"In the realm of martial arts, only speed reigns unbroken." This renowned saying echoed through the annals of the shinobi world for centuries, retaining its relevance to this day. While formidable defences can be breached and potent offences can be thwarted, speed remains unmatched. Granted, there were techniques to counter speed in real life, but the essence of the statement remained true. Swift agility was too great to ignore, as it simply opened up more opportunities in both offence and defence.

Shō, the young blue-haired Gure shinobi recently found himself captivated by the concept of speed. During a recent infiltration mission, he narrowly avoided detection by a surprise patrol. His below average speed would have surely led to his capture if not for the timely intervention of another hunter-nin distracting the guard.

Although he emerged from the mission unscathed through his signature move Ikō, the near-failure prompted him to reconsider embarking on further missions. Recognising his sluggishness as the root cause, the young man resolved to refine this weakness before undertaking any new assignments.

No matter how impeccable your training regimen may be, it would amount to naught without consistency. Shō couldn't recall the exact source of this wisdom, but it resonated deeply with him. "Success is 1% talent, 99% hard work." While perhaps slightly exaggerated, it was an undeniable truth that talent alone cannot guarantee success.

And even then, he would push himself to do more after an off day.

Instead of heading to the familiar training grounds within the village, Shō made his way to the expansive green field just slightly outside the village gate. Here, he found the freedom to train as he pleased, unrestricted by any rules or limitations of the training ground. While the woods presented numerous obstacles and hazards, rendering it an unpopular choice for training, Shō's approach to training differed, allowing him to bypass these typical limitations.

His focus was solely on refining the Ikō technique, the staple of his clan’s kekkei genkai, which involved merging with nature and travelling along it seamlessly. His objective today was to improve the technique's speed. In this case, the dense foliage and natural hazards posed no hindrance to him, as he would be travelling underground throughout the training session. He wouldn’t be at risk unless there was a landmine or something similar underneath.

He deliberately incorporated challenges that would test his skills to the limit, they were far more demanding, with obstacles strategically positioned along the way, compelling him to navigate sharp turns and unexpected hurdles.

Recalling the lessons from his mathematical lessons, he understood the inherent difficulty of curved routes compared to straight ones. A straight path typically allowed for faster traversal while the sharp turns due to curved paths always led to a significant decrease in speed. It was a difficult path, but it was exactly why it was important to overcome such obstacles, knowing that doing so would ultimately enhance his speed and agility.

Over the course of the next month, Gure committed himself to intensifying his training, progressively elevating the difficulty level. He only relented when he sensed a stagnation in his progress. "Seems like it's time to put my skills to the test…" he mused, knowing that training was no longer enough, it was time for some missions!
