At the end of the world

Rebuilding had been in some progress for a while now, construction well under way. But, now with it reaching a critical point it had become of utmost importance that even shinobi lend a hand. Rebuilding the wall had been perhaps one of the most vital thing for the village as a whole, not just the building inside. Even shinobi in training were recruited to get some real life experience under their belts, something that they might be found doing in future careers as genin and beyond. Sometimes the most mundane was dangerous.

There had been some resistance from local ruffian groups as the rebuilding was taking place in their established homes - the ruins. As it was not useful to the village - or anyone - to have an entire part in ruins, the village funded rebuilding so that there could be more homes and subsequently businesses in a whole new section of Kirigakure no Sato.

Furthermore, there was even a monument being built at the center that memorialized all those that had passed as a result of the Sanbi rampage, paying tribute to the tragedy. Their names would be inscribed permanently and remembered by everyone. Those impacted and those not. It was also a reminder of the end of the Civil War and the long-lasting impact it had on the village and country as a whole. They were mending. Rebuilding.

The academy students that would arrive today, would be placed on the very inner [pink] ring, this was the further away from any dangers and they would be put under the supervision of builders, carpenters, and other such crafty civilians. They still faced a certain level of danger but the danger was not extreme.

The genin were set up in the middle section [blue], much of their job was largely the same as the academy students, except they were also more combat ready so they were just another line of defense in case something went horribly wrong on the outermost ring.

Now, the individuals on the outer ring [green] were there to assist in great amounts of heavy lifting, but also being vigilant and guarding making sure no one could sneak through the actual wall portion that was being restored, or at least finishing touches were being put on it.

As the individuals arriving begin their duties they are not immediately faced with any ready and present dangers.

There are two threads to avoid lagging up the event.

The event will be 36 hours for the whole group NOT individuals due to the amount that signed up.

The chances for danger will be the same across both threads and if danger seeps from one thread to the next there can be some jumping/integration but let's hope this doesn't happen.

You may enter with your character and post as if you are being set to a certain task or set up your own task. But you can't do nothing.

Aiming to end the event: May 31st - June 1st

Despite his misgivings about being placed on such a straightforward task for the day, this kind of physically demanding task was just what Hatohara needed. He already had an aptitude for the more subtle so stretching out his legs and spending some time lifting and pulling heavy stuff would do him some good.

He’d been put in charge of his classmates on the way over, as he was the least excitable of the bunch and knew the way decent enough. But he didn’t care for the responsibility. As soon as they arrived he looked for something he could do on his own, trying to ditch the bulk of the academy’s contribution.

While he understood the value of teamwork and learning about unit cohesion and all that jazz, he really hated crowds. If his classmates followed him, he hoped it was to a place away from all the loud noise. He wouldn’t mind if Tota joined him or even that weird girl that was always following them around. "I’m gonna help out over here.” He spoke, only loud enough for the two people he could tolerate to hear.

Near the edge of the interior ring, closer to where the genin were working but still within the designated area, there were a few masons and bricklayers setting to work. They were moving resources from the large piles of pre-cut stones to where the workers were building up the wall.

It was hardly the most glamorous work but it was something Hatohara could do to keep his hands busy and help out. He didn’t have any fancy techniques yet but hopefully that was to be expected, given his age and experience.

LITTLE TOTA

When Tota had signed up to help the village rebuild a great wall destroy by the Sanbi's rampage, Tota hadn't expect the day to come by so quickly. The days between watching the chuunin exams and the present day had flown by, as the boy was preoccupied by intensive training and philosophical dilemmas. He arrived at the designated meeting area with Hatohara and Risa, yet lost them almost immediately as he got distracted in awe of the looming ruins.

After taking a few minutes focusing on the rubble and construction, Tota quickly realised he was standing by himself alone. The boy's eyes scanned the area for his friends from the academy. He begun walking closer to the construction site in search for Hatohara.

Tota saw an old man struggling to lift a beam of wood. He quickly ran to their side, hoping he could assist them. Gripping an end of the wood with both hands, Tota bent his knees and attempted to lift it. For a moment, the young boy struggled to heave the plank until another older shinobi joined them. "Hey kid, we're all good here. Find something else to do" they said.

Tota nodded, and let go of the beam. While he felt disregarded, he understood he couldn't really help there; so he went back to searching for Hatohara. Walking around the construction site, Tota finally found his friend again and ran to their side. "Hey! What should we help with?" Tota asked.

Kasumi was far from a construction expert, but she didn't want to look dumb in front of a bunch of Academy Students. They were efficient, it seemed. One helping an old man with a beam, the other was carrying stuff from one pile to another.

It wasn't all that terribly exciting, and this was one of the first missions Kasumi wasn't sure she even needed her sword. She still had it, she just felt wrong without it. She'd need something else that suited her skills. For now, she was using her tree walking jutsu to bring tools to one of the workers that was building up the wall. Saving him time from coming down and back up every time he needed something.

"Glad we're finally fixing this, but this seems like it's going to take a lil while." She mused with a yawn, walking back down to get a hammer. As she did, she'd be practicing her one handed seals with her right hand. Always the obsessive worker.

She had heard that there was some trouble with ruffians that were against the project, though, and would keep her eyes peeled for any evidence of such a person. With this many Academy Students, she felt a little protective.

Whilst the academy students tended to their region, Ikana had arrived to their own. She had much time to prepre for this event, and as a subsequent result, she had come here with not just supplies for her own efforts, but also that for more seasoned Shinobi to purchase for efforts further ahead. Here, she had brought storage scrolls of large variety as well as a large number of explosive tags. Having been prepared for this event well in advance, it only made sense to stockpile for the effort. Setting stall, she would have distributed out her wares to those Shinobi that looked to make a larger contribution, likely more so the Shinobi performing demolition of older ruins that were no longer useable, as well s those needing to transport more.

For Ikana herself? It was fairly simple to take out her own equipment, flipping open a large scroll and sealing what would otherwise be material that was too large to carry, finding it much easier than lugging large stocks of wood or otherwise. Ikana was one of the firm believers of the policy of working smarter rather than harder, and frankly, she kept to herself, quietly, and looking to isolate herself from a lot of the other people in the area. Even if she couldn't do much of the heavy lifting, she could still contribute, and she'd do so at a leisurely pace. Frankly?

She wasn't in a good enough headspace to be rather sociable with most, not that she really was. Ikana was one of those loners. Mindful of being watched and observed, and feeling relatively more withdrawn. Not that she wasn't previously of course, but she seemed to take solace in her self isolation. Her time in the navy had been mundane, and she'd felt weak for talking to others, relying on people for anything, even comfort. It felt wrong. How couldn't it? She felt as if she was rotting in the inside nowadays. Wanting sleep, and yet feeling restless. She felt little motivation to do anything other than work, even eating was a bother. Yet. She came.

Because it was her duty, and she'd see it through. That, and because it was part of her trial, and Ikana was known at the very least for her compliance. None could say that she was a disobedient child, not that there were many people that cared enough to send her orders and demands in the first place. Ikana came to look at the ruins of the village, and the horrors it endured, she began distributing all of her useable stock until none remained. Hopefully the Jonin and Chunin in the outer layer of wall could put it to good use.

It was clear from the look on Koichi's face that he did not want to be here. He is by no means not lazy. He's the opposite in fact, energetic...and hotheaded. Koichi would just rather be spending his time elsewhere, training...or causing mischief. His tiger cub, Kumiko on the other hand looked pretty happy just to be out doing anything. The tiger cub had two wooden planks perfectly balanced on her back as she walked, while Koichi had a few in both of his arms. He may not have ridiculous physical strength, but the young sage apprentice does have enough one would expect of a taijutsu user of his age.

"This is dummmbbbbbb." Koichi groaned as he and Kumiko approached where they were supposed to drop off these planks. Kumiko placed them down rather neatly...while Koichi almost carelessly let his pile drop. Fortunately, they did not take any real damage, but it did cause the teen to get the side-eye from some of the workers he was bringing these to, and a disappointed look on Kumiko's face. Koichi simply folded his arms on the back of his head before glancing over at Kumiko. "Tch, you know you don't want to be here as much as me, Mimi." Koichi claimed, but the look on the cub's face said otherwise. "Hey! Enough chit-chat. Some of the workers need some more materials over there." One of the workers said as they pointed in another direction. Koichi glared at this worker for a second, gritting his teeth a bit. He looked like he was just about ready to say or do something to the man, but then Kumiko grabbed the side of the teen's leg with her mouth, gently tugging him in the direction of where they were supposed to go. Koichi growled a bit at the man but fortunately decided to follow his familiar instead.

"I'm just saying, Mimi. If we have to be here, we'd might as well make our own fun, yeah?" Koichi claimed with a mischievous grin, as he went to pick up more planks. His eyes glanced towards the direction of where the Academy Students( ) were mostly sent to work at before snickering a little to himself. Koichi was not above...bullying children. "Although..." he then glanced over and saw a girl( ) doing a similar job as him. So many targets....Unfortunately, from the look on her face, Kumiko wasn't having any of it. Koichi then gave Kumiko a similar glare but ended up glancing away. "Tch."

Koichi and Kumiko ended up taking some more planks over to other workers. As they approached a wall and dropped some of the planks, Koichi would look up, his eyebrows instantly rising at the sight of a girl currently walking on the wall( ). Koichi has heard of this technique before but has yet to see it up close until now. "Eh...?" Koichi then tilted his head a bit. He was sure he has seen this girl somewhere before...but where?

"Wait...isn't that...?" He then finally put it together and grinned a bit mischievously. "Oi, sword lady!" he yelled to her. "You're from the exams right? The one who kicked that blonde chick's ass!" Koichi yelled. Koichi being the way he is of course did not fully grasp how the fight really went down. Koichi wanted to kick that blonde chick's ass as well for beating Shomaru. Seeing someone else beat up that wrestler wasn't enough to satisfy him.

"Teach me how to do that wall walking thing!" Koichi yelled once more before punching his palm, getting a little fired up! As this happened, his tiger cub's ears bent down a bit, worrying about how loud and annoying Koichi was being.

"What are you doing, get back to work, kid!" Another worker who clearly overheard Koichi would say, causing the young genin to give him the stink eye.

~~~~~
(Currently has all of his items)
S.A.
Wild Chakra
Koichi was born with large reserves of chakra, allowing him to dish out more jutsu over a short time without running out quickly. He also has the potential to perform multiple stronger jutsu without tiring out quickly, giving him a bit of a possible advantage over those who lack large reserves like he does or proper control of their chakra.
Tiger-like Reflexes
A thing that Koichi picked up from the tigers were their impressive reflexes. Like a tiger driven by instinct, Koichi's reaction time can make it difficult for opponents to land proper hits on him, being able to block and avoid most things with relative ease. Only folks with similar reflexes to his could potentially cause Koichi some problems.
THE SECRET IS NOT TO DREAM
Risa hadn’t been invited to tag along with Hatohara and Tota, exactly, but they were all going to the same place to help out with the rebuilding, so it made sense for them all to go together! At least, that was what made sense to her, and neither of them had told her to go away, so she figured that was good enough.
She was bouncing on the balls of her feet as they moved through the construction zone, staying close on Hatohara’s heels as she peered curiously around at the sites. Building buildings on the surface was so different from the homes they had in the compound! And there were so many unfamiliar faces around! A couple of other kids around her age, though they looked like genin since they had those shiny Kirigakure headbands—and one much older girl in a big jacket walking up the wall with different materials! So cool!
Risa stopped in place for a moment, openly gawking at the sight, before she suddenly realized that she’d been left behind—Hatohara had gone off somewhere, and Tota had strayed away to go help someone with a beam. She whirled in place, looking for a mop of unruly white hair, but she was distracted by another boy’s yelling at the cool older girl up on the wall. He was quickly scolded, and that same worker’s glaring eye darted over to Risa, so she scurried off to make herself useful.
Luckily, Hatohara wasn’t too far off, and Tota had rejoined him by the time she found him. Risa was—quieter than usual, her eyes wide as she nervously took in everything going on around them.
"Sorry, I got a little turned around,” she said softly as she darted up to the boys. With shaky hands she rolled up her long sleeves past her elbows, and she carefully squatted down to pick up a couple of big cut stones so she could start carrying them over to the wall. Just two of them were heavy, almost too heavy for her thin arms to manage, but with some huffing and puffing and sweat she managed to heave it over before jogging back to start all over again.
At the end of the world
Hato set to work immediately closer to the genin side of the ring showing his lack of fear for potential dangers, but also perhaps he wasn't thinking about any dangers as he started to do some heavy lifting alongside other construction workers. There were plenty of people to help him in his endeavours as he helped others with their own.
Tota got a bit lost in the process but ultimately got back to Hato and asked him about what he could do to help.
"Oi!" A voice called out a grumpy older man walked over and dumped two bags of heavy something near Tota. "Quit standing around! This needs taking up to the masons over there!" They were brick-laying and now Tota had something to do... Except that the bags were horribly heavy.
Kasumi found herself in a bit of a wrong section, and was approached by someone and taken to a spot where there was some aerial spotting going on, something being lifted far up into the air that needed a shinobi's watchful eye to make sure that if something fell she could get people out of the way.
Ikana did her work at her own pace, though if she ever slacked someone would come over and dump a little bit of extra work for her to do since slacking was not allowed on such an intense construction site.
Koichi was being the primary slacker though, shouting at Kasumi to teach him things. Which, really wasn't a good idea and if he kept on this way he would get smacked on the head for sure.
Risa almost got lost, but fortunately managed to get back to the fray and started her own work.
Fortunately, nothing occurred in either of the two zones into which the academy students and genin were separately relegated to.
Being stationed in the blue zone was simple. Move things here, do things there. Do what she was told. That was easy. Clearing thing when she had a large sealing scroll was easier. She listened and did as she was guided. Ikana wasn't a skilled carpenter by any means, and she had found herself doing what she could to contribute. She was sure that a good number of adults might have looked at her oddly, coming to actually put things together, considering her small size. She lugged and carried what she could. She had already given everything that was to be given out to the higher ranked Shinobi now. She thought while she worked.
A memorial was going to be built. 'Worthless...it isn't as if the dead are going to appreciate it.' Cynical. Perhaps the young girl found no value in the monument because she didn't have anyone she valued or cared about that would be on that stone. Ikana wasn't exactly atheist, no. She believed very much in Kami, and reincarnation, and other such things. She just believed that Gods cared little about the affairs and wellbeing about their creations. It was why many people suffered. She believed a person needed to take life in their own hands and make whatever they could out of it. That was the way she had lived her entire life, and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. Ikana didn't have people to coddle and care for her, and so, she previously cared for herself more than anyone.
Though one might argue that nobody really cared much to begin with. Hell, even she barely cared nowadays. She did her best to comply with whatever it was they wanted from her. Which was not limited to lugging, transport, or demolition of certain areas. So far. So good. Easy stuff to tackle. For the time being, Ikana stuck nearby the center of the area, transporting wooden pallets and large planks to be utilized by builders. With seals? Even a little girl like her could perform difficult tasks. A great investment of skill training.
LITTLE TOTA
It was only moments after catching up to Hatohara, that Tota had realised his friend was already busily working on carrying stones for the masons. The boy hadn't the chance to hear Hatohara's reply before a grumpy old man dumped a sack of heavy materials on the ground. He looked at them, curious to see what was inside but stiffled any he had to do as the man said.
Tota eagerly stepped toward the bag, and attempted to lift it. At first it wouldn't budge from its resting place, seemingly too heavy for the young boy. Going for a second try; Tota this time used his knees and the momentum to swing the heavy load onto his back. The weight bore down on his petite figure, causing him to hunch over to avoid being crushed. All his taijutsu training had paid off, surely his peers couldn't bare such a burden; he thought.
It took longer than he expected to drag himself to the area the old man had pointed too, where several stone masons had set up a temporary station for chipping and shaping stone. But once he had, Tota quickly threw the bag onto the ground. "There" Tota exhaled.
He took a moment to gain his breath and wipe his head before locating another bag, just off in the distance. Once he had recovered, Tota begun walking in their direction.
THE SECRET IS NOT TO DREAM
One of the workers came over to scold Tota for standing around and dropped off two heavy-looking backs of... something. Jeez, how strong did he think they were! There was no way Tota was going to be able to--
Oh.
It took a lot of effort, it looked like, but Tota was able to heave one of the bags onto his back and slowly, painstakingly walk it over to its destination. Risa could never have managed to do that! She was struggling with just the uncut stones in her pile! She had half a mind to pick up the other bag to show Tota that she could be strong, too, but... it felt mean to steal his thunder like that. The bags were his task, and Risa should focus on hers.
Her hands steadier now, Risa took a deep breath, summoning up every once of determination she had in her body.
"I got this," she whispered to herself, and this time picked up three stones at once, breathing hard through her nose as she flexed her muscles and carried them steadily over to the construction zone. It was hard work, her biceps and back screaming with the effort, and she couldn't see where she was going too well, so every step was carefully placed to make sure she wouldn't trip over stray debris or tools.
What a sorry look for the genin only a stone’s throw away. They were being clever with their contributions, using sealing techniques and fancy wall walking but their effort was unimpressive when compared to the three 10 year olds breaking their backs.
Hato clapped his hands together as he set down another couple stones, dirt piling up on his rough palms. He took a moment to examine the contributions of his classmates. Tota was doing it all, carrying a huge bag on his back and doing everything to stay upright.
Once he’d set his charge down, Hato called out. "Tota-chan,” He spoke calmly but raised his voice enough to be heard over the hustle and bustle of the work site. "If you hurt yourself, you’ll screw it up for everyone else.” There wasn’t much he could contribute if the boy snapped his spine in half.
Then Risa showed up, lugging along three massive stones and taking tiny shuffle steps to avoid a similarly disastrous fate. This was going far too slow. Hatohara took stock of the situation, looking for tools to help out as he made his way back to the stone pile they’d been pulling from. A short distance away there was a wheelbarrow, empty of all but dust.
Hato jogged over, picked it up and brought it back to the pile of stones he’d been tasked with. He took some time placing ten or twelve of them into the main chassis of the wheelbarrow and tested the weight. It was a chore to lift it at all but, once the metal supports were off the ground, the rest of the journey was easy as he made his way to the destination once more.
Apparently safety was the highest concern with projects like these. That wasn't exactly surprising.
"Tch, who the hell does she think she is, blowing me off like that!?" Koichi claimed rather loudly, gritting his teeth as he rolled up one of his sleeves. The hotheaded boy was preparing to march his way over to where she was sent, but then he felt a tug at the lower part of his pants.
Stopping to look down, Koichi saw his tiger cub pulling at him with her mouth and once she got his attention, Kumiko gave Koichi a judging glare....and she wasn't the only one. Some of the workers who were in hearing distance would no doubt give Koichi a similar look that the young apprentice picked up on. It usually takes him a while, but Koichi was able to read the room. Reluctantly, Koichi decided not to cause any trouble and went a different direction with Kumiko.
Koichi was now bringing a sack of bricks to one of the bricklayers, the bag practically being dragged on the ground since he wasn't THAT strong. Even though he struggled a bit, Koichi would refuse any help that might potentially come his way...though he was still muttering angrily to himself. Kumiko was taking it a little easy this time, just walking next to Koichi, making sure he wouldn't hurt himself.
The duo then made it to their destination...but they weren't finished yet. Once Koichi dropped the bag, he was about to leave, but then the worker gestured for him to come here and actually help with placing the bricks in. Koichi did not look amused at all...but the 'death' glares he has been getting from Kumiko who was trying to keep him in line were growing harder for the boy to ignore, so with an angry sigh, Koichi got on his knees and prepared himself, first seeing how the bricklayer did it before attempting it as well.
At the end of the world
Ikana was doing a good job at following instructions where it was necessary, of course, anyone designated as genin was getting a lot more physical work thrust upon them than a normal youth would due to their average strength being a bit more substantial than others, especially academy students who were still training their strength to a decent size.
Tota took up his demanded job well enough, though just because of how heavy the sacks were it did take him a little longer. Good thing he had more work to do once he returned, lifting planks.
Risa was putting an impressive amount of effort into her work, something that was quite admirable despite her dainty size. Of course she was the only small individual here, but it was impressive nonetheless.
Hato played a similar role, breaking his back to make sure things got done quickly. Surely the academy students would get good compensation for this or at least the ones that worked rather hard!
Kasumi was doing a good job at what she had been herded to do - watch the lifts, though in due time she would need to find something else to do in the area. It was up to her to determine what needed helping the most.
Koichi eventually got to actually doing some work, though not without some nasty stares in his direction for his overall laziness and attitude.
Fortunately, nothing occurred in either of the two zones to which the academy students and genin were separately relegated to.
