KICHIJOTEN PRESENTS: With a new Kusa Lord came new directives, and it seemed as if all of Nohara no Kuni was enjoying the benefit of state-sponsored renovations. Some of those towns were in a worse state than others, however, and in an effort to relieve the need for supplies to these more critical locations, Rinka offered her services. Otama was closely neighbored by a great mushroom forest which intrigued Rinka greatly, and she hoped to be able to investigate it for her own research, but what was of more grave importance was the sheer quantity of lethal fungi that had grown in the ruins of this town. Partnered with her was a young Kusagakure genin of the Hono clan: Kojirou, a sweet young man whose assistance would undoubtedly be priceless in this endeavor. "I think, Kojirou-kun,” Rinka said thoughtfully as she surveyed the outskirts of the village, "that it might be wise to simply evacuate the town and rebuild it from the ground up, section by section. If the locals help us to identify the sections of rubble that have fungal growth, do you think you would be able to burn it all away? It’s very important that no spores remain before I draw growth from the ashes.” Honō Kojirou -- 206

Spoooooooooooooooooooores.

Okingshi would love to be here, but some spores and fungi were lethal to humans. Therefore, Kojirou had to be the bigger man and get rid of them, before they could take a precious human life… but there were good mushrooms, too. There was a whole forest with them nearby, but sadly, it wasn’t the focus of today’s mission. Deadly fungi that grew in ruins were a priority target today, but… truth be told, Kojirou wasn’t knowledgeable in fungi. He just knew that he could burn them, which was why he was here today – a specialist was with him, though. One from the Hidden Leaf Village, and a member of the Senju Clan!

"Yep! Easy peasy,” he reassured her of his firepower, "… But what do the fungi look like, then? Are they stuck on the walls? ‘Cause I wanted to bring a hazmat suit with me, but…” He forgot to buy one in time, and those hazmat suits became really popular lately. "… Neh, I’ll be fine. I can burn myself up, no worries there!”

He was awfully optimistic about such a graphic, thought-to-be self-mutilating action, but the Hot-Blooded Man Technique was a staple of his fire-based clan. Increasing one’s internal temperature, cracking one’s skin open to reveal magma veins manifesting, it was a good counter against some weaker foreign objects entering his bloodstream.

KICHIJOTEN PRESENTS: So optimistic, so cheerful, so eager to get to work. Rinka wished that she could put Kojirou in her pocket and take him back to Konoha—perhaps his good cheer could spread to some of the more morose of her charges, weighed down as they were by the enormity of their personal troubles. A pocket-Kojirou was sure to be good for the soul. Alas, it was not to be. Rinka stepped towards one of the more dilapidated houses, apparently unconcerned with the risk of going near these so-called deadly fungi herself, and wove a single handseal as quickly and casually as one would wave hello. A slender branch erupted from her palm and she twisted it, clipping one of the fungi off the wall off the interior of the house; a fork in the wood held the mushroom neatly in place, keeping it safely away from Rinka’s skin. She held it up for Kojirou to examine. It was milky white, with a long stalk and broad cap, and some kind of intriguing ooze dripping from the sides of it; where a drop fell onto the branch Rinka held it in, it slowly began eating away at the wood construct like a heavy-duty acid. "It might be wise to keep a healthy distance from the fungus as you burn them, Kojirou-kun,” Rinka mused. "Breathing in the fumes is likely bad for your health, and I’m unfortunately not a trained medic… do you have a way to protect yourself from poison gasses or anything of the like?” A beat, and then—”Will burning yourself up cause you any pain, for that matter?” For all the years that she’d spent in Hi no Kuni, she was still a foreigner at heart—even the clan abilities of her allies were still a mystery to her.
