The morning stillness and quiet were a pleasant sound to the young girl, who was still not fully awake, rubbing her eyes from time to time with her slightly chilled hands as she made her way to the forest just outside her house, a five to ten-minute walk away. She stepped into the light dirt road that was well maintained by the community that lived in this particular area after crossing the brown wooden bridge that was neatly laid over the peaceful stream just beneath it.

As she walked past the houses along the road, which gradually became fewer and fewer, not that there were many to begin with, as this was still a very new area and not many chose to live here at the time, but nonetheless, as the entrance to the forest came into view, the civilization gradually dispersed until only the Gurē girl was surrounded by trees, bushes, and a forest that had yet to fully awaken.

An had the first half of the day free, so she deliberated on what to do today before going to bed the night before - some training seemed to be the most appropriate answer. The scattered leaves crunched under her every step as she moved deeper into the forest until she came across a stream and a large green area. Because not many people came by, this was one of An's favorite places to relax or train.

The forest was so peaceful that the light-haired girl didn't want to disturb it; she had a great respect for nature as part of her heritage, so she decided to quietly meditate on a rock just a few centimeters above the ground, right next to the stream. The shape was ideal for sitting on, flat and even, and it appeared to be the result of human intervention rather than natural creation.

She focused all of her attention on her breathing, crossing her legs one over the other and bringing her two hands together in front of her abdomen. Or at least she tried, because the birds' lively singing, the sound of the stream, and the rustling of the leaves in the wind were quite distracting.

Kaguya Toru was not one that often got the opportunity to get away from the busy-ness of the village that had become more like a town, more like a city. With the economy on the rise, the population too seemed to join the financial successes. It gave Toru more to do throughout his working hours, but it also meant that he could take a slightly more hands off approach on their way to the top - and he was determined for Kirigakure, and Mizu no Kuni to be at the top.

With these new allowances - that were mandated by his bodyguard and personal assistant - he found more time to be outside. To either take time to go on missions - which was not true rest - but also more time to train and wander in the world outside. He knew Kirigakure no Sato like the back of his hand, he had lived here his entire life. Seen it in its ruins, and seen all of the plans to rebuild. It was drawn on his heart, but he still felt like he saw it anew every day. For every drop of beauty that it possessed.

Today he had wandered almost aimlessly into a forest, where a creek split the area and trickled delicately downstream. He watched it, then decided to follow it. He walked without stirring the air, but his wolfish companion did. He did pick up a scent, somewhat familiar, but not enough for him to know who, and he followed it without much commitment until a meditated small body came into view.

He stood there for a moment, watching to see if she was doing anything other than meditating. She was not.

"Far from home." It was not that far, but most academy students did not leave the comfort of their home, or the comforts of the academy. Perhaps she did not have class today...

The meditation session was not going well. This battle of wills was being won by distractions. An began to pay more and more attention to her surroundings rather than her own breathing, which was the fundamental of fundamentals that were taught to her. One eye slowly opened as a ray of the warm Sun greeted it, prompting it to close just as quickly due to the unexpected encounter. However, not long after two light-blue marbles emerged from the darkness of her lids, not fully adjusted as colorful specks of color danced in front of the young girl's eyes for a few seconds.

An was about to unwind and enjoy the scenery in front of her when she heard a voice from behind her. Her head naturally turned in the direction of the incoming sound. "Mizukage-sama!" she exclaimed, standing up and straightening her clothes. She was certain she was alone, and even if she wasn't, the leaves and grass would make a sound if someone approached her, but she heard nothing. But perhaps it was to be expected, given that the other was "the top '' shinobi in the entire village, no....the entire country, or even the entire world. An had no experience with shinobi from other places as an academy student, so someone with the title of Mizukage seemed to be the best there is. No, no! More importantly, how much did Mizukage-sama see? Did I do anything embarrassing? The young girl thought to herself as she tried to recall if she did indeed do anything embarrassing.

"Ah, I don't live far from here. I was free this morning, so I thought it would be a good idea to go somewhere relaxing and maybe meditate or train," she replied to the older boy's comment, answering questions he didn't ask, as she was quite nervous in the presence of the other, since she wasn't too familiar with him. "But what about Mizukage-sama?" she asked, unsure whether she was in a position to question her leader. However, meeting someone of such high standing in a forest early in the morning was not exactly common.

Takashi reacted to An's sudden exclamation, his hackles bristling slightly at the girl though he did not immediately bare his teeth. The white wolf only stared with caution and irritation at the voice - not the quality of it, but the volume that had disturbed the serene scene.

Toru motioned at the wolf, stepping in front of the canine causing Takashi to shrink back not in submission but conceding his irritation. The young man was looking towards An, there was that slightly signature all too bland of a stare, rusted gaze examining the girl as she spoke, explaining why she had come out here - and that, he had been mistaken, she was not far from home.

"I see." He acknowledged in short never one to speak much when he did not have to. This situation did not beg him to speak in great quantity, so he remained quiet. At least until he was asked about himself, to which he looked up towards the canopy of the trees above them.

"Taking a walk." It was true, though he did not have given the intention behind his walk or more detail on anything else. He did not need to, even if he had no intention. His life was meant to be shrouded in mystery, it kept him safe. There were so many individuals out there that would have loved him dead, and he knew it, so he was cautious - even with the littlest academy student.

"What were you going to work on?" He meant about her training, but he did not specify.

An finally noticed the presence of a white-furred wolf with clear blue eyes who appears to be the other's companion. The animal did not appear friendly to the young girl seeing as his body language appeared tense; not that the young girl was an expert in canine body language, but that was the impression she had. Fortunately, the older Kaguya stepped in between the two person's brief interaction, dissolving the tension in the air.

She had wanted to inquire about the animal, but Toru had spoken first.

The light-blue-haired girl had considered it before, but the Mizukage was not a chatty person. He appeared to speak in short sentences and only when necessary. Perhaps An's assumption was incorrect.

"I see, a walk," she stepped off the rock she had previously been on, "I was thinking of working on my chakra reserves." She paused a bit before continuing, " I noticed that I ran out of chakra much faster than some of my classmates, I heard that that could be solved if I worked on improving my chakra reserve?" The sentence had ended with a question mark, indicating that the youngster was unsure if what she was saying was true.

"Perhaps Mizukage-sama," she paused, her gaze scanning Toru, "would you have any advice for me?" Honestly, what she wanted to say was "if the other could help her," but she didn't want to appear rude, and she wasn't sure if she was allowed to ask, but being tutored one on one by the Mizukage was a rare opportunity, and the young girl hoped that the other would be able to read between the other's short lines.

Toru's red eyes were rested upon the younger girl, nothing particularly inspiring behind the stare. It was as if everything was locked away. On purpose, or perhaps there really was nothing there. Toru was a complex person, and few knew of who he truly was an academy student would seldom know unless their paths had somehow crossed in the orphanage or somewhere else on his strange but all too unceremonious journey to the top of the nations rank food chain. It was less a journey, and less an ascension, more like a shove and a 'good luck.' Though the Kaguya would reckon, he had done rather well.

"Some are born with small pools and must learn to control. Others are born with more... But more must be pushed to its limits otherwise it will seem inadequate." If she was becoming exhausted, it was a case of endurance within herself. But he could help her with her reserves, if she so desired. Toru had been born with more and cultivated that 'more' into something not standardized and now with Isobu it was truly monstrous.

"The best way is to spit jutsu out until you have almost nothing left. To force your pools to recover quicker, and thus with training, expand." It would be a long road, nobody arrived at gigantic pools in a day but she could be a cut above the rest of her peers with enough training.

Toru brought a hand up, and a few hand seals later a clone stood next to him, while he went to stand near a tree.

"Fight the clone, use all of your chakra."

The older man's words made perfect sense to the young shinobi-in-training. Some people are born with more, but if they do nothing to improve it, it will remain that way. An, whether she was born with less or more, did not want to remain the same, despite having a somewhat traditional mindset and sometimes resilience to change. She enjoyed hard work because she knew it would never betray her and that the results would come to light one day. And the unexpected realization that she had improved, even if only slightly, was something she relished.

An was unfamiliar with the method's logic. She had never imagined that using everything until nothing was left would be the way to rebuild the chakra reserves over time. This did appear to be a time-consuming task, but she was up for the challenge.

The Kaguya boy went to stand near a tree, while his clone remained standing with An. As directed by the person in charge of this interaction, the young girl began attacking the clone to the best of her abilities, employing everything she had learned in the academy that used chakra.

She began by using Bunshin no Jutsu to create replicas of herself, which she used to attack the male clone. In comparison to him, the ones An was using would vanish instantly if they came into contact with the Mizukages clone. As she attacked, An was forced to keep making them. If the clone retaliated, An would use the Kawarimi no Jutsu to avoid being directly hit. She would occasionally use the Henge no Jutsu to transform into objects around them in order to attack the clone in a surprise attack. This pattern would continue on for some time.

It didn't take long for the Gure girl to experience so-called chakra exhaustion, as her body became increasingly sore, making it difficult to move to the point where the light-blue-eyed girl couldn't use any jutsu because her body refused to supply her with any chakra.

Her gaze was drawn to the two red ones as she pondered what to do next, barely keeping herself upright as a thin trail of sweat ran beneath her locks.

Toru simply stood and watched, his arms folding into the longer sleeves of his top that was worn over a rather casual inner layer all in muted neutral coloring that lacked any great deal of pop. The most interesting color he usually wore was blue, but this was entirely missing from his current outfit.

The clone stood as bland and placated as his real counterpart, waiting, knowing that he was going to fight. At the upfront offensive the clone simply jumped back, the academy clones were lacking in any physicality, they could not attack, and did not possess shadows. Mere distractions, red-eyes remained fixated on the real thing.

Mostly with a relative amount of ease the clone was able to move around, knock the clones back, forcing An to continuously use her chakra up.

In the end, the clone had not so much as broken a sweat. Though it was probably for the best as the clones disappearance by violent means would have resulted in an equally violent explosion.

Soon the girl was on the brink and Toru's clone approached her slowly, using quite a basic punch, heavily restrained to not cause any lasting damage to push her - literally into the creek - but also to push her to keep going. Some did not react well to violence, but most shinobi when put into a state of adrenaline usually could dig deep and find just a little extra.

"You're still standing, so you have more to give." And he expected her to give the rest of what she had.

The wetness she felt as she stood in the creek she had just been pushed into refreshed her a little, giving her what could be considered a second breath. As the young girl inhaled and exhaled the chilly but slightly warmed air, she expelled a small cloud of steam because her body temperature was higher than that of her surroundings. The short break seemed to have given her a bit more fighting spirit.

She lunged at the clone, who was standing perfectly still and without a single scratch. She was exhausted and heavy, not only from the low amount of chakra she had left but also from the previously wetted cloth. Nonetheless, the Mizukage had ordered her to continue, which she did, as she attempted to summon a few more weak-looking clones to aid her in her attack on her opponent. Even if they made no discernible difference.

This went on for a while, as she jungled between all the things she knew would use her chakra even more, until her body refused to move, simply tripping over what appeared to be nothing or possibly a strand of grass.

An tried everything she could to get up, but gravity was pulling her back down. "I can't move my body," she said, turning to face the older man. As her lids began to feel slightly heavier, the girl said quietly.

It was a good display of resilience and determination. Toru who was not one to be easily impressed - or really impressed at all - was at least glad to see this sort of determination in one of his future shinobi. If An lasted long enough in her training, she would become a good addition to the forces. Some, however, fell out. It was understandable, training to be a shinobi was no easy task, it required a lot of grit. It was something the girl was showing in the moment.

Which was excellent.

The clone kept on, until the girl truly could not move anymore and she made it clear with a bit of a croak. A quiet admission of defeat, though not true defeat as much as it was an admission of exactly what Toru had pushed her to do. To expend her chakra until she could not go on. Indeed, that seemed to be the case, her muscles tensed but she could not get up.

So he dispelled the clone in that moment and moved over towards An's side, pulling her gently into his arms, pausing there for a moment.
