Mostly sporting some kind of simple and practical attire, designed to neither hinder his mobility nor attract any kind of attention, Toku stands at a whopping 5'7 feet tall and manages to intimidate almost every human between the ages of 4 and maybe 9, if the respective child is a scaredy-cat.
Seeing as his primary concern when roaming the country usually is to remain either unseen or at least overlooked, whatever fitting earth toned or black and inconspicuous clothes he can snatch away will most likely suffice his needs. He typically keeps a slouching posture with his hands either in his pockets or tied up with smoking. Some kind of hat or hood usually covers his head and only reveals his unexpectedly piercing eyes of a light grey color that always seem to keep a keen eye on the ANBU members surroundings.
The lanky man couldn't really care less for his appearance, rarely ever even taking a peak at himself in the mirror, and only bothers to shave or do some other kind of maintenance work, whenever someone mentions his extraordinarily strong body odor, his black unruly hair and beard start affecting his sight and food consumption or a mission is approaching.
As with most Shinobi, Toku needs to be comparably agile and quick on his feet, represented quite obviously in his wiry physique. One definitely wouldn't want to call him a strong man, but teasing him for his weakness wouldn't be stating the truth either. What he lacks in strength, the illusionary expert makes up for with his mobility and Genjutsu.
When entangled with ANBU missions, he’ll either sport your classic Kusagakure ANBU attire including the mask, or fall back to the aforementioned unostentatious clothing.

At first glance or upon passing Toku, most people do not even notice him or if they do, they will most likely have forgotten about him in a moment's time. That's all within Toku’s expectation, seeing as he usually likes to keep to himself rather than to work with other people. When left alone and with nothing to do, you'll find him either in nature or at some kind of quiet place enjoying the silence. Given his most recent change of lifestyle though, the fresh ANBU member necessarily has to come into contact with other humans, albeit only a select few.
Toku will most likely try to avoid any sort of actual interaction or conflict and reduce conversation to flattery and chit-chat, usually flipping the switch and spontaneously becoming a happy-go-lucky, flattering funny guy spitting empty phrases left and right.
People that got to know him better quite accurately call him a 'social ball of slime', indicating the Genjutsu specialist's ability to relatively easily read the room and adapt his behavior to all kinds of social situations. Quite counter-intuitive, given the aforementioned disinterest in genuine human connections, this.. rather devious set of skills and talent for con-mannery stems from his years of trying to survive by himself, and it sure does come in handy for a member of the ANBU.
While the effectiveness of that strategy heavily depends on his counterpart, talking and worming oneself out of a sticky situation or befuddling someone to the point of mental exhaustion are quite the useful skills in this line of work.
Equally a remnant of Toku’s slightly illicit past, hedonistic tendencies bordering on malicious narcissism provide the flip-side to the social skills of this amorphous blob. Toku surely isn’t above (ab)using his skills to alleviate a rich man’s burden of carrying one too many coins, or flirtatiously sweet-talking a desperate middle-aged wife into buying him an expensive drink or two. Maybe five? Who knows.
In fact, at some point he started enjoying the thrill and excitement of toying with people's perception, developing a taste for manipulation and trickery.
Since rejoining Kusagakure and being.. entrapped into the ranks of the ANBU, Toku’s inherent crippling fear of obviously stronger foes and adversaries has become a problem once more, being the ever so timid weasel he is when it comes to actual confrontation. That is, if he doesn't sniff out a chance to successfully scurry away, or an opportunity to make use of the situation arises.
He has a somewhat uneasy feeling most of the time and is weirdly compelled to move to another place as quickly as possible. This restlessness, stemming from both his blood family and chosen family disbanding and leaving him behind, constantly keeps him moving in search of whatever might fill that void. Along with this restlessness comes a deep, suppressed yearning for familial and friendship bonds, almost entirely inhibited by his dispositions however.
This yearning comes with benefits however, seeing as Toku can be surprisingly loyal once you have garnered certain status with him. Probably a left-over piece of personality from his early childhood days, this devotion to friendship and family works to overcome most of the aforementioned character traits. Well, given the circumstances at least.

Given Toku's rather recent inauguration into Kusagakure's ANBU ranks, traditionally speaking, his proficiency in the devious arts of assassination are still.. lackluster compared to his fellow masked shinobi.
Pairing what training he has already received with the skills he picked up during the years he spent worming his way around the country’s illicit and shady back alleys however, one might actually deem him pretty proficient an assassin though.
Toku’s techniques, strategy and tactics for achieving such a goal might be less of a method for Silent Killing per se, but adding his knack for Genjutsu on top of that, they indeed prove to be sufficiently stealthy.
In fact, his methods are one of the reasons the shinobi was scouted for the ANBU in the first place.
Control and Manipulation

While Toku’s inherent pool of chakra might be close to or maybe a tad below your average Shinobi, the Jounin’s ability to control said energy reserves rivals that of other great minds of their time.
His parents consciously fostering their child’s latent abilities laid the groundwork for his exceptional skills, additionally his own research and habitual usage of Genjutsu aided in strengthening his Enhanced Chakra Control.
Nowadays, this level of proficiency in wielding Chakra is much more than just necessary, seeing as it provides the basis for most of the Maboroshi’s strategies and con-mannery.

Save for his affinity for tricking enemies and adversaries, Toku doesn’t really have a knack for hands-on confrontation. As such, it has become one of his most prevalent goals to avoid targets of his illusions breaking their mental cages and well.. attacking him. Instead of increasing his combat potential in other areas of the Shinobi skill set however, the sly weasel has honed in on the one aspect he already excels at.
By now, placing enemies in a set of Lingering Genjutsu, while still pretty taxing chakra and concentration wise, has become second nature to the Maboroshi.
He had to rely on this technique rather often, both in his days away from Kusagakure and ever since he rejoined the village. Especially if he is confronted with adversaries he’d consider capable of easily breaking his Genjutsu, he will resort to this skill of his.

Granted you’re perusing the corresponding ‘social’ circles, you would come to consider con-mannery the highest of art forms. Well, to effortlessly achieve such lofty goals in the highly competitive field of.. really just being an asshole, Layering Genjutsu sure does come in handy. How else would you make a piece of scrap metal seem like a most beautifully crafted sword?
Toku has had a natural affinity for Genjutsu ever since he can remember, weaving multiple Genjutsu together was quite the difficult expansion on that at first, but in trying to survive on his own, he has honed in on this skill to a point of it being second nature.
Layered Genjutsu can only effect each sense with one impairment. The newest genjutsu's impairment will overlay the previous if there happen to be two of the same. (You can't have two sight genjutsu working at the same time) Layered Genjutsu is able to be broken by Kai'ing the lowest ranked jutsu out of the layer.
Limitations are as follows:
- Soles can layer S ranks and below
- Primaries can layer B ranks and below. Can only layer 3 jutsu max.
- Secondaries can layer C ranks and below. Can only layer 3 jutsu max.
