[attr="class","skullbody"]A new assignment and a new day, the tracks of the train leading out of the city have been blocked by a large accumulation of ice and Jun along with a partner she was yet to meet were set to be tasked with this undertaking she was given the assingment on short notice but was eager and ready to serve, her partner was said to be handling the item in question and Jun was told to wait at the entrance for her.

In order to make their travels someone easier to manage the duo were given horses to ride along in order to get their as quickly as they could but would need to rest for at least one night since traveling in the evening hours was dangerous. Jun who was a practiced nature enthusiast would spend a great deal of her time on personal camping trips exploring the country and felt right at home and with her most recent expenditures with horse back riding she figured this would be a chance to put her new skill to the test.

And so as she sat on the back of her steed and pet its head she'd pull out her journal and begin to make a few sketches with a brush crafting some form of doodle trying to recall something from memory and after a moment began making a few light strokes in her notebook. As her creative mind wandered she'd still however have one lingering question pre-occupying her thoughts, just who was it that she'd be working with? Were they chosen at random as well? Or was it another member of the corps? Many questions raced through her mind about them but for now she was simply focus on her art.

Nashida, after being asked to look out for her clan using the symbol she'd seen, had in fact looked her up. What she could find about the Muramatsa clan, although it wasn't well-documented, was actually very interesting, although the Tantetsu ninja could do nothing with the information she could find, particularly as fragmented and incomplete as the information was. Most of what she knows is that Muramatsa will singe seals onto objects with fire of some sort and that they're not native to Yukigakure. Where they're native to couldn't really be found in any of the information she did manage to dig up about them, so it was almost a complete dead end.

That doesn't mean she'd exhausted all chances to learn about the clan, though, and one method she could still use was personal observation, so taking a mission and requesting specifically Jun to join her on it was one of the more simple methods of getting to observe her. The mission recommended to her involved the delivery of medicinal supplies to Hyozan Keep, so she thought they might end up being accosted by ambush attackers, judging by the rank of the mission. Such a situation would almost definitely require the use of a quick attack from her fellow Genin, most likely in the form of a Fuuinjutsu technique, so she'd requested that one.

She finds Jun already nose-deep in her notebook, intensely focused on her thoughts and sketching, so Nashida knows the first few attempts to get her attention likely aren't going to work, but she figures she might as well try anyway.

"Ah, Jun, I see you've got our horses ready."

Nashida clears her throat and continues, just a bit louder to get her attention.

"Jun, is the medicine prepared for the transport to Hyozan Keep? We're going to need to make sure any jostling isn't going to break the bottles the medicine is stored in, so we should be sure to keep the medicine very carefully cushioned."

As she speaks, she approaches one of the horses, which seems a bit distrustful of such a large woman riding atop it, but she keeps a firm grip on its bridle and saddle, keeping it firmly in place as she swings herself up onto it, where it manages to handle her weight just fine while Nashida carefully ensures that her shuriken are all prepared inside her weapons pouch, along with the spin-nai. She'd left her explosive tags out of her weapons pouch; the last thing she wants to do is have one of them up-end the transport with the medicine.

"Nashida, what a delightful pleasure it is to see you again!" she'd say smiling back to her. The woman would ask her if she had the medicine tightly packed to which the woman would point to the scrolls across her back. "But of course, I have the supplies tucked away inside of a scroll along with camping equipment and if need be horse feed." the girl would say rather dutifully. With that she would gesture for the young woman to make her way over towards her and would show her the map that she had laid out.

"I've estimated that the time it may take us to travel to Hyozan Keep from our current destination could be anywhere between a few hours if weather permits, however in the event of disaster this could take us until tomorrow morning." the girl had clearly thought all of this through perhaps a bit too much but she always felt that "If you fail to prepare, your prepare to fail." and as such she tended to do more than what was required however given this situation it may have been necessary, as she continued her explanation she would move her finger down towards a forested region.

"To note however I suggest we move along a course that is near to the forest, that way if possible we can set up camp if need be..." she'd then slide her finger right down towards one of the nearby towns that girl had labeled on her map, Nuigurumi. "But in doing so we'll be within a stones throw of the town of Nuigurumi, a small hamlet known for housing some unsavory individuals. And while I am a diplomat by trade I doubt vagabonds such as them will be willing to negotiate for long." there she goes rambling yet again but it was simply in her nature. "Any questions?" she'd say as she tucked the map away a serious expression on her face as she grabbed the reigns of her horse.

Nashida gestures her own horse closer to Jun's as she motions for the Genin to come closer in order for her to take a look at the map. She listens as the other Genin explains the route they'll be taking and how it might take them a long time to reach Hyozan Keep if the weather takes a disastrous turn. The Tantetsu wouldn't know for sure if this was the case; this far north, all bets were off when it comes to trying to predict the weather. Just about the only known fact was that the temperature would be cold, as it always was in Yukigakure. And while the Tantetsu don't suffer as much from the cold or hot sensations as other people, they were still susceptible to frostbite, so taking shelter might still be necessary, depending on if they end up caught in a storm's trek across the snowy wasteland.

The idea that they might meet some vagabonds actually gets Nashida's heart racing. If they did meet such a group of ne'er-do-wells, it'd be the first time she's seen combat since she started learning to use the Steel Release that her own clan is known for. It's an exciting idea, and could potentially be a good test of her ability to make use of her clan's kekkei tota, outside of practice and without the direct supervision of her own tutor. For now, though, she suppresses the excitement it builds in her; for now, there's no reason to get all worked up over something that might not even happen, and certainly hasn't happened to them yet.

"You've put a lot of thought into this."

As though in response to Jun's rambling speech, Nashida's own speech seems to become even more truncated and staccato, almost laconic in its brevity. On being asked if she has any questions, the blonde woman shakes her head a bit.

"No, you've thought of pretty much everything, it seems. Let's get moving. If we're lucky, we might raze Nuigurumi to the ground and expand the reach of Yukigakure."

The last statement was made partially in jest, but her tone was characteristically dry; Jun might take it either way.

"Thought if the might of Yukigakure is necessary I'm sure we will keep their hands full." the girl would say to her with a smile, Jun wasn't one to start with violence first as customary with most members of the diplomacy corps but should push come to shove she wouldn't consider herself a pacifist for the sake of survival.

She'd snap the reigns mushing her steed along and the two would make their way down into the snowy brush heading towards the south west near the forested area there wasn't too much time for the two of them to talk however she couldn't take enjoyment in getting to view the expanse in a much more different light, seeing the brutality of nature has something of an artistic value that one wouldn't be able to properly capture from the safety of a train. it was something she hadn't done in sometime, however back then she was simply a child looking for a home.

Now an adult something about it felt enthralling freeing even, however this time rather than on foot she rode on the backs of a horse and watched every inch of the snowy expanse pass her by as they rode their way down the artic trench.

Nashida grunts softly at the suggestion that they might not resort to violence; for the blonde woman, violence was a part of being, something present at all stages and facets of life. Struggle and strife are things that one must experience if one is to survive, and Nashida planned to survive for a long time. As it is, she chooses to lean forwards a bit as she also urges her horse forwards to follow after Jun. Although the snow is annoying, Nashida has few methods of shielding her eyes from the wind that whips past her as they ride, and can only blink more often as she does her best to avoid causing too much drag on her horse. This time, at least, she's wearing her bear-hide black cloak, since she had also expected the trip to be a long one, judging by the distance to Hyozan Keep.

As they ride, Nashida gradually learns how to keep from bouncing with every gallop of the horse, which the horse underneath her is likely to find helpful, considering the absolute size of the Genin riding it. The blonde feels her hair whipping all about behind her, but it's not like she can do anything about it, so she ignores it for now and focuses only on the road ahead. While Jun might be eyeing the scenery, it apparently holds little of interest for the Tantetsu ninja, even as they approach the trench and head right across. It's not until she can see the small island-like spot of green and brown that marks the edge of the forest that she takes more direct notice of their surroundings. After a quick glance up, she can see that the clouds are becoming less fluffy and cotton-like, and much more gray and churning like a murky soup, signifying the coming of hardship. Specifically, hardship in the form of a storm, bringing all the wind and snowfall that follows after the difference in pressure.

"We'll want to make camp later tonight for certain, Jun. For now, we should ride as far as we can; we should try and make as much of this distance as possible."

Of course, at this range and their rate of speed, it would still take them a few hours to reach the edge of the forest that's only just visible on the flat horizon ahead of them, but Nashida doesn't seem to mind even the wind-whipped cold that lashes out at her. She's far more preoccupied with the sight of the stormcloud.

[attr="class","skullbody"]As the two of them would keep riding in the snow, Jun would also notice how harrowing the clouds had gotten, and she would nod to her partner who was out in the distance not far from her. "Indeed let's keep going and make our way into the forest we can shield ourselves from the elements as best we can there."

The two would keep riding for just a few hours and eventually make their way into the deeper parts of the forest as the clouds would begin to fully betray them and bring down the mother of all snowstorms just on the outer reaches of the forested region, which the two were able to shield themselves from however the windchill was still somewhat apparent at least for the moment, thankfully Jun's winter clothing and thermal undergarments were able to shield her from the elements for the most part.

Once they had arrived at a suitable location Jun would remove one of the larger scrolls she had brought along and laid it out onto the ground and would break the seal causing all of her materials to unravel. "Alright then let's get started, I can set up camp would you be able to find us some wood, I've some dry meat that was freshly hunted from my homestead." she'd say looking to her with a smile, as she attempted to set up the campsite proper setting up their tent and laying out sleeping bags inside...one of which might not've been large enough to contain the taller girl simply by the proxy of how large she was.

Jun would look back out towards her rather bashfully, once everything was said and done. "Did you bring...sleeping supplies for yourself Nashida I...don't find that the ones I have may be suitable for a woman of your..." she'd clear her throath as not to offend her with such a comment. "Stature." the girl would say with a bashful blush as she laid everything out, trying to keep a straight and composed face despite unintentionally calling attention to her size.

Nashida dismounts once they reach the edge of the forest, with Jun already laying out the large scroll to reveal a massive seat, apparently containing much of their camping supplies, and the Tantetsu recognizes just how useful Fuuinjutsu is when it can be used for transportation like this. Almost immediately after climbing off her horse, she removes her own bear-skin cloak and ties it around her horse, letting the latent body heat from her own body as well as the heat-trapping properties of the thick bear hide keep the horse warm even if it needs to stand still. Upon being asked if she'll be able to find some wood, Nashida nods once. She's been out and had to collect firewood before, so she's perfectly knowledgeable about what's required for more than just a simple campfire, and that means dry wood. Even from where Jun is starting to set up camp, the Tantetsu can see one tree that's nearly fallen all the way down, but has been held somewhat upright by the trees around it, and she's certain such a tree would provide some perfectly dry wood that hasn't started rotting yet.

She pauses though when she's asked if she brought sleeping supplies for herself, looking down at the much smaller Genin that had agreed to take the mission. Nashida raises one eyebrow at her, then shakes her head, not as an answer, but with apparent disdain.

"I won't need any such thing. I will be warm."

With that, Nashida pulls her shuriken out of her weapons pouch and fills them with her chakra, slowly molding them into a much greater all-metal axe. Although she wasn't very good at using weapons, she was at least handy with tools, and even a simpleton could know enough about an axe to use it as either a weapon or as a tool, so it would be useful not just for chopping the wood off the dead tree, but also for protection.

"Keep your eyes peeled, hm?"

With that, she walks off towards the dead tree, thankfully within view even in this weather of Jun's camping spot, and she immediately begins chopping away at the trunk of the half-fallen tree, eventually separating large chunks and also stripping bark and wood fibers off the outside of the tree, making sure to shave off enough to use for tinder as well. This was something she had learned from working with a forge, so it was something she would have learned soon after her tutor arrived to Yukigakure to train her.

[attr="class","skullbody"]After her comment she had recognized the look in the large woman's eyes and felt a tad dissapointed in herself. "I mean you no offense." the girl would say noting the disdain her eyes, after a moment the girl would go and would seemingly grab the one that she needed but was left with a word of warning to keep her eyes peeled, to which Jun would nod she was well aware of the territory that they had been situated in and wasn't going to let that be lost on her. However whilst the woman left Jun began a rather peculiar practice.

Before she had chosen this spot she took observation of the area around her and now would begin performing some measurements funneling chakra into her eyes and crated a singular line and would walk out to measure the distance with Shinobi wire. "5 meters good." the brand was visible in the snow when Nashida returned but would eventually be buried after a short time once she returned.

"Nashida go ahead and get the fire started, the scroll is right next to the tent." she'd say pointing to it as she went inside to seemingly retrieve something. The scroll itself was a decent size not as massive as the camping scroll but still somewhat large. Inside after breaking the seal with a kunai or other sharp object the meat would be laid out neatly and while dried was well preserved.

After a moment Jun would exit out from her tent once again holding her notebook and flipping through it's pages. "You can go ahead and start cooking, I'll join you once I'm done." Jun would say not taking her eyes off of the snow. With that the girl would begin pacing around the campsite walking it in a circle in her hands the girl held her notebook open to a specific page where a seal could be seen one that read with the words. "Paralysis."

She'd stand right where the first brand she had created was left a simple straight line and after a moment her eyes would flare up with a reddish light as a beam of katon chakra would emit from her eyes and begin to burn into the snow one long line that seemed to read as part of something, what it was would be unraveled slowly. "Good, That's one part down." the heat was intense as was the sight itself, just what was she doing.

Nashida tilts her head again as she returns to see Jun hard at work on... something. It's hard to guess what she's doing walking around with her nose in her own notebook, but then again the Genin wasn't all that skill with Fuuinjutsu or its many seals, and the only reason she knew about the explosive tag symbol was because she had a couple of such seals within her own inventory and had looked at them every now and then. It doesn't matter too much to Nashida at the moment anyway, as she's busy with trying to get the fire lit as she was instructed. She starts by gathering the light kindling into a ball, rolling the wooden fibers together until it forms a bowl-like shape that she presses to the ground and then protects from the wind by blocking it with her body.

She forms her previous axe into a form of a hammer and a small, long piece of steel, and she gets started and smashing the hammer down on the steel, almost as though she were cold-welding the steel. In reality, she wasn't applying any further chakra to the steel spine in her hand, merely smashing the hammer into the head of it again and again, aiming for the exact same spot. This was a technique taught to her by Kazeo himself, and once she could see that the steel was getting red-hot from the hammering, she presses the hard steel into the tinder, causing it to light into a fire quickly. Right away, Nashida continues to protect the fragile flame with her large body and starts to layer on the dry wood, making sure that it catches light itself before she adds it to the growing pile that turns into a real campfire. In reality, it was even easier than when Nashida had to light a forge; a forge needed to get hot enough to soften steel, but a campfire needed to be much weaker than that, and so the blonde woman only needed to keep it burning.

By the time the wooden fire is alight and kept burning by the wood, she turns back to look and pay more attention to what Jun is doing, catching her just as her eyes light up with a familiar red light while she's reaching over to pick up some of that meat, constructing what were once her shuriken into a kind of mesh catch to hold the meat over the flame, cooking the dried meat into a much more tender form that would allow the women to eat it.

"Hmph. Seems like you could have made the campfire yourself."

"I suppose you have a point, but I figured it would be better for me to apply my chakra to this even more so." as she kept firing off her beam she'd craft yet another stem of the seal she was making the seal for also roughly 5 meters long each one having a different set of kanji applied to the brand. She'd look back at her notebook making sure everything was roughly kept in line and after sometime she'd take in the scent of meat that the girl was cooking the smell making her stomach rumble.

It was nearly causing her to lose concentration but she'd stow herself and look back towards the meat. "That meat smells delectable, and if you must know I'm crating something of a barrier for us." the girl would say for once actually not saying too much and focusing on the task at hand as the seal would come to form it would become a bit more distinct that the seal that was being crafted was the paralysis seal and thus far it had covered more than half of the perimeter of the camp, and was nearly complete.

Once she had gotten near the end of the creation the girl would take a moment to take a breather Jun having taken a considerable amount of chakra to craft such a large seal and while the radius of the seal was still only five meters area it covered was significantly larger. "What do you think, it's nearly done." the girl would say somewhat proud of her work, having painstakingly crafted the seal to near perfection. "Can you recognize it yet?" the girl would say asking her if she was able to decipher it.

Nashida can't help but to smile when Jun compliments her on the smell of the cooking meat, and the Tantetsu is careful to ensure that the meat is also carefully rehydrated as it cooks, utilizing some of the snow to both cool it, rehydrate it, and then cook it further. It's a somewhat involved process, but it turns the meat juicy again while also making the meat far more tender than it would normally be, even if it were completely fresh. The drying process had also been used to instill some flavor in the meat through the dehydrating process of using smoke, so some of that scent was also coming off of it. But the comment also immediately afterwards leaves Nashida concerned, because she knows that the smoke from the campfire as well as the smell of the meat cooking might draw attention to them, if not from the village then almost certainly from other people who might come looking for some easy food.

"Then we might have some excitement after all. If you're crafting that barrier now, I suggest finishing it immediately or getting ready for a fight we might have sometime soon."

She also makes her previous shuriken into cups, using her chakra and a great deal of control to gradually form them into steel bowls, then making them taller to form more cup shapes. This amount of concentration of her chakra into steel is certainly having its effects on Nashida, giving her a bit of a headache, but it's at least done quickly as she uses the cups to fill with snow, which then becomes melted near the campfire, then boils off to make steam that washes over the meat as it cooks. When she's asked what she thinks, she looks around at the perimeter, noticing that it doesn't entirely surround them, then goes back to cooking the meat, grunting softly before she gives her full answer.

"I think it's part of a perimeter, all right. But I hope it doesn't go off for just anything, because if you have to lay it out every single time a straw snow bunny stumbles onto it, you're going to have a very rough night where you get no sleep at all..."

It's right after she says this that Nashida remembers the explosion that had caused her steel statue to become nothing more than mangled steel, and she gives Jun a tight glare. The question she asks makes it clear that she has absolutely no idea how to even decipher Fuuinjutsu seals.

"The perimeter you're making... it's not made with the same seal that you used back when we were training, is it?"

[attr="class","skullbody"]The girl would take a moment to enjoy the scent of the freshly cooked food which only spurred her on to finish her barrier even after once she had finished taking a short breather. For just a few moments longer she would finish crafting the barrier down to its final details. During this time Nashida would give her response which was simple but as she denoted it she seemed as thought she was nervous about something the manner in which it would function.

"Well the barrier is meant to react to chakra that isn't my own so there is a possibility it will react to whatever steps over, however the effects only last a short while and the glow it gives off is meant to be a deterrent." she'd look around at the snow nearby and then around at the perimeter she's now created. My plan is to lay snow atop it so that any enemies who cross are caught unaware, but I'm sure in time nature will do it's course soon enough and please do be careful stepping across it I left a small opening in the center there so make sure to memorize it."

With the seal now complete the girl was ready to eat and as she sat down Nashida who would ask if it was the same seal that she had used against her the day before. "Do you think me mad, of course not." the woman would say with a chortle as she sat down and the symbol within her eyes would dispell back to its usual amber shade. "If it concerns you, why don't we take turns guarding the campsite at night, we can leave out in the morning and be in Hyozan within just a few hours." the girl would say with a smile, as she watched the food cook waiting until she was able to take a piece for herself, she didn't say it but she was impressed with the girls ingenuity and ability to think on the fly in order to use several different methods to cook her meat, things Jun hadn't thought of but then again she also didn't have abilities like hers.

"I must say Nashida...its a shame that this is the closest to a friendly encounter we've had so far. But perhaps once this mission is over we could get to know each other better." she'd say for once her words not sounding as thought they had any kind of a double meaning behind them she'd look to the food as it cooked and would smile the moment reminding her of the many camping excursions she went on herself. "A shinobi with a foreign origin is something I find rather fascinating and is also something we both have in common, perhaps we could share stories." she'd say with a smile.

Nashida eats some of the meat herself, enjoying the taste of the dried beef that Jun had brought with her in the scroll. She had somewhat expected it to taste a little like ink and paper, but the sealing jutsu had obviously not left any side-effects on the food. She does her best to keep the surprise off her face, though, especially as the conversation is changing to something a bit more serious, that being about their pasts. The blonde considers how much she can discuss with this stranger, especially since some of her history is possibly rather telling about the Tantetsu clan, but she decides that this other Genin is probably just fine knowing about some of the politics.

"I was born in Iwagakure, though my mother was thought to not have any ability to use the clan's kekkei tota. My father was a Yukigakure ninja. They were fighting on the same side in a war among many wars... I'm not sure I even remember which one. After I was born, my father wanted to return to his homeland, and since my mother couldn't use the clan's special techniques, it was allowed. And now here I am, capable of using the kekkei tota, but as far removed from the rest of the clan as one can be. A tutor came one day to teach me about the clan's jutsu and how to forge."

It was quite short, but for Nashida, she'd just said a lot, compared to her usual laconic speech. After saying so much, she spends more time eating than she had spent talking, listening to hear if Jun has as much to say as she did. Not that she needs to guess, she probably does, but Nashida listens to it all, anyway. While the blonde wasn't much of a talker herself, she was clearly a very good listener, and certainly paid attention to the other person when they spoke.

After listening to Jun, she stands up and looks back at the tent before reaching down underneath the campfire, grabbing up a stone that had been there, under the fire for a long while, and she quickly wraps it in one of the steel cups, since it's still too hot to handle directly for too long. The steel would absorb and then spread the heat all along itself before she dumped the rock back into the campfire, then looked at Jun directly.

"Thank you. I'll take the first rest. When you start to feel tired, wake me for the second watch. If we're lucky, the storm will be over..."

[attr="class","skullbody"]Jun would take in the food and would enjoy it for the moment as the girl would go on and tell her a small yarn that is her life, a simple tale of her family meeting one another falling in love during war but being unable to stay with one another explaining how she was born here but took on the techniques that her mother didn't have. "I see quite the tale, mine isn't as cheery I'm afraid, my people are nomadic and originally I was born in Bear country, my family were mercenaries and lived just outside the hidden village." she'd say pausing for a moment.

"My mother and father raised me there but when I was 6 years old, the shinobi of Hoshigakure betrayed my people and wiped out our tribe, from there we scattered and fled here." recalling the events was always stoic for her since she was never told the full story of what happened since her father opted to never tell her even now that she were older its the one curiosity she never wanted to uncover. "After arriving in Yuki no Kuni we traveled the country for 6 years somewhat aimlessly and eventually when I was 12 we arrived here and Yukigakure has been my home ever since, sometimes I wonder what things would've been like in Kuma no Kuni...but I'm happy here this is my home, do you feel the same?"

She would smile like always but there was clearly some hidden pain in her expression, the girl however would listen not saying much, not that there was much to actively say in the first place something she appreciated since she was giving her the respect to speak. During her pauses she'd take bites of her food the taste of the succulent beef soothing her for the time. With that the two of them would divvy up who would do what, with Nashida wanting to take the first rest. "Eat too much did we?" she'd snicker. "Don't worry...rest up I'll come wake you in a few hours."

Her shift was relatively uneventful only the sounds of a few animals that once they felt the shock of the technique come over them would back away and flee, after a few hours the sun had gone down and it was starting to get quite dark.
