Kaede decided that he would take the first watch of the night, giving Chisai the second watch and finally Yoshitaka with third watch. During Kaede's watch, nothing seemed to happen and sooner rather than later it was time to hand the watch over to Chisai, before getting some rest himself Kaede had made sure to call over his wolves and make sure they were given some food. Kaede would then allow the wolves to get some sleep themselves as Kaede took to a nearby tree and sat down on the ground, his wolves would gather close to Kaede and sleep around him. They had always been so protective of Kaede and the same with Kaede with them. Sooner rather than later the morning light shined brightly around the camp even in the cover they found themselves in small pockets of light that came from the trees above them enough to let them know it was morning.

Kaede would get up from the ground below, before telling his wolves to go back to scouting the area. The group before long was all ready to set off once again. Yoshitaka suggested that they carry on as they have been, and Kaede agreed with this notion. " There is no reason for now we shouldn't keep moving as we have been prior." With that Kaede took his position back amongst the blacksmiths on the cart with him being on the back of the cart guarding the rear. His wolves keeping a watch on the rear instructed to warn Kaede and the group with a howl if anything was approaching.

The conclusion of the first section of Group B's passage has passed without incident! Don't expect this to continue for the entire ride. With this rotation this section will be over and the next leg of the journey will begin, so allow me to explain a rule that continues forward: Exhuastion. Due to this being a continuous thread chakra is mostly non-replenishable, this will mostly be true through sections, but between sections chakra reserves will only replinish by up to half. Please be cautious!

POST

The group's travel would continue uninterupted the almost abrupt shift from near narren stonelands to the warmer meadows and rice patties of Vegetable Country almost jarring if one had nothing better to do. The scenic route that the trio of shinobi and their wards were taking, despite it being the quickest, would pass by a small series of houses that looked like farmer's homes. Nothing out of the ordinary, did that mean that they dropped their vigilance though? The roads straightening out to paved paths between the various small clumps of farm homes and through the first major town that they had crossed since starting the journey.

The smiths continued their almost statue like vigil, though the eldest seemed to have taken to widdling something with a carving knife and a branch they had grabbed during the morning of. Overhead a flock of dark birds seemed to circle before flying away from the group, it was like being watched by a flock for a moment before being deemed uninteresting be the collective.

With little impedement the group could continue into the nation for the day. Continuing for another few days without issue would get them most of the way through vegetable country towards Bird Country.

Their mission had been so far too easy and too tranquil if she could say her say. Save for the sound of a wild animal in the almost barren land getting her attention. As they continued their march to the new land, she would bring one of the wafers that served as her rations, finding them as tasteful as cardboard despite the 'new and improved' formula that the research team from the medical corps had advertised. She took another bite without complaint, and washed it with water, turning the dried rations into a sludge that was somehow less palatable.

Her eyes of lilac starlight would then turn towards what seemed to be a small hamlet as they entered the land of vegetables. The barren lands being replaced by the the warm weather of a country that had seemingly been granted the boon of an environment ideal for produce. She could feel the rivulets of sweat slowly descending down her pale flesh, her golden mane feeling slightly heavier out of the humidity. All she could deal with.

"Oh, that small farm does scream like a trap." The Lioness used to her cousin in a half serious, half in jest tone. She had expected Yachiru's roar to signal something. And in the few times ahead she had seen glimpses of the hunting lioness as she would scout, clearly just to tell her that the mission continued. "What say you coz?" She said, turning to Yoshitaka. "Is that a clever ploy or merely farmers waiting to trade with the first passerby group they get their chance?" If it was the latter, she didn't mind to spend some coin into getting something actually palatable.

Honō Yoshitaka

The new day's journey started out just as smoothly as the last one, Yoshitaka having eaten the designated rations early in the day before breaking out some of his snacks to make the trip a bit more palatable as he guided the cart across the roads, his amber gaze scanning the enviroment from beneath his straw hat.

"I'm perhaps more concerned about that flock of birds," Yoshitaka suggested with a slight gesture in the direction of said birds. Such creatures were fairly commonly used by shinobi after all, and to him they were more of a signal of possible bad things than the farm they were approaching, though the two together could certainly be the trigger for something nasty, "the longer we go without a problem the more concerned I get," he added softly, just loud enough for Chisai to hear him.

It would almost be a relief for something to happen, because then that would hopefully mean that the next problem wouldn't be too hard. In his experience, the longer it took for something to go wrong, the larger the 'wrong' would be. Still, there wasn't much he could do with what they had seen for now except be alert while playing the part of a simple porter leading the cart, and hopefully get underestimated.

As time went on for the traveling group of shinobi and smiths the stranger it seemed there had been no interference up to now. It was a little unsettling to think about since anything could happen at any time. Still, Kaede and the rest of the group remained on guard well at least Kaede did at all times as they arrived in the Vegetable Country. The rise in temperature around the area made this quite warmer than it had been prior but nothing that Kaede wasn't used to. He was a well-traveled man and experienced at that so a little warm weather wasn't going to bother him, even though it made it slightly worse for him since he was covered in a cloak and mask.

Around the area seemed to be small homes they looked like farm homes in the little town before them. Nothing seemed to be out of place except a normal quiet town, while Kaede kept his guard up as he watched from the back of the cart. His wolves also didn't howl for any incoming danger as they continued to watch the rear of the cart, His wolves were spread out but covered a a good distance of the rear flank. Kaede even reached into his pouch and pulled out his whiskey flask he opened it before raising it to his lips to have a little drink before replacing the top back on it and returning it to his pouch, the taste of good liquor was always nice.

Other than that Kaede kept to himself he could hear the other two ninja talking but remained silent for the most part and would only talk if required to do so. Not that he was ignoring anyone, it just didn't make sense for him to interrupt or talk about something that not directed at him so kept to himself.

The next four days of travel were calm, too calm as they passed through Vegetable country to Bird country, however Tori no Kuni proved perfect reachable. The only sign of an ill omen the ever increasing number of corvids that hung above or away from the caravan. Was it so strange though? Tori was a nation filled with hundreds of varieties of bird due to their abundance of nutty plants that carried a plethora of seed in their fields, often with more then enough for an avian flock to feast and not damage a harvest.

The blacksmiths had been as stoic as before, but had begun to ask small questions about the different countries the silence getting to them finally after nearly a week of travel. A good sign towards the groups getting along if nothing else. To the credit of both Chisai and Kaede's summoned companions there would be signals on occasion of something approaching only to back off when it got caught. What it was was never revealed, but it was certainly an additional worry.

What would the team do with the information? It was ultimately up to the three as the smiths simply didn't seem to want to be in charge of their security if they didn't need to be - perhaps their compliant non-involved nature was part of the test? All questions for the Elite Jounin to solve.

Chisai's eyes narrowed at the distant sound of the lioness roar. Her muscles tightening in response as she expected an attack from any side at any second although nothing seemed to happen immediately after. Silence reigned, interrupted only by the sound of the carriage trudging along with pathway and the sound of hushed whispers and the murders of crows cawing in the distance, an eerie feeling fell down like a shroud around, at least to her. She wondered slightly if these were just the normal migratory behavior of said bird, but in truth she didn't have an answer of the sudden appearance of the flocks of corvids.

"I agree with the birds..." She said, turning to look at her kin. "Unless a battle happened here and we didn't noticed it, or somehow a graveyard was dug up, the crows don't have a reason for a feast..." She added softly, eyes of starlight looking at any obvious signs of a trap or an ambush waiting to happen, but in truth there was nothing else. And each step felt like another trap waiting for the lot of them. "I get the sinking suspicion that the crows are either watching us or part of the trap."

The Lioness added, it felt in many ways as if she was being paranoid, but in truth she rather be that than allow herself to be surprised. As they continued on, as every step inched them closer to their destined fight, she felt the anticipation building, the desire to fight, to release the built up energy that had been accumulated through her body. To feel her heart beat at the rhythm of battle.

More traveling and more silence for the most part within the group though the smiths started to speak up since the nearly week of traveling would be surely getting to them by now if not boredom could likely be setting in since Kaede was the closest to the group sat on the back of the carriage he tried to answer the smiths the best he could with the knowledge he had at hand, Kaede was a well-traveled man in his own right but not everything was known by him so he did his best if anything offering a conversation with the smiths to keep them entertained as much as possible. Kaede had begun to notice the vast amounts of birds around the area and the more they traveled the more birds began to flock around the area. Kaede could overhear the conversation happening between the two Kusa shinobi behind him, about it likely being a trap with the around there were, that Chisai's lion had alerted her.

This would be shortly afterward by a howl from one of his own summoned wolves scouting the rear. Within moments Ria would arrive from scouting to report to Kaede that she and her kin had spotted figures approaching from behind like they had been testing the caravan's defences. Kaede instructed his Ria to go back to scouting again and howl again if they approached from behind again or came charging. Giving Ria a quick pat on her fur before allowing her to move back into position, Would make Kaede jump from the back of the Caravan onto the ground before him. It looked like a battle was approaching the group and Kaede was ready for anything. I think we are being tested, they are either looking for blind spots or testing our defences. Looking for weak spots most likely then will likely attack when they have one." It was just something up to this point Kaede had observed and heard from the lion and his wolf alerting them. It seemed the enemy was testing them in what way was unclear, but something was coming. Likely missing ninja or some other threat.

Honō Yoshitaka

The continued travel was slowly ratcheting up their tension as things dragged out longer and longer. Yoshitaka up a calm and jovial persona throughout the journey, playing up the role of a civilian porter guiding the cart, tending to the animals, cooking the meals and cleaning up after everyone. When he was on watch, he made sure to seem like he was simply sleeping while taking the least dangerous portion of the night.

If they were being tested for a weakpoint as Kaede suggested, it was likely during these times that they would be attacked, and so Yoshitaka was particularly alert on watch while still appearing to be dozing uselessly.

With his armour hidden beneath layered robes and his head often covered by his straw hat he'd look like little more than a short, fat civilian who was only trusted to look out for the briefest times while the shinobi regained their strength. He hoped that this disguise would be enough to lull their watchers into a false sense of security, but he knew it wouldn't necessarily be the case.

Still, if it worked, then it would mean they underestimated the resistance they would face, and that would certainly benefit his team in the long run.

Why did he have to be hired on a mission with that man? No a better question would be why that bastard was on this mission, had they found him already? It had been six years since he had fled Kumogakure, the plague had simply taken too much from him. His poor children laid in earth and the village he swore would protect them had failed all of them. So with his person flock he had fled. His puppets began to march the distance though, the goal they had been hired for had been to prevent an establishing of resources to, what the noble had assumed, was a transaction of dangerous nature.

Akio had been doing dirty jobs to make a living out here since leaving and he wouldn't change this new life for a jail cell - not when his only crime was the desertion of grief and pain. He had kept his secrets to himself and he was paid well enough to live, to have more time to remember. A few handseals and the bird's flocking above the group seemed to continue to multiply from their distance. His other hand idly moving the members of his own wooden creations to fight the hired guards.

Age came to most in a dull ache here or a harder time to do anything, but for Hideo it had been exilarating. An axe-fighter unknown to the circles of the world as he had lived a wandering warrior's life. He had visited much, he had fought in two wars, and he had no regrets to the body trail behind him. A proper S-Rank Wannin. He was wanted nowhere, at least not on this side of the pond that people called a sea. However, despite his body seeming unbothered by age - an odd mutation he was starting to believe - he could still tell he was nearing death. Perhaps only a few weeks from now he would fall dead in an alley or within an inn. At the ripe age of 94 he had taken a last minute request, an insane thought brought to him in the midst of his brain.

He had been born in the Land of Fangs, a land that practiced axe-wielding primarily, or at least his village had. Holding his axes in hand, his worn weapons from over a hundred battlefields he smiled through his beard. Unlike his mission partner who covetted life, Hideo was here to search for death. These guards here would not likely ignore his attach and he need not do anything but prey they were strong enough. This would, with any luck, be his last battle.

The summons would have noticed and likely sounded out as the hulking old man that was Hideo approached, slowing as he got closer to bellow, "Hail Travelers, I do hate t' interupt your path, but I am afraid this be about as far as I can let ye go. Frankly don't much care for the formalities of a fight, but these weary bones o' mine won't last much longer. If'n you care I don't mind a good fight with just one of ye, but I will just as gladly take more. O'rwise I'm gonna need to kill ya all in the process. Think that's a fair way to put it, selfish it may be, but that's life for an oldy like me hahahaha."

The words came from a rather wide distance from the group still, and the hearty and warm voice betrayed much of the darker message - conflicting action and words with sentiment. Lightning crackled as his axes came alive, threatening someone, anyone, to approach. If no one did, Hideo would.

From overhead the murder caw'd loudly as they recieved the signal to dive as one. The back of the carraige being approached openly by two large wooden contraptions that none of the three shinobi could mistake as anything other then puppets.

The Lioness stopped at the sight of the man that interrupted their path. He was old, ancient even for the aspect that he bore, but still he had a strength about him that belittled the fact of his age. Part of her wondered if he could even wield the pair of axes that he had, part of her wondered the skill that he had. He had to have some of that to have survived this long and still stand there like if it he were an actual obstacle. The blonde thought about jumping ahead into battle, after all the trip had been boring, but she would rather wait, having the back of her kin and ally.

As the cries of the crows became more and more deafening she would lock eyes with the old man. It couldn't be that this was the only attempt the unseen enemy had amassed against them. No, the crows were behind it too. Or rather yet, whoever was behind the crows. "Yoshitaka... back me up will you." She said under her breath, loud enough for her cousin to listen to her as the very air that surrounded Chisai began to heat up and whatever vegetation existed began to wilt. "He is merely a distraction."

She trusted Kaede to understand the situation once it came, the cawing of the seemingly endless murder of crows and almost as if they were trying to quiet anything down. The lightning the coursed through the ancient worn weapons of a man that stopped their path. The Flame of the West draw in the warm air of the rice paddies, but she exhaled fire and ash. Her muscles tensed, and her heartbeat began to pick up, as she left a first searing step forward.

DESCRIPTION:
With the channeling of chakra through out the user's body their affinity for lava release circulates through the user. The user's skin begins to harden and fragment in scattered places lightly resembling molten rock with small red surface veins of lava separating the fragments Ref. With this activated the excellerated body heat causes the user's heart to pump faster, circulating blood faster. The result is that the user's natural quickness and agility is three times better than what is originally was, this helps the body move at a faster pace. Due to unaccustomed body conditions this technique taxes the user's stamina greatly, and draws deeply on their chakra pool. Overexertion and overuse can cause the technique to fail and the user to pass out from exhaustion.

Kaede's wolves had howled once more in the distance as they spotted contraptions heading for the back of the carriage with some advanced warning Kaede had a moment or two. With that, the man discarded his mask leaving it in the carriage. The loud sound of the crows above them certainly wasn't natural either so was likely an enemy technique of some kind, as they seemed to be multiplying all the time something that certainly wasn't natural. The crows would shift in the sky as they moved in the air and started to descend towards the back of the carriage the sound they made certainly made it easier to follow the movements. As they came in to attack Kaede formed five hand signs as Kaede released a large gust of wind from his mouth looking at the incoming crows within his line of sight above the carriage. As he was performing the wind jutsu which was powerful and likely to disrupt the crows enough, another howl would be heard from his wolves as they had returned closer to Kaede now, but also to warn him that two large wooden contraptions were approaching from behind the carriage.

Instead of waiting Garra one of the wolves he had summoned attempted its taijutsu technique from the side of the left contraption, while Ria the other wolf attempted to distract the right contraption with howling and growling at it. Ready to react and move if it attempted to attack back. The wolves Kaede had summoned with part of the hunter pack, so they knew how to work together almost seamlessly. Most often they didn't need to talk or communicate and worked as a hive mind. Kaede didn't know everything about his wolves but knew they had his back. If the contraptions would do another his wolves would warn Kaede with a howl and then Kaede would know an attack was coming his way, the good thing about having his wolves present. The wolves wouldn't stay idle either so wouldn't be easy targets for the wooden contraptions.

DESCRIPTION:
This is a relatively simple technique that creates a sudden gust of wind, but its scale varies greatly depending on the user. If used by a superior shinobi, it has enough destructive power to knock down a large tree. The wind from the squall can blow away all things in the user's line of sight. A variation of the technique involves a smaller blast of wind which gets ignited with flame.

Aimed at the incoming crows towards the carriage from above.

After the days of nothing, it was almost a relief for something to have happened. Yoshitaka himself maintained the air of an oblivious porter even as he kept his every sense alert at the multiplication of the birds and the figure that began to come towards them. As the old man got closer he stopped the cart and hopped down, a pleasant expression on his face as he folded his hands into the wide sleeves of his disguise's robe.

"Surely there is no need to fight?" he asked with a smile and an earnest expression, "perhaps you would like something to eat and a soothing cup of tea?"

From within his sleeves, the male Honō's hands rapidly slid through seals as stealthily as he could with the ease of long practice. While it was slower than if his hands were free, it would be difficult to notice unless one was looking for it. Six seals, a blink of an eye for someone as skilled at ninjutsu as him.

As if they had all been waiting for the signal, and in truth they had, the diving of the crows had all three shinobi taking action. The heat coming off Chisai's body, the wind from Kaede, and the attack from the wolves all happened simultaneously as Yoshitaka turned slightly to the side with a stomp completing Doton: Yomi no Te, a multitude of stone hands shooting out from beneath the old man with the axe and the two puppets, grasping at them and beginning to wrap around them with all the strength that he could put into them while not disrupting any attacks from his allies. If they could end this quickly, their charges would be far safer.

He doubted it'd work, but hopefully the surprise would give the others a chance to deal with their opponents more quickly.

Chakra Reserves
Like many of his clan, Yoshitaka has incredible chakra reserves, allowing him to perform many more jutsu than an average shinobi of his rank. With his level of skill, and his training, his reserves are high enough to throw around ninjutsu like other shinobi throw kunai.

Speed
Despite his relatively bulky frame, Yoshitaka is lightning fast even amongst Elite Jounin. Able to move far quicker than one would expect, he is capable of dancing across the battlefield to attack and defend.

Fast Handseals
Even amongst ninjutsu specialists Yoshitaka is quick to form handseals, his muscle memory and dexterity allowing him to rapidly move through the symbols and get jutsu off far faster than your average shinobi.

Elemental Master
As a ninjutsu specialist, Yoshitaka's ninjutsu are far more powerful than others without his focus, yet he has gone above and beyond this skillset when it comes to his use of Elemental Jutsu. Yoshitaka's elemental ninjutsu are significantly stronger than even those used by other ninjutsu sole specialists of his rank.

DESCRIPTION:

The user forms six hand seals before stomping their foot on the ground. Underneath their opponent sprouts a grouping of arms that reach up and pin the opponent to the ground. This jutsu can be used to subdue one person or if they pours more chakra into it, they can subdue a medium sized group (About ten to twenty), the hands can come from anywhere within sixty yards of the user. The stone hands are reinforced with the user's chakra and are insanely hard to break out of. The user has full control over the hands and can use them to hold their opponent fast or even squeeze said opponent to death if they want. If they chooses to kill their opponent the hands act much like boa constrictors, breaking the opponents bones and pressing them into the earth.

This was already a pain, even if he wasn't exactly worried from his vantage over a mile from the group. Puppetry was a power all its own when one learned the arts of it. Combined with his murder it was a potent duo. Though this lone masked shinobi was giving him some trouble on the later front. His crows blasted up and away with the real flock having adjusted to rise with the sudden gust, the clones in the murder popping as they were struck. The flock shrinking to only a third of its original size. Not wanting to waste more chakra then he needed to there, Akio would leave his crows on up high to leave his eyes in the sky.

With the puppets the mechanical amalgamations looked like a collection of dollfaces and limbs on a mostly awkward bodies if said body was the size of a large house. The main 'head' a massive crow head with an upturned beak, something Kaede would recognize from his time in the village as 'The Twin Crows' a rather massive duo of puppets that had been steered by one of the old War Council members of the village during the plague. An Elite Jounin who had disappeared shortly after the plague took his entire family.

A set of the dollheads opening on the wolves as kunai, shining with something upon them began to open fire on the two wolves engaging with the massive wooden puppets. The lack of a blind spot between the two clear as the massive canines engaged. When either of the wolves got in close to attack from one side or the other, the limbs would shoot out a plethora of unpleasant black and purple blades that looked absolutely drenched in something nasty.

Akio was not so lucky to react as immediately to the hands of earth from Yoshitaka, cursing from where he hid manipulating the strings as he would perform a few flicks of his hands. The maw of the crows opened and unleashing a screeching sound as the maws vomited out two more of the disturbing looking puppets. The four puppets now releasing increasingly fast attacks against the stone hands by primarily shifting the numerous sword limbs like picks being used by a super-charged miner, chipping at and breaking down the many hands.

The hearty laughter of the old man boomed in the air as the reaction he wanted was immediate. A touch short tempered were they? They was likely fine, he did want them to go all out, otherwise what was the fun? He had come here to either bleed them out or finally find his coffin. He had issued a true warrior's challenge, and clearly these two had been fans. Though their words were hurtful to a degree. Just the distraction was he? That would need correction. Not that he was complaining about the two on one he was now getting.

"Sadly friend, this bones o' mine likely won't last through a tea break again. And I heard that you know, calling an old man a distraction is rather rude," He would bellow back, his hearing something he was proud of he made no effort to hide it. He would die with his skills on display not hidden away. As the ground began to audibly shift for his hearing the old man began to run, boosting himself forward at a diagonal as the hands rose with some raiton technique. Hideo let one of the axes go in a spinning throw that only seemed to pick up speed as it raced in a curve not at Chisai, but Yoshitaka. The lighting on the blade growing into a spinning saucer of a saw around the already crackling axe that looked like it would cut the man, in half with ease.

The other primed for something as if he was waiting for a certain blonde to approach like she seemed to want to. If the axe missed completely it would curve and seem to move back to the man all on its own accord, the saw keeping the whole way.

The old man had not been idle as the two hono and sage had engaged the enemy. They would not be sitting ducks to simply get caught in the midst of this. Taking the reins he trusted that these three would do their job while he drove the oxen out of the way before the panicked and veered. This would soon be too much for the untrained labor animals. Hopefully they could keep the attackers at bay long enough for the cart to make it away.

She didn't care if the man before her was insulted by her opinion. As whilst a part of her appreciated that he would be attacking from the front, the rational part of her that dictated her sense of battle told her, that it was rare for anyone to announce themselves as he did. As she felt her blood boiling, heart pumping technique coursing through her, cracks emerged on her flesh, almost as if beneath the pale flesh rivers of lava coursed. Her eyes shining like bright coals, tracking the arc of the first of the twin axes, every impulse telling her that speed would carry her forward, her knees bending as she would move, attempting to rotate on her own axis away from the deadly arc of the weapon.

Chisai felt the tingle of the ionizing air from the lightning, hoping that her kin would be able to dodge as well as she had, her hands coming together as they would begin to weave a set of hand signs, eyes staring at the ancient man still standing, a weapon in hand which she quickly surmised it was a way to fend off any eager attacker. The Flame of the West drew in the hot air around her, her lungs filling in instance with oxygen, mixing with chakra as she would conclude her spin, eyes narrowing as she locked the target.

Full lips were pressed together and she released her breath. Pellets of flame and molten rock would fly, no bigger than the size of a small seed, but would begin to violently expand to the size of a head, burning the air like a cascade of comets that seared the air, as they did, the Lioness would bring hands together, forging a second set of seals in these opening stages of battle.

DESCRIPTION:
With the channeling of chakra through out the user's body their affinity for lava release circulates through the user. The user's skin begins to harden and fragment in scattered places lightly resembling molten rock with small red surface veins of lava separating the fragments Ref. With this activated the excellerated body heat causes the user's heart to pump faster, circulating blood faster. The result is that the user's natural quickness and agility is three times better than what is originally was, this helps the body move at a faster pace. Due to unaccustomed body conditions this technique taxes the user's stamina greatly, and draws deeply on their chakra pool. Overexertion and overuse can cause the technique to fail and the user to pass out from exhaustion.

DESCRIPTION:
Utilizing chakra in the feet, ankles and legs specifically. It is a small amount of energy, but used precisely on reflexes and timing. This technique is gauged this way. When timed, the user can twist themselves abruptly out of the way of an attack. Like a speedy side-step, but a rotation of one's body to the side. A spin-move. This is only attacks in an immediate vicinity(three meters) anything else is too big an attack. Usually Taijutsu, but sometimes this technique is effective against close-range ninjutsu.

DESCRIPTION:
The user expels a large amount of lava from their mouth, which quickly solidifies into dozens of boulders of molten rock that are fired towards the target with tremendous force. Due to their composition, the boulders can melt through most objects with ease, and because a considerable number are dispersed over a wide range in quick succession, they are also difficult to avoid.
