Another mission with Kazu how exciting! Kohaku had overall enjoyed the mission she had with her teammate and was happy to be working with him again especially since it would probably be a bit before she fully worked with him again. With her and Hizou signing up for the upcoming chunin exams there was a strong possibility the whole team might not see each other for a while. It just depended on how the exams played out. Hizou wasn't able to attend with them on this mission, which was disappointing, but at the very least Kohaku could work with part of the team and Kazu was very capable so he would certainly add a lot of usefulness to this mission.

Speaking of missions this one was a rescue mission instead of a delivery one like last time. An avalanche had occurred burying people and while their two-man squad wasn't the only one being sent out to help out it was going to be a dangerous mission to some degree. The chance of another avalanche occurring was high so they would need to be careful hopefully the two of them wouldn't accidentally cause a second avalanche to happen. Not that she thought they would anyways.

They would meet up outside of the village. The entrance looked out on the tundra that was the land of snow and Kohaku would be wearing a bit of a warmer ensemble this time. Wearing a black trench coat with a white fur lining accented with a pink scarf. Black thermal pants and white fur boots to keep her warm and black gloves should she need to just use her hands to dig in the snow. She was prepared for the harsh snow especially if the worst-case scenario happened and they ended up trapped in the snow themselves.

[Yuki Kazu]

Kazu woke up very differently than normal, rolling out of bed and falling onto the floor. Groaning, he checked the time before realizing that he had another mission today. With Kohaku, no less. This would likely be the last he saw of Kohaku for a while, since Hizou and her both were going to the next Chuunin exams. "I suppose I should get ready to go." He'd say to no one in particular as he began to gather his shinobi gear, taking note of what would be the most useful on this mission. 

The mission was quite simple, rescue some civilians that had been caught in an avalanche. They weren't the only team going, Hizou was likely on another one of the teams. While Kazu wasn't scared of another avalanche, it would be problematic for everyone else. Being a Yuki clan member, he was fairly resistant to the cold, so he would only have to deal with the force of another avalanche. 

The two of them met up outside the village, with Kazu in his usual clothing despite the increased cold. Kohaku looked like a cocoon, but he couldn't blame her. "You ready to go?" He'd ask as he prepared to go with a running start.

It wouldn't be long before Kazu would join her at the village gates dressed like he always normally was. Cold never bothered him so being in his everyday getup was expected, but still surprised her at times. She figured it was because of his clan's bloodline, but the fact the cold didn't bother him anyways just accounted for her all the same. It made her wish she had some unnatural ability that could make her stand out above the crowd of shinobi who appeared in and out of the academy and other nations.

Kazu would ask Kohaku if she was ready to go to which she would give a big smile and say, "All set!" Giving him a thumbs up she would begin making her way towards their assigned mission location. The avalanche wasn't the biggest thing, but the reports of two people gone missing were worrying. The avalanche had happened a little over a day ago and the survival rate of someone surviving that was very low especially if they were a regular citizen. A shinobi on the other hand might survive longer so Kohaku was honestly hoping it was just a shinobi who got unlucky.

Though the fact the people needed for rescue had hailed from Hyōketsu didn't make her feel confident in the prospects of them being shinobi. Then again if Kohaku lived with her parents she would currently be living in Shouninnomura instead of Yukigakure so it wasn't like it was unlikely. Still, she wanted to get there as fast as possible just in case they needed to search for these victims. Looking back at Kazu to make sure he was following she would ask, "What do you think of the mission details?" He was more experienced than her when it came to missions so she was hoping he could give some insight on what she might not know could happen in this mission.

In response to Kazu's question to her, Kohaku answered that she was all set and gave him a thumbs up. It was nice to not have to wait on a mission teammate to gather their things once he arrived. Kazu was, at least for this mission, the most senior. They likely wanted to see how he was with leading others on this mission. Not to mention his resistance to the cold helped for this mission specifically. He began heading to their assigned mission location, where the avalanche had hit, along with Kohaku. He let her take the lead on the route, knowing that he could easily get lost since he hadn't had much time to look at the map. 

Two people had gone missing due to the avalanche, which occurred a little more than a day ago. Depending on who it was, their chances of survival were higher. He hoped that it was a decent shinobi or someone that at least knew how to use Chakra. Though based on the location of the avalanche, that wasn't a very likely scenario. 

Kazu was pulled out of his thoughts as his teammate asked what he thought of the mission details. "I think there's a few things that are a bit vague. If we know two people are missing, we should know who they are I think. Which would make it easier to strategize. We weren't given information on where the avalanche started either, just the impact area. If we knew where it started, we'd be able to determine safer areas to help evacuate when necessary. If we knew who the missing individuals were, we could determine what all we need to bring. If it's a case of it being a shinobi, we could bring less since they would know how to use chakra. That would help speed up the process of getting there as well." He finished. He knew these weren't things that Lady Yuki would overlook, so why weren't they more informed? The only scenario he could think of, was that they were people of importance. Whether that be to the land of snow in general, or to the two that were going on the mission.

"Vague huh?" Kohaku would parrot back to her teammate as he spoke. It was weird how little information they were given, but Kohaku figured that was simply because she didn't have much experience with missions so maybe all missions were like that, but by the sounds of it this wasn't normal. She trusted Kazu's instincts so if something was off about this mission there had to be something about it that would reveal itself either by completing it or while they are on it. "Well hopefully it won't be the most difficult of tasks for us," Kyoko would say with a chuckle trying to hide a little bit of the nerves that were in her stomach. She wanted to prove herself to both Kazu and Lady Yuki especially since the chunin exams would be coming soon. It would be bad if she fumbled a mission right before the event. Kohaku would just be embarrassed.

It wouldn't take them that much time to reach the area of the avalanche since it was a lot closer in distance than their mission to the keep, but due to the forested nature of the area, it would be a bit harder to navigate than an open field. Kohaku could see a few shinobi off in the distance looking in different areas since they weren't the only team assigned to this mission due to the fact people's lives were on the line, but they would be working in just their cell. Looking towards Kazu she would ask, "Where do you think we should start?" Kohaku would eye the trees around them wondering if maybe checking them was the best idea after all they could have attached themselves behind trees to stop the majority of the avalanche's snow from burying them and hurting them if they were lucky.

By the time Kohaku and Kazu had arrived to the scene, there were already plenty of other teams searching the area. Combing through such a large radius under the threat of a possible second avalanche makes for slow progress, weaved through the trees and brush covered in snow. The hangfire is bright and glittering in the afternoon sun, making its deadliness all the more unnerving. Something so soft and beautiful could be lethal - the two would have to be careful.

The higher up the side of the icy mountain, the less people were searching. It would seem that everyone had the same thought - that the missing individuals might be closer to the forest floor. If they would make their way further east, along the side of the mountain, they would find less and less of those searching, and more and more trees. The forest grows thicker, the sun struggling to peak in. An eeriness flutters through.
