Sitting in the academy after hours, he and Nageku were in a detention, among a few other students - sat in a more typical classroom comprised of individual desks than a lecture hall with rows of seats. For some twenty minutes, Hotarubi had held his hands cross his stomach as he drifted in and out of consciousness. Daydreaming, not doing the work provided to them but otherwise a simple enough

Hotarubi's eyes closed, finally starting to get the better of him - and he fell out of his seat. Not sure how, but one second he had been dozing off and the next his ass was on its side on the floor, creating a mighty crash and waking him all the same. "Hotarubi! Stand at the back of the class!" They weren't having it, and Hotarubi was just getting his bearings back. Looking around - had he been pushed or had he just fallen out of his seat? He yawned as he stood up. The end of the day had come by, but he looked to Nageku to see what their impression had been.

"Whadda..?" he did go to the back of the classroom, yawning again. What had they even done to deserve this fate?

Sand paper... or something resembling it was slowly being made on his brother's desk. Having produced glue from god knows here the Yamakira was actually proving to be quite the arts and crafts guy... which was really out of place at how short-tempered and aggressive Nageku was. The rockheaded jerk often showing a contempt towards the idea that he could be soft, but he often did things really antithetical to his own philosophy. Gods help anyone who would decide to call him out, he had broken some kids with his heightened strength and durability in academy spars before... despite their usual separation sparring was often something the academy kept yamakira to yamakira for because others tended to come out too damaged to be properly healed.

Having covered a piece of paper in glue using the pen of the kid sitting next to him before returning int the room would get filled with the sounds of gratting as Naga started to grind his hands together rubbing specs of stone onto the glue on the paper like it was a child covering paper in glitter. His hands pulling away having been literally grated down to thin lines. The teacher looming over the desk, but standing shorter than the Yamakira even while sitting by the time Naga noticed their presence he was already being pointed to the back wall to stand next to his moron of a brother.

"Slacking were ya. Lazy prick."

He yawned at Nageku as a response to being called lazy, seemingly unbothered - like they weren't in here for similar reasons. "Yeah, yeah."

Hotarubi wasn't about to have that, though, in a room full of other students in detention. He would scratch at his body, pulling off some little rocks from his earthen form, as though scratching an itch, he held them in his palm openly and kept a keen eye on the teacher - it was as though he were actually paying attention.

And as soon as the teacher's head was turned, from his hip, he whipped his hand toward Nageku and let them fly, cracking against the different materials in the room and hopefully against Nageku - obviously, that would draw attention to him. Hotarubi immediately placed his hand on his side after throwing; obviously, being made of stone, it was clearly him. But - that didn't stop Hotarubi from trying.

"What? I didn't do shit." He uttered to the classroom. But, it was a thinly veiled smile. "Gambare gambare senpai," and he broke out in a fit of laughter, not able to contain the sly sarcasm at his brother. "Shut the hell up!" The teacher had definitely little patience for the two of them. "Maybe you can make fun of your brother when you learn how to count without using your fingers, you child," he chided Hotarubi, causing him to fault in his step and pep slightly - and his face defaulted to monotone again, had he been human, red would have flushed his cheeks - so he got away lucky.

Initially Naga would glare death at his brother for what he had done. If it was not for the fact that his ability to control himself, in the current environment, was comprable for what 'brotherly love' the stonehead had for his younger twin he would have gone all out to ruin him, or both of them at the bare minimum. Naga refused to be the kind of prick that laid down and took anything, so instead of striking out he absorbed the pieces his brother at imbedded into his face and chest and used it to regrow his missing fingers.

It was as simple as that, but his glare would turn into a look that was normal for Naga not too long after. His holier-than-thou grin and attitude on full display at this point as his brother stiffened visibly, for Nageku at least. Hotarubi had been absolutely scorched by the teacher's comment on his piss poor intellect and at the embarassment the tattooed stone elemental would snicker and grin at his bloodkin. Holding up his good hand he would agg him on further, "Bet ya can't even count with your fingers to help ya, ey Ruby? Bwahahahaha!"

Nageku couldn't help at that point but laugh at his brother's misfortune and burned ego. Would Hotarubi take it laying down though? Naga certainly hoped not. Actually no, Nageku would make sure his little brother didn't it would be a blight on his record to for having a weak ass brother who rolled over at trouble. They were here to escape that, not invite it.

With the embarrassment having sufficiently drained his confidence, the jolt from his brother was just enough to rile Hotarubi, his nose starting to flare a bit. But Nageku knew that Hotarubi wouldn't do anything in return - he knew his place. It may not have been what his brother had wanted, but the need to obey and become a Genin was stronger than his childish need to get back at his brother for showing him up - and especially a teacher who could hold him in the academy indefinitely that was not an enemy he wanted to make.

"Am I allowed to go and sit down?" Hotarubi asked innocently, to which he received a quick and decisive no from the teacher. Was that all there was to this lesson - stand up and wait for the time to run out? Hotarubi was literally made of stone, the most enduring material in the world that they all stood on, of course he could do it and not get tired. So, he did, standing there - anywhere between making small noises and staring around the classroom, looking at the other students and the work that was being carried out.

"Is it time to go home yet?" Hotarubi would pretend pick at his nose.
