[Ōshi Shigeru]

Shimako didn’t always have time for her apprentice, busy as the woman was. Shigeru was fine with that, for the most part. He’d been largely self-sufficient for a while already, and he didn’t necessarily need her to hold his hand for everything. Sage training was the only thing he absolutely could not and would not do without the woman. Her warning had imprinted itself clearly into his mind, and he had no desire to turn into stone because he thought he could play with nature chakra. No, he had no intention of dying stupidly because he wouldn’t listen to his sensei.

While his sensei wasn’t able to directly teach him often, she still looked out for him, and that much was very appreciated. Today was only one such example of it. While she was unable to supervise herself, he was to meet up with another she’d been teaching, presumably for the two genin to have a sparring partner closer to their own age. Shigeru could appreciate that. After all, he was somewhat on the older end for a genin, and heaven knew he wasn’t the most comfortable sparring kids half his age, genin or not. 

Reaching the designated training ground with his equipment scroll at his back, the genin looked around. Nobody there, yet, but that only meant he had time to prepare before meeting up with this "Miori” his sensei had told him about. Seeing this, Shigeru did just that, unfurling his scroll and pulling out his equipment. Kazaha and Konpekiha came first, but he also checked his weapon pouches, making sure everything was in them. A brief inspection showed everything was there, leading to an approving nod from the boy with the long blue hair. 

Next, he spent some time working on polishing his weapons, caring for both swords with a sort of meticulousness borne of practice.
