to every act its own reward Well, things had gotten hectic in a rather short time, hadn’t they? It seemed Rikuto wasn’t going to have his wish for something boring granted. Their routine, garden variety patrol had suddenly become an engagement with someone who was a rogue actor at best and at worst a hardened criminal. If their erratic behaviour was any indicator, they seemed to be a little…off, mentally, to boot. Despite his general sense for danger and his eagerness to protect, he absolutely does not expect Seto’s confluence of speed, agility, and decision making, making a mad dash through the water to slash at Rikuto. Thankfully, even if the Gure might have not been as specialized as Atagi was for close quarters bouts, he evidently wasn’t useless, made clear from the sudden springing up of a massive penny bun in order to protect himself from their assailant’s slashing and stabbing. Then all of a sudden he’s under assault and duress, the madman doing an impressive spot of aerial acrobatics before landing nearby and angling to spit fire the way of the Uzumaki. Atagi’s eyes widen a fraction, but his instincts scream, synapses firing, body a cacophonic symphony of ‘get the hell out of there’. With an excess of force, he kicks against the ground in a step, a snap sounding out like someone had just thrown a firecracker. It gets Atagi out of the way of the fireball, circling about halfway ‘round Seto, where he can throw an attack of his own; it also has the bonus of allowing him to maintain his barrier, which he might need to, since the tightness in his thigh tells him that if he uses Sonido immediately he might tear something. The foliage, the trees in particular nearby, fare much more poorly, igniting from the fireball. Atagi lets out a ”Kah!” and throws out his leg in a body kick, partly because it’s all he can do given the time and partly to test the miscreant, to see if basic attacks would even work or if they’d have to get creative. Not knowing exactly how (or if) the spores will affect him, he tries to hold his breath, too, which shuts him up for the time being. ( Gurē Rikuto Exousia)
Relevant SA:
In the Nick of Time Atagi has honed his combat instinct and reflexes via dedicated training (and at least one ‘practical experience’ in the form of having life and limb imperiled by a particular Taki-nin) to the point where he can, much of the time, reflexively move in response to threatening stimuli. Most often, these combat reflexes are defensively oriented, a la blocking or dodging. He’s nicknamed them his ‘God-Speed Impulses’, which is an obvious exaggeration.
Jutsu:
NAME: Kekkai no Yoroi (Barrier Armor) RANK: C TECH TYPE: univeral | Ninjutsu ELEMENT: None CHAKRA USAGE: High/ Very Low to maintain DESCRIPTION: The user creates a small barrier on the very outside of their skin. While this barrier is not anywhere near as resilient as other barriers because of how stretched thin it is, a normal punch being able to break it, it does protect the user from the brunt of all but the most serious attacks. Its effectiveness comes from the fact that it requires no chakra to maintain and is self repairing. However while repairing it is no longer effective and requires two whole post for the armor to becoming functional again after being hit with anything resembling an actual attack, though being hit with things that would not truly count as an attack would not break it. Requires two hand seals.
NAME: Subakage-ryū: Sonído [New Shadow Style: Reverberating Turn] RANK: D CHAKRA USAGE: Low CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu ELEMENT: N/A HANDSEALS: N/A DESCRIPTION: REQUIREMENT: Subakage-ryū: Hohō [New Shadow Style: Step Method When attacked, the shinobi is faced with a choice: block or dodge. Sonído is perhaps the most raw, speed-oriented dodge available to practitioners of Subakage-ryū. When attacked, the shinobi pushes as much physical force as possible into their step and further enhances it with some chakra. In doing so, the explosive acceleration reaches tremendous speeds. The shinobi repositions a very short distance, generally no more than a meter or two at the most. Moving further with Sonído just does not work, and due to the way they move, will cause the shinobi to trip up and tumble across the ground. While it is easiest to move in a linear fashion, Sonído can be used to circle about half way around an opponent. Sonído is rather intense, and the force pushed into one point on the ground causes a modest explosive snap at the beginning of the technique, hence its name. Because Sonído is so intense and tough on the body, it cannot be used back-to-back, and doing so will render the shinobi immobile for one round as their body recovers. Extensive use of this technique can cause damage to the body, so it is best to be somewhat conservative.
