[Oborozuki Yuri]

It's the dead of winter and the compound is cold, but warmer than the streets. Yuri spends some nights here, especially when it's snowing, but she tries to slip in and out without interaction. Today, fate is unkind, and as she's leaving the dinner hall with her finished breakfast she runs into one of the elders. She smiles, bends down to kiss Yuri's head, asks how she has been. Yuri mumbles something, and the elder feigns affection, cooing. Then comes an ask. "You are out and about more often than I, and I'm sure you've seen plenty of the village to know - does young Sei still live with her father?" Yuri shrugs, pretends like she doesn't know anything about the Oborozuki outcast and his poor daughter. "Be a dearie and check in on her, yes? We have tried many times to reach her, but..."

Conditioning. Yuri gets it. She nods. "Sure."

What else is she gonna do with the day? Pester Midori for more sparring?

It actually takes a while to track her down in the records. Very little is known about her, aside from an abusive father and an inability to reach out to her properly. Yuri feels a little weird about it then; what is she supposed to do? Be different somehow? Not get the door slammed in her face when she tells her where she's from? But what else can she do, lest Sei catches a stalking genin? Questions riddle her head and briefly she considers giving up on this dumb endeavor, but she's already walked halfway across the village toward her distant cousin's residence.

Well, it can't hurt to try.

Yuri steps up to the front door and very plainly gives a knock. While she's waiting, she steps back, hands in her pockets with a bored expression as she sweeps her gaze around, fingers itching for a cigarette.

Death's Kiss

Kei had gone out for the day leaving Sei home alone. She stood on the back porch smoking a cigarette putting it out halfway. As she made her way back inside she stopped looking at the door. It was almost that time of the month that the Oborozuki normally sent someone by to harass her. She could not understand why they would not leave her alone. She had seen the "Generosity" of her clan, her father would graciously send her to kill or be killed. She made her way over to the sink letting the cold water run before splashing her face. As she picked up a small wash cloth to dry her hands and face a knock came at the door. Sei's heart began to race, who was there, why were they here. The duality of her profession as an assassin compared to the timid nature she had in the safety of her own walls would be a therapists wet dream. She looked around waiting for Kei to come before remembering he was gone. Slowly she made her way to the door peeking a look outside. She saw a young girl standing there like she had something better to do. It did not look like anyone from the Oborozuki elders maybe this time it was okay. Sei unlocked the door cracking it open before peering outside. "Hello, what do you want?"

It takes a moment, but then the door is cracking ajar and a pretty face is poking just barely out to ask very bluntly what it is that Yuri wants. The young girl, in the moment, suddenly falters - what can she say that will make Sei listen, if not only for a moment? She wants to be truthful, but she doesn't want to scare the woman off - nor does she want to lie.

Oh, well. Better to be honest.

Why is she doing this again?

"Sorry to bother," Yuri says plainly, sticking her hands in her front pocket. Her eyes roam a little, almost afraid to make direct eye contact. Treating Sei like a fawn. "Are you Sei? Brown eyes search the pretty face, still careful not to linger on her eyes too long. Yuri taps her toes against the porch, continuing with her bored voice, but there is a hint of sincerity here. "I think we're cousins, I dunno. I'm sick of the compound and the elders, but, er," not a lie. Her face twists up with thought, looking away again. "Sorry again to, er, bother you, but..." Finally, her eyes flick to Sei's, barely exposed behind the cracked door. "Can we talk?"

Through the crack in the door Sei looked over the red haired girl. She seemed nervous or bored to be here, it puzzled her more. "Yes I am Oborozuki Sei." The girl shuffled about before being as blunt as anyone Sei had ever met. She was also an Oborozuki, had the elders sent her here to talk to her. To make her let her guard down, no she had confessed some kind of frustration with them as well. When the girl expressed the need to talk to Sei it took her a moment to respond. She looked the girl over once more before closing the door. Sei unlatched the chain lock reopening the door moving aside to let her visitor in. Her home was quaint, sparse furniture lay about the small dwelling. As Yuri would step in she would see most of the place. Most of the area was taken up with one room, a living and dining room area. A small table with two chairs, couch and coffee table before it. The kitchen off to the left, off to the right a single door leading into her and Kei's room. Closing the door and relocking it minus the chain for Kei to know when he returned they had company. She moved passed the couch to the back wall, a sheer pane of glass with a sliding door in the middle. She stepped out motioning for the girl to follow. Outside was different, where inside was clean and almost looked set up to seem fake. Outside was much different, the patio had two nice cushioned chairs set on either side of a fire pit. Each chair had a small table beside it, on one an ashtray with multiple cigarette butts in it. Sei sat in that chair pulling a pack out of her pocket and lighting the rolled tobacco after placing it between her lips. She took a long drag exhaling the smoke with a deep sigh. "Lets start with you name, what is it?" She took another drag as the girl spoke cutting her off with her lungs still full of smoke. "Why are you here?" She exhaled looking over to the decently sized reptile house of Kei's. She really wished he was here right now so she did not feel so alone.

Sei is short and to the point, and when the door closes Yuri thinks that's the end of their interaction. Her brown eyes roam, and then the door is opening, wider now, and she's allowed entry. She steps inside, trying not to gawk at the sparse interior. Her eyes travel immediately to the sliding glass door, peering out into the glimpse of their backyard. It's cozy here, if not plain, and Yuri can't say that she wouldn't like a place like this of her own. It beats sleeping outside, which Yuri is far too familiar with.

They don't linger in the home itself for long, instead walking out that sliding glass door Yuri had been watching. When they come out and Sei sits, lighting up a cigarette, Yuri stands there semi-awkwardly. At the very least, she takes the smoke as an invitation to light her own - so she produces a pack from her back pocket. One is hanging unlit from her lips as Sei asks who she is before pulling from her own stick. "Yuri-" She barely gets the word out before Sei speaks again, smoke still zeroing her lungs.

This time, Yuri is not as quick to answer. Her expression does not shift, but she takes a second to light her cigarette and take a drag. Replacing the lighter to the pack and thus the pack to her back pocket, she exhales before finally answering. "Few reasons. Old lady asked me to check on you, but I've heard about you for years." Another drag. She watches the cloud billow into the sky, careful not to stare too much but also not to avoid eye contact feverishly. If anything, the teenager comes off as bored - but there is some anxiety about her. "I kinda... I dunno, envy you? Well..." Yuri looks at Sei wholly, not sure of how to word it. "Not all of you. Just that you're free from the family."

She looks wayward. Another pull from her cigarette.

So Yuri was in a sense sent by the clan however this seemed to Sei something deeper. There was something in the way Yuri spoke that made her feel not so defensive. She watched the red head stand there as if she did not want to be there. Her eyes shifting to Sei and back around to random spots showed her something else. Sei was good at reading people, she needed to be with what she had to do. When Yuri said she envied parts of her she knew what she meant. Pulling her legs up she rested her chin on her knees, the things she had to do she would not envy herself. As Yuri finished speaking Sei sat there unmoving as if frozen in her own thoughts. She motioned for the young Oborozuki to take the seat across from her. Her cigarette hung between her fingers burning up by her side as she looked for the words to respond. "So what do you know?" Her voice was smooth, even scared or nervous she had mastered how to act calm. The men she killed did not like their toys scared at the start. "Do you know of 'Death's Kiss' Yuri... Or outcast pariah?" Finally she put the burning coping mechanism into the ash tray by her side. "Only one person who resides at this place is worthy of envy and he is not here. My freedom comes at a cost no child should have had to pay!" She realized her mask of calm had slipped, she sat there, her breathing heavy before regaining her composure. She had not meant to snap at the girl, she had not meant to be so open. Why was she still sitting here entertaining this guest, there was no need. Something pulled at Sei deep inside her, something seeking a connection to the family she feared.
