Things in the medical corps had slowed down slightly, this might have been due to the Chunin Exams going on in Kumogakure right now, so it was weird for Chie to have so much free time. Well, it wasn't that much, but it was enough for Chie to not be on her feet as much as she usually was. So she would call it a break, but that also meant she wasn't being productive with her time and this bothered her. She needed to do something so why not ask for guidance from someone of seniority to her?[break][break]

Approaching the office of the head medic Chie would tap on his door awaiting their response to enter. Once allowed in she would enter the room and give them a quick bow before asking, "Would you be willing to teach me some new techniques to improve upon for our medical procedures?" She was very vague with her question she will admit which was a bit out of her character, but she figured by being vague she left it up to the head medic on what to teach her. Maybe they held some sort of special technique she could take under her wing and develop her medical techniques even further.

Jiro, seated at his desk amidst a clutter of medical journals and scrolls, looked up with mild interest at best as Chie tapped on his door. An audible sigh escaped his lips as if he wished he could be anywhere else but here. His demeanor remained characteristically composed as he called out in his typical monotone voice, "You can just come in, you don’t have to knock,” his gaze fixed on her as she entered and offered a respectful bow. He sighed at the formalities of such things, gesturing with his hand for her to proceed with her inquiry.

He listened attentively to Chie's question, his monotone voice cutting through the quiet of the room as he responded, "New techniques, huh?" He leaned back in his chair, his posture relaxed yet attentive, as he considered the nature of her request, placing his pen on the desk so he could give the moment the attention it deserved.

After a brief pause, during which he folded his arms across his chest in contemplation, Jiro continued after another one of his typical disinterested sighs that almost seemed to always happen when he was talking to his juniors and students, his tone retained its characteristic dryness. "Not to be rude or anything, but there are a lot of techniques that could enhance your repertoire, it just comes with the nature of how young you are. Hmm…" His deadpan stare lingered on her for a moment before he continued, "assuming you don’t have an aversion to leeches, the summoning technique might make sense. You might be limited to the little suckers given your current skill level, but the leeches are pretty good against poison.”

The air in the room seemed to hang with anticipation as Jiro awaited Chie's response. Despite his outwardly reserved demeanor, there was a subtle undercurrent of curiosity in his eyes, a spark of interest in the potential avenues for skill development that their conversation might uncover. As he waited, his mind began to wander, considering the myriad possibilities for expanding their repertoire of medical knowledge and techniques. Chie never really worked with the head medic before so she didn't know the extent of his personality well and honestly from how he reacted to the customs everyone else followed it seemed he didn't care for them. Certainly made Chie feel better about working with him since she didn't care for these customs either and would enter his office as instructed. Though after she posed her question he stayed quiet for a bit probably contemplating how to respond to her rather selfish request. After all, she was barely a highly trained medic and had a lot to learn when it came to her medical talent, but she had ambition and drive and if he had something he could teach her that another couldn't she would take it.[break][break]

Her intuition on this proved fruitful as he suggested for her to learn how to summon leeches which made Chie's mind begin racing, "Hmmmm a rather old healing method, but one that proved to have some positive methods to them that medicine doesn't always solve as easily." Chie kept thinking of the medical scroll and books she read over the years and why she hadn't thought of them before. Clearly a lack of observation on her part, but at least she could make up for that error and possibly learn it from the head medic. Focusing her thoughts though she said, "Any avenue it takes to enhance my abilities is a skill I'm willing to undertake." A little robotic in how she said this as it was something she believed in full-heartedly, but had very much rehearsed before. It was true though as she was willing to do just about anything to expand her knowledge of medical techniques especially if it meant she could improve her father's abilities in turn.

Jiro couldn't suppress another one of his characteristic sighs, the sound betraying a mix of resignation and a subtle hint of amusement at Chie's earnest response. Tilting his head slightly, he regarded her with his usual deadpan stare before speaking in his monotone voice.

"These aren't your ordinary leeches, mind you," he explained, and despite his typically subdued tone, a glimmer of enthusiasm seeped into his words. "The leeches I summon possess a remarkable ability to extract poisons from the body at an alarming rate, far surpassing the capabilities of their mundane counterparts. Mastery of summoning these leeches could render one nearly immune to most poisons, as they would basically remove any foreign substances from the blood before they could wreak havoc."

He paused for a moment, allowing the weight of his words to settle in before continuing, "But be warned, Chie. The upper echelon of leeches will regard you as little more than sustenance unless you earn their respect, a feat I'm still endeavoring to achieve myself, truth be told. If you can't gain a modicum of respect or if you find them repulsive, you won't be able to fully harness their potential." With a deliberate movement, Jiro casually lifted his vest to reveal a handful of the lesser leeches feasting on his own blood. Though not immediately apparent, when Jiro initially forged the contract, he offered his body as sustenance to nourish their young, a sacrifice to gain their cooperation in summoning.

As he let his vest fall back into place, Jiro leaned forward in his chair, folding his arms across his chest once more. "With that in mind, are you certain you want to enter into a contract with the leeches?" His question hung in the air, a solemn reminder of the gravity of the decision Chie faced. Failure to earn the respect of the leeches could render the skill useless, and Jiro hoped Chie understood the weight of her choice.

As the conversation reached its juncture, Jiro couldn't help but feel a twinge of satisfaction at the prospect of guiding another aspiring medic along the path of knowledge and skill. Despite his outwardly indifferent demeanor, there was a flicker of pride in knowing that he played a part in shaping the future of Iwagakure's medical corps.

Jiro made valid points in his argument and though Chie did take things from a more methodical or scientific viewpoint she couldn't help but feel a bit perturbed by the whole process of using her own body for this process. Though then again it wasn't like the medical process didn't undergo human testing at one point or another so what did it matter if she had to use her blood and flesh to forge the way towards knowledge? Seemed like a decent enough trade she just might need to up her diet a bit so the leeches didn't force her to lose too much blood.[break][break]

"A fair warning," Chie would say flatly and would even give a polite nod to the appearance of the leeches upon Jiro's body before making her decision. "Can't say how confident I can be in the ordeal nor if I will be worthy of the leech's attention, but what I can say is I have a drive to increase my medical knowledge and if these leeches provide an avenue for it I'm not going to give in easily," Chie would say with a rare grin on her face showing off how ambitious she was for improving her knowledge base. Even if this knowledge probably wouldn't help her father in the ring during his fights it would at least be something she could use in the hsinobi field if she could get leeches blessings.
