Rebuilding the village and fixing any buildings for the village was an arduous ordeal and sometimes it even required the destruction of buildings. This was given as a mission option for some shinobi to let off some steam while also doing what they could to help the village grow. So it was a win-win scenario for Ryouta to be able to punch things and let his frustration out without hurting anyone. Yet at the same time, he wasn't sure how he felt about whom he was paired up for this mission. While he enjoyed their interaction last time he couldn't say the same for her as he probably made a mockery of them in their little spar. Oh well, it wasn't like people didn't go on missions with people they didn't like before so it was par for the course anyways.[break][break]

The meeting point would be a worn-down building that was to be demolished to make way for some new housing units. It wasn't in the most disrepair of any of the nearby buildings, but its original function didn't fit in with the plans for the area in fact the buildings to both sides of it would also be a part of a destruction process so it wasn't like any of them were going to be kept either so any damage they took from this buildings destruction was permitted. Leaning on the building Ryouta would await his partner for the mission hoping they were ready to let off some steam.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me,” The exasperated exclamation that left Ameko’s mouth had nothing in the way of tact or subtlety.

She had taken the mission in hopes of getting a bit more experience in the lead up to the chunin exams, even if it meant that she was doing glorified grunt work in cleaning up the village. Sure, she’d rather have been engaged in combat, or some kind of drill, but a mission was a mission. She had to prove to herself, to those who would be looking over her progress, that she was willing to undertake anything that was thrown toward her.

Ameko, however, did not know she had to be dealing with fuckign Ryouta. The smarmy prick was about as smug as it got, and she’d be spending the day working with him. Part of her longed for death. The other part of her resolved to just take out her anger on the older genin.

He was leaning on the building that served as their meeting point, and any hope that her true partner was simply somewhere else died immediately. There was no point in hoping for the inevitable. This would be the absolute last time she took a mission without bothering to read all the details as to the mission and her partners beforehand.

"Sorry to keep you waiting,” She didn’t mean it.

His partner would arrive and Ryouta could sense the hostility from the get-go. He couldn't blame her though so he didn't take it to heart, but he wasn't about to let it go either. Placing a hand on his side he would respond with, "We both know you don't mean that, but that's beside the point this is a good opportunity for both of us to let off some steam." Ryouta would point at the building behind him before adding, "We have been permitted to destroy this however we want so punch some walls knock down some pillars tackle some support beams whatever you want we are given full run of this place." [break][break]

This would honestly put a smile on Ryouta's face as he came up with a fun idea for the two of them to enjoy this mission together. "So let's make this a fun competition then. Whoever can destroy the most and knock this building down the fastest while also escaping the collapsing building wins." Ryouta would tighten his gloves to make sure they were snug before tilting his head towards Ameko and challenging her, "Unless you don't think you have the strength to do so." In all honesty, based on their spar he was very certain she could easily win this competition, but he figured she would enjoy it more if she was fighting for a cause rather than simply breaking things for no reason.

A singular eyebrow raised, but Ameko did not dignify Ryouta with a response. He knew that she didn’t mean it, but she didn’t feel the need to give him the satisfaction of knowing he was right. Regardless, at least the mission sounded enjoyable. Despite her distaste for her fellow shinobi, she had to admit that he was certainly able to sell the idea of a bit of demolition as exciting and fun. Sure, the job was mostly busywork, but it was the destruction of buildings. Moreover, he wanted to make it into a competition. She knew the bugger was quick, but she doubted his lithe frame carried enough muscle to put a sizeable dent into anything. Sure, he likely had some sort of trick up his sleeve, but Ameko was confident in her ability to unleash raw destruction.

But it was his final words that spurred her into action. She knew it was bait, she knew he had every intention of getting her to bite and to take him up on the offer. That meant that, logically, he probably had something to back up his boastfulness. Ameko simply didn’t care.

She approached the building, clenched her fist, summoned her comparatively Enhanced Strength and punched a hole straight through the wall. It hurt, it hurt like absolute hell, and she could feel the shaking reverberating through her knuckles and her wrist. But she forced her face to be a mask of cocky serenity.

A wolfish smile was shot toward the older man, as she shook her hand, ostensibly of debris, "You’re on. I’ll show you ‘strength’.”

Hook line and sinker. His bait caught hold and she seemed to agree to his little friendly competition. She was so easy to manipulate being controlled by her emotions just meant she would be easy to toy with for his benefit. Granted despite this he wouldn't do anything to harm her as it wasn't within his bones to harm someone with manipulation tactics or make them feel inferior. Rather he just liked pushing people's buttons to show him what they could do and so far it was working on her.[break][break]

He would of course admit the amount of destruction she put out was more than he expected, but then again it was why he dodged most of her attacks during their little sparring session. He had a feeling she favored full brute strength over mobility so this was easily her element of doing things, but to get an actual visual of what he had to deal with certainly made things a bit more real. [break][break]

Still, she wasn't the only one with tricks up her sleeve. "Not bad," Ryouta would say with a smile giving her a sense of superiority for her strength. Lifting his hand and making sure his gloves were tightened correctly he would add, "Guess I should show what I can do too." Facing the wall he would take a deep breath unlock the first gate and punch the wall himself. It would also create a hole in the wall though granted not as big as one she made and of course, he had to shake his hand from the recoil of the attack. "You aren't the only one with the strength to spare though," Ryouta would say looking back to Ameko with a slightly smug smile. Granted he knew he wouldn't be able to do this very often probably compared to her as using the gates tired one out quickly, but it would show he wasn't about to fall behind her that easily.

The arrogant smirk that plastered Ameko’s face was wiped out in a moment. She had expected the older shinobi to be a specialist in speed, hit and run tactics, that kind of thing. She’d not predicted him having the ability to match her in strength. A bewildered look would be her response to the hole he put in the wall, before she rapidly forced her face back to a mask of smug cockiness.

"And here I thought you were just good at running away,” Ameko spoke through a wolfish smile, rolling her neck as she did so, a series of pops echoing off the dilapidated buildings around them.

"Fine, want to make this a competition then,” She added, stretching her arms out to limber up, "Let’s make it interesting. I thought I was just about to mop the floor with you but if you can actually keep up, let’s make a wager. Loser has to shout food, kami only knows I’m going to be hungry after I tear down this building just about on my lonesome."

She shook her hand out, before clenching it back into a fist. Ryouta was quick, no doubt he’d use that to his advantage. And, evidently, he was also a taijutsu specialist. This would be a test of fists against fist. Fortunately, Ameko did not need to rely on just those to do damage.

Ryouta couldn't help but smile at her reaction and it was a genuine smile too. He loved surprising people with his abilities and it had done just the thing he sought out for. "Can't always run away from my problems sometimes I got to be able to attack too otherwise I might not have the stamina to keep up with some of you younger shinobi," Ryouta would say quite frankly because he was starting to get their age for a shinobi. Sure he wasn't decrepit or anything, but for a shinobi, he was reaching past his prime and it was only downhill from here on out physically if he didn't keep his training up. [break][break]

She agreed to his competition and put a bet on the line which sort of worried Ryouta a bit, but he also didn't mind possibly losing this bet. His strength had a timer and while he might be able to keep up with her for a bit of time it was probably gonna be a guarantee she would win. Yet he wasn't going to let her think he was going to give up super easily too as it seemed her drive was something she prided in. So he smiled and said, "Don't come whining if you lose." A simple taunt to keep her in the mood, but he was happy to see she was going to enjoy herself.

"Whine?” Ameko responded, her face splitting into an irritatingly cocky smile, "Don’t confuse me for my hyenas, buddy, I don’t whine.” She rolled her neck again, a series of cracks and pops echoing through the dilapidated ruins in which they found themselves, "‘Cos I never lose.”

She erupted with energy and movement all at once, not wanting to let her mission partner slash opponent get the drop on her. She unleashed her body with reckless abandon, thrusting herself at the wall with all the strength she could muster. Ameko had always been strong for her age, but practice as a shinobi had only served to enforce such strength. Each part of her body had become a tool, and she utilised them as such against the wall. Stone and brick were shattered as fists, knees and elbows thrust forward. She was not foolish enough to use her head or her teeth, but the remainder of her body was used as a makeshift demolition crew.

It hurt, each blow did, she could not doubt that. But she filed away that pain for the moment. The grazes and the bruises could be ignored for the moment. Instead, she focused her attention on tearing down the wall nearest to them. With luck, it would be structural, and that meant a collapse of the upper floors and the roof. Like hunting, take out the legs, and the rest would topple.

He was honestly having a lot of fun with this. Sure he was cynical at times and often a bit cocky towards people, but it was mostly always in jest. He just enjoyed people's reactions and it made for fun scenarios when they put their heart and soul into things and this was one of those situations he thoroughly enjoyed. "Be sure to keep that confidence then should you ever actually do lose," Ryouta would comment back to Ameko's comment about not losing. This wasn't about the current battle, but more of a general statement as no one could ever possibly not lose especially with how the chunin exams were involved. So hopefully it would be a lesson they could learn sooner rather than later where it might be more detrimental to their psyche.[break][break]

Ameko would be going full force on trying to topple the building as quickly as possible and Ryouta couldn't blame her. She wanted to win and taking out the part of the structure that held everything together was a wise way of going about it, but Ryouta wasn't about to let her have all the fun. So he would follow along with her actions aiming for pillars that helped support the building. Each hit brings pain and strain upon his muscles that he chooses to ignore for now. A side effect of the gates he knew he would have to deal with later.

Ryouta matched her strategy, attacking the pillars with brute force of his own. Despite what appeared to be a relatively lanky appearance, he truly did have a certain strength hidden within. Rather begrudgingly, she had to respect the skill of the older genin, at least as far as the matters of raw strength were concerned. And that was, of course, the most important matter of all. But regardless of the skill of her opponent, Ameko had little intention of losing their bet. After all, she had declared that she never lost, and she sure wasn’t going to allow herself to be made a liar within moments of such a declaration.

Taking advantage of an exposed part of the ruin, she moved into the building itself, attacking from within.

Gritting her teeth, she focused on her muscles, and struck out with increased speed and violence. Each limb was used as a makeshift hammer, her bones rattled with each blow as technique and safety were cast aside in favour of the efficacy of destruction. Was it an absolutely foolish thing to do when you were engaging in what should have been a rather straightforward endeavour? Yes, most assuredly. But Ameko did not care.

Her arms struck out, and her focus turned entirely to the pillars in front of her, Ryouta was forgotten, and for a time being, so too was the building. It creaked and shuddered, the bricks and mortar shifting as the two genin tore it apart. Yet, Ameko remained none the wiser, he focus on the demolition alone.

Despite Ryouta wanting to match Ameko's force and aggression in this whole destructive nature he couldn't full well do that exactly. With each hit his bones practically rattled and he knew if he kept this up for too long it would be disastrous for him later so he began slowing down when he lost track of Ameko. Stomping his foot on the ground Ryouta would begin using one of his ninjutsu techniques. Sculpting the ground below him he created a pair of knuckle dusters that he equipped to his hands and began pummeling at walls and pillars. These weren't as effective as using his gates, but it would save him precious energy and resources if things went bad.[break][break]

After a bit of time, the building was beginning to show signs of collapse and this meant it was probably about time for them to get out before it caved in on them. Stopping his attack he would shout out to Ameko and say, "The buildings coming down get out while you still can!" Looking around he saw a broken window and jumped out of the building landing on the ground outside. He would then sprint towards the front of the building and would wait for Ameko to join him while the building began collapsing.

It hurt, but Ameko did her best to ignore that pain. It was just like working out really, force yourself through the pain and you could achieve many great things. At least, that was what she told herself. Mind over matter, turn one’s body into a weapon, a tool to be wielded by instinct and the mind. That mantra played over and over again in her head, the reality of her situation ignored as she focused on her internal being. The sounds of shifting stones and creaking concrete did not reach her, not until a voice did.

It broke through the fog, a call, a warning. The building was coming down.

All at once, Ameko found herself out of her destructive trance, and back in the reality of the situation. She ached, she and she was certain that she’d done more than just graze her knees and knuckles. Turning her head rapidly from side to side, she tried to find some form of escape. But dust had arisen from their shared work. Panic set in as she ran to what she knew to be at least one of the external-facing walls.

It was without grace, without style nor a plan that she found a window, long since shattered, and straining under the weight of the building, and she dived out of it.

She hit the ground with a thud, an awkward landing that saw her shoulder screaming at her in pain as she jarred it.

Through panting breaths she complained loudly to both herself and Ryouta, "Dammit. Ah damn. Hurts.” She hissed.

Maybe it wasn’t the smartest of her ideas after all.

The building collapsing was getting a bit too dangerous as the seconds ticked by Ameko hadn't escaped and Ryouta was getting a little worried. Sure he initiated the challenge to make this mission a fun game between them, but he was certain the two of them were safe enough not to get too injured in the ordeal. Did he miscalculate? He was getting worried for Ameko to the point he was almost ready to bust right back into the building to rescue her when she came bursting out of a window nearby. She landed a bit ungracefully, but she wasn't trapped so that was something.[break][break]

Rushing over to her to make sure she was ok he would ask, "Are you ok?" She wasn't from the way she complained about her shoulder. How he wished he knew medical ninjutsu to help her out, but sadly he was just a taijutsu user with a few ninjutsu abilities. Trying to make her feel better though he would say, "Well I think you win this match." Ryouta would look back at the rubble of the crumbling buildings and add, "Maybe we shouldn't have put ourselves in such danger while doing this mission." Reaching a hand out he would ask, "Do you think you can stand?" A softer side to him was more visible as he felt a bit responsible for her injuries.

"I'm fine, I'm fine,” Ameko grumbled, grabbing at her sore shoulder with her free hand. And she was, for the most part, the damage done was hardly permanent. After a bit of time and a bit of rest, she'd be fine. Of course, the fact that she'd been throwing her body with reckless abandon at walls had rendered her more injured than she'd have been otherwise. But such was the way of things. Especially given what Ryouta said next.

"Damn right, I win,” She smirked up at her fellow ninja, an utterly cock smile, teeth bared in a way that did not betray the pain that throbbed throughout her body.

"And you're only saying that ‘cos I won. We got the job done, building went boom,” She grunted and forced herself to sit upright, "Not worth going half-arsed is it?”

Ameko groaned and chuckled, the rest of her body hurting more than her shoulder. Ok, maybe it wasn't the most intelligent plan to use her body as a sledgehammer. The kunoichi was certain she'd be utterly hurting the next morning.

"Yeah, I can stand, I ain't too hurt, just aching a tad,” She extended a hand, "Help me up, will ya?”

"Good," Ryouta said feeling a bit of relief to find Ameko not seriously injured. It wouldn't do well for them to have gotten badly injured from such a simple mission. It might make them look bad if they came back from it too beat up from a simple demolition mission. But he had to admit he was glad she still kept her gusto on winning their little match. He couldn't help but laugh a bit at her reaction to winning. "Can't say I'm surprised though," Shaking his head at her comment cause honestly she was the stronger one of the two he just barely kept up at times.[break][break]

When she asked for his help to stand he couldn't help and lend out a hand to her. Normally he wouldn't, but he was wearing clothes that would make sure he didn't make full skin contact with her so he wasn't worried about his abilities activating from helping her. As she got up he would add, "Alright once we finish our report let's get you some barbecue. After all, I did agree to shout you some food if you won." Ryouta gave her another smile as the two of them headed back to the mission office to report the completion of their mission.
