Shisen
To cull the world, to trap it in our web

CLAN TYPE: Narashi

CLAN ORIGIN: Bochi no Kuni

CLAN RESIDENCE: Takigakure

CLAN IDEOLOGY

Little matters outside of the clan. Friends are simply a formality. Alliances are only useful if they serve self-preservation. These are just three of the many mottos that clan instills inside the minds of its youth. For as long as the Shisen clan has been known to exist, they have been targets. They have been outcasts. The world has betrayed them, and therefore the world must be culled.

While the Shisen are fiercely loyal to Takigakure, and refuse to betray the village, they regularly hold themselves above it. Children in the family are trained from birth in the art of assassination, although each member of the family has the privilege to choose the specialty of their forte and liking as they grow up. Only a select few people unrelated to the family have any idea what is within the family's estate. Even the appearance of the eldest members of the family are unknown to the public at large, as a single photo of any of them can be sold for millions as the identity of a single member is only known by a few individuals.

Although the clan values the family above outside connections. This does not mean that the Shisen clan is close to one another. Although many members will form tight bonds with select other members, it's incredibly common to see even fathers and sons treat their relationship like more of a business partnership than a familial bond. This can cause many hostilities between family members, as the concept of monetary gain from killing one another is rather high. This is why the clan invented their Coin system.

Members of the clan are trained from birth to be the perfect killing machines. Usually taught to have no remorse, no morality, and no care for the outside world.

CLAN HIERARCHY

Fukurō
Age brings knowledge. Knowledge breeds strength. This clan is ran by the elders of the clan. Those who are no longer active members of the shinobi world are elected to this council of clan elders who act as brokers and deal makers. They are the ones normally in charge of accepting assassination targets, and for working on relations between the clan and the village. There are, at any given time, 5 Fukuro. One must be at least 45 years of age to even be considered, and hold the position until their death. No one outside of the clan is traditionally allowed to even know of the existence of the Fukurõ. They never make public appearances and rarely, if ever, leave the compound.

Atama
What is a more classic "Clan Leader" This is a member of the Shisen clan that is chosen to represent the clan in village issues. They are someone chosen by the Fukurō to represent them publicly. Always someone incredibly loyal to the clan, their job is to act as the face of the clan so that no one knows to even look for the Fukurō. To anyone outside of the clan who hasn't been told of the clan's secrets, the Atama is the highest ranking member of the clan.

Shippo
The "Heir" to the clan. Not the son of the Atama, but rather who the elders believe to be the brightest of the youngest generation of the clan. They are supposed to be a leader amongst their peers, and are usually treated much harsher than other younglings for failures. This is in an attempt to teach complete and utter loyalty to the clan and it's leaders.

Washi
The second highest level of service in the clan is that of the "League of Assassins" the clan members who have been deemed the best of the best. These are normally clan members who were formerly SHUKAN operatives. Now they are tools of the clan itself. There are exceptions to this rule. Used for high monetary gain. Traditionally they take on assassination targets that are contracted directly to the family instead of being from the village. Other common tasks are working as the constant security circling the clan compound to make sure there is no infiltration from outsiders. Some members of the Washi are specifically deticated to Sensory Jamming to make sure that no one can spy in on the compound.

Shitsuji
The Shitsuji, or Maids/Butlers, of the Shisen clan are an incredibly well respected category of servant. The child of a shitsuji is automatically a shitsuji. These members are trained from early in their life in both shinobi and caretaker arts. They will also begin working as a shitsuji in their youth. The shitsuji serve higher raking members of the clan, members of the washi, the Atama and Shippo, and Fukuro. The Shitsuji are not only meant to serve them but to help educate and advise them. To this end many Shitsuji are surrogate parental figures for the young children of these families. Shitsuji tend to be the most fiercely loyal individuals in the entire clan, and almost all are taught to mask their emotions at all time.

Tamago
This is the main tier of the clan. Simply put it is the common members. It is simply the members of the clan who are still learning, still training. This tier is required to be part of Takigakure's ninja class at some point in their life.

Rules
More than anything, there are 6 rules that the Shisen clan are taught from birth.

  • No member may kill another member of the family.
  • Knowledge is the key to assassination.
  • Respect the elders, for they have knowledge.
  • All inter-family arguments shall be decided with a coin flip.
  • No matter the money offered, the ground, the earth, the natural ninja world, shall not be harmed.
  • All above rules have one exception. The betterment of the clan supersedes all.

Coins
The family coin is a golden coin given to each member of the clan when they become genin of Takigakure. On the tails side of the coin is the top of a turtle shell. The top side of the coin is the Shisen Clan insignia. The swirling black eye with a red pupil. This coin is used to solve ALL inter-family disputes, in lieu of a fight breaking out between them.

The clan hold these coins in almost as high of a regard as their eyes. Commonly, if a member where to somehow lose their coin, many would rather die retrieving it than inform the elders that it was lost.

CLAN HISTORY

Although not a true piece of history, a fable that the Shisen clan likes to tell. Before the ninja world became what it is today, the great nations were carried on the backs of turtles. As these ancient turtles died they clustered together. Where they laid themselves to rest is where the land of now is.

Despite how they're viewed today, originally the Shisen clan was no one important. They were a large family, occupying their own township in Bonchi before the time of hidden villages. The Scarlet Irises common to the members of the clan were widely known for having beauty, but they weren't fighters, they didn't have a lot of monetary wealth, and they certainly didn't have political control in the country. They were, however, regularly sought after for their eyes.

The Shisen clan, for a long part of their history, feared the warring of the Ninja world. They cared not for the violence they believed the others around the world perpetuated. They moved their small town, and found themselves moved into a massive cave. This cave hidden by one of Bonchi's famous waterfalls. Carving the inside into home after home. This ancient compound still housing much of the family today, being near the current home of Takigakure.

While the world was changing, the Shisen clan was as well. The people in the Shisen clan began to grow hatred towards the world outside of them. They fell into a dual-edged blade, while their fear of the outside world kept them safe, they didn't trust the outside world, and thus less killers could find them. The other edge however, was that their hatred grew, their bloodlust grew, and thus many in the clan developed a more violent and "pre-emptive" style of diplomacy. More people would hunt them, seeking revenge for those that members of the Shisen killed.

Shisen spent these years developing their more aggressive tendencies. It was during this early era of Takigakure that the Shisen clan grew close to the turtles of the land. They saw how they huddled away, how they defended themselves. The clan and the turtles grew a kinship that eventually formed into the contract the clan has today.

The introduction of Takigakure, the village within the land of Bonchi, was a new age for the Shisen clan. Their lack of trust in the outside world continued, but with their new techniques, they saw an opportunity for expansion. They would gain power in the ninja world, enough power to keep every member of their clan safe from those that would harm them.

Takigakure welcomed the family with open arms. They joined the village, and as the clan spiraled more into their assassination skills, they were used regularly as hitmen for the village before the ninja academy had been fully developed. Once the village came more into itself, many in the clan became a large percentage of the village's SHUKAN organization.

The first shinobi world war is when the members of Shisen became truly well known as killers around the world. The commonly scarlet eyes of the Shisen, quickly becoming known as the "Blood Red Stare of the Turtle Clan". This clan truly became known during this time for their entrapping, and their abilities as Assassins. Taki was not safe from the destruction that this war caused, and as such, neither was Shisen.

What was unknown however, was that the Shisen clan was having problems of their own at the time. The competition between the violent thread of the clan, and he more peaceful members. The divide grew, until one day, soon after the end of the first Shinobi World War, a night referred to as "The Red Night". The violent sect of the clan killed all who opposed the more violent reign, and all that remained, were the most violent of them.

Between the two first shinobi world wars, the clan helped to rebuild Taki. They would take any and all assassination contracts, and thankfully, they would give a generous portion of these contracts to the village as a whole. This gained the clan status in the village, this allowed for them to feel more powerful, and more safe.

During the second world war, the clan became close to the troops from Amegakure specifically. They enjoyed the way Amegakure defended itself, and if they could learn to copy these defenses for their own home, they would become untouchable. That's what they believed at the least.

The clan continued its ways as assassins after the second and third shinobi wars ended. The next important time for them being rather recently, during the Iwagakure Civil War. The Shisen clan took the side of money, which sometimes put them at odds with the rest of Takigakure. These issues between Taki and Shisen have not fully recovered yet. There is still hostility between the members of the clan, and the general populous.

CLAN ABILITIES

The Shisen clan has no special abilities and no hidden techniques.

They are known to primarily have Scarlet eyes, however this isn't something that all of them have, and the eyes don't give the clan any special abilities. Many of them simply have a scarlet hue to their Irises.

They do however, have their contracts with the tortoises. Allowing them to use these tortoises in combat. And to use them as defense.
