As the first light of day began to illuminate Sunagakure, Eiji found himself within the training grounds. The ambient chorus of awakening birds and the soft footsteps of other shinobi pursuing their own dawn rituals lent the morning an air of communal dedication. Claiming a quiet corner for himself, Eiji prepared for his own training. Others had already begun their own and quickly the morning peace had broken. [break][break]

His objective for the day was clear: to push his chakra reserves to their limit. Such an endeavour, while essential, came with the cost of rendering him spent for the remainder of the day. Being useless was not something he enjoyed. His arsenal of jutsu was limited, simplifying and quickening the task. Perhaps a morning nap would reenergize him for the remainder of the day. [break][break]

The monotony of repetitive training held little appeal for Eiji, accustomed as he was to the dynamic and multifaceted approach he experienced growing up. The idea of honing a single aspect of his abilities felt foreign, almost antithetical to the holistic growth he experienced in the vast expanses of the desert. Many things here seemed antithetical. However, he would remain focused on the single task at hand. [break][break]

As Eiji readied himself to practice the techniques from the academy he had learned. These jutsu had a great, simple value he had not considered before, useful for even his branch of the clan. His people prized the ability to thrive independently from the structured societies of the shinobi world, viewing such self-sufficiency as a mark of true honour. Yet, Eiji was beginning to see the wisdom in blending these new skills with the old ways. [break][break]

Choosing to start with the transformation technique, Eiji recognized its potential for versatility. Altering one’s appearance was invaluable, deceiving even the keenest of desert creatures.[break][break]

With focused intent, he began the sequence of hand seals. Although the movements were still unfamiliar and his fingers fumbled slightly, he executed each seal with deliberate care. The transformation took hold, and Eiji's form shifted, his features morphing into those of an old woman, reminiscent of the Wise One back in his home.[break][break]


His new appearance bore the deep lines of age, akin to a desert plum wrinkled by the relentless sun. His hair turned a striking white, nearly long enough to brush the sands at his feet, and his robes shifted to the hues of the desert, enabling him to blend seamlessly with the environment.

After performing the necessary hand seals, the user transforms their appearance to become that of another person, animal or even an inanimate object. This is considered one of the most advanced academy techniques, as it requires a constant emission of chakra as well as a constant mental focus to maintain the technique; suffering moderate pain or severe distractions will cause the technique to falter. [break][break]

Shinobi are limited to transforming into objects roughly their size and their mass remains unaffected. Furthermore, this transformation is purely a shift in their physical appearance, conveying no specialized abilities of the person, animal, or object to the user upon their transformation. Transforming into a wolf does not grant a more keen nose nor would changing into a bear grant a sudden increase in strength.

As Eiji assumed the guise of a Wise Woman, he prepared himself for the practice ahead. Maintaining the illusion required a continuous drain on his chakra, a challenge for one who rarely used much chakra before. Such endurance was unfamiliar to him; only recently had he begun engaging in techniques that demanded constant energy in this manner. It was a reminder of his lack of skills in the shinobi arts. It would require resilience and adaptation to surpass his peers. But these were traits that were ingrained in the Aiel. [break][break]

Casting aside any doubts, Eiji concentrated on the task before him, his hands fumbling through the intricate hand seals necessary for the clone technique. This was a skill he was more acquainted with, and creating duplicates of his elderly form proved less daunting. As the first and then a second clone appeared beside him, the sight of three aged women on the training field might have seemed comical to some. Yet, for Eiji, it was not out of the ordinary. Even in old age, his people continued to train, their spirits as sharp as their spears. Strength and skill were revered, and training was a lifelong commitment, regardless of one’s age. So the image of elderly warriors was not just common but respected.
