[attr="class","skullbody"]Had Ichi ever really had a reason to interact with Kaida before? It was certainly something that was possible, but he didn't remember much about the girl and only knew what he did due to her file. A medical aspirant, though one who's dreams had been squandered not from sheer lack of talent, but from a decent time as the jinchuuriki for the Rokubi in the village. There was a time when Ichi remembered he was expected to become some kind of detainer for such beasts in their hulking state, but to Ichi he would have always rather prevented the release. It was dangerous to allow such things to free themselves, and the losses that would be suffered in the country were far too high for Ichi to bear that kind of guilt. It was another reason he was so focused on the suppression side of Ninjutsu instead of aggression. People deserved to live after all, but he would meet the death of his kin with a rage Ichi only knew he would be unable to contain when that day came. He prayed it didn't.

Here in a boat though, the boy smiled at his red-headed companion. A strong cinnamon scent wafting from his pipe as he took a long drag from his current dose of what he chose to smoke. The lumbering nineteen year old had chosen to take on the vacancy of this mission because it needed to be done, and the boat was more than set to head forward into Nokobiri. The man-made lake had been an insane project that Ichi was genuinely astounded by when he had gotten to visit it the first time. Having believed an entirely man made fort and lake were something that people dreamed of doing, but seeing it was an incredible experience even the second time. Stocking smoke from forges rose into the air as the 'Ember Islands' took its name.

Turning as they approached towards a dock Ichi would speak, "Kaida-Chan. I think its safe to say you understand the plan so far? We are here to help re-construct the armory and the forges on the island. It's not gonna be anything except heavy labor, this is absolutely one of our more important outposts to fortify so I am counting on you to really get this whole project moving here with me. This may end up being one of our last bastions one day, so its a good idea we do our due diligence."

『Harvest Moon's Child』
Ichi was born to the Nakahara clan on the night of a Harvest Moon. Born with quite the green thumb he was assumed to be an inheritor of the clan's natural talents with plants. The roots ran deeper, however, as Ichi was born with a Kekkai Genkai, being a rare natural occurance of Wood Release outside of the Senju. In learning of this he has trained his kekkai to the best of his abilities. He is no master, seeing as he has no reference of Mokuton, but he has found a way to bring out techniques along side his own talents in a cohesive manner.

Ichi was born with Mokuton, but he was not graced with the same level of chakra as the Senju would be in his situation. Being roughly average for an individual, Ichi instead focused on the skills his birth clan preferred. Practicing his medical skills, he has gained a higher quality of Chakra Control. Ichi is much less likely to leak chakra than the average shinobi because of this.

Having practiced his skills with extending his senses outwards with the use of mokuton chakra, Ichi is particularly adept at sensing life in an area. Capable of finding life through the very nature around people. Within [20 meters] Ichi is capable of passively sensing out plant and animal life in a general sense. Able to differentiate it between plant and animal, but no further. Unlike chakra sensory Ichi can not more or less readily sense others based on their chakra, but instead purely senses the 'vitality' in things, though even those with seemingly boundless vitality will read the same as the elderly or a newborn to him. Also unlike usually sensory to actively search out individuals Ichi requires Mokuton, or the use of his pipe (though using it makes his position much easier to locate), as a catalyst to extend his senses, only going out as far as the technique's range, or twice his passive range in case of the pipe. It is also notable that the deceased, and those that feign death in some fashion, as through a poison or a jutsu, are completely invisible to Ichi. Notably the furthest he can extend his senses is [100 meters].[break][break]

Ichi is incredibly smart for someone his age, but he lacks the qualifications to be a scholar. This is because his intelligence is not found in understanding of principles and anything so magnificiently deep. It instead lies in his observational talents and ability to react to everything that is going on around him with an absolute calm. Being able to plan and act with just minute details to go off of, Ichi is best described as a schemer and a diplomat rather than a genius. This makes him perfect for roles that are heavy in Tactical and Diplomatic Decision Making, as he grasps larger images and can put together clues better than others. Effectively allowing him to take in the wider picture of everything going on and piece together practical responses in mere moments with little to no hesitation or error.

[Futago Kumori]

Kumori is actually the one that shows up to the mission, as Kaida had actually been called away for other duties, and although her good friend Saya was still somewhat despondent, Kojirou had taken it upon himself to take care of the gate guard. The swordswoman sniffs momentarily at the scent of cinnamon, a smell she's not entirely certain if she likes or dislikes just yet. It has an odd smell of spice to it that she can't quite place the familiarity to. Kumori herself doesn't engage in smoking, but she also does nothing to halt Ichi's own use of his pipe; after all, with the breeze wafting over the man-made lake, she only catches faint whiffs of the smoke anyway.

Kumori watches the dock as they approach it, though she still listens intently to Ichi and the parameters of the mission, as well as the plan for this mission. It sounded like it mostly involved rebuilding, not exactly a fun mission by any means, but a mission meant a job that needed to be done, and the Futago wasn't one to pass up on doing any kind of job, even one such as menial labor. Ichi helps to make the mission at least sound important, which she supposes it is, although she doesn't seem too terribly impressed with the fortifications or the man-made lake personally. Kumori still wore the white cheongsam with its pale pink floral trim, and she, as always, still wore her armor over her arms and hips, though she certainly didn't need any of it for this mission and her cheongsam was probably going to get dirty, delicate as the silk was. She even still kept the wooden training blade as well as her rather more simple greatsword on her back; one was for training, and one was for actual emergency use.

She didn't expect much trouble, but she always wanted to be ready. It was something she'd learned as a gate guard with both Saya and Koji. Although banditry was exceedingly rare in Nohara no Kuni itself, that didn't mean there weren't the occasional influx of bandits from some of the neighboring countries, and Kumori kept her head on a swivel. The wooden training blade had clearly seen some better days, as it was gradually coming apart with its wood fibers having been smashed against its heavy iron core over many practice sessions, and it was nearly time to retire the training blade, since she could already feel her natural strength greatly improving. Judging by the stones she could see being moved from the dock up to the outpost, she's going to need it for this mission in particular, anyway.

"Yes, I see. I apologize again for Kaida's absence once more, but I'm happy to work on this mission with you in her stead, Lord Ichi."

She wonders for a moment if she might have bitten off more than she can chew as the boat slides in alongside the dock, but she tosses the sling over the mooring post just as she's meant to before leaping from the boat and onto the wooden dock, then turning to make sure Ichi came off the boat just as safely.

Ichi very rarely actually had an issue with substitution in missions such as these as long as the work got done, and as far as he was concerned Kumori was more then a fine replacement. In fact, this sort of work was likely better done by a Futago then it was one of his villages few medical specialists. Buttressing was a painfully boring job for most people, but as any good form of construction it was the type of training field that tested your form and technique nearly as much as it did the physical traits one trained when they did such physical tasks.

"Its more then fine my friend, we will be getting the work here done regardless, yes?" Ichi would reply back with a smile, his almost too tranquil attitude rubbing into his words as if he was trying to relax any particular nerves the girl may have had. Watching Kumori to observe her movements for a moment to get a better read on her - impatient perhaps? Or, hopefully, eagerness was what he was catching by her being so quick to get on the dock. Standing from the book to his own massive height the young giant would take one massive step up and onto the dock where the Kusa lord stood nearly a full head and a half over his gate guard.

"There sould already be some Hono Ashigaru here taking care of the reinforcement of the forges themselves, I would like you to oversee and assist them. I am going to head to the far side of the island and check on the progress of the armory before returning to help as well. Lets get to it Kumori-Chan," Ichi would continue from his mostly rhetorical question moving from the dock in a measured pace that was, for all intents and purposes, way faster then it should have been due to his height.

Kumori might be slightly annoyed at the fact that this mission would be a rather simple and peaceful one, but if she was unhappy at being called by the wrong name, she wasn't showing it. Indeed, she didn't really mind it at all. The Kusagakure Lord would obviously have a lot on his mind, and she didn't really feel as though it was a slight against her. After Ichi's question, she merely nods her head once, firmly, at the suggestion that the job would be done regardless. Once they're both off the small boat and on the dock, their difference in height might have been somewhat striking for others, but Kumori still gazed up at the much taller man as he describes his expectations for her during the mission. Once he orders her to get to it, she nods once and gives a quick gesture.

"I'm on it, Lord Ichi."

If someone had teased her for being an unquestioning foot soldier, she might have punched that person in the mouth, but they also wouldn't be entirely incorrect. She immediately gets to work to observe the infantry working at their reinforcement of the forges, and after ensuring she can see where they might have some delays in their work or whenever she sees one starting to slack, she steps in herself, often carrying one of the stones from the dock to the forges herself. The shame the workers that had their spot in the work replaced by a woman were often ashamed enough to work harder than previously, and the other foot soldiers would similarly become motivated by not wanting to be shamed in the same way. Kumori herself would stand back again afterwards, keeping a close eye on their work while Ichi himself was away to supervise the armory's construction.

[attr="class","skullbody"]The jobs were simple enough, especially when the main forges of all of Nohara's steel was here in the heartland of the Hono. The reason Ichi had left to check on the Armory had to do with the changes to accomodation that the island had been working on for the foreign blacksmiths. It being one of the most secure places on the island Ichi had no reason not to trust it to be the safest place to house the blacksmiths that would eventually come from Iron Country. That wasn't information that was public for the other members of his village just yet though. He would reveal this when the time came for it to be made public.

The construction effort there was easy to view thanks to it being open in plan, basic homes for each of the smiths that were going to be travelling this way. It had been a request Ichi had made of the builders here without any explanation, and most didn't really question him - a perk of being in leadership he supposed. Turning back to head for the forges Ichi would finish his pipe and put it into his yukata before removing his more "formal" wear for just the farming clothes that were beneath. His long limbs being toned, though thin as they were long a clear sign he still kept himself in a fit state. A few handseals formed and three more of him appeared. A few more and three more beyond that appeared. The team of shadow clones all sharing the same relaxed and cheerful demeanor as they moved in tandom to start grabbing onto the lumber that needed to be brought to the mill, the need for lumber boards high across the entirety of the site. Ichi himself would move to the active forges on the far side of the island and assist in the delivery of nails to the various locales of construction.

A good half hour into the tedious work one of the clones would walk up to the girl, "Ah, Kumori-Chan! Good work so far! Say, if I guage by those weights your wearing your trying to build muscle correct? I can't say I expect you to be having much fun either - payment of no, so how about we make this interesting no? You're no stranger to the competitions at our festivals here in Nohara, so I'll tell you what. If you also wear these," The clone of Ichi would pull out what looked like a vest covered in metal bars, something the clones had grabbed from here at the forges within the armory and a set of shin guards that looked equivalently heavy, "For the rest of our mission today and complete the jobs as they come, including further lifting jobs, I'll let you in on a secret project of mine for the village - a project that may just very well include you in the future."

Kumori herself is actually quite surprised to see Ichi approaching her in less formal clothing than when she'd seen him walk off to oversee the work being done at the armory, but he had stated that he would be returning to assist her as well. She can't help but to feel a bit proud that she'd received praise directly from her Kusa Lord, though. He'd even taken note of her apparent training for improving her strength, something she felt was necessary for improving her swordsmanship; indeed, she had a specially made weapon at home, waiting for her to be ready to wield it, but only when she feels she's become strong enough. The Futago ninja is already interested in the suggestion of training with these weights even while she completes the jobs, and she's indeed participated in quite a few of the festival competitions for the past few years, but the promise of being let it on some secret project for the village that she'd even be able to participate in makes her golden eyes sparkle.

"You've intrigued me, Lord Ichi! I couldn't possibly pass up such an offer, even if it weren't the leader of my village making it himself."

She reaches over to take hold of the weighted vest and heavy greaves, finding their weight somewhat surprising, but not too much for her to handle. Of course, she'd be wearing them over the course of performing other work, so their weight would still provide enough substantial resistance that she'd be able to work out her muscles even further. While the weight of the vest over her torso is somewhat of an annoyance, the greaves do fit over her ankles and shins without dropping over the instep of her feet, so the overall weight isn't terribly uncomfortable, and she slaps the metal bars lightly, causing the steel to ring true.

"Mm! A good fit!"

Kumori nods once, enthusiastically, to show her eagerness to begin the heavy lifting jobs, turning and watching the ashigaru hard at work with setting the stones in place for the reinforcement of the forges, and they seem more than capable for the moment, at least.

[attr="class","skullbody"]As the clones continued their work satisfied with the bet taken, the real Ichi returned back to the armory. Overseeing being most of his job, but he did have one more thing he needed to do out here. He needed to check in with the progress of, a special area for delivery here on the forging island. He was certain that Kumori would be able to handle herself swimmingly so leaving her to her own devices with the clones was easy enough. A gentle hum on his lips as he delved inside the armory to check out how things were moving.

Back on the side of the island with Kumori, the workload picked up rather then slow down. The weights given to Kumori to carry alone heavy and thankless as she was run like a dog for everything that she was worth. Lumber that needed moving to the mill, nails needing pulling and replacing. The worst though was a job that Kumori had to take on with the help of the ashigaru and Ichi's clones. One of the forges having to be moved as a solid piece from one forge to another so that the old forge could be replaced with an even higher internal temperature maximum forge. A grueling job that had ended with half of Ichi's clones bursting from exertion.

Assuming all went well though a very tired genin would be greated with a cold glass of water by her lord shortly after finishing, "Six hours passes rather fast does it not?"

『Harvest Moon's Child』
Ichi was born to the Nakahara clan on the night of a Harvest Moon. Born with quite the green thumb he was assumed to be an inheritor of the clan's natural talents with plants. The roots ran deeper, however, as Ichi was born with a Kekkai Genkai, being a rare natural occurance of Wood Release outside of the Senju. In learning of this he has trained his kekkai to the best of his abilities. He is no master, seeing as he has no reference of Mokuton, but he has found a way to bring out techniques along side his own talents in a cohesive manner.

Ichi was born with Mokuton, but he was not graced with the same level of chakra as the Senju would be in his situation. Being roughly average for an individual, Ichi instead focused on the skills his birth clan preferred. Practicing his medical skills, he has gained a higher quality of Chakra Control. Ichi is much less likely to leak chakra than the average shinobi because of this.

『The Festival's Atmosphere』
Having practiced his skills with extending his senses outwards with the use of mokuton chakra, Ichi is particularly adept at sensing life in an area. Capable of finding life through the very nature around people. Within [20 meters] Ichi is capable of passively sensing out plant and animal life in a general sense. Able to differentiate it between plant and animal, but no further. Unlike chakra sensory Ichi can not more or less readily sense others based on their chakra, but instead purely senses the 'vitality' in things, though even those with seemingly boundless vitality will read the same as the elderly or a newborn to him. Also unlike usually sensory to actively search out individuals Ichi requires Mokuton, or the use of his pipe (though using it makes his position much easier to locate), as a catalyst to extend his senses, only going out as far as the technique's range, or twice his passive range in case of the pipe. It is also notable that the deceased, and those that feign death in some fashion, as through a poison or a jutsu, are completely invisible to Ichi. Notably the furthest he can extend his senses is [100 meters].[break][break]

Ichi is incredibly smart for someone his age, but he lacks the qualifications to be a scholar. This is because his intelligence is not found in understanding of principles and anything so magnificiently deep. It instead lies in his observational talents and ability to react to everything that is going on around him with an absolute calm. Being able to plan and act with just minute details to go off of, Ichi is best described as a schemer and a diplomat rather than a genius. This makes him perfect for roles that are heavy in Tactical and Diplomatic Decision Making, as he grasps larger images and can put together clues better than others. Effectively allowing him to take in the wider picture of everything going on and piece together practical responses in mere moments with little to no hesitation or error.

[Futago Kumori]

Kumori herself is put through her paces, and the paces of several others, in order to get the jobs done that needed doing, but if anyone had a thought that Kumori herself was lazy, that thought was quickly dismissed. The black-haired Genin worked the heavy labor at least as hard, if not harder, than some of the ashigaru themselves, though their numbers were far greater than just one Kumori. That said, many of the other workers expressed disappointment that there was just one of her, and Kumori was beginning to feel the same way even before she'd finished the job of moving lumber to the mill. The work was finally causing the Genin to actually sweat in the hot sun that bore down on them, although they were lucky that the season was still just a little too early for the mosquitos and gnats to rise from the water and bring down an assault on them all.

The kunoichi actually considers removing the weights in order to help move the old forge out of what had once been its home, but she's not so easily beaten at a wager. She helps raise it with the other ashigaru and the clones of the Kusagakure Lord, but the work is hard enough that she's happy that Ichi's clones only disperse after the job has been done due to their own exhaustion. Her body seems ready to fall over for a rest, but in spite of her own levels of exhaustion, she keeps both hands on her hips, pushing her body to stay in an upright position. She was still breathing heavily and was a little unsure on her feet, but her upright stance was at least a sign to the other workers that she expected them to do the same.

Kumori turns towards the offered glass of water to see her own Kusagakure Lord standing there, playfully stating that the six hours had passed quickly. She accepts the water and drinks heavily of it, nearly drowning herself and taking a moment to pull her mouth back from the glass or risk choking on the water before she swallows and gives a response.

"So it does! But it passes slowly again as I wait to see what secret project my Lord has planned for the village... The weights are exceedingly heavy after six hours, I have to admit..."

It was the first outward showing of fatigue, but her eyes still shined with a bit of excitement at this secret she was promised.

[attr="class","skullbody"]He had recieved quite a bit of the memory of his clones when they had popped. It had been why he was so quick to return to the spot with water. He had known when the job was done, and his smile only widened when her words went to the wager that had been made. The eery calm of the man in front of Kumori stirred into a more lively energy for just a moment before it went still again. A chuckle came from his lips as he took set his yukata back on his shoulder, motioning Kumori back towards the dock to leave. They had a nice long trek left to make it back to the village and hopefully Ichi would not need to tell her to ditch her weights for him to carry them both back to the village. He was confident in lifting anyone lighter then Atagi, but if someone was wearing weights that instantly made it harder to move them.

As the two settled into the boat, Ichi took hold of the oars and began to row them out across the long body of water that was around Nokoribi, "Had to make sure it was just you to hear for now. What I am about to say is not to be spread to another soul until I make the announcement though, I hope you understand," Ichi would pull the oars again in a very long stroke his eyes fixed to the sunsetting on the water, "I am sure you were taught in the academy, but this entire body of water was always here, but the island we were both just on, Nokoribi was not. It was made, and has since held as a stronghold position here in Nohara since. It is a legacy from the previous generations of lords and ladies of this village and the Daimyo's wisdom to create such a thing."

Ichi would turn and smile at Kumori as he spoke more. The sound of the oars pushing and pulling through the natural current the only sound around the two, "I too wish to create something that will outlast myself, a legacy for the village to continue and to hopefully elevate our status not just among the common folk, but other nations. Ten blades of Grass, Ten Heroes for the village to look up to or aspire towards, ten symbols of unification and power. A cohessive group that can function as their own court and variant mission teams. Perhaps its childish, but it is why I have been laying the groundworks to find the ten with the mettle to become one of those symbols. I believe you have what it takes if you commit to it Kumori. Now what do you think?"

Kumori finally feels better now that she's able to remove the weights that had been pulling her nearly to the ground, careful to avoid dropping them into the boat as she gets in so as to avoid causing the wooden vessel to tip or drop too far into the water. After all, the more of the boat that was in the water, the harder it would be to move it, much less with the additional weight the training metal provided. Despite the Genin's noted interest, she's at least patient enough to understand the need for secrecy as the Kusa Lord starts pulling the boat back out over the water, ensuring that there are no listening ears but those who are meant to hear it.

While Ichi speaks, the raven-haired woman looks out across the water and towards the small island at its center, like a jewel placed into a ring to further increase the beauty of both. Despite the fact that she's not looking directly at him, she hangs on his every word, listening intently to his plans for a new group, a group of heroes that are meant to be something of a symbol for those in Kusagakure, an organization of ten shinobi to be what sounds like both an elite fighting force as well as a team meant to strengthen the bonds Kusagakure ninja have with one another, while also giving those same ninja a position to strive towards. It does sound quite interesting to Kumori, but her head whips around to look at Ichi, as though expecting him to be holding back a laugh at the suggestion that she might be a member of these Ten Blades of Grass. When she can see that his face is sincere, she accepts the commitment readily.

"I think if I'm to be a hero, I will need heavier weights for training."

With this commitment made clear, Kumori gives the Kusa Lord a small smile, one of both pride and excitement for her future.
