It all felt a little barbaric to Miroru, but at the end of the day, she understood, she was pretty sure.

The clan heads had passed down a request for Miroru and Tokaku to indulge in an exhibition match for the Konoha elite's enjoyment. Miroru didn't personally grasp the appeal of watching other people fight for fun, but she DID understand what the family got out of this.

Tokaku and Miroru were both genin, starting ninjas, and showing off their prowess against each other was an excellent way to show off the clan's expertise at even a low rank. With their clan head on the War Council, it was increasingly important to stand up and prove their worth as a clan.

Of course, giving the little redheaded show-off a chance to strut her stuff didn't take much convincing in the first place!

Miroru was there early, ensuring she had time to greet her cousin and offer a hug, all intended to reinforce their family bonds before the bout. They'd be taking it seriously, so she wanted to make sure that both of them were confident in the other's ability and desire to avoid serious injuries!

Once they'd met, they split up to enter the Konoha arena from opposite sides while the announcer made a big deal of the two, naming a bunch of the big-name Uchihas in the past- and then the two of them!

"-and now, for your entertainment: Uchiha Tokaku! Versus! Uchiha Miroru!"

Miroru had been waiting for the moment the fight was started, and the moment the go-ahead sounded, she closed her eyes as she executed a blindingly fast hand-sign, smoke swallowing her as four versions of her emerged from the cloud, two breaking to one side as another moved towards the other, with one remaining in front of her, all drawing their identical copper-and-bloodwood staffs- while Tokaku was, of course, free to interrupt and attack at any time!

[Uchiha Tokaku]

Tokaku was on her second mission since Yoru's death during the last Chuunin Exams. Her and a cousin– Miroru were going to spar in front of the nobility, odd request and overall mission concept, but whatever. Tokaku did as she was instructed. Arriving fashionably late, she gave her younger cousin a hug as they greeted each other. Before a while, just after they listed off other Uchiha that came before them, they were announced to fight. Closing her eyes the second they were told to begin
she reopened her eyes, revealing her Sharingan. Getting into a simple stance, the silver-haired Uchiha awaited for her cousin to go first.

In seemingly no time at all, just as Miroru did a handseal, Tokaku got ready. Her cousin made four shadow clones, all using a staff. No matter the odds, Tokaku wasn't going to go easy. She smirked before making eye contact with the one on the furthest right, clapping her hands together, aiming to make the clone think they're going to be sunk beneath the earth, a simple genjutsu to start them off with. Not wasting time, she did six handseals and would bring one hand to her masked mouth, exhaling a comet-esque fireball at the two on Miroru's left as it raced towards them. Finally, she'd pull her blade out and would meet her staff to blade!

"Don't think I'll go easy on you, Miroru-chan! She said, smirking.

"Aw... crumbs."

The fireball slammed into the first of the two clones as the one behind had enough time to execute a shunshin and blitz out of the targeted area. Wherever she was, the real Miroru felt the rush of Chakra returning to her body, replacing the quarter disbursed to the clone!

On the other side, the redhead caught in the Genjutsu lurched and squawked, looking down at her feet. "AW CRA- wait. WAIT I KNOW THIS ONE! This's Sink into Obscurity! KAI!" A handseal flashed, and chakra flushed out her network, releasing her to start moving again, holding back while the two others closed on Tokaku's position, utilizing excellent form and impressive physical skill as the two worked to try to get a decent smack on the silver-haired Uchiha- a task far more difficult with the Sharingan in play!

Off to the side, moving to stay roughly in front of Tokaku, the Miroru not engaging directly held her hand loose and free, watching her cousin closely and preparing to interfere if she tries to execute another clever jutsu! Or, at least one relying on handseals!

Utilized Kai to escape from Sink Into Obscurity (D rank genjutsu, right at the limit of a Genin secondary Kai), Shunshin to escape from the fireball (one clone eliminated), and a third is holding off, staying in Tokaku's sight lines and prepared to execute her own custom Genjutsu, Kyohi, in case Tokaku tries another Ninjutsu!

[Uchiha Tokaku]

Tokaku wasn't that great with her katana, with only a few weeks of practicing, picking the skill up fast nonetheless. With her Sharingan she was able to keep up with the movements of the staff, using her blade to block the attacks from the bo staffs. Two people at once apparently was her limit so after defending from an attack, her Sharingan created an opening, allowing her to jump backwards in a flip, her feet sliding against the ground. Digging her back hand into her pouch she threw a smoke bomb onto the ground to cover the area in purplish coat.

'One down… Three more to go…' She thought as she quickly stood up and readied herself again now that she bad at least ten feet of distance from her cousin and her clones. Holding her blade in one hand she twirled it in one hand, tossing it into the air high enough to allow six quick handseals before her left caught the katana and the other was brought to her mouth. She aimed the comet-like flaming ball at them yet again and ran back jnto the fray, holding her readied sword up to make her attack as the orb of embers pushed the smoke away from it.

"KYOHI!"

The word meant Denial, but it didn't line up with any technique Tokaku had ever heard of. She'd possibly seen Miroru in the family compound, shouting the word and making a nonsense hand seal, but it'd have been easy to assume she was doing one of her pretend games again.

This time, though, Tokaku's Sharingan told her what had happened.

She could see the ghost-faint splash of Genjutsu chakra wash off the disengaged copy to rush into her, but there was no obvious effect- until her jutsu failed to complete. That was the hint. Genjutsu could only fuss with sensations, so the leap to "did she make me think I'd completed a seal I didn't?" was relatively easy- it was the only answer that made her failure to complete her jutsu make sense. And as a Genjutsu specialist, she'd easily understand the mechanics of how such a technique would work.

It was brilliant, really. Triggered off nothing more than a discrete handseal in her vision. A lightning quick effect and then gone. Stopping to Kai out of it would ruin the jutsu just as easily. She could look away next time- close her eyes or look somewhere without a redhead to jinx her- or slow down to force the seals out even through the interference, but both were their own flavor of inconvenience!

The copies in front of her used the moment of surprise to hurl shuriken her way! They were off-target, seemingly rushed and clumsy- reasonable, considering the smoke blinding them to their surroundings- but she'd fallen back, and diving towards her last location was a predictable tactic.

If Tokaku was familiar with the family Smart Wire Binding jutsu, she'd recognize the set-up for a snare trap between her and the doubled copies! She could trip it early with a kunai or shuriken and move to engage safely, however! But if she didn't, there was a real chance- maybe a guarantee!- that the stand-offish copy would yell to tell them when to set off the trap!

Used the Kyohi prepared last round to interrupt the Fireball jutsu; used Smart Wire Binding to scatter wired shuriken in front of Tokaku's charge! Sharingan says she can set it off or avoid it!

[Uchiha Tokaku]

Miroru had gotten strong, but in the silver haired kunoichi eyes still outmatched. Tokaku had only gotten stronger as she started training again. She was seeing through the younger girls tricks! "My Sharingan sees through your attacks… However, you're clearly stronger than before." Tokaku said with a smirk, although covered by her mask. She saw the genjutsu before it happened, allowing her to close her eyes in hopes it wasn't an audio triggering genjutsu. Knowing her handseals had gotten faster it was no more than a second before they're open again. But that failed along with her Fireball Jutsu. It wouldn't work again if the girl tried.

Cashing her sword in one hand and if Miroru could see her, it'd appear as if Tokaku pulled a kunai with two Exploding Tags set to explode at any minute, throwing it at the copy on the copy, while also dropping a smoke bomb to cover herself for her response. She pulled it out when the first cloud was released and hid it under her jacket, above her butt. Not missing a step since throwing her kunai, she used the tip of her sword to make her finger bleed before doing six handseals and then coaching to the ground to lay her palm on the ground. Increasing the smoke within the purple cloud that now covered them until the bomb went off.

Seeing the shuriken, she held up her blade and at the last minute, managed to deflect the shuriken just right at the last second thanks to her Sharingan and started running back in now that her plan was in motion. She even cut the strings of the wires her eyes noted were from Miroru. She figured something out that could end it. The exploding kunai should take care of one of the clones, if not two. The rest would fallow soon. Once close enough she could swipe with her blade once again, aiming to cut her shoulder, Miroru would notice once she was close enough that Pakkun was on her left shoulder guiding her through the smoke!

Summoning Technique

"You've gotten a bunch better, too! Tactics AND skills!" Miroru called out cheerfully, enjoying the clash!

The two clones nearest her popped as the explosive kunai caught them both, leaving the original on her own as the chakra they'd been containing flooded back into her. As well, Tokaku's strategy to cut the wire worked perfectly, collapsing the delicately strung trap as she moved in!

Unable to see Tokaku in the cloud of smoke, Miroru flashed through a small number of handseals with absolutely blinding speed, and directed a wash of chakra into her legs, augmenting her speed to frankly absurd levels as she fell back in a blitz of movement, leaving a streak of fading electricity as she fell back past the edge of the cloud. The show wouldn't be a very good one if the crowd couldn't see what was happening!

As she skidded to a stop outside the cloud, she pounded out a single high-speed seal and re-created a pair of clones, fewer than last time to account for the chakra burnt between then and now. Her own stores were refilling rapidly, but she still couldn't be careless.

One of the clones rushed forward, back into the smoke- and added to the cloud a moment later as Tokaku shot forward under Pakkun's direction and cut it down! Outside the cloud, the two Miroru's grinned and crossed their arms, dragging the point of the stashed shuriken they had left across the back of their hands before crashing through the Summoning Tecnnique's seals extremely quickly, slamming their hands down in tandem as Tokuko reached the edge of the fog, left with the choice to expose herself or get even more clever as she heard two new voices sound off in the arena.



A female voice snickered playfully and cried out. "Oh, oh, oh! Is it time to play?! I can smell Pakkun here! Are we against the Hatake clan?!"

Miroru chirped out, "She's in the cloud! It's my cousin, Tokaku-chan! Take her seriously!" Both Mirorus then pulled their staffs off their backs and braced themselves to defend against incoming attacks!

A male voice, serious, solemn. "Very well." And then- only a single pair of four-legged footsteps that sounded very much too fast to be reasonable, punching through the smoke at what felt like hundreds of kilometers an hour, whizzing harmlessly past Tokaku a few times at entirely different directions inside the smoke!

"Hi, Pakkun!!"

"You're Tokaku, huh?"

"Nice to meetcha!"

"Me and Toshio are gonna fight you, okay?"

"Prepare yourself!"

And then she vanished into the smoke again, leaving Tokaku with... no sign of them. Pakkun could catch Nao's scent, but she moved so quickly, she smelled like she was everywhere, and Toshio... well. Even a sensor shinobi would be drastically pressed to find him, twice so in the smoke.

But it was only a matter of time before they struck!

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

[Uchiha Tokaku]

Tokaku couldn't see, but Pakkun could smell what she couldn't really see. She threw her sword up high and quickly. She had the first step of her plan already in action and now for the rest. She quickly pulled out two more kunai and two more paper bombs, wrapping the tags on the hilt of the kunais before catching her sword in one hand, sheathing it for a second. Pakkun sniffed the air and took a head count.

"Tokaku-san, there's two new clones out and she just summoned two of her kitsunes... Watch out two of the foxes are closing in with one I can't track very well and one of the clones are trying to close in, listen carefully, I'll tell you where..." He said getting a idea of her plan and adapting. He also took note of the three holes dug into the ground around her. She was getting low on chakra, so this would be her last gambit.

"Got it!" She said placing a kunai in both of her hands, one for each as she waited after listening to Pakkun whisper in her ear. She tossed the kunai towards both of the clones, Pakkun able to tell that they were clones by keeping track who was new. They were set to blow up by the time they reached close to the targets. Now, standing still, which didn't take long as the foxes got close as well. Tokaku smirked letting them do what they want with her for the moment.

She could take a hit, but as soon as they closed in, she would give a sharp whistle, she was calling her hidden reinforcements! Out of the ground came up Baru, who would take on one fox by himself while Urushi and Akino would take on another by himself. Now once she was able to be free from targets she would unsheathe her blade and race towards the direction of Miroru.

In moments, all the extras on the battlefield were tied up with each other. Foxes and hounds at each other's heels and throats, clones dispatched, with Miroru dispersing her last clone to avoid needing to have it dodge, while she exploded to the side herself, streaking away from the new shuriken and skidding to a stop as the smoke cleared, leaving Tokaku racing towards Miroru, no more tricks or tag-alongs for either of them.

Well, there was Pakkun!

Regardless, Miroru was set to receive Tokaku on her terms, bracing herself with her staff as her cousin rushed in, blade drawn. She had lots of tricks left to avoid allowing herself to be struck- Taijutsu defensive strikes, throws, and evasions, mostly- and at this point, her biggest priority was waiting for an opening. If she could get Tokaku to open herself up for a thrust or a throw, she'd be almost guaranteed an opportunity to hold her staff in place long enough for its Raiton charge to paralyze her and end the fight!

Dispersed her clone to reclaim its chakra, Raiippo'd to the side to get out of explosive range of the kunai coming at her, and received Tokaku on her charge, clashing until she can get a chance to attack properly!

[Uchiha Tokaku]

She was glad to see her dogs take on the foxes and the two clones to be taken care of. Although she was expecting Miroru to be taken off of her feet, but she used a lightning style to quickly move out of the way. Well, she did know this wouldn't be that easy. Trying to pick up speed to close her distance, her hilt held by two hands, she was ready! Tokaku smirked from underneath her mask, she was going to finally have her one on one, blade to polearm, it was time to finish this.

Her downward slash was blocked by Miroru's staff. Tokaku took a step back and begun to clash her blade against the strong wood, aiming to keep Miroru on the defense, using her father's and personal training to heart. Her will to win was strong, even if it was a spar to entertain noblemen. Pakkun had to grip his paws harder to order to hold on better as Tokaku aimed to not waste a single movement. It might have been a spar but she wasn't going give up easily and took it seriously.

She was taught to always try to give her tasks a hundred precent effort, after all. Keeping up her barrage, she was using her Sharingan in order to finally find an opening in which she could disarm the younger Uchiha and finally end this.

The uncomfortable truth that the Sharingan was going to report rather quickly was that Miroru was surprisingly competent with her close quarters combat. She didn't really leave many gaps to exploit in the first place.

She had excellent reflexes, and substantial hand to hand *and* weapon training besides. She could pass for having trained either of them as an exclusive secondary field of study easily. Rather than openings, the advantage leveraged from the enhanced information was helping Tokaku to keep up with Miroru in melee in the first place. Those reflexes meant that Tokaku's opponent was attacking her own openings- born not from bad strategy but just inexperience with her weapon in live combat- and leaving the Sharingan to help her to close those gaps and extend the fight!

Eventually, though, the skill gap was just too much, and Miroru swung a hand off her staff to slap aside one of Tokaku's attacks, spun behind her before she could react- and swung her staff into Tokaku's side, activating its Raiton conductivity to jolt Tokaku and follow her down, maintaining pressure to ensure she could taze her cousin until the fight was officially over- whether by surrender or by passing out, however briefly!

Ame (Rain) and Quick Rotation used to deflect Tokaku's attack and create an opening, then her Power Pole's chakra effect to taze Tokaku until the fight's called or she surrenders!

[Uchiha Tokaku]

While she was able to show Miroru the fruits of her labor, practicing with her blade for months before the spar, she knew she still wasn't good enough. While her Sharingan helped, it wasn't good enough. Eventually she was able to land a hit on her, causing a shock of lightning release go throughout her body. Tokaku would collapse and Pakkun would jump off of her shoulder to avoid it, sitting next to Tokaku as she laid out on the ground for a moment.

She hoped the noblemen were happy with this fight, she held back from using her genjutsu in order to practice her sword skills, that was a sacrifice she made. She closed her eyes for a moment and deactivated her Sharingan. Recovering quickly, she was tired from the workout, she smiled at Miroru from under her mask. "Good job, you won this one. Now, mind helping me up and doing the union sign with me, Miroru-chan?" Tokaku asked, trying to sit up properly.

Clouds of smoke popped throughout the field as her dogs unsummoned themselves. They did their job. She was spent however. She could go for something to eat.

Miroru finally let herself relax as Tokaku collapsed, dropping into a squat as she sat on her heels, worn out and relieved the fight was over. She was good at fighting, that wasn't the problem, but she worried so much about how badly she might hurt her opponents that it was inevitably a stress-filled exercise.

"Of course! Come on, let's show them it was all in good fun," Miroru replied as Tokaku proposed helping her up. She did, happily, and extended her two fingers to offer the Sign of Reconciliation to Tokaku, the official end of their bout.

"Mmph. Man, a good fight always makes me hungry," she murmured as they headed back into the arena halls, working their way towards the exit after getting seen by the on-site medics to get patched up as needed. "What about you? Do you usually go get a snack after a fight? I like to get a bunch of Takoyaki or Yakitori after, something good and hearty to chomp on! What's your favorite?

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"

[Uchiha Tokaku]

Tokaku got up and dusted herself off. Despite losing, she wasn't angry. She wanted Miroru to put on a show and win, or else she would've just ended the fight easily with a simple genjutsu and holding her sword to her throat. But their mission at the end of the day was to simply entertain, not really to win for some personal merit. She got to see her friend really had come a long way. It was a challenge. There were some room for improvement though. But she would bring it up to her at another date. She rather let her have her win.

Doing the Sign of Reconciliation, she hooked two of her fingers with Miroru. "Thank you, I enjoyed it. You impressed me. Next time though, I won't hold back as much, okay?" She said with a warm smile before ruffling her cousin's hair. bowing to the noblemen, they would take their leave. After getting patched up by the medics, they headed toward the exit. She was glad that Miroru also worked up an appetite. "Hmmm. I would like a few bowls of ramen to start, then we could go for either. Takiyaki is my prefered of he two. However, if you ever want to buy me something sweat, get dango." She replied as they left and started to head back to the village.

The girl unlocked her Sharingan after teammates died in the last chuunin exams she was in, her mother died after the chuunin exams ended. The trauma has given her One Tomoe in both of her eyes. They allow her to see chakra in color, although not as good as a Byakugan. It also gives her a better view of the actions of her opponent, although not as good as a Two or Three Tomoe Sharingan. It can help her keep track of movements well enough to aid her in combat, nonetheless.

Chakra Control
Tokaku always had good chakra control and only perfected it as she’s now gotten older. It helps her keep up with the toll of jutsus, by using almost just the right amount of chakra.

The crowd certainly seemed to have enjoyed the show, which meant the mission had been a resounding success! Miroru took a moment after the Sign of Reconciliation to wave and bow towards the audience before she found herself getting her hair ruffled, giggling at the display of affection.

As they were getting patched up, she waved off the medics just long enough to use the blood from her earlier summoning to call up a couple Bakenokawa to accompany her for the rest of the day. Then? Then the bandages and all were just fine. She was flanked by the tiny foxes as she rejoined her cousin.

"Ramen! Man, I dunno who invented ramen but I wanna hug them. What sort you in the mood for? Shoyu? Miso? Maybe some luxurious tonkotsu~? If we do all three at different stalls, we'll buy time to digest a little between each stop, and maybe make some room for takoyaki and dango at the end of it all~?" To be honest, Miroru preferred mochi to finish out her snack binges, but she was more than willing to accommodate a little change in pace in favor of making sure Tokaku got her favorite treats along the way!

"Just don't give up on me! We can figure this out!"
