The One That Came Before - World
Those that know of Yurai's true power and history know how old the woman truly is. This name has been given to her by people other than her followers, a name meant simply to reference how long the woman has been in this world. She came before the villages, she came before many of the clans, she came before everyone else alive today.

The Immortal Healer - Historic/World
Her time after the warring clan period spreading her name and message across the world lead to many writings of her, with this name referencing both her incredible healing abilities from long ago, as well as her 'reincarnations'. Ancient forgotten shrines or altars to her would be inscribed with this name.

God of Failures - Insulting/Historic
A name lost to history books, this nickname was given to Yurai after she tried and failed to kill the bijuu once before. As a self pro-claimed god, many showered her with this name to mock her. Yurai is known to grow incredibly angry at this name when it is said.

The Ascendant - World
A human who ascended to godhood. At least that is the claim made by Yurai herself, and a belief of her followers as well. Born a simple human, through hard work and dedication Yurai has become more than her fellow man.

APPEARANCE

HEIGHT: 170cm/68in
WEIGHT: 68kg/150lbs

Yurai looks fairly normal to the outside glance. She has tanned skin, long pale-red hair that she keeps tied back in a loose braid. Her body is very well toned, and well curved as well. She takes a lot of care in accentuating her beauty, and that means keeping wide hips, a perky chest, and perfectly manicured nails. Her eyes are a deep hazel color. She often wears matching blue pants with yellow etching down the side in the images of idly floating clouds. She wears black shoes that reach past her ankles. She also is often wearing a black necklace with a pendant showing the symbol of Gokuraku. This is her primary and true look, but it is also the one she is the least known for, as she uses this appearance when she needs to travel without being known.

When she must make grand appearances to her followers, or when she’s in her role as the head of the Gokuraku, when she truly takes the form of Yurai, then she wraps her entire body in bandages, only leaving her eyes uncovered, and a mouth drawn on. A long upturned smile with hash marks placed throughout. Every other inch of her is wrapped in the bandages, and she wears a sleeveless coat over top of it. This coat is a pale purple in color, and has two downward facing horns sewn into the hood.

PERSONALITY

NINDO: If I'm not your goddess, then pick one out and pray.

Yurai is, to anyone who interacts with her, a very outgoing and charismatic individual. She is known for having a sly smile and a quick tongue. This is a very thin vainer which can barely contain a pure sadistic woman. Despite her attempts to act otherwise, Yurai has little to no sympathy for any person living or dead. To her people are simply tools to a greater end goal, her own betterment. Her exploration of medicine has always been centered around this idea, as she seemingly has no problem putting people in incredible pain and suffering to test a hypothesis.

At her core Yurai has a hint of compassion. Her ultimate goal, the reason she is willing to cause so much pain, is because she believes it necessary to bring true peace. She wants to create a world without war, where everyone is safe from the horrors she has seen. Either by luring in people who think they have some romantic chance with her, or simply by carrying a warm smile even while describing horrible things she will do whatever necessary to further her goals. To those unaware of her true nature she’s a well meaning, warm woman offering solutions to the worst problems. Internally she will only solve someone’s problem if she believes it to be a problem for her personal goals.

Yurai also has an unending hatred of the Bijuu. She sees them as nothing better than demons. False idols that keep the people from seeing her true guiding light. She has an unending hatred of them that send her into a near blind rage when she's confronted with one. This includes confrontation with Jinchuriki. If she sees the signs of a Bijuu her usually calm demeanor melts away.

Despite that, Yurai is very careful to make sure she keeps herself detached from others. This isn’t hard for her, as the woman has few if any feelings of friendship, love, or loyalty. To her even the closest of allies should be quickly dispatched of if they’re found to be no longer of use.

HISTORY
Year -219 (BSE) ~ Origin

Long before even the first of the shinobi villages, long before even the start of the warring clans period, the world was a wild and untamed, at least, that's the way Yurai viewed it. Far less advanced than the world we know today. It wasn't the constant, unending bloodshed that would've existed hundreds of years prior, but the time that Yurai was born into was far from a time of peace. So long ago that the woman has long forgot her original name, she no longer even remembers her face, or that of her family. She simply remembers some of the simple details of her upbringing.

Yurai was born Kojima Kazuma, in the land that would eventually be named Sun Country. Her parents weren't part of any powerful clan, rather they had a simply life in a simple home, far from most of the major conflicts. No neighbors for dozens, if not hundreds of miles. They had a farm on which they grew their food, and kept to themselves.

However, nothing could stay that way forever, especially in the world of violent clans. Despite her simple life, when Yurai was around 12 years old a group of clansmen, hired by the small country, obsessed with expanding their territory, found their small home. Their demands were simply, the families farm would help feed their men, or Yurai and her family would die.

This was ruinous to the family. They went from simply feeding their small family of three, to feeding dozens of barbarians. Her family could barely manage to feed themselves, as the bandits demanded more and more from them. This went on for a few years, but when Yurai was 18, she grew tired of how her family was being used by these bandits. The girl, with no training in combat at all, waited until the Bandits came to demand their take. Three of them came, and Yurai took a large risk. As their backs were turned, picking up the crates and sacks, the girl grabbed a sickle, a tool she knew how to use well enough on the farm, and buried it into the neck of the first bandit.

The rest of the experience was hectic. She was lucky, and her first swing killed the bandit almost immediately as he dropped to the floor, blood gushing out from his neck. The girl had never seen something like this. She froze for a moment, but as she heard the other bandits drawing their weapons, she had to act quickly. Ripping the sickle back out of the man's neck, she wildly swung around her to keep the bandits back. The two of them trying to circle around the girl.

Yurai swung low, ducking down, the bandit was much taller than her, and aimed far too high, allowing the girl to slice around his knee, dropping him to the ground. She turned to face the third bandit, but saw her father using a sickle of his own to kill the final bandit. Moved to action by the need to defend his daughter. The three were happy to survive, happy to fight back. Until a few days later.

The bandits, angered by the fact the food hadn't been delivered to them yet, came to the house, and saw the signs of struggle and death. Yurai tried to act in a way that she hoped would save her family. Unfortunately the girl ensured their deaths. The bandits slaughtered Yurai's parents, and kidnapped her.

The bandits kept Yurai as a prisoner, a slave. Forced to cook their meals, clean their barracks. And this was her life for years. The girl saw what these bandits lust for power truly meant. They had an unending desire to expand, to dominate, to control. It was something Yurai found disgusting. But if she wanted to stop it, she'd have to at least learn how they did it. The more she watched the bandits, the more she began to see what it was that they did. She learned, from watching them, about what jutsu was. She learned from reading their books and scrolls how chakra worked, and even began to train herself the most basic levels of chakra. In secret, at night, when everyone else slept, she would stay up reading these scrolls over and over again to learn every detail she could about how jutsu worked. What she had the most access to were how they used medical ninjutsu to heal themselves after battle, and so as she learned the basic information, she mostly just learned how to heal. But she could use that to her advantage. After two years of learning in secret, when the girl was 21, she showed her ability to do minor healing jutsu's.

The bandits, unaware she had learned from their scrolls, considered her a healer, a natural in the use of chakra. They were ecstatic to have someone who they believed to be a medical savant. This lie allowed for Yurai to expand her role, and gain more freedom. She acted as a nurse, meaning she was often brought with them on their journey's, which led to the young girl learning much more about the shinobi world. Traveling the world as a young kunoichi, observing as combat would happen, and all the while growing stronger and stronger with her medical ninjutsu.

Yurai's fascination with medical ninjutsu led her to working on her own jutsu, in an attempt to continue surviving. If there was one thing she refused to do it was die by the hand of these monstrous individuals. So she continued to search for more and more ways to prolong her life if for no other reason than to spite her captors. Yurai would continue her work as their medic, working in secret on her own technique. Writing all of her research in a simple black book.

Her writings would be primarily about how one could use jutsu to extract chakra from another, using their life and willpower to feed ones own. Almost vampiric in it's nature, the concept grew and grew into the seals that would become her Eternal Youth and Immortality technique.

It took her a number of years, but when she was around the age of 30 she believed she had created the first of many of her own jutsu, she just needed an opportunity to use it. When one of the more respected of bandits lost his leg in battle, Yurai's opportunity made itself clear. With him stuck in bed, and Yurai the one tasked to heal him, she had plenty of time to try her experiment. Marking the seals on the man's body, believing that if he was to die, it be easy to blame complications from the blood loss. The woman would use her new technique, and quickly realize that she had done something wrong.

Instead of the bandit being drained of his chakra, his life, it seemed that Yurai was deteriorating and fading away. Her body being consumed by his. Yurai saw black, nothingness, and then opened her eyes to find she was in a new body. The same body she had been trying to kill a moment ago. Her original form nowhere to be seen. Yurai screamed, and quickly the room was filled with bandits. Bandits who saw nothing but their ally fearing for his life. They screamed at their 'friend', asking what was wrong, and where Yurai had gone. Yurai was incredibly quick on her brand new feet and claimed that the girl had escaped. 'His' screaming being a result of the pain he was in. Yurai lied and said these seals were some kind of paralyzing agent, and that Yurai had fled long before. It took her a few hours to really realize what had happened. She hadn't failed, not in the way she thought she had. She had cheated death, extended her life. At least theoretically. Sure this bandit was older than she had been, but she should be able to use that technique again. If she could continue to do that, then death was a non factor.

Year -169 (BSE) ~ Gang Activity

Taking the life of an injured gang member wasn't exactly Yurai's original plan, but it served a benefit to her. She was no longer even really expected to do much of anything. She was now a pampered leader. Without her leg she wasn't even expected to take part in combat, leaving her with much more time to write in her journal and learn more about the technique that she had crafted. She simply spent the next few years continuing her research, and trying to perfect the technique to make it even more powerful. It was after almost 5 years in the body that the girl began to notice problems. Parts of her body were beginning to suffer from a form of necrosis, parts of her skin beginning to literally decay. She felt her body growing weaker. In the same way however, she didn't feel like she was dying, more simply it was just as if she was getting weaker.

It wasn't a good thing. She was incredibly worried, as were the bandits around her. They would send medic after medic her way. This angered Yurai in a way she didn't truly understand. Put simply, these medics were worse than her. She didn't respect their abilities. She had cheated death, these ones fail to battle simple illness. It was actively infuriating to Yurai, and she often found herself laughing at their attempts at healing her. The discovery of the problems with her technique didn't blunt her ego in the slightest. Instead the floundering of these medics seemed to only grow Yurai's sense of entitlement. She didn't fear death any longer, and so even with parts of her body literally decaying, she continued to enjoy the pampering she was now receiving. It would be another number of years before she'd find an opportunity to move on. One of the many medics tasked with caring for her decaying body seemed the best option. A young body, even younger than Yurai's old body had been when she originally took this new one.

Alone with the medic Yurai struck, subduing her quickly, and using the Eternal Youth and Immortality technique for the second time. Shifting into a new body she felt invigorated. It had taken a lot of energy out of her, she wasn't going to be in any position to fight, but after a few days it was as if she was young again. She was. The first body snatch had certainly grown her ego, proven to her that she could cheat death. This one, however, made her feel younger, as if her power had returned to normal. This proved to her that not only was she now functionally immortal, but that she wouldn't suffer from the woes of aging at all if she could just continue to find new bodies. To Yurai, this was all the evidence she needed to come to an important decision: she was above the common people. An immortal could only truly be one thing, a god.

Year  -156 (BSE) ~ Godhood

Yurai continued living in her mortal form, through no choice of her own. She truly believed that she had been born into this body by fluke. Clearly with the abilities she possessed she was a divine entity, and she would travel the world to find a way to ascend. Traveling the continent she was born to, switching bodies when she deemed necessary, and searching for more power. Her time as a bandit had seen her hear rumors of massive beasts. Entities so large and powerful that some had even taken to worshipping them. To her it seemed the best way to learn more about her own power. For a few decades she would wander the lands to try and locate these near mythical creatures. Always hearing rumors of their power, even at times being shown signs of their destruction, but always seemingly behind them. Never able to actually find out where they were, only where they had been. Her journey would see her own name growing as well. Her power was, at times, revealed to others. Even when in young bodies she was able to recall details of times decades earlier. At times she would even showcase the actual body stealing. When she believed it to her benefit, some people would even volunteer to give their body for such a powerful display. Old writings will sometimes mention 'The Immortal'. Yurai had what she had truly desired, worship. People saw her as a true immortal, even if they didn't see her as a god yet.

It was this time, before the warring clans period had ebegin, that the "Gokuraku" can technically trace it's origins, though long before the official church formed. These were simply a band of Worshippers of Yurai, the name she had chosen for herself after forgetting her birth name decades earlier. This small band of disciples kept writings about Yurai, and even took special notes to mention her skills as a medic and a healer, as well as the small black book she used to write her secrets. Yurai was happy to be worshipped, but she needed to spread her message further, and she had heard rumors of an entire separate continent full of people to spread her message too. So, shortly before the warring clans period would come to fruition, Yurai made her way to what would eventually become known as Wind Country.

Year 0 - 250 ~ Proselytism

The period of the Warring Clans began. There were not yet the hidden shinobi villages, and the protection of countries from war was nowhere near as strong as it would one day. Conflict was far from unheard of during this time. The chaos of a time like this was also the growth of many clans, but more importantly for Yurai, their was also the growth of the religious. Yurai had become fully convinced of her own divinity at this point, and had managed to find many who believed in her power as well. Yurai's power was firmly established, and if Yurai had her way all would know the true power of a god. Though many did understand the way of shinobi, and the clans certainly had some amazing abilities, Yurai used her knowledge of medical ninjutsu to show others that she was a healer to be worshipped. She would travel the lands of the shinobi and showcase her abilities. To many it was enough to convince them of her divinity. Even if some didn't truly believe she was a god, her powers of healing were enough to gain their loyalty to her cause. And those who were gifted by the sight of her body snatching abilities often referred to it as the reincarnation of a god. And so Yurai's legacy grew, altars to her created across many places in the shinobi world, many stories written in her honor.

With the growth of her influence also came the growth of her ego, and the desperation of her search for the Bijuu. It took her literal generations to actually manage to chase one down, loosing count of how many times she had reincarnated at this point, in the year 115, she had finally managed to be in the spot she was almost certain one would appear. Those of the Aiel of The Land of Wind had been said to worship a giant tanuki made of sand. A demon of great power that the Aiel had even managed to imitate in their own way. Yurai, and a small group of her followers, would travel and follow an enclave of the Aiel, and having observed them for months, Yurai finally saw the beast. Larger than any beast she had ever seen, it's steps causing the ground to shake. The Aiel worshipped it. True worship.

Her own followers seemed enamored by the beasts strength. She even saw a few of them dropping to their knees, no better than the Aiel they had been watching. Yurai was angered by this. Her followers would dare to worship this... demon. Yurai had tried to show her mercy by focusing on her healing abilities to grow her popularity. Seeing how this beast could be worshipped the same made Yurai realize that fear could be just as good of a motivator. And she slaughtered 10 of her own followers. Using her poison to create a terrifying visual as they would all bleed from their eyes, their hands and feet turning black from a version of necrosis. Yurai made it clear to her still living followers that they should spread her message far and wide, Yurai was a vengeful god. And the worshippers of false idols would die.

Yurai was furious, and wanted to kill the beast where it stood, but she knew she couldn't. Not with how strong she was now. But her followers deserved to grow more, and Yurai had amassed what she thought to be a formidable following. Yurai came the very thing that had terrified her in her youth, a conqueror. Small villages would see her cultists come in and take over. Slaughtering everyone who stood against the gift that Yurai brought the world. Her most devoted of followers getting the 'blessing' of being her next host. She grew ruthless, obsessed with cleansing the world from the beasts that stole the adulation that belonged to her. But alas, she tried to become to powerful to soon, and the many clans of the shinobi world saw her cult as a threat to them. Her attacks on them lead to responses of violence, and the great following she had tried to grow was slaughtered over time, leaving only a few devotees forced to stay in the darkness.

Year 250 - 885 ~ Before the Villages

After the initial strike of her cult failed, and she and her followers sunk into the shadows, Yurai began to change her strategy. In a distant island, what would become known as Shadow Country, Yurai and her followers flocked. It was here that she would make her followers into far more.

    Gokuraku. Paradise on Earth.

It was the promise that Yurai had given all of her followers. Here the Gokuraku officially began. Yurai would form the organization under a brand new form. Legends of the fiery red hair of the Gokuraku's first ever Keeper of Paradise. Yurai would show the Gokuraku has a wonderful religion, burdened with the task of bringing Paradise to the world. Yurai would spend the decades, the centuries, growing her religion.

However, her body wouldn't last forever. And if she wanted to grasp the continent she once had, she had to hide her history. She no longer wanted her divinity to be public, she needed to sink into the shadows. Only her loyal few would know the truth of the Gokuraku. Her religion had rules, and an election for an heir to her regency other than herself was underway. Yurai prepared her followers for what she called her true ascension. She would shed her mortal form, and ascend to the paradise above. From her perch in heaven her new Keeper of Paradise would serve as her voice on the world.

Ki Yoh was elected as the Keeper of Paradise.

Of course, the Gokuraku still had it's darker side, hidden in the shadows. Ki Yoh was taken by Yurai's first Disciples. Ki Yoh's body was taken over by Yurai, and when her 'death' was announce, her regency continued.

The Gokuraku would continue to expand. The cycle of Yurai taking the body of the next leader in line continued. Her power continued to grow. The Gokuraku itself would continue to grow over more than just Shadow Country. Over the years the Gokuraku would  gain the opportunity to once again bring Yurai to the future Shinobi world. The struggles of the world would naturally lend to a religions growth. The Gokuraku would continue to grow and grow. To the point that many politicians across the various nations would become members of the faith over the centuries. This would only serve to make the Gokuraku even more powerful, to the point that Yurai herself became privy to many events before they came to pass. Including one of great importance.

Year 886 - 941 ~ The Shinobi World 'Begins'

Yurai was not the type to allow herself to be caught off guard by the world. She may have had to stay in the shadows for now, but that didn't mean they needed to stay out of the machinations of the shinobi world. Yurai heard rumblings of the beginnings of a village in the land of fire. A village full of shinobi. A village which would forever change the balance of power between the nations.

Yurai simply refused to be left out of such an important moment in the world at large. So, she found out who the clans were that were going to join this new village. For the first time, she would allow the Gokuraku to actually be run by someone other than her. Her shadow control was strong enough however, that by this point the next heir was always a member of her Disciples. And such she felt safe leaving the Gokuraku to it's own devices for a short time.

She found an Uchiha named Tatsu, as he travelled through the Land of Fire. Identified by the insignia of the village on his clothing. Yurai took his body, his name, and his place in the newly founded Konohagakure. Uchiha Tatsu was a strong and well respected member of the Uchiha clan, and upon the founding of Konoha, Tatsu was given a role as an educator in the early version of the Shinobi Academy.

It was through this time as an educator that Yurai would once again try to propagate the stories of her faith, her prowess. The stories of her initial conquest of the shinobi world were still there, but to Yurai's dismay they had been grossly downplayed. Poetry that used to tell people of the horrors she caused now bleached clean, sung by children. It infuriated Yurai, but it motivated her as well.

Yurai would spend her time searching for next steps, searching for interesting bodies with interesting powers that she could use to her advantage. The Sharingan of her current body allowing her an analytical eye that helped her perfect much of her sealing. Stealing the body of a Senju, a lost soul who made the mistake of wondering alone through the village at night gave her greater insights to the inner workings of Konha, knowledge of their enemies.

The Ancient One would expand her search, and during these early days of the shinobi world she would hop bodies for even more extreme needs: hoping entire villages. Traveling to all of the shinobi villages she could manage one by one, and ensuring that the whispers of her cult remained, ensuring that her followers could make their in roads to these villages, ensuring that her symbols could be identified by every shinobi possible.

One event in particular founded Yurai's interest, the first ever kage summit. An event that, thanks to her body swapping abilities, Yurai attended in person. Simply an advisor to Iwagakure's Tsuchikage at this point, Yurai was there to ensure that the villages would continue fighting amongst one another. Yurai wanted her cult to be known, and yet in the shadows. The more the villages were mad at one another, the more the shadow of war would hang over the world. A shadow that Yurai found plenty enough to conceal her machinations.

While Yurai certainly exacerbated some of the flames, in her part making sure to bring up the border dispute as much as possible to the Tsuchikage before and during, to ensure it would come up in the meeting as a large dispute.

Yurai saw over the next ten years how that simple dispute would grow and grow. As the minor villages began to be founded round the continent, the tensions between the major ones only grew. Mostly of their own devices, however Yurai would occasionally have her agents causing extra conflict. Bandit groups getting extra funding from mysterious sources, shinobi going missing, anything necessary to feed the flames of the war machine. And Yurai was ready for what came next.

Year 942 - 946 ~ The True Beginning

War. True war. It was a thing that Yurai truly didn't believe most shinobi were ready for. She had seen the warring clans period. She had seen true war and bloodshed. In her mind, most shinobi living in the villages had never truly seen war.

Yurai, in the body of a Kirigakure based Yuki, would take part in the war. With the constant bloodshed and chaos throughout the lands, she felt it would be the perfect opportunity to further experiment with her cursed marks in a live battle. So Yurai would find her opportunity to do just that. When she could find shinobi left alone, those who she could disappear without anyone knowing, then she did so. And she used these shinobi as her guinea pigs. More failed trials after failed trials. Painful deaths for so many unfortunate souls. Casualties of war, thats what their villages would believe for nearly two hundred shinobi across a four year war. A blip on the radar compared to the actual death tolls.

Most of those two hundred simply died painfully. Some, however, showed promise to Yurai. Not the shinobi themselves, they would quickly become bloodlust filled, violent, mindless. However, they'd also grow powerful, their body's would warp and change, and Yurai could tell that their bodies were filling with far more chakra than the shinobi should have managed. They had to be taking it from the environment itself. It made Yurai giddy. It proved she was making progress.

What she did with the "cursed beasts" as she took to calling them was see just how powerful this natural chakra was. She had seen sages, watched Senjutsu practitioners, but this was different. Yurai would sick her beasts on shinobi squadron, and either her beast would die by the squadron, or it would slaughter them all, and die by Yurai's hand. Yurai allowed few survivors, but some did slip through, and they would spread the rumors of the cursed beast, rumors of Yurai, rumors of the Gokuraku.

Unfortunately for Yurai however, the war came to an end.

Year 947 - 970 ~ Quiet

There was a benefit to the end of the war, however. the bloodshed and fear had given many people a desire for something more. Something beyond their world. The Gokuraku would take full advantage of this desire. Her following had grew larger than they had in centuries, and Yurai finally felt like she had a true following once again.

She would take advantage of that following. She wanted to re-establish her web, here sphere of control. With herself already in the body of a Kirigakure shinobi she remained in Kiri and set up a laboratory. A shinobi disappearing every now and then, brought to Yurai's lab as a test subject.

Her lab also served as her hub of information. She would get information from her followers on the machinations of the different villages. So many shinobi desperate for something to believe in put that believe in Yurai over their own villages, and it only helped Yurai's strength to grow. The Gokuraku's shadow reach would stretch farther and farther.

Eventually, Yurai had experimented enough with her cursed mark that she had finally developed her Cursed Seal of Heaven. A perfected version of the cursed seal that had turned some into beasts during the war, no longer did it have that risk. A Kaguya from Kirigakure was Yurai's first successful test subject.

Many in Kirigakure still tremble at the name of Kaguya Shinzo, The Butcher of the Bloody Mist. His cursed seal gave him great strength, which he paid in kind with complete loyalty to Yurai. With the gifts given to him, he truly saw her as a god, giving a blessing through a curse. Unbeknownst to him, the seal was corrupting him. Making him more violent, more rash, more angry, and more importantly than anything else: more loyal.

Yurai wanted to test that loyalty, and she gave Shinzo one specific order: to slaughter his clan. Yurai didn't much care about the Kaguya, their death was irrelevant to her. However, she had a great deal of interest in testing just how far she could push ones loyalty. Shinzo hesitated. He killed quite a few, when the day came, and the Cursed Seal of Paradise began to burn with Yurai's orders as he slumbered in his bed.

The Mark spread across his entire body and he began to transform, his Kekkei Genkai going into rapid fire as his bones protruded from all angles. Filled with a burning rage that he couldn't quite explain, he proceeded to kill his own family. His mother, father, and 2 young siblings dead at his hands before his rampage was contained, and Shinzo himself passed away.

Yurai was disappointed he couldn't go through with it, but it proved part of her theory. In future she would need to start with someone who was already loyal to only her. Or, if need be, someone who was completely alone, someone for whom she could be all they had. Yurai had her cult, and she could start by choosing a few gifted shinobi amongst her ranks. But she wanted to test them on a grander scale than just a random rampage.

Luckily she would have that opportunity soon enough.

Year 971 - 999 ~ The Cursed Ones

Where better to test the curse mark than on the battlefield. When war broke, Yurai was prepared once again. Her lab was destroyed, all evidence of her existence in that space wiped away. She would travel the shinobi world, making sure to wreak havoc in specific areas. Now that she knew that her curse mark worked, she just needed to use people more loyal to her cause. During the onset of the Second Shinobi World War, she chose the Gokuraku's first three Acolytes.

These Acolytes were loyal to none but Yurai herself, no family, no connections to their clan's. Yurai used the chaos of war to hide her involvement, and her Cursed Acolytes would fight and slaughter hundreds of shinobi during the war. Their powers grew, the natural chakra their curse mark absorbed caused transformations that made them fearsome combatants on the battlefield. Yurai was happy with her work, until she saw it's limitation. All three of her acolytes, at one point or another, overused their abilities. The more they relied on their transformations, the more they seemed to loose their minds to bloodlust and violence. Slowly Yurai saw her acolytes go too far gone, and she would have to put them down.

She would try again, make more acolytes, and slowly they too would lose their minds to the curse. This patterned repeated itself throughout the entirety of the Second Shinobi World War. Yurai, by this point having relocated herself to Iwagakure, had taken the body of a member of it's War Council. When the war had come to an end, she was one of the loudest voices on the War Council calling for Iwagakure to break the peace agreement and attack the other villages. Yurai, happy that war was ignited again, continued to do live experimentation with her Acolytes.

It seemed to just grow to more of the same once again, and Yurai grew frustrated as she couldn't perfect her technique. Spending literal decades at war she still saw her cursed seal as a failure, far from making her perfect warriors. However, for now, it made loyal ones, for now, it did what Yurai would need of it. As the wars came to an end, Yurai once again found herself simply wanting to create more, to end the shinobi world in fire and brimstone. She had waited for centuries, however, and so she figured she could wait a little longer.

Year 1000 - Now ~ Preparations for The End

Yurai could pretend that she was ready to go to war again, but she knew better. She had numbers, she had loyalty, and now she had her cursed seal, but too much of her cult was untrained, civilians. She needed to train them. War had, once again, given her the opportunity to expand. Yes, it meant more civilians, near countless civilians in fact. It also meant shinobi. Desperate shinobi who had lost faith in their villages could find faith in the Gokuraku, in Yurai.

For the first time since the founding of the villages. At around the same time as the beginning of the Kirigakure Civil War, Yurai would resume full control of the Gokuraku once again. She would take the body of it's current Keeper of Paradise, Shuri Yoh.

Shuri Yoh was born "Emi Sakura" to a small family outside the walls of a shinobi village in the Land of Earth. Born during the third shinobi world war, her life was filled with constant hardship and struggle between two villages she could care less about.

Her family died in the crossfire of the war.

It was following their death that the young girl was approached by members of the Gokuraku, and gifted lodging in one of the many orphanages they had created after the end of the war. It was this blessing that saw the young girl gain a great deal of loyalty to the Gokuraku.

The girl became a teacher for the church at 16. She rose through the ranks over the years and eventually was gifted the greatest of honors: becoming a Disciple.  It was not long after this blessing that she was told she would serve an even greater purpose: the vessel of Yurai.

Shadow country had long been the core of her cult. After the war, she returned to it. Returned to the great Temple of Paradise that her followers had made. Deep in the shadow of Shadow Country Yurai would bring many of her new followers into the hidden side of the Gokuraku, greatly expanding it's military arm. And begin to train them over the years.

Amegakure and Suna get in a small border dispute? Some of the Aiel, some of the Shin'nyu, shinobi who felt the conflict served to only harm them, or were left abandoned with dead clan members around them, Yurai scooped them up to join the ranks.

When the Daimyo assassinated the Mizukage, their infighting leading to a massive war? Many left with their homes burned down, or their families butchered. They flocked to Yurai.

Wether it was civil wars in Iwagakure or plagues in Kumogakure, conflict led to desperation, and many would find that Desperation led to Yurai. Her numbers would continue to expand, her religion would continue to grow. Yurai would wait for her opportunity to strike back against the Shinobi world for what it had done long ago.

FIGHTING STYLE

For the most part Yurai goes out of her way to avoid having to fight her own battles. Much more likely to hide behind her cultists and offer support from the background. She will use medical ninjutsu to get them going, as well as her chains and Fuinjutsu to attempt to slowdown and kill their opponents. Using her Eye of God technique to keep an eye on battles from as many angles as possible. Offering constant strategies to those operating under her.

Even if one was to find 'Yurai' in combat, they would likely find that she is actually using her Dead Copy technique to once again stay out of battle. These Dead Copies will fight in Yurai's stead while she often masks herself as a corpse or otherwise hides.

These clones often show pretty well how Yurai herself would fight if she was ever backed into a corner. Relying heavily on the use of chakra scalpels or body pathway techniques, she will do her best to disable an opponent before they actually become a problem. Weakening their limbs, causing internal bleeding, or simply putting them in too much pain to continue.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Juin Jutsu | Curse Mark Technique
Through incredible training and research Yurai has created the Cursed Seal Technique and through it she is able to "bless” her followers with a Curse Mark. This doesn’t give benefits to her, but allows her to give certain people incredible abilities involving the absorption of Natural Chakra.

Eternal Youth and Immortality
A technique Yurai created to artificially extend her life.  She has trained this ability as much as possible, allowing herself to use the technique to steal the body of another shinobi, giving her access to their abilities and strengths while dominating their mind.  When used consistently it grants Yurai theoretical immortality, assuming she can find a body to jump into before her last one gets too weak.

Eye of God | Enhanced Sensory Load
Yurai through force of will has trained herself to maintain an incredibly high level of sensory abilities. This is not the sensory ninjutsu that she also makes use of, rather this allows her to use her Eye of God technique in such a way that she can see through the eyes of 50 people without facing sensory overload.

Medical Expertise
Yurai through years of experimentation and working closely alongside some of the best medics in history, she does have an incredibly high degree of medical training, understanding how to administer first aid in combat, an encyclopedic knowledge of the human body, and the ability to use that to her betterment for the other jutsu available to her.

Enhanced Chakra Control
Yurai wasn't born an Uzumaki, and unlike many of them wasn't born with their incredible natural reserves of chakra. While she has fairly average reserves she makes up for that with an intricate level of control over chakra that sees her able to last much longer than the average shinobi. Using more of her high level jutsu than would be possible for most other shinobi.

Hand to Hand Accuracy
Yurai is not a Taijutsu master by any means. In her mind, however, she doesn't need to be. Instead of focusing on the speed or power of her offensive technique, she has trained an incredible degree of accuracy with her striking capabilities. Thanks to this incredible degree of dedication to her striking technique she is able to use techniques such as her Chakra Scalpel and Pathway Derangement with a great degree of finesse, attacking specific organs, specific blood veins, or vital joints.

Hey Puppers. I'm only going to be taking a look at the history, so consider this a 0.5/2, and two more staff will complete the full review.

First up, there is no such thing as the 'Warring Tribes Period' - I think you mean the period of time before the 'Warring Clans Period,' which stretched from 1 to 888, with the founding of Konohagakure. But this time period has never been labeled before, and certainly would not have comprised Warring Tribes. A bit too much of a establishment, especially given warring tribes don't actually appear in Yurai's history. Best to remove that name, or just say 'in the era before the Warring Clans Period,' or something.

Long before even the first of the shinobi villages, long before even the end of the warring tribes period, the world was a wild and untamed.

The lore hasn't exactly been established anywhere, but the world was not wild and untamed before the WCP. The most recent time of true 'chaos' would've been about three or four thousand years ago, probably, but feudal nations have existed for the last two thousands years, at least. Since Yurai does not remember this time, perhaps it'd be best to either remove that description, or to say that's how they remember it, or how it is sometimes written about?

She found an Uchiha named Tatsu.

Stealing the body of a Senju gave her greater insights to the inner workings of Konha, knowledge of her enemies. Things such as the founding of Kirigakure only a few years after Yurai found Konoha.

How did Yurai manage to take Tatsu's body? Did they walk in Konoha? How did they take the Senju's body? When exactly did Yurai 'conquer the shinobi world?' I'd like for Belsire to approve of all the mentions of Konohagakure here, because the way it is written seems to be to give Yurai intimate knowledge of the village as a reason for why they might be able to easily infiltrate it in the modern period.

I'm also not sure what the mention of Kirigakure's founding is for - that would have been fairly public information, not something you need the body of a Senju to know about.

In fact, I think nearly all OOC village leaders should be asked whether they approve of Yurai's visits. Yes, it was a long time ago, but your mentions of that are so vague that I can very, very easily see that being used as an excuse to explain away infiltration or knowledge of some forgotten secret passage. It isn't something you can handwaive away now and then also use as evidence in the future.

I think you are trying to make Yurai far more important than they are in terms of history - to the point where it feels like they're the 'Black Zetsu' of NFB. The way it is written implies they orchestrated all three wars and pretty much every inter-village rivalry for their plans. That's taking agency away from the actual people in history.

War. True war. It was a thing that Yurai truly didn't believe most shinobi were ready for. She had seen the warring tribes period. She had seen true war and bloodshed. In her mind, most shinobi living in the villages had never truly seen war.

There was plenty of war in the Warring Clans Period. Probably more than preceded it, and more than followed it, hence the name.

He killed quite a few, when the day came, and the Cursed Seal of Paradise began to burn with Yurai's order as he sparred with a clan mate.

The Mark spread across his entire body and he began to transform, his Kekkei Genkai going into rapid fire as his bones protruded from all angles. Filled with a burning rage that he couldn't quite explain, he proceeded to kill his sparring partner. He proceeded to kill 20 others as he rampaged, but he stopped when he saw his close family, those who had taken care of him, help raised him. He hesitated, and they killed him.

970 is not actually that long ago - about 50 years. This semi-massacre would heavily impact the clan, and easily be remembered by the grandparents of current characters. It certainly isn't mentioned in the clan history. All this Kirigakure/Kaguya lore will require approval from Han as OOC Head of Kaguya and head of Kirigakure.

Again, this is pretty much saying Yurai started the war. Also, 977 is not that long ago, especially to be saying Yurai had massive influence in Iwagakure. Will require Yoshiko's approval.

For now, I'd like to see approval from Belsire, Yoshiko, and Han for mentions of their village/clans, then I'll be back for more precise edit requests.

EDIT: Yoshiko approves of Iwagakure mentions, Han and Bel will post in this thread.

To be incredibly clear I actively encourage the involvement of all village leaders in approving of this character, the Curse Mark plot is explicitly supposed to be a world plot, and as such I want all the leaders to make their opinions on it known so that I can make this a good plot for all of the villages.

Edits made. I want to defend my choices of having Yurai involved in these war decisions: I do not believe the way I've written it makes it at all as if Yurai is the reason for the wars. She's just one voice of many. Wars are complicated things with a whole host of issues going into them. All Yurai is doing is being one of many voices stoking the flames of the fire. Her being on the war council and being ONE OF the people calling for the breaking of the peace treaty is not me trying to make it as if she is the sole person pushing for it and the only reason it happened. She's just one voice of many, doing what she can to try and make wars happen. If any specific leader has an issue with the way I've put it I will work with them on that issue, but as it stands I don't believe I am making out Yurai to be the. cause for the wars

As for the stuff with the Kaguya clan, I await approval from Han on that.

I do not approve the mentions of Kaguya. This would heavily alter the Kaguya clan history and the listed event is not a minor one as it's not something you can just add in without actual modern day repercussions. Please remove.

Her interactions with the Kaguya are pretty important, but I toned down how much damage was caused, it was now localized to only one person's family home. If this is still something that would heavily alter the clan history than I'd request an explanation as to how.
