At the end of the world

Toru shook his head.

"I would rather a village of shinobi stronger than me," Because that would have been a magnificent feat indeed. Toru was strong, but he would be a fool to hope for the downfall of his comrades. Instead, if he stood at the top of the world as a champion, he wanted to bear the weight only of other champions. What was the point in wishing those in his village to be weaker? So he hoped that Kasumi would become stronger and he hoped Kazue would too and everyone else that stood around him protecting their country and village.

"Because then I know we will be undefeatable."

And then he knew, he would be able to crush those that thought they could get away with whatever they wanted.

Nonetheless, for the first time for Kasumi, and in one rare moment the words that Toru spoke eeked out the slightest of smirks. He never really smiled, he was as stoic as the wall that they had rebuilt, ominous as the ocean that surrounded their land. Those emotions and expressions were in the deepest trenches of his body and mind.

But it was there, a smirk.

Then his hand moved to switch to another seal.

"I think I will promote you together with Kazue-san... And Kyouka-san will continue to be your team leader."

A DEMON HAS PURPOSE
There is only one path left to take.

Some might accuse the stoic Mizukage of lacking the charisma of a leader, but the words he spoke to Kasumi only seemed to light a fire under her. It was well meaning, but for some reason in that smirk he flashed her- one of the very few he ever showed- she felt a spark of hope. Hope that one day part of the burdens this village carried could rest on her shoulders. That she could help bring the village to the status it rightfully should be at.

"I'm not convinced that there's anyone that could defeat us, even now. Might just be because I can't imagine any village having a leader with talent like yours. Heh. Don't worry though. I won't let that be just your job. I promise you, here and now, one day you'll be able to really rely on me. Not just for C rank escort crap too. For real things."

Kasumi said, shifting her hand to grab his and shake it once- very firmly. As if to seal the promise she had just now voiced. She had a lot of work to do if she wanted to catch up, though, and with Toru's help she knew she was very close to mastering the one handed seals.

"Don't make me wait on Kazue though, eh? That boy's lazy and dumb. He might need a good kick in the ass to get moving on his promotion." Kasumi ignored the irony of that statement. "In fact, maybe I'll find him now and give it to him. I'll let you enjoy your free time. Now that I've put ya in such a good mood, heh."

She'd add a wink to the last line, before breaking their physical contact. Yeah, she was going to be busy very soon. No point dragging it out.

"I'll see you when I'm chuunin, Mizukage-sama."

With that, she'd take her leave.

SAs:
Demon Chakra:

Kasumi has become known for her strange chakara form. When in a dire situation, she is capable of releasing her chakra, which in turn takes a strange color unlike the normal blue color of chakra, and takes the form of a demonic cat figure. She is then enveloped in a demon shroud.

This ability grants her a fierce looking aura, that may come off as intimidating and a tenacity to push beyond their normal limits physically- when this mode is activated, Kasumi is harder to knock out or kill and will generally fight for longer than a normal body is capable of.

Keeping this ability active has a medium drain on Kasumi's chakara.

Demon sword style:
Since a young age, Kasumi has felt the weight of a sword in her hands. She's practiced combat with swords, and is able to compete with some of the best sword users around. That said, people who lack training with a sword or intensive Taijutsu tend to be overwhelmed by her skill.

Demon chakra pool:
Kasumi was born with higher than average chakara reserves, letting her use more chakara and jutsu without being exhausted. A natural gift from her lineage. She has learned how to properly take advantage of these reserves.

Equipment: Hakushika Kami

Their hands parted, Kasumi spoke, and Toru gave her a very simple nod. Though his smirk had long since disappeared, after all, such moments were flickers in time. Coming and going like sand slipping through parted fingers, or water in a river, rushing over stone. Toru was a constant, and so those moments of inconsistency were few and far in between. Other's seemed to care a lot about this, but Toru did not. It was because he knew those spare moments meant a lot more than someone consistently cheerful, giving false hope when there was none. He was a horrible realist in a world of dark pessimism and blinding optimism. Neither worked well for a leader he felt... Being a leader had made him all too aware of this.

He closed his eyes for a moment.

"Let's hope he doesn't get scared off from being a shinobi, hm?" He commented rhetorically, he did not mean for there to be a response as Kasumi gave her goodbye's, telling him that she would see him again when she was chunin. He hoped that was the case.

At least he had managed to get her out of her slump, it did make him feel good to know that he was capable of inspiring something in others.

Did it make him a worthwhile leader then? He hoped so.
