DESCRIPTION: An armor set of deep brushed grey color, which protects the wearers entire body save the head. Unlike the rounded edges and plates of most armors, dreadknight plate is designed with many sharp curves and angles, giving it a very peculiar aesthetic. Groups of thin sharp spikes emanate from the armor in several places such as the pauldrons, greaves, joints and fingertips; as a deterrent against physical attacks. It is crafted from the infamous Ranmantaru steel, keeping it in near pristine condition since it's creation. ABILITIES: Volcanic Aura - During the forging process volcanic ash, charcoal and Katon reactive metal was folded and mixed into the Ranmantaru Steal to create a uniquely strange alloy. Upon exposure to the wearer's Katon chakra, starting at the thinnest area's such as the plate's edges, the metal will glow deep red to a bright orange as the chakra intensity increases; a slight heat, scolding to the touch will accompany this change to orange. The wearer has slight protection from this heat through a thin layer of pure Ranmantaru steal under the reactive one. However as the alloy begins to heat up it starts to produce a harmless yet thick black smoke. The glow from the armor somewhat reflects through and against the smoke, giving it a sinister volcanic-like appearance. Any contact with enough water to cool the metal will nullify this affect. Low Drain - Localized in a specific area of the armor (gauntlets, pauldrons, knee caps, etc) it begins to glow a deep red. Touching the metal will cause 1st degree burns after extended contact (three posts). The black smoke begins to billow out, light enough that it raises upward in the air and is highly susceptible to being dispersed by any Fuuton jutsu capable of creating a controlled breeze, while it somewhat conceals anything obscured by it. The wearer can sustain this for up to five posts before the heat seeps through the pure Ranmantaru steal layer and also burns them. Medium Drain - At most one third of the armor is affected, large surfaces now glow the deep red while edges begin to turn bright orange. The heat emitted from the armor will cause first degree burns after prolonged contact (two posts). The black smoke is now slightly heavier as it's produced in larger quantities, it is still able to be dispersed easily by Fuuton techniques (D-Rank+), but can provide momentarily cover comparable to half the size of a regular smoke bomb. The wearer can sustain this for up to four posts before the heat seeps through the pure Ranmantaru steal layer and also burns them. High Drain - Half the armor is affected, with most of it glowing the bright orange color and only hints of red remain. Hot to the touch, the armor will cause immediate first degree burn upon contact. The black smoke bellows out in a thick haze, dense enough to fall slowly to the ground, giving the appearance of a cloak. It will begin to disperse once reaching the ground, swept away and thinning out one meter from the wearers feet. This will totally obscure the wearers body, except for their head unless an Fuuton technique of sufficient force is used (C-Rank+) to clear it away. The wearer can sustain this for up to two posts before the heat seeps through the pure Ranmantaru steal layer and also burns them. Ranmantaru Craftsmanship - Armor of Thorns - The Armor has many sharp protruding spikes roughly four inch in length incorporated throughout, namely in places which would be considered points of weakness on other armors; the shoulders, elbows, legs and knees are all covered by these. This defense is designed to dissuade potential taijutsu attacks, causing minor piercing damage similar to a kunai if ignored. Angular Design - Another particular design feature of the dread knight armor is its sharp corners and sharp lines. While this increases the effectiveness of blunt force against the armor, it increases the chance of weapons such as swords, arrows and throwing weapons to be deflected should the wearer position themselves correctly.
