing, but he was determined to go all out with all his power and the might of his clan. He knew Kazu was a dangerous opponent, and anything less than that could mean Shigure's defeat.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Using the momentary stun from the Palm Storm Dance to switch the offensive to the 64 palms (B-Rank), aiming to break through Kazu's defences and close his main 64 tenketsus.

Despite Kazu's intuition that Shigure would be aggressive, he was still extremely unprepared. He came out the gates with some of his best attacks for sure, Yoru's death clearly affected him more than Kazu realized. However, he had prepared for this a little bit at the start of the match.

Shigure hit him, around 30 or so times, but he'd also used about half of his technique to break the ice around Kazu's arms. If Kazu had taken the full amount of that attack to his body, he probably wouldn't have been able to do much. Even with just half of it he felt like a train had just hit him. Shigure had used his stun well. Now at least, Kazu could move again. His plan changed though, if Shigure was gonna use techniques that strong, Kazu needed to conserve more.

So, instead of weaving hand seals, he began running in Shigure's direction, grabbing the kunai with the explosive tag from earlier, but choosing not to blow it up quite yet. Instead, he'd try to cut at the boy's arms, Kazu didn't want to kill him after all. After his strikes, the boy would try to gain some distance. Shigure had proved his speed earlier, so Kazu would move in a more zigzag motion this time. Hopefully, he couldn't turn at full speed.

"No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living."

TENACITY

That ice barrier was a problem, and it took roughly half of the attacks of his technique to get rid of it so he could actually hit the Yuki. "Ni shou! Yon shou! Hashou! Juuroku shou!" once he finished those steps, the Yuki was vulnerable to his attack and with that, he dashed forward, ready to hit him with the savagery of the Gentle Fist. "Sanjuuni shou! Rokujuuyon shou!" he roared as he hit Kazu's core with the potent tenketsu strikes, closing 32 of his tenketsus. And although that would not be enough to completely stop him from molding chakra, it would make it significantly harder. Not only that, but moving was going to be more difficult for him as well.

However, this didn't come free. Shigure's fingers were affected by the ice due to the amount of strikes needed to break it, and were red in colour due to the first stage of frostbite caused, called frostnip. It wasn't anything impairing, but definitely bothered the Hyuuga a bit and made him aware of the dangers of Kazu's Kekkei Genkai. "I can't lower my guard around him... I can still destroy his ice with the Gentle Fist, but it can cost me..." he thought to himself, frowning his brows.

Due to the attack, Kazu was pushed back, but his tenacity was incredible. He came running towards Shigure notwithstanding the pain in his body and the difficulty to move. "Your tenacity is remarkable. Not many people can move after getting hit by my attack!" Shigure admitted, as he fell back into his fighting stance, his eyes still focused on trying to anticipate Kazu's movements, drawing a single kunai from his leg holster and waiting for the Yuki to come for him.

Thanks to that, and his incredible reaction speed, Shigure was able to dodge his attack and counter. Counter attack was his main weapon in combat, and with chakra running through his kunai, he aimed to hit Kazu's hand holding the kunai with the hilt of his own kunai. If successful, not only he would hit his wrist, but the chakra would be injected in his wrist, potentially damaging tissue like his wrists muscles and tendons, and disrupting the chakra flow of that area. "Juuken Kuragashira Sutoraiki!" he exclaimed as he attacked.

With his free hand, he would try to grab Kazu's kunai, and launch it to the opposite end of the arena, so it would explode far from the two of them.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

DESCRIPTION:
Essentially a simplistic version of a much more powerful maneuver of the Gentle Fist . However it seems to be quite effective on it’s own. It is used to close off the flow of chakra through thirty-two chakra points of the opponent’s Chakra Pathway System, eliminating their ability to use chakra for some time and make it difficult for them to move. This is done by delivering quick strikes to the enemy in a sequence.

Used this rotation:
NAME: Gentle Fist: Pommel Strike [Juuken: Kuragashira Sutoraiki]
RANK: D
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low
CLASSIFICATION: Bukijutsu
ELEMENT: n/a
HANDSEALS: 0
REQUIREMENT: Hyūga Clan & Shōtei [Palm Bottom]
DESCRIPTION:

A variant to an otherwise simple technique tailored towards the Hyūga CLan. The clan member combines their most basic ability, the Shōtei [Palm Bottom] and the common technique of a Pommel Strike. The user attempts to jab an opponent quickly with the hilt or end of their weapon tunneling chakra through it. The chakra is injected into the opponent upon impact and, similar to their palm strike, can damage surrounding tissue and organ and over time can disrupt the opponent's flow of chakra. This technique is available to both Main Branch and Side Branch.

As he ran to Shigure, he definitely felt the pain. He was too excited for that to make him quit though. Too hyped up on his own adrenaline. Not to mention, he'd caused himself plenty of pain when training with his sensei. Still, this was a bit more pain than he was used to.

Shigure noticed that though, complimenting the boy's tenacity. Though, Shigure's own Tenacity was something to behold. "You're not too bad yourself, even the first stage of frostbite is no joke. Most people would be on the ground." The boy responded, taking note of Shigure's fingers. As he ran for the boy, he needed a backup plan. Shigure had gotten plenty of moves in already. Kazu hadn't really landed a hit yet though.

He excelled in Taijutsu, so Kazu really didn't want to deal with him at close range, but that's also probably the last thing Shigure would expect. If Kazu could use a Taijutsu that would launch his opponent far enough away... The boy grinned; he knew the exact move to use. The only issue was that Shigure might recognize it.

Shigure easily dodged his first strike, but before the boy could knock the kunai out of Kazu's hands the Yuki genin threw it. It was just close enough that it'd injure both Shigure and Kazu at the moment. Kazu could use that later.

Now was the part that would be difficult. He started by ducking, moving his arm out of the way of Shigure's attack in the process. It wasn't what he meant to do, but it worked out. Following that, he balled the hand that wasn't used earlier into a fist. In one fluid motion, he launched himself upwards, aiming for Shigure's jaw, twisting his body as it rose through the air. "Shoryuken!" It was a move Shigure would surely recognize, but at such a close range was he really capable of dodging it entirely?

Jutsu Used:

NAME: Shoryuken [Rising Dragon Punch]

RANK: C

CHAKRA USAGE: Low

CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu

ELEMENT: -

HANDSEALS: 0

DESCRIPTION:

In one fluid and quick motion the user ducks themselves in front of a foe and springboards off the ground with their legs to jump into the air. Within in the same jumping motion they twist their body into a slight spin as they deliver a powerful uppercut to the opponent's jaw. With enough force they can potentially send a foe flying away with this powerful rising punch.

"a cold disposition".
"No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living."

IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

Shigure hummed. "It's quite painful." he admitted, but not showing signs to be too bothered by it. As Kazu closed in, Shigure avoided his attack and he immediately dropped his kunai, thus managing to avoid Shigure's attack at the very last second. He was expecting Kazu to try and keep his distance before, but with the difficulty to use his chakra, it was natural that he would come to engage in Taijutsu, where Shigure excelled. Still, it didn't mean he would automatically win just because it was his main specialty, and after avoiding the attack, he quickly moved to use a second technique, one that he had seen him use before.

Due to the proximity, it was indeed hard to dodge, but Shigure's reflexes and readiness helped him in this case. Still, he knew it would be impossible to fully avoid the attack, so instead, Shigure moved in sync with the motion of the Shoryuken by moving his body upwards and leaping. It reduced the damage quite substantially, but it was still a decent punch to the chin, and Shigure grit his teeth. His body was being sent upwards, but not by much. With his reaction superior to that of a normal Genin, the Hyuuga would expel chakra from all his tenketsus, taking advantage of how close Kazu was, and the fact that the Yuki himself was also up in the air.

"Hakkeshou Kuten!" he exclaimed. Shigure's body would start rotating at an astounding speed, becoming basically a living drill of chakra, aiming to hit Kazu with the potent rotating drill and crush him into the ground. This technique was capable of creating craters on solid ground due to its sheer power, and just like all techniques of the Gentle Fist, the chakra that hit the target would pour inside their body and caused internal damage. He was banking on the fact that they were close and both in the air, where the Yuki's mobility - hopefully - would be quite compromised.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Leaped in the vector of the Shoryuken to reduce damage, when both were in the air, used Palm Vacuum Heaven to drill Kazu into the ground.

CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu
REQUIREMENT: Hyuuga Clan [Main House], Byakugan, and Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven
DESCRIPTION:
A technique that needs to be performed when the user is in the air (even if by leaping), activating as they launch themselves down towards their opponent, using a similar concept to the Revolving Heaven. The user sends chakra out of all their tenketsus, but instead of creating a circle of defensive chakra, they shape the rotation into the form of a massive rotating drill used to crush the enemy into the ground. It creates a huge crater once it hits the ground due to the power of the rotation and chakra being used.

Shigure was definitely just as intelligent, if not more intelligent than Kazu. Knowing he couldn't block his attack, Shigure went with the flow of Kazu's attack, decreasing its effectiveness. For a moment, the two of them could catch their breath. During this time, Kazu started building up his chakra for something to increase the distance between the two.

The moment of reprieve was just that however, a moment. Kazu watched as Shigure became like a drill. Thankfully, the jutsu he needed didn't need hand seals. Just in front of him, Kazu made a block of ice. He grabbed the block, repositioning his legs so that he could jump off of it. Just as Shigure almost reached him, the boy jumped off of the ice block, leaving it to be shredded by Shigure.

He was still above the ground, though closer to it than his opponent. Thankfully, he'd finally managed to get some distance between the two of them. "All that just for some distance, man Shigure's crazy." The boy said to himself.

Once he finally felt his feet land on the ground, he thought about the next jutsu to use, the next plan of attack. It depended primarily on where Shigure landed, if he was still near Kazu's Kunai from earlier, Kazu would explode it. Regardless of that though, he'd start weaving sixteen hand seals. He hadn't used too much chakra yet, and this might just be enough to beat Shigure.

NAME: Hyōton: Kuiaratamenai fuyu [Ice Release: Remorseless Winter]

RANK: B

CHAKRA USAGE: Medium, Medium Drain

CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu

ELEMENT: Hyōton

HAND SEALS: 16

DESCRIPTION:

One of the most feared techniques of the Yuki clan, Remorseless Winter takes the advantage of the clan's natural resistance to their own jutsu and uses it against their opponent. The user must hold the last seal for one post to complete the jutsu, but after its completion, the air up to 100 ft. (30 m) diameter and up to 100 ft (30 m) high around the user will drastically drop in temperature. The temperature becomes cold enough that within just three turns, those not from the clan can begin to feel numbness in the extremities.

At one turn, the opponent will only just begin to feel the dropping temperate as their breath begins to freeze in front of them and it will begin to hurt to breathe and the opponent may begin to shiver uncontrollably. At two turns, their movements will start to slow. Within three turns, they will begin to feel intense heat all over their body and frostbite can begin to set in. At three turns, hypothermia will begin to take hold and can cause an opponent to become delirious.

If the user moves, the temperature around them will follow as long as the technique is held. If the opponent moves outside of the affected zone for more than one turn, they can theoretically reset the dangerous effects on their body.

A simple juts taught to beginners in the Yuki clan, it's easy to learn but hard to master. Simply put this justus lets users channel Hyōton in to shapes and sculptures. These can range in size from the palm of some ones hand, to the size of an average adult male. What can be built is only limited by the casters skill and imagination. At the same time, the time it takes to make and it's detail is dependent on the skill of the caster, with skilled casters being able to manipulates it's properties, and can hold a surprising amount of weight. Yet any object constructed through the jutsu can be destroyed by any D-rank jutsu, or a directed physical strike from any one stronger then a academy student.

"a cold disposition".
"No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living."

BATTLE OF WILLS

Shigure was already expecting a tough fight, but Kazu was showing to be even tougher than he initially anticipated. Even with the damage he took and with 32 closed tenketsus, he had already found a way to channel his chakra again, and even though it was taking a longer, more complicated path, he was doing remarkably well. Shigure's respect was growing, but he was still determined to win this fight, not only for his sake, but for Yoru's memory as well.

When the Yuki created the block of ice to use as a plataform to leap away, Shigure tilted his body to try and pursue him. Unfortunately, he didn't manage to catch him in time, but the change in angle was enough to make him land in a different spot from were they originally were, closer to the direction Kazu was going and in a safe distance from the explosive kunai he had dropped before.

As his feet touched the ground, he would stop the rotation and immediately dart towards Kazu, both his hands reaching out to his back pouch, grabbing 2 kunais and 2 explosive tags, which he quickly tied together and threw them. Shigure didn't aim them directly at Kazu, however. Instead, he threw one to his right and another one to his left, both flanks. His goal was to prevent him from dodging to the sides, while at the same time potentially causing some non-lethal, yet painful damage with the explosions, hopefully preventing him to cast his jutsu, or at least delaying it a bit longer.

Shigure would aim to close in back into close quarters and if he got close enough, he would try to hit both Kazu's arms with his fingers, aiming to close 2 more tenketsus and maybe disrupt the chakra flow of his arms before finishing the technique.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

Round 3, Bout 3
Changed the angle of the drill, but missed Kazu. Threw 2 explosive kunais (to the left and right), aimed to close in and hit Kazu's arms to close another 2 tenketsus.

The fact that Shigure hadn't tried to catch his breath yet was insane, his opponent definitely had stamina. It took longer for Kazu to gather the chakra for his technique, but eventually Kazu managed to gather the chakra for it. Shigure was intent on stopping the boy from finishing the jutsu though, launching two kunai at him, both likely having explosive tags. As Shigure started to tie the tags on them, Kazu moved to the wall, beginning to finally climb up it. He would wait for Shigure to get closer to the wall, then jump off of it in the same way he'd done with his ice block. This was a game of cat and mouse.

Of course, the boy still had a back-up plan for if Shigure got too close for comfort. But it wasn't quite at that point yet. He was exactly the opponent Kazu had been wanting though. Immense speed to keep up the pressure. Immense capability with his kekkai genkai. It made the boy smile a bit.

Once he landed back on the ground, the temperature 100 feet around him would suddenly drop. Kazu coughed up a bit of blood during this, the technique from earlier was really starting to affect him. If he had any hope of winning, it needed to be soon. Not to mention this move definitely drained his chakra, but he hadn't used nearly as much as the other fights yet. Hopefully, this move would keep Shigure at bay for a moment, giving Kazu a moment to breathe. In case that didn't happen though, Kazu tried to make conversation. "Your speed is really something else, that and your endurance. You're an amazing opponent Shigure." Hopefully, this would give him a breather.

"a cold disposition".
"No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living."

BELOW ZERO

Kazu was quite nimble, and he climbed the wall when Shigure used his explosive tags, successfully escaping from their area of effect. "Quick thinking." Shigure noted, cracking a smirk for the first time since the fight started. This fight, although he initially started motivated by anger, he was slowly growing to enjoy the challenge and his mind was forgetting about the pain he was feeling in his heart for the time being. This made him more careful, so when Kazu went up, Shigure halted his advance and observed him, seeing the chakra building up inside of him and when he landed back on the ground, he executed his technique, and what an impressive technique it was.

Shigure saw it just as he felt it. A large area of 100 feet diametre with Kazu at its centre was dropping in temperature. Even though he used warm clothing, the freezing temperature was too much and he could see his own breathing. Kazu's chakra was all over this area, controlling this temperature, and he could see it flowing from his chakra pathway system to the outside, as if he was a freezing machine.

Still, the fact that he was trying to keep a healthy distance from Shigure would be playing in the Hyuuga's favour. Retreating for the first time since the battle started, using his Byakugan to guide him out of the area of his chakra, the Hyuuga walked away from the freezing circle, and he immediately felt the relief from a more normal temperature. He still zipped up his hoodie and put on the hood over his head. It wouldn't help much, but any help was welcomed.

"I can say the same thing of you, Kazu! This technique is impressive. You are acting as a catalyst of a large area, essentially changing the temperature with your chakra. I never thought such a feat was possible. However..." he paused briefly. Shigure was being careful to steer away from that area, and if Kazu approached, he would retreat more and more, or move to the sides, being able to see the area of effect was extremely helpful. "It's hard, isn't it? To mold you chakra when a chunk of your pathway system is blocked? Still, you managed to push me into the defensive." he admitted, chuckling lightly.

"So what if it seems hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honour as a Shinobi, for the price of freedom is steep."

He successfully pulled off the technique, though it definitely costed him in chakra. Shigure knew the whole technique in a matter of seconds however, and immediately started going on the defensive. He'd finally got him on the defensive, but since he knew the technique so well, he got out of his range. Kazu gave chase, switching to the role of the cat.

As he ran towards him, Kazu responded to the boy's words. "Took me a while to be able to use this but you make it sound so simple! Your eyes are definitely problematic though. If you wanted to, you could reveal to this whole crowd how every jutsu I use works." Kazu wasn't too concerned for that though, by the time he fought anyone that watched the exams he'd have a completely different arsenal of jutsu.

One thing Shigure had missed though, Kazu had to keep his hands together. On the bright side, his jutsu took up almost half of the arena. It almost made the chakra consumption worth it. As he pursued Shigure, the colder temperature would follow. Shigure wouldn't be out of his range for long. He'd stop just as the wall got into his range, standing about 15 meters from Shigure.
