Konsho vs Katsuo vs Kojirou

As the chunin exams were set and ready to begin a special bout had been planned to kick off the show. "And now welcome to the first round of the Iwagakure Chunin Exams, the following contest is a Triple Threat match contested under Iron Man rules with a 30 minute time limit! Each competitor will enter the match and battle for a total of 30 minutes gaining points based on their prowess in battle. If either man is incapacitated or the match is brought to a stoppage the two contenders left standing will advance to the next day of the third round.” afterwards there was a pause there was tension in the air only two men could leave and one man had to stay behind all 3 competitors were flashed on screen Konsho Chizawa, Katsuo Jokyu, and Hono Kojirou.

"Introducing First, hailing from Kusagakure no Sato weighing in at 121 lbs Kojurou, Kojiru, Koojiru, Kojir, Kojoirui Kojorou Kojirou Kojirou Kojoro of the Hono Clan!” as he made his way down he’d have his profile displayed on screen along with the previously stated information, along with a set of Pyrotechnics along with his village emblem displayed on the large monitor, along with a song of his choosing

"Introducing second, he hails from Kumogakure weighing in at 120 lbs, Joooookyu Kaaaaaattttsssssuuooo!” as he made his entrance the boy would have a plume of smoke blast through the entrance way before being allowed to make his entrance adding some extra flair to his entrance along with a song of his choosing along with the village emblem being displayed and entrance music that seemed more on the ominous side of things.

As the thid competitor was introduced there was a long pause"And introducing Third, weighing in at 157 lbs HE IS Nature’s Fist and the man that Iwagakure could not contain, Chiiiiizaaaaaaawwwwaaaa Kooooonnnnshhhhhoooo!” as he made his entrance he had a song prepared to play for him one other than the one he choose very bombastic and empowering along with the Takigakure logo and a set of pyrotechnics shooting out as he was allowed to make his entrance.

As their match began a loud horn would blare as a 1 hour clock began to tick down, "Who will come out on top!”

[Honō Kojirou]

Okay, so this blew his expectations out of the water concerning this year’s Chūnin Exams. He had to give Iwagakure some more credit – they sure knew how to entertain their audience…

It’d been exactly one month since he found himself near-dead on the bed, surviving perhaps the most chilling experience in his entire life. Not only that, but to be followed up with Atagi’s incident had really daggered Kojirou’s poor heart rashly… but he didn’t have all month to grieve. His parents and other members from his clan had met him in Kuwana, not wanting to miss out on his big debut on the third round. At first, Kojirou expected to disappoint them…

Until he was suddenly informed of a Triple Threat match to kick off the third round of the Exams, with the promise of a second chance at life should he come out victorious. Now, at first, he hadn’t the slightest clue what a Triple Threat match was, but this was a Honō that we were talking about – he had a second chance to impress Atagi and his family, as well as actually gain some extra points in this Exam against all odds. Not to mention…

He did promise to show Goro too, one day. Now might as well be that day.

"… W-WAIT-"

They read his typos out loud!!! Wait, why did they do that?! He could’ve sworn he wiped those off of the- wait, when did he even write those names?! Those weren’t all of his names! Sprinting out like a kind in trouble for having stolen cookies from the top shelf, he flailed his arms at the audience: "It-It’s just Kojiroooooooooooou! I-I was- I didn’t mean to write all of that, I d-didn’t have an eraser!”

As he ran out through the ramp, not long after having gotten a sniff of Ichī’s good-luck pipe, he was met with a gigantic mass of voices full of vigor, all of which shook him to his very bone… if only for a brief instant. He’d been in Kuwana for over a month now, and these people were far too numerous and energetic to make him feel comfortable at any time. He liked the atmosphere, though… despite those previous jabs, he felt oddly… at home. Something about the stone floor, the walls, the dust in the air, it tickled his veins a little. Strange.

"I can’t even see my parents from here… o-oh, no, no, no, focus. Focus,” he suddenly rebuked himself and slapped himself with both hands to recollect his thoughts before making it all the way out to await the other two participants. The other screens revealed the two other participants – Joooookyu Kaaaaaattttsssssuuooo…

… That couldn’t be their real name-

And a Chiiiii- okay, what was going on with these names? Were they all set up or something? And these effects… the smoke from Kat-kun’s position made him look so creepy. Not to mention the deafening hype from Konsho's entrance.

Oh well, no time to waste – and no time to wait! That was how he got blitzed by Goro last time, so Kojirou didn’t play mannequin challenge this time – nay, the moment the loud horn bellowed, he weaved 3 handseals in a hurry. Clapping the ground, he raised up a tar glob the size of a person and manifested an identical clone of himself from that, before the two approached Konsho, first and foremost. The clone tried to stick close to Kojirou’s side, while the original continued approaching the only other Genin in this round he'd seen fighting before. With the size of the arena, and the threat of the third Genin at all times, Kojirou decided to grab his sword and charge towards the fancy, red ape summoner with a speed and pace that he hadn't showcased before. Far beyond what he'd be able to do normally - a small trick he picked up from meeting a certain Murahira lass and comically losing a race against her.

Only his Tar Clone was slower than the real one now. It threw glances towards the Kumo-nin during the charge as a safety measure, but it kept.

NAME: Yoton: Nechi Bunshin no Jutsu [Lava Release: Tar Clone Technique]

DESCRIPTION:
Similar to mud based techniques the user concentrates their chakra into the ground while forming the 'boar,' 'ox,' and 'horse' signs. They then pull tar into a copy of themselves. Because of the density of this clone, it can take a couple of glancing or direct blows before being destroyed. Though the clone can do no damage with purely physical attacks.

If an opponent strikes the clone with their body or a weapon will become mired into the clone, causing much difficulty to escape. The clone can also wrap themselves around the opponent for maximum trapping ability. It has the ability to be used as a base and point of contact for any yoton techniques the user has within their arsenal. Along with being sticky, it is also highly flammable.

DESCRIPTION:
The Step Method is the basis of all the Murahira's Subakage-ryū movement techniques. A human can walk, run, jump, and any other number of motions, but to truly achieve high speed they must learn to move properly. The Step Method is the isolation of technique, the removal of excess, and the refinement of action. It allows the user to move at speeds that exceed that which a shinobi would normally achieve, thereby improving the likelihood they will be able to run down a target or escape a blast radius.

It is not without its costs, though. The Step Method may be an idealized method of movement, but it is not the way a human will naturally try to move. It requires mental focus and extra physical exertion, though this basic form is less taxing than others.

Honō Clan KG - Lava Release

The Honō Clan, as famed for their ferocious view on honor in battle as they are, are also feared for their unique but rare Kekkei Genkai - the ability to channel Lava Release. Albeit only being seen few times per generation, Kojirou has drawn the lucky straw and managed to practice handseals performed by one of the few elder members in his clan who also possesses it. Instead of committing a dud, he watched his hands give birth to material that can only be described as molten magma.



Kenjutsu

Ever since he was able to hold a sword – let it be made of wood or metal – his parents dedicated their spare time to train him in Kenjutsu. They even went to great lengths to gather famous schools of Kenjutsu techniques outside of Kusagakure for him to practice as well, which includes a scroll from a school called Kenjin Nōdo – especially putting focus on the branch of Taiyō-ken (which the parents often refer to simply as Yō-ken to draw parallels between it and the clan’s Kekkei Genkai). Their efforts and time invested in training Kojirou, which led to the previously mentioned skipping of classes, has born fruits and molded him into an experienced swordsman who wields a katana like it’s second nature to him. If there’s any solace in the lonely years as a Genin, then it would be those Kenjutsu skills that have been ingrained into him.

Konsho had been somewhat aware that he had a special entrance planned for the next bit of the exams. But he wasn't expecting this. In hindsight he should have. The Okada weren't known for being normal about their fights. So, Konsho had decided to lean into it. The pyrotechnics would seem to blow his cloak, the former sage apprentice slowly walking to the stage with a confident stride. As he did, the genin would shed his cloak, which had been emptied of items before hand in case he had the courage to go through with this. Letting the cloak billow for just a few seconds longer, Konsho would bite on his finger as he signed his name upon the surface in blood, the prerequisites of the summoning technique as he was obscured in smoke. Within he'd keep a calm demeanor as he whispered to his new entourage. "Make a show of it."

The first thing to exit the cloud would be Konsho's own cloak, discarded into the arena, soon followed by Konsho, and three gorilla summons. On his right stood a young gorilla, with a tail of flame behind it. The orange haired gorilla was Daruma, Konsho's brother and go to summon, sporting an excited grin as he took in the scenery. On Konsho's left was a larger, dark red gorilla, with wild firey brows and a manic grin- Iwata. Behind all of them, last to emerge from the cloud of smoke was a full grown ebony gorilla, clad in thin metal armor, carrying a nodachi on her back- Kaen. Konsho had to admit the feeling was exhilarating. If this was what every match felt like, maybe he'd actually take Taki up on that wrestling gig.

The group would move towards the ring, looking towards their opponents. One was nervous, exceedingly as a matter of fact. But Konsho knew there were two options here; put up a facade or hope your actual skill can intimidate the others. He wasn't going for intimidation. So it was likely a facade. Perhaps he should charge him first? But then there was the other one.

Just as he began to consider the other option, his opponent made the choice for him. So, Konsho would look towards the newly created clone as he readied himself for combat. "Burrow, Burning Claw." With that, Daruma would move back, certain his brother intended for him to ready himself for the next bit of combat. Meanwhile, Iwata and Konsho would move to the sides of the true Kojirou, releasing spouts of fire in a funnel that would only leave a path to Kaen, who would begin to approach the young genin. The fire spouts would prove useful in two ways, first denying area to move, and the second, cutting the clone from doing anything but following behind the real one, or circling closer to the gorillas and Konsho. Meanwhile, Kaen would release a jet of her own fire, coating her sword as she brought herself to bear on the genin, unleashing a series of relentless flaming blows.

The fire stream is 3 feet long and 8 inches wide at the top of the fire, and slowly decreases to the base. The fire itself is incredibly hot, and can induce 1st to 2nd degree burns if touched upon directly, and even catch clothes on fire in the process.

[break]Fiery Chakra Pools
In order to use senjutsu must have an abnormally large chakra pool. So if one is to be an apprentice, they must have not just a large amount of chakra, but an abundance of it. Konshō's pool has naturally grown with him, surpassing even chuunin in size, and though he cannot fine tune his control, the amount of chakra he has available to him more than makes up for it by allowing him to utilize more techniques than other ninja his rank.

Chakra Pads
Iwata comes from a long line of fighting gorillas, and in that line, each member has had a particular fondness of Fire based ninjutsu. Even those born without its nature are bound to learn the style on purpose. Because of this, Iwata's family's bodies have adapted with small vents on their bodies, allowing them to flare out their natural element. In Iwata's case, it allows him to flare out fire based ninjutsu from his head, chest, and arms at will, allowing him to focus his ninjutsu on specific areas.

Kaen is proficient with wielding her over-sized nodachi and Taijutsu. She prefers to attack head on and as such very rarely utilized her Katon chakra affinity. However, she posses knowledge of the Katon: Ryuuka no Jutsu [Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique] and uses this in conjunction with her nodachi in order to coat the blade in flames.

Brother's Spirit
Daruma is among the summons that specializes in the use of natural chakra. He can do it rather quickly, and is passively aware of it as most summons are. Daruma mostly uses it to naturally enhance his strength and the power of his ninjutsu, and has yet to use any techniques that expressly call upon nature chakra.

The Job Squad

Honestly the fact Katsuo was even participating was a surprise in itself. He only entered because he couldn't let his brother take the opportunity to get back in the arena without trying himself. He certainly didn't think he would have a shot of actually making it to the third round with his injury. So when he found out he would be participating after all instead of training like most shinobi did he had to get his arm replaced. With surgery and some engineering, he was able to get a prosthetic that would work with his chakra. He would then spend the rest of the time after his recovery trying to perfect his mobility with it so he could work it like a regular arm.[break][break]

One month of this honestly wasn't enough he was still having issues now and then with the arm and his aim wasn't as good as it could have been, but at least it functioned. At the very least he could use both arms so coming into this exhibition match he half-expected to lose pretty quickly. Since he didn't know of their actual abilities he had one of his fellow Kumo ninjas give him a rundown of his opponent's abilities while he was in recovery. The information he was given didn't favor him as a victor at all. Still, he wasn't one to give up on a fight too easily so he would do his best though he might have to take a different strategy to this fight than normally.[break][break]

Once in the arena, Katsuo stretch his prosthetic arm around as he prepared for the beginning of the match. He needed to make sure it was functioning properly for the fight especially since this was a three-man showdown instead of a simple one-vs-one. He would get time to speak to them to slow them down most likely so he would need to rely on his weapons and his brain a bit more. Katsuo wouldn't get much prep time when the swordsman had started the first attack, but nothing came towards Katsuo. Instead, they focused on the other opponent, who came in with summons already in tow.[break][break]

This was promising for Katsuo that meant they were distracted with each other and he could do a setup or even just sit back and let the two fight themselves into a stupor. Probably best to do the former though instead of the latter so taking a step back Katsuo used the time to prepare himself. Wrapping some explosive tags on some arrows he would touch said arrows to make them into homing arrows. Then taking his bow out he aimed into the air so as not to draw attention to the fact they would be going toward his opponents and he would end up shooting six arrows. Three for each opponent and once they were at the apex of the shot he would put his bow away and begin controlling them to follow his opponents. He would, of course, stay back away from them to not be too close to them just in case he needed to run away from them changing focus on himself.[break][break]

Magnet Release[break]
Like many others of his clan, Katsuo can use magnet release jutsu. This allows him to manipulate magnetic fields to move or attract metal objects toward and away from him so long as he touches them first. As an added benefit he also has a good sense of direction.

[Honō Kojirou]

One of the summoned apes decided to move back, but at the speed that Kojirou was travelling, he was forced to keep his focus on Konsho alone and couldn’t truly process what the last ape behind the opponent group was planning to do. However, he hadn’t much of a choice when his world turned into a tunnelway of Fire Release, emitted from the other ape and Konsho himself – clearly meant to trap him in a linear path, which quickly prompted the sword-slinging shinobi to brake in his tracks. As of now, he and his clone were facing off against the ape with the giant nodachi.

And when said nodachi was coated in fire by her own Fire Release Jutsu, Kojirou felt the slightest temptation to join in on an exchange of clashes with Chakra-Conductive weapons. However, while his plan was to use the clone on Konsho himself, he was forced to let go of the Tar Clone here and now.

Kaen, despite her size, was extremely proficient with a nodachi. Kojirou always felt that bigger swords were a hassle to swing around with, but without his Iaidō, he wouldn’t have been able to pull his sword up in time, and that flaming sword would’ve done more than leave sharp chars on his upper arm. Biting his inner cheek in pain, he retreated immediately with a low, backflip sort of somersault in his attempt to evade the offensive nodachi, using the opening he hoped to make for his Tar Clone to leap right over himself – right towards Kaen’s position at full speed with no fear of consequences. The Tar Clone would almost appear to want a hug from the giant ape, but as a clone made of tar, coming into contact with the flaming sword would light the copy-Kojirou up like a bonfire.

The real Kojirou kept making distance by leaping backwards in a long arc, until he just escaped the range at which he was previously enclosed by Konsho’s crew. "L-Love your summons, by the way! They’re really cool…!” He’d comment in a sort of ruse, before daring to look to the side for the third Genin…

It looked like he had used a bow, but Kojirou didn’t see any arrows coming his way immediately. Only by looking upwards did Kojirou realize what had occurred, but with his blade in hand, he swiped upwards in horizontal angles to attempt at deflecting all three arrows with the Mirror Blade Technique back into the air. Despite starting the bout with an offensive nature, Kojirou sheathed his katana and kept holding the sheath with a hand close to the handle as he took a more cautious posture, having no clue as to what the Kumo-nin was able to do with a bow and arrows… definitely more than what met the eye.

Despite the name of this technique, it can be used with most weapons, although it’s difficulty mastering it means it requires a skilled user of such a weapon. Thus a swordsman would not automatically be able to perform this technique with a club. A relatively straightforward technique, it is nevertheless very effective against incoming shuriken. The user guards against an incoming shuriken with his or her weapon. However, rather than simply deflecting it, the user hits the shuriken from such an angle that it is sent back towards the enemy. Skilled users of this technique can even reflect kunai towards moving opponents by calculating their movement pattern (Chuunin+), or even reflect a shuriken while adding a curve to it (Special Jounin+). One use of this technique can send back up to three shuriken for a Genin, five for a Chuunin, eight for a Special Jounin and ten for Jounin and higher.

Honō Clan KG - Lava Release
The Honō Clan, as famed for their ferocious view on honor in battle as they are, are also feared for their unique but rare Kekkei Genkai - the ability to channel Lava Release. Albeit only being seen few times per generation, Kojirou has drawn the lucky straw and managed to practice handseals performed by one of the few elder members in his clan who also possesses it. Instead of committing a dud, he watched his hands give birth to material that can only be described as molten magma.



Kenjutsu
Ever since he was able to hold a sword – let it be made of wood or metal – his parents dedicated their spare time to train him in Kenjutsu. They even went to great lengths to gather famous schools of Kenjutsu techniques outside of Kusagakure for him to practice as well, which includes a scroll from a school called Kenjin Nōdo – especially putting focus on the branch of Taiyō-ken (which the parents often refer to simply as Yō-ken to draw parallels between it and the clan’s Kekkei Genkai). Their efforts and time invested in training Kojirou, which led to the previously mentioned skipping of classes, has born fruits and molded him into an experienced swordsman who wields a katana like it’s second nature to him. If there’s any solace in the lonely years as a Genin, then it would be those Kenjutsu skills that have been ingrained into him.

Kaen would continue her assault as the clone moved into fight, lunging into the clone's reckless jump towards her, flaming blade piercing through the clone's body. The ape would quickly begin to dispose of the body, sending a majority of it's now slowly falling apart body away from the funnel of fire. This plan would mostly work, with the exception of the bits and pieces that would land on her own body. The flames would burn on a few pieces of her fur, but once she noticed it, the gorilla was able to use her armor to catch most of the tar. Thankfully this made her in a way more threatening. Sure a few pieces of her were on fire, but now a large portion of her armor was also on fire, and her sword had it's own fuel to use rather than it's own chakra. She would not waste time on following her opponent, barrelling forward with a now flaming metal shoulder strike before going to slash with her nodachi.

Konsho would only notice the arrows flying towards him when his brother, now empowered by sage chakra, launched himself into the air, using his claws to crush two of the arrows mid flight. The stranger part though would be when the pieces broke, the tips of the arrows continued to home in on Konsho, even moving around Iwata just to hit him. Thankfully Konsho would manage to dodge out of the way for now, although one did leave a rather close cut on his left cheek. So the other guy could control objects he touched? That guy was definitely the bigger threat than the sword wielder.

Konsho would leave Kaen to handle her opponent, crouching low as his body got read to spring towards his opponent. "Follow my lead." Konsho would make a mad dash for the other shinobi, moving in with a flurry of attacks as he began try and lull him into a rhythm. The apes would do the same, a first adding punches and kicks to throw the rhythm off, before falling into their own with him. All for the sake of setting up the next move. Welling chakra within his body, Konsho would jump into the air, seeking to land a drop kick on his opponent, leaving his body open as he moved towards his opponent. If this worked, he knew it would throw off the other shinobi enough to shift the tides in his favor.

This stance is the foundation of Wing Chun and is ingrained into the practitioner's body. In order to truly master the martial art, they must root themselves into this stance and maintain it with accompanying footwork. Wing Chun beats tend to follow three main beats [1,2], [1,2,3], and [1,2,3,4]. These beats can be sequenced in any order to create a flurry of consecutive unending strikes. It is almost impossible to interrupt the flow of Wing Chun practitioner as the art is made to be both active and reactive simultaneously.

Wing Chun is not a strength driven Martial Art, though that is not to say it can't be used by one with strength. It is just not the central or focusing point of the art. Rather, it focuses on instantaneous and rapid acceleration, which ends up achieving the same results. Practitioners are taught to relax their body and keep their limbs at rest so that they can, at any moment, accelerate.

This allows them to deliver remarkably strong blows without wasting unnecessary stamina on maintaining high speeds or utilizing a lot of power. In many ways, Wing Chun is the difference between a sniper and a bazooka. While a Bazooka might have more firepower, a sniper is trained and focused on each shot.

To visualize this, Wing Chun is capable of punching straight through a boulder leaving only an arm/fist sized hole rather than causing the entire boulder to be destroyed. The focused aspect of the art allows them to be more precise in their blows. Higher leveled practitioners can coat their hands and fists in chakra to avoid damaging them and increase their durability.

Fiery Chakra Pools
[break]In order to use senjutsu must have an abnormally large chakra pool. So if one is to be an apprentice, they must have not just a large amount of chakra, but an abundance of it. Konshō's pool has naturally grown with him, surpassing even chuunin in size, and though he cannot fine tune his control, the amount of chakra he has available to him more than makes up for it by allowing him to utilize more techniques than other ninja his rank.

Old Reflexes
[break]Living among the few Apes that ate meat meant Konshō had to learn to hunt from an early age. By the time he was in the academy, Konshō was thoroughly defeating and unfortunately hurting his fellow students. Due to this, and a near obsession with ninjutsu, Konshō repressed his battle instincts until recently. With his new rival, Konshō's old reflexes are returning; allowing him to quickly react and counter against threats, as well as preform his techniques without much active thought put into them.

Kaen is proficient with wielding her over-sized nodachi and Taijutsu. She prefers to attack head on and as such very rarely utilized her Katon chakra affinity. However, she posses knowledge of the Katon: Ryuuka no Jutsu [Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique] and uses this in conjunction with her nodachi in order to coat the blade in flames.

[break]Iwata is a physical fighter at heart, much like his father's before him. Through genetics and training, Iwata's body is much stronger than most Gorillas, which are already plenty strong. Iwata has punched through rocks with both of his fists before, and has sent opponents flying with punches.

[break] Daruma is among the summons that specializes in the use of natural chakra. He can do it rather quickly, and is passively aware of it as most summons are. Daruma mostly uses it to naturally enhance his strength and the power of his ninjutsu, and has yet to use any techniques that expressly call upon nature chakra.

The Job Squad

It was expected of course for the arrows to not work well to some degree. Sure the swordsman boy may have deflected them from hitting him, but since Katsuo could just control them sending them right back at him was honestly no problem for the Kumo ninja. The issues came from the other arrows that got sent to the Taki shinobi. While they didn't deflect them and instead chose to destroy the arrows, leaving only the heads to do some minor scratches to the boy, it drew their attention to Katsuo. This meant now Katsuo was seen as a threat and became the target for the next set of attacks. [break][break]

"Shit," Katsuo would exclaim as he saw the blue-haired boy and monkies make their way to him. He needed to escape, but how? He didn't have much movement jutsu and wasn't naturally gifted with speed like some other people, much like Narihira was, so what was he to do? Then a thought appeared before him. What if he utilized his new arm in different ways? He hadn't tried this before so it was a gamble, but it was worth a shot. Touching his prosthetic with his regular hand he would activate his clan abilities, relinquishing control of his arrows and letting them fall to the ground unactivated, and in conjunction with his punishment jutsu, he would shoot himself up in the air at fast speeds to avoid the taijutsu aimed at him. The jutsu would have him launch over to where the swordsman was. While falling from the sky he would equip his claws and begin rotating in an attempt to do a spiral sort of attack from above. It was an alternate version of his reverse beheading technique and while it was very likely the attack would miss at the very least he stopped him from being attacked by the Taki shinobi. If it hit or not when Katsuo would get his opponents by asking, "Hey he's got summons which outnumbers us. Momentary truce while we take care of him?" Katsuo didn't know if the other shinobi would agree or not, but it was worth a shot to see if he was willing to work with him. After all, the two of them were both swordsmen to some degree.[break][break]

Was it just him… no, it wasn’t! The arrows that were bounced back up in the air appeared to slow down, then home straight back for him again! A few other slashes were launched at them, but he needed to make some more space – otherwise, he’d just be stuck playing volleyball with the air, and right now was the worst time to be distracted-

*SLAM!*

That giant sword-wielding ape didn’t appear phased by his Tar Clone’s embrace, but upon further looks, it appeared that Kaen had used bits of the spilling tar to her own advantage. Now, with armor lit aflame and fuel for her sword, she had sent Kojirou’s body somersaulting backwards, with the edge of his sword dug into the floor to brake his retreat. On his knees, he recovered with a quick breath – his armor vest underneath had saved his chest from the burning shoulder, but it wouldn’t be able to protect him from getting chopped up like calamari. It began to crack as well, having given him only that one chance to escape a severe burn.

Kaen swung with more weight than he did, so deflecting all of those slashes would be fatal if he didn’t spend even more chakra in such quick succession… even now, he put his trust into the Step Method that he’d used before, stepping to the side and making more space in order to avoid getting cut into chunks. Preferably, he needed an opening to sheathe his katana, but as long as he had Kaen’s attention-

Wait, what?!

At first, Kojirou felt like being on the ropes for being double-teamed – his previous evasion had even left a quick, burning-hot cut through his armor vest, having slit some skin off of his shoulder-blade, so he was also grimacing in pain – but Katsuo had actually planned to make a truce with the Kusa-nin instead… and that arm… and the arrows… it gave Kojirou an idea. "Here!” Without warning, Kojirou didn’t dare waste enough time to sheathe his katana all the way into its holder – nah, instead, he flung the katana towards Katsuo, hoping that the Kumo-nin would be able to catch it in time.

Now, with free hands and his haori falling off in flakes from the burning shoulder prior, Kojirou threw two Sealing Tags up towards Kaen. All two of them…

Kojirou got slammed back by the shoulder bash from Kaen, but his Armor Vest allowed him to recover quickly.

Kojirou used Subakage-ryū: Hohō again to evade Kaen's even more fire-y assault - again - and dash to the side, but he's gotten cut through his armor vest and has a charred wound on his right shoulder-blade.

Kojirou wasted no time in making things clear - immediately threw his katana towards Katsuo in an attempt to pass it over.

It allows the user to move at speeds that exceed that which a shinobi would normally achieve, thereby improving the likelihood they will be able to run down a target or escape a blast radius.

It is not without its costs, though. The Step Method may be an idealized method of movement, but it is not the way a human will naturally try to move. It requires mental focus and extra physical exertion, though this basic form is less taxing than others.

Honō Clan KG - Lava Release
The Honō Clan, as famed for their ferocious view on honor in battle as they are, are also feared for their unique but rare Kekkei Genkai - the ability to channel Lava Release. Albeit only being seen few times per generation, Kojirou has drawn the lucky straw and managed to practice handseals performed by one of the few elder members in his clan who also possesses it. Instead of committing a dud, he watched his hands give birth to material that can only be described as molten magma.



Kenjutsu
Ever since he was able to hold a sword – let it be made of wood or metal – his parents dedicated their spare time to train him in Kenjutsu. They even went to great lengths to gather famous schools of Kenjutsu techniques outside of Kusagakure for him to practice as well, which includes a scroll from a school called Kenjin Nōdo – especially putting focus on the branch of Taiyō-ken (which the parents often refer to simply as Yō-ken to draw parallels between it and the clan’s Kekkei Genkai). Their efforts and time invested in training Kojirou, which led to the previously mentioned skipping of classes, has born fruits and molded him into an experienced swordsman who wields a katana like it’s second nature to him. If there’s any solace in the lonely years as a Genin, then it would be those Kenjutsu skills that have been ingrained into him.

Kaen would react simply, slashing at the two tags with her flaming sword. Assuming there was no trap, these tags would burn the same as any other- leaving no effect. However, there was now a new issue to consider; keep fighting her tired opponent, or switch priority to whomever held the blade. Her contemplation would be answered as Iwata came bursting into the fight, arm ablaze with fire as he came at Koji's side. Iwata was acting to the commonly used hunting tactic his father and uncle utilized; Fox hole. Although it was a bit strange to do it without the tunnel, it wasn't hard to figure out how to apply it here. Split into two groups and attack both groups, once one was out, all eyes were on the remaining prey. It seemed Kaen had gotten the idea too, as she began using her flaming armor and sword not as attacks, but to cut off any attempts at escape Koji would make as Iwata did his best to hammer the child with flaming blows. Iwata's attacks meanwhile would come in the form of blows to the solar plexus, then the collar bone.

Meanwhile, Daruma had approached the now armed steel controller, still feeling the effects of his sage chakra enhancing his abilities. Daruma had approached rather quickly, utilizing the chakra to bring his speed up a notch as he closed the distance. Meanwhile behind him, Konsho was bringing down his earlier flare chakra. The genin hadn't taken his bait, which though disappointing, also meant he hadn't had to spend any of his charka just yet. So he'd bring it down about half way, only leaving what he needed for body flicker. Once Daruma got close enough to swipe at the boy, Konsho would be consumed in smoke before appearing to the side of his opponent, already on the attack. Attempting to grab the boy by the back of the shoulders, Konsho would pull the boy forwards whilst also bringing his knee into the boy's face.

Konsho knew from the midair attack earlier that this metal manipulator was more than capable of attacking at something that was behind him, so it seemed the best option was the side. If the grab was successful, even if the knee wasn't, Konsho would then move towards the arm the boy hadn't touched earlier. Knowing the arm was mechanical, Konsho doubted there were pressure points present. But it did tell him one thing; the boy needed to touch the metal with his free arm to activate his ability. Grabbing near the center of his wrist, Konsho's index finger and thumb would catch a pressure point in a vice grip, before twisting the boy's arm behind his back. With this, he would then place his free arm around the boy's collar bone to push the shoulder back even farther. This was about to get a lot more painful.

While this was going on, Daruma would move for an actual blow to the boy's legs, using his hands to rend the flesh of the boy's leg. As he did, he would allow more of his enhanced chakra to fill his body as he lunged at the boy. The attack would move much faster than he normally would be capable of, and his strength was newly enhanced. Still he was burning through his energy rather quickly. Hopefully this would be enough.

This is a simple yet powerful technique. Simply by using the index finger and thumb, the user will grab a pressure point located in either of the target's hand and apply pressure. When done right, all they need to do is manipulate the hand by turning, pulling, twisting or pushing in order to create a chain reaction, causing many muscles in the arm and shoulders to contort. This pain, which is inner rather than outer, will in most cases be extremely agonizing to the target, allowing the user to almost completely control their movements in a rough manner. This obviously fails against somebody who is flexible.

Fiery Chakra Pools
In order to use senjutsu must have an abnormally large chakra pool. So if one is to be an apprentice, they must have not just a large amount of chakra, but an abundance of it. Konshō's pool has naturally grown with him, surpassing even chuunin in size, and though he cannot fine tune his control, the amount of chakra he has available to him more than makes up for it by allowing him to utilize more techniques than other ninja his rank.

Iwata comes from a long line of fighting gorillas, and in that line, each member has had a particular fondness of Fire based ninjutsu. Daruma is among the summons that specializes in the use of natural chakra. He can do it rather quickly, and is passively aware of it as most summons are. The Job Squad

Well even if it wasn't a perfect plan he had formed an ally in this fight. Sure the swordsman could betray him easily, but momentary truces weren't the worst idea when against foes that were arguably stronger than oneself. Katsuo would believe he was probably the least likely to win this match, but if he could scrape by a victory by working with one of his opponents that's all that mattered to him. The pact to this truce was with the sharing of the blade which was nice, but honestly a little troublesome to Katsuo. While he was in training to wield a sword it wasn't his normal weapon of choice at least at this moment. Still, it was a weapon so he would naturally touch the blade with his regular arm to link with it should he need to control it independently like some of his other weapons.[break][break]

Despite the fact it was a sword though it shared some striking similarities to his claws in make which meant, outside of him wielding it, it shouldn't be too different than what he was used to. Though he wouldn't have too much time to think about this as he was still in the midst of battle. The Taki shinobi were still on the attack trying to whittle them down as quickly as possible which made sense to Katsuo since they only needed to knock out one of them to make it on in the exam. It was just a bit disappointing, and flattering, Katsuo seemed to be the one who was the biggest target to him. Still, he wasn't about to let the monkies and shinobi get the full best of him so Katsuo knew he needed to defend.[break][break]

Defensive measures weren't his strongest suit so his only option was to turn an attack into a defensive measure. Using his newly acquired sword he would use his dance of the petals bukijutsu to defend against the attacks. A myriad of slashes to block incoming attacks while also trying to deal with his own in succession. While he didn't expect the slashes to do much damage to Konsho or the monkey nearby he at least hoped it would be enough to stop them from getting too close to him. Hopefully, his partner in crime, Koji, could have some good idea on how to deal with the summoner for both of them.[break][break]

Damn it… Kaen called his bluff immediately. Those tags were of no threat to anyone near them, which prompted the swordsman whether or not he should’ve taken a look at Kuwana’s nin-shop in the month he’d isolated himself in training.

She stood still for a brief moment, and Kojirou saw a bursting flare. However, he didn’t turn his body to meet the new danger up front – nay, he’d expected Kaen to rush in as well, which she did, but a second opponent wouldn’t slow down his actual plan. Y’know, the reason behind him throwing his sword over to Katsuo.

One handseal was weaved this time, and Iwata would risk dipping his flaming fists into a splash of erupting lava coming up from a fissure in the floor where Kojirou stood a moment ago. With a 1 meter radius, Kaen too would be at risk of getting showered in magma. Unlike the burning tar, this magma was solid and devouring in nature, and while her armor could take the heat, their approach towards Kojirou was turned against them with this variation of the Body Flicker Technique.

About 4 meters behind the two Genin, another eruption occurred. The rising magma held a standing body inside, that of a swordsman weaving 3 more handseals. This last action would definitely burn through the last of his chakra reserves, but… if his previous Eruption Shadow Dance did its trick against Kaen, then he’d be satisfied.

Now, all he needed was his sword. Kojirou’s body began cracking its skin, revealing veins of glowing magma as if he was made of magma himself. His lungs took in more air, circulating more oxygen, sweating more and heating himself up more. This was it.

"SWORD!”

His voice was loud, demanding and desperate. He hoped that Katsuo knew to send the spinning katana his way, so that Kojirou could advance towards Konsho. Regardless of whether his Eruption Shadow Dance actually sprinkled lava onto Kaen and Iwata, he had an opening right here… he just needed his sword in his hand! This was where their little pact came in handy!

Kojirou used Lava Release: Erupting Shadow Dance to escape both Kaen and Iwata at once, sending an eruption of lava up from where he stood. Everything within 1 meter is at risk of getting sprayed by hot lava.

This technique operates as an advanced form of the body flicker technique. After performing the needed hand seal a small fissure quickly splits the ground under the user. A mass of lava emerges from the ground overtaking the user. Once the small scale eruption subsides another one occurs within ten meters away splashing everything within 1 meter with hot lava. This technique is normally used to flank an opponent or for evasive measures as the user emerges from the second fissure. Using this technique/body flicker more than 4 times in a thread will cause serious muscle tears in the legs from overexertion.

With the channeling of chakra through out the user's body their affinity for lava release circulates through the user. The user's skin begins to harden and fragment in scattered places lightly resembling molten rock with small red surface veins of lava separating the fragments. With this activated the excellerated body heat causes the user's heart to pump faster, circulating blood faster. The result is that the user's natural quickness and agility is greatly enhanced and improved, this helps the body move at a faster pace. Due to unaccustomed body conditions this technique taxes the user's stamina greatly, and draws deeply on their chakra pool. Overexertion and overuse can cause the technique to fail and the user to pass out from exhaustion.

Kaen just barely managed to put her blade in front of Iwata, stopping the powerful ape from dipping his hands in a spout of lava. Pulling the other ape beneath her, Kaen would use her own body to shield the splashes of lava from hitting her target, creating a few holes on the back of her armor, as well as removing the shoulder piece that had previously been set ablaze. Evidentially this was going to become a close quarters brawl. But there was one big difference between the other two and the group of apes near them; Iwata, Konsho, Daruma, and Kaen hunted together as children. Both apes would let out a war cry as they charged in, a clear signal to both of their allies as Iwata beat against his own chest.

Against any other, the flurry of cuts might have been enough to stop them from getting too close. Unfortunately for Katsuo, Konsho had spent an extended amount of time sparing with Taki, whom would bind anyone the second they attempted to reach towards her. Konsho had picked up on those tricks a long time ago. He'd duck under the first slash, before grabbing for Katsuo's wrist at the mid way of the arc, pulling on the wrist as his arm moved towards the boy's shoulder. If he grabbed both, he would begin to turn towards the newly forming spout of lava, and throw the other boy over his own shoulder- into the spout of lava. With that, the roar of his companions would be heard as Konsho understood exactly what was happening.

Konsho would glance towards Koji, the boy's body now suddenly altered into a molten form. Whatever that was, touching it would certainly lead to severe burns. However, full body techniques of any kind where almost always taxing on one's chakra. Even ones that were used for a split second, like body flicker, used a lot of chakra for how shortly it happened. This technique couldn't be used for long. Until then, Kaen would have to stall. He would move towards Kaen, a clear break of the plan that he hoped she would pick up on as he charged for the metal armed boy. Konsho, Iwata, and Daruma would charge towards the boy. Iwata and Daruma would slam at the ground if the boy had been successfully thrown, seeking to batter him while he is down. If not, Daruma would jump onto the boy's back, clawing at anything he could get his hands on as he spent more of his sage energy, whilst Daruma would seek to batter him with Double Hammer from the front. Meanwhile, Konsho would rush toward the genin to deliver a spinning kick at his head, whilst chakra welled up in him for a prepared technique.

Kaen meanwhile, being the only one equipped to handle Kojirou, would charge toward the boy with sword still flaming as she began switched from a more combative fighting style, to using her sword as way to stop the boy from escaping. Even if the boy fought through and risked getting cut by the sword, Kaen had no issue tackling herself onto the boy and hurting herself to stall long enough for the other three to deal with the metal puppeteer. This was the day she proved herself.

With a trained opponent punches, they tend to make an inward step in as they twist their hips for the punch. Depending on which arm the punch was thrown with, the practitioner will step/dash in with the opposite leg while pushing off with the other (mirrored right punch would push off with the right and step in with the left). This dash should twist into a sideway charge, landing on the step in foot. As the practitioner lands on that foot, they should use it to root themselves, making sure to twist their body into the opponent such that the shoulder they charged in with should slip under and up into the opponent's armpit to throw them off balance. As the body twists, the practitioner's hands should grab the opponent's arm while wrapping one arm around the armpit, simultaneously pulling and pushing them forward and into a throw. To gain the proper core strength and balance to complete the throw, the leg not used to step in should be used to ground the core and propel the opponent over one's shoulder.

Fiery Chakra Pools
In order to use senjutsu must have an abnormally large chakra pool. So if one is to be an apprentice, they must have not just a large amount of chakra, but an abundance of it. Konshō's pool has naturally grown with him, surpassing even chuunin in size, and though he cannot fine tune his control, the amount of chakra he has available to him more than makes up for it by allowing him to utilize more techniques than other ninja his rank.

Old Reflexes
Living among the few Apes that ate meat meant Konshō had to learn to hunt from an early age. By the time he was in the academy, Konshō was thoroughly defeating and unfortunately hurting his fellow students. Due to this, and a near obsession with ninjutsu, Konshō repressed his battle instincts until recently. With his new rival, Konshō's old reflexes are returning; allowing him to quickly react and counter against threats, as well as preform his techniques without much active thought put into them.

Daruma is among the summons that specializes in the use of natural chakra. He can do it rather quickly, and is passively aware of it as most summons are. Daruma mostly uses it to naturally enhance his strength and the power of his ninjutsu, and has yet to use any techniques that expressly call upon nature chakra.

The Job Squad

His flurry of attacks from his sword seemed to not work as his opponent was able to dodge and then counter. Grabbing him by the wrist and shoulder and chucking him towards something frightening. A plume of lava in the arena! "Oh f***!" Katsuo would say aloud as he used his magnetism to shoot himself back up in the air again to redirect himself away from the lava plume. Now high above the rest of the fight, he would look down holding the floating sword wondering what was he to do now. Apes were coming his way and there was so much going down below. What was he to do? The only idea he could come up with was just to keep moving and do as much as he could to his opponents from up here.[break][break]

Ignoring the other swordsman's call for his sword Katsuo would begin moving around above them all tossing anything he had on him to his opponents. Katsuo didn't care that he was breaking their treaty already and it probably didn't make him look good to the audience, but hey staying alive was probably the better option anyways. The first thing he would drop is his five stink bombs doing his best to target each of the apes, Konsho, and Koji. He would then chuck his fire bombs down below also hoping to cause a bit more explosive damage or at the very least power up their respective fire-based attacks toward each other and away from him. He would lastly drop his five senbon bakudon's each aimed for the five targets so they would do some damage to their targets. Anything to wear them down so he could stay alive.[break][break]

[Honō Kojirou]

That warcry was no good news. These apes and Konsho were too used to fighting together, overshadowing Kojirou’s and Katsuo’s attempt at teamwork with their own synced movements. Kaen had bit through the spout of lava and continued to approach the swordsman, really grinding Kojirou’s gears as to how stubborn she was. He hadn’t been able to land a single hit on Konsho… their teamwork was too tight for him to find any openings.

And now, Kaen once again faced him with her burning sword, not granting him any openings to approach Konsho. He had to take her down in order to advance, but without his sword, all he could do right now was evade her nodachi’s slashes. He was losing chakra by the second, and without his katana, he couldn’t use Hien! Therefore, he couldn’t afford to waste any more chakra right now; not before he retrieved his katana again-

Glancing at Katsuo for a moment made Kojirou realize that their treaty might’ve been put on hold. Two orbs were thrown towards Kaen and Kojirou, only just noticed with the adrenaline and oxygen rush that the swordsman was experiencing through the Hot-Blooded Man Technique…

… He likely wouldn’t have enough chakra to use Hien afterwards, but it was worth a shot. Against his own judgement, he weaved three handseals in front of Kaen and attempted to turn her fixation on him against herself – from his maw, a large glob of rubber-like mud protruded and quickly spread out for the purpose of trapping Kaen inside a Rubber Ball along with one of the two bombs that fell down towards them.

The other bomb, however, had caught Kojirou in a coughing fit, too distracted by the foul smell to move immediately. Before he was able to move out of the way, his left side suddenly felt the stings of several senbon digging into him, along with an intense growth in heat that could only be evaded by approaching the Rubber Ball and use it as a wall. Still, in his form, he was likely to lose the fight... he'd used the most chakra and suffered the most damage at this point. He could only hold onto his left arm in pain, noticing a handful senbon digging into his side and even his damn lungs.

Before he could process it, his skin turned back to normal... with blood trickling out of his senbon-induced wounds. His face hit the floor all of a sudden, breathing heavily. He was clearly unable to continue the fight.

Kojirou maintains Lava Release: Hot-Blooded Man to evade Kaen's slashing.

Upon spotting the stink bombs, Kojirou used Lava Release: Rubber Ball to trap Kaen inside a Rubber Ball along with one of the bombs.

The second bomb caught Kojirou and is making him cough in disgust and exhaustion. The other bombs did their trick on him too, and his left side is covered in senbon - Kojirou is knocked out.

Honō Clan KG - Lava Release
The Honō Clan, as famed for their ferocious view on honor in battle as they are, are also feared for their unique but rare Kekkei Genkai - the ability to channel Lava Release. Albeit only being seen few times per generation, Kojirou has drawn the lucky straw and managed to practice handseals performed by one of the few elder members in his clan who also possesses it. Instead of committing a dud, he watched his hands give birth to material that can only be described as molten magma.



Kenjutsu
Ever since he was able to hold a sword – let it be made of wood or metal – his parents dedicated their spare time to train him in Kenjutsu. They even went to great lengths to gather famous schools of Kenjutsu techniques outside of Kusagakure for him to practice as well, which includes a scroll from a school called Kenjin Nōdo – especially putting focus on the branch of Taiyō-ken (which the parents often refer to simply as Yō-ken to draw parallels between it and the clan’s Kekkei Genkai). Their efforts and time invested in training Kojirou, which led to the previously mentioned skipping of classes, has born fruits and molded him into an experienced swordsman who wields a katana like it’s second nature to him. If there’s any solace in the lonely years as a Genin, then it would be those Kenjutsu skills that have been ingrained into him.

Konsho vs Katsuo vs Kojirou

"HOLD!"

Chimed in a proctor, after Kojirou had fallen to the floor a proctor would interfere in the match in order to keep the other two boys from interfering. Katsuo watching on from the sky and Konsho still in the midst of his possible reaction to Katsuo's antics. The proctor would use a large gust of wind to clear the battlefield for the moment as he tended to the boy.

He would then call for a medical team to come and assist the boy before looking to the crowd. "Kojirou is unable to continue, due to the rules this bout and conlcuded, Konsho and Katsuo advance to the next phase of the third round!" the crowd would roar their approval as Kojirou was taken away and with that the first match would come to an end, with Katsuo and Konsho advancing.
