It had been a long month and a half and it was all coming down to this, the girl sat in the dug out and just as the first fight concluded it was her turn next she had her headphones on but pulled them off knowing she was up next but had yet to learn her opponent. "Taki Okada, vs Kasumi Momochi.” hearing that name a tinge of excitement would hit her body with a small wince of pain, the person she both wanted to fight and also didn’t at the same time. Everyone was going all out in these exams and that was no exception for her either.

She’d gone through Konoha, another sage and now her. Each battle she had something to prove, against Shigure to prove something to her family, against Shomaru something to her village and against Kasumi, well she wasn’t sure, something to opponent maybe?

As she made her way out she’d place her headphones on her head a fitting tune playing as she made her way past the others she kept a neutral expression look on her face, something of a focused one. But as she thought of her opponent there was still a hint of nostalgia in her heart. It was just like old times, fitting the two of them met each other in a fight as strangers. Now here they are crossing swords once again somehow still as strangers, but would the outcome be the same? Face to face but 500 miles apart a Hurricane the perfect storm of mixed emotions. There was anger, sadness and flashes of how things used to be, but what would it be now that they stand as combatants?

"Bakudan! Bakudan!” her family would cheer, her mother and father would look on along with her aunt. "Oh look, Kodi it’s Taki’s little girlfriend!” her mother would remark. Kodi would glance down at his daughter. "I don’t think there’ll be any love between these two, not in this bout.” he’d remark. "That girl looks damn near ready to kill, kinda like the way she looked at that Konoha boy but less angry…” she’d say. "I dunno what I’d do if I was in this position.” her cousin would add.

With that the young Okadan would await the arrival of her opponent, her heart racing as a familiar sticking with her as she put her headphones away. "You think you know me…you never did.” it harkened back to the first words Kasumi had uttered when she pierced her heart with a knife and with her performance surely she had no problem digging it deeper for the sake of this fight the question is...could Taki?

There is only one path left to take.

The last stretch of the exams. The day had come, and Kasumi thought she was ready for a fact... until she found out that her opponent would be Taki. Well, that certainly changed some things. Taki was listening to music, and coming in rather tense. Kasumi was rather stoic herself, spitting to the side.

The more things changed, the more they stayed the same.

"Not really what I was expecting, but..." Kasumi would make a few hand signs as Taki was settling the headphones away, "I guess at least we've fought before. Eh?"

Soon, it would start to rain in the arena. The skies crying above them as Kasumi put a hand on her sword. It wouldn't be completely obvious what the rain was doing right away, but only a fool would think it was pointless.

"Makes it a lil harder to see, eh? Maybe that'll even the odds a bit."

A lie, the jutsu was meant to make chakra harder to use. This was the plan, for now. Drain the sage that had strength Kasumi couldn't compete with at full power.

"Whenever you're ready, Taco."

Kasumi would wait for a few moments, hoping the other girl would close the distance first. She was planning on keeping the sage at an arms length with the draw of her sword, if she did.

Kasumi has become known for her strange chakara form. When in a dire situation, she is capable of releasing her chakra, which in turn takes a strange color unlike the normal blue color of chakra, and takes the form of a demonic cat figure. She is then enveloped in a demon shroud.

This ability grants her a fierce looking aura, that may come off as intimidating and a tenacity to push beyond their normal limits physically- when this mode is activated, Kasumi is harder to knock out or kill and will generally fight for longer than a normal body is capable of.

However this jutsu is not meant to impair vision as it is made to disrupt chara of those within the jutsu's influence this makes it harder for any chakra that is not the same as the users chakra signature to become weakened once it has become exposed. This causes jutsu to fail unless the user uses much more chakra then they usually do in order to counteract the disruption (making jutsu that have a Low chakra usage cost require a medium chakra usage cost in order to succeed). Also because the jutsu is mist and rain as well as the fact that it disrupts chakra fire jutsu does not work while this jutsu is active. Also attempting to successfully use a jutsu that already has a Very High chakra cost could be very dangerous and potentially fatal.

"Yeah and this time...I'll break your arm instead of your leg, just like old times eh?" she'd joke.

After she spoke it began to rain? That was odd? From there the girl would take a second to take a deep breath crafting a few hand seals and then placing her hands on the ground creating a seal along the floor that extended our roughly 5m about 16 feet, With that she’d take a seat and take time to meditate within the circle. As the rain poured atop her keeping her eyes on the young girl whilst she took the time to gather in the necessary energies she needed to enter into sage mode properly the barrier she laid out on the ground was meant to be a defensive measure should the girl attempt to close in on her.

She wasn’t sure what much else she had up her sleeve but that Sword was practically her meal ticket and she was going to do everything in her power in order to prevent her from putting it to use.

And if the girl attempted to charge towards her with that barrier along the ground she’d find herself getting launched one heck of a distance and given their proximity Kasumi might’ve been right in range of the seal and might be in for wild ride. During this time the young grappler would bide her time hoping to gather a modicum of sage energy in order to get the job done to the best of her ability.

But something felt off that Jutsu normally doesn’t cost that much chakra to cast but it felt a bit heftier than normal. Was it her nerves getting to her again? "Get it together Taki.” the girl would think With that she’d bide her time gathering her energy, to Kasumi it might’ve seemed like waiting around but there was a method to this madness sage mode required preparation and giving her a moment's respite to gather her chakra could’ve proven costly but unfortunately Taki didn’t know the secrets of the rain.

As Kasumi prepared for the fight, excited to finally be able to let loose a bit against her opponent, she was surprised to see Taki do some hand signs. As the barrier went out, Kasumi was just on the edge of it. Stumbling slightly at the invisible force. What the Hell?

"Oi, what are you up to?" She'd call out, then look up to see Taki again sitting down to meditate. Whatever she was doing, it had to be bad. She'd roll her eyes, the first fun fight she was going to have seemingly ruined by some stupid technique. "Alright, then. You used to be fun to fight, y'know."

Kasumi would make a few handsigns of her own. The situation seemed clear. Taki was gathering energy for something, and put up a barrier to protect herself while she did. Considering that Kasumi was far from an expert in sealing jutsu, maybe she could get around it?

"Can't win without attacking though."

Taki was her target, and from beneath her Kasumi would try to summon a small katana like blade that used the water in the Earth. Aiming at the leg of the wrestler.

As the girl gathered her energy she’d begin to transform becoming less man and more monster her hair becoming elongated and hearing the girls words knowing that she wanted to fight her made her smile as her teeth began to take on their more animalistic shape recalling this she’d give her a retort back. "Just wanted to make it nostalgic for ya.” As she finished her statement she’d find a blade pierce out of the ground, she was astonished but after It hit her it would ring out her hand thankfully her durability would allow her to shrug it off but it wouldn't stop her.

From there she’d let out a powerful and painful wail that would rattle the Cats ear drums and from this proximity there was no way she was going to be able to get away from it.

After letting out her wail she’d charge towards the girl at an astronomical speed faster than the average genin and would grab hold of her head sending a surge of controlled electricity through the girls body and from there the lightning would paralyze her body as he girl kept a painful hold on the back of her neck, choking the air out of her. "Hang on tight kitten.” After a moment the Okadan would drop her down onto her head with a thunderous impact, using the Okadan Death Drop Technique.

the force of the blow enough too potentially concuss the girl and with the electricity surging through her body once she landed it was bound to add to the pain, however as she let her go she'd pull her right into the repulsion field and upon hitting the floor would send the girl back giving a double whammy effect of hitting your head and then getting blasted back, Kasumi was tough and Taki needed to put her down quick but she knew that wouldn't be easy so she had to get creative.

Taught while learning from the apes, it is said that those who were taught the the great ape sage hold a resistance near immunity to the technique so that the user doesn't harm theirself. The range of this while in sage mode is 45m, and the effects usualy last only for a post.

Kasumi's water spear seemed to have no effect on interrupting the meditation that Taki was going for. Apparently, gathering that chakra was a rather quick process. Whatever power up it gave seemed to make the other girl much more durable. The Hell kinda training has she been going through?

Before Kasumi could plan an attack, though, there was a loud scream that seemed to drown out all other noise and left Kasumi's ears ringing. As if on instinct to the pain, the red cloak of chakra surrounded Kasumi. This let her shrug off the pain rather well.

"Dammit," she grunted out, looking up to see Taki planning her next attack. The charge that Kasumi had expected at the start. As if she was going to be caught off guard by that.

Kasumi's hand pulled her sword, pointing it towards the incoming Taki with the deadly end forward. Maybe they'd get the chance to really test that durability out.

The change would give Taki two choices. Run into the blade and hope her newfound endurance wouldn't let it fatally wound her, or try to stop her full speed enhanced charge on the wet and slippery floor. With little time to decide, Taki would be on the spot.

As the girl made her monster charge Taki would rush towards Kasumi but In that instance Kasumi's signature cloak would reveal itself and would draw her blade towards the girl pointing it right at her. But Taki would keep up her speed and would attempt to plow through her adjusting her head but unfortunately letting the blade cut into the top of her shoulder but thankfully due to sage mode enhaching her durability the cut wouldn't be nearly as deep as it could've been. But she needed to make this moment count.

If she managed to plow past her with her speed she'd place her into a painful submission hold of her grabbing her arm gripping it tight wrenching it behind her back with a sharp painful twist aiming to break it at the wrist and damage the joints, and with her hefty grip she was sure to snap it. Kasumi was a handy swordswoman and it wasn't something Taki wanted to deal with. At the same time if she managed to lock it in Kasumi would find her body electrocuted by the raiton surging through the sages gloves.

This was done in an effort to try and get her to drop her sword and make it harder for her to use it when did manage to pick it up. Taki's best bet was ending this fight up close and while she knew that Kasumi's cloak prevent her from feeling pain it wouldn't last long, but neither would Taki's sage mode, she could feel it slipping but how she only just activated it, either way if her gambit worked at least she had the upper hand for a moment and whilst holding Kasumi from behind if she managed to break free she'd have a tough time not winding up in Taki's barrier. "Havin' fun yet?"the girl would say with a sneer a smug tone in her voice, it really was like old times.

Kasumi only raised a brow as Taki ran into the sword, mangling her shoulder a bit but far less deep than it should have been. Whatever that power up was, it seemed to have a potent effect on her opponent. Sheesh. Kasumi was really going to have to work for it if she wanted to be undefeated in this bout, it seemed.

Taki went for Kasumi's unoccupied arm, trying to wrench in one of those holds that broke her leg last time they fight. Immediately, the demon felt the pain in her shoulder- maybe even separating something in the blade.

Giving the back was something that was dangerous for a Kenjutsu user like Kasumi, though. Luckily she had trained with the Mizukage himself for just such an occasion. She remembered practicing the movements over and over again with Toru, so now they felt like second nature to the demon.

"Don't underestimate me." She growled out as she spun, swinging her sword behind her with fierce speed, the serrated edge aimed at Taki's side. If the shoulder wasn't separated before, it certainly was now. Hopefully the painful serrated blade would be enough to make the trade worth it, though.

Kasumi has become known for her strange chakara form. When in a dire situation, she is capable of releasing her chakra, which in turn takes a strange color unlike the normal blue color of chakra, and takes the form of a demonic cat figure. She is then enveloped in a demon shroud.

This ability grants her a fierce looking aura, that may come off as intimidating and a tenacity to push beyond their normal limits physically- when this mode is activated, Kasumi is harder to knock out or kill and will generally fight for longer than a normal body is capable of.

Using the the mist jutsu as a base the user of this jutsu will disperse a mist like rain into a specific area, the mist like rain is not as thick as regular mist and can be seen through by those with above average visual ability. However this jutsu is not meant to impair vision as it is made to disrupt chara of those within the jutsu's influence this makes it harder for any chakra that is not the same as the users chakra signature to become weakened once it has become exposed. This causes jutsu to fail unless the user uses much more chakra then they usually do in order to counteract the disruption (making jutsu that have a Low chakra usage cost require a medium chakra usage cost in order to succeed). Also because the jutsu is mist and rain as well as the fact that it disrupts chakra fire jutsu does not work while this jutsu is active. Also attempting to successfully use a jutsu that already has a Very High chakra cost could be very dangerous and potentially fatal.

As Taki got her locked in the savvy swordsmen would turn about but as sage mode ended she felt her grip slip, but could feel that shoulder rip. But in that same instance she’d turn about easing up the technique and her blade was coming in hot. But as the girl made her spin she’d notice her foot right on the edge of the barrier and Taki would give her a rough shove pushing her right into it and possibly aggravating her shoulder. But would still feel the sting of the blade as it cut into her stomach, and there was no sage mode to save her this time. "Gaah.”

But if the barrier managed to push her off balance Taki would take the time to grab hold of the girls waist and lift her over her head slamming her down onto the back of her head, releasing her in an effort to rag doll her a few feet away, using whatever strength she could muster. At this point it would've turned into a slug fest, Taki was cut open and Kasumi had now hopefully disoriented from the blow. For now it was a match to see who could tough it out the best.

As the battle continued her family would watch on. "Taki looks hurt, I can't look.” her mother would say looking out at the field turning her head. Her older cousin would look to the rain and then think for a moment. "It wasn’t raining earlier…dat water is it a jutsu?” the young man would wonder. As her Father looked on he'd keep his eyes on her. "C'mon Taki, pull through.” her aunt would then let out a shout. "C'mon girl! Don't let that stop ya!"

Kasumi felt her sword rip into the flesh and bone of Taki, seemingly as usual. Whatever that strange power up was must have ended just before the hit. As Kasumi was preparing for the victory, though, Taki pushed her backwards and into the seal. The seal pushed back, as expected, and Taki was quick to seize the opening and wrap her arms around Kasumi.

"Woah, wait a damn-" no time, she was thrown backwards and dropped on her head roughly, skidding a few feet away. That one was a doozy.

Kasumi went to get up, but at the same time her chakra cloak ran out and the ran ceased. Yeah, it seemed she'd hit her limit with ninjutsu for the day. Her body felt heavy without the cloak, and she spit to the side a mouthful of red.

"Tch. Don't you see that mangled side of yours? And I'm pretty sure a suplex with that shoulder made it worse than it already was. You're gonna bleed out, dumbass! You never know when to quit."

Kasumi would use her sword to help her to her feet, eyes narrowed and ready to move if she tried that meditation thing again. Once was enough of that, thank you very much.

"Neither do I, though." Kasumi would make a show out of turning her sword the other way. "And I'm done trying to maim. If we keep going, you best be careful. I'll cut you clean in half next time."

The words were strong, but it was clear Kasumi was in rough shape now. Her arm hung limply to the side, and a line of blood coming from her newest head wound. In the back of her mind, she was hoping the threat would work.

As the girl threw her suplex her shoulder injury from earlier was aggravated and her hat had fallen from her head but she got all of it. But man was she in pain. That stab wound was no joke and it was starting to get to her but even still, the girl would take her jacket and attempt to wrap it around her wound before taking a blood pill to keep herself from bleeding out, turning over and then standing on her feet, on shaky legs.

"I’ve taken chair shots tougher den dat…” the girl was no scrapper and she knew it but unbeknownst to her foe, while she was tired she still had energy to spare and needed to make it count she raised up her dukes waiting for her opponent to make the first move. "I can do this all day…and I know bullshit when I see it.” as defiant as ever. She'd take note of Kasumi's beaten down state and her inability to raise her weapon.

"You're just as beat up as me...and just as stubborn, but I know what you're doin your cawlin my bluff." with that the girl would shoot her a smirk. "You got a busted arm...and I'm stallin for time...but if we keep going we both lose. she'd look towards her family and drop her hands. "I can't afford to go down here...but neither can you." the girl would turn and extend her hand out towards the girl, a truce. "Sides all I wanted was a fight, so what'dya say I will...if you will." Man that sucked to say, but she couldn't keep going not like this but she knew Kasumi couldn't either but when she thought about it what did she really stand to gain.

The pain was immense and it caused the girl to have trouble standing, her legs rocking back and forth. "This ain't like the ring, no one's gonna just hand you the win just by showing up." those were the words her cousin imparted to her. And she was right this wasn't like the ring, her uncle needed her and so did her family and with Midori gone the village there was a lot more at stake if she kept going most notably her chance to fight the real enemy.

Taki didn't have an ounce of quit in her, it seemed. The girl stood on shakey feet and as she did Kasumi would stick her sword into the ground and lift her limp arm up to grab it. Usin her good hand to hold it in place, she'd pull until she felt the shoulder fall back into it's socket. She let out a harsh hiss as she did it, but stayed on her feet.

"Save it, Taki." She called out to the other girl, who had just finished bandaging herself. "We're from allied villages. That's why I used the other side of my sword back there instead of gutting you, y'know. I don't want to kill you, but I could have."

She'd sheath the bloodied blade, putting an arm on her still aching shoulder. Hell, her shoulder or her head. She couldn't figure out what hurt worse. She'd eye the extended hand that Taki made with a cold stare, filled with emotins that were hard to distinguish.

"I don't have anything left to prove to myself, or to you. I surrender." There was a flash of spite and shame across Kasumi's face, but she remembered the words that Taru, the top scorer had given her earlier. Thinking ahead and making the right choice was important. She wouldn't take the hand, instead raising her glare to Taki. "If this goes on, one of us could end up seriously hurt. Or dead. That'd be bad for the villages. This ain't a game happening here. I'm not gonna risk that for pride. And I'm not gonna take your offer of a tie to appease your conscious. You can have your win and consider yourself lucky it wasn't in Kirigakure's best interest for me to gut you back there."

She thought of her fathers early ended career, and how much she didn't want to follow in his footsteps. Especially over an exam.

"Someone get me out of here already." She'd grumble, spitting to the side but not taking her eyes off of her opponent. Just in case.

As Taki kept her hand out her offer was declined, the grin dropping from her face. "What…?” was all she had to say as the girl proceeded to insult her. "The hell’re you talking about…your lucky you still have an arm…I coulda...” but as the spoke her next words Taki’s body would give out and she’d fall over. "Gkkh” the pain in the girls body had caught up too her.

Truth be told there was no way she would’ve won this fight and maybe she was right but Taki figured she’d call Kasumi's bluff just like she called Taki's but too bad she was bad at gambling. As she laid on the ground medics would come for her, the girls mother panicking in the stands with her father and aunt also looking on with concern.

From there both girls would be carted off and placed in hospital rooms near to one another, the fight called in Taki’s favor but she certainly wasn’t walking off the battlefield looking like the victor. But she did what she thought was the best move but she was now left with more questions than answers confused more than anything, what happens now? She won but she sure didn’t feel like it. She set aside her pride and offered Kasumi a chance to do the same but it seemingly only ended up hurting Taki more than getting to Kasumi.

Maybe she should’ve just kept going but its over now and this one was in the books. But as she laid on the ground there was a faint flicker of electricity coming from her gloves a technique had at her disposal but held off from taking advantage of.
