EVENT description

Background: After the relative success of the last Shinobi/Ashigaru training event, the Daimyo has cleared Yamato to continue running the program.

Description: In times of war, while ninja typically operate exclusively with their fellow ninja, Nohara no Kuni is unique in relying heavily on massive numbers of standard footmen working in tandem with shinobi forces. This means that Kusa shinobi may be tasked with commanding groups of ashigaru in battle, and this event seeks to simulate that situation.

Each participant will be assigned a company of 100 ashigaru (wielding training weapons), split into 4 platoons of 25 each. The participants will lead their men from the field itself, with the footmen platoons being represented by the differently shaped icons, and the shinobi participant represented by a star. Linked below is a possible setup.

Example Setup

Battle Format/Rules:
1. During their post, the participant can command each of their platoons to perform 1 action. This action can be to remain in place, move one tile in any of the four cardinal directions (North, South, East, West ONLY), attack one adjacent enemy platoon (Diagonals Included) or to change their formation. Platoons can not move onto a tile already inhabited by another platoon, enemy or ally. IC'ly these platoon orders will be delivered via runners, and the results of all orders will be displayed at the end of every rotation.

2. The participants can also perform 1 action themselves, with a few restrictions. They must always be traveling with one of their platoons, and they can use their action to transfer to another platoon's location. The participant can also engage in combat with an adjacent enemy platoon, keeping the no-killing rule in mind. And finally, if they have any medical skills, they can spend their action healing any downed platoon members in their current or adjacent tiles. (The amount of damage/healing done by participants will be heavily scrutinized to keep the focus on commanding troops.)

3. When ordered to, platoons will engage in combat with one adjacent enemy platoon at a time, doing 5 "casualties" per ordered attack. If a platoon's formation is effective against the enemy's formation, they will do 10 "casualties" per attack instead. (Line formation is effective against concave formation, concave formation is effective against wedge formation, and wedge formation is effective against line formation.)

4. Victory is achieved when all the opponent's forces are defeated, OR if the platoon an enemy shinobi participant is traveling with is defeated, OR if one of the shinobi participants is rendered unable to fight.

5. After each rotation, the person running the thread will post an updated map of the battlefield, then the rotation will start again.
