Amidst the crowd returning home from a long day of work, Sukikyo, made his way through the bustle. His expression was very serious today, a huge contrast from the playful grin that usually graced his face.

Sukikyo had a specific purpose today, one that had him weaving through the crowds faster than usual. He was on his way to find Ouritsu, the talented genjutsu-wielding chūnin he had recently gone on a mission with. The genin had gotten the idea in his head that the older shinobi might be able to help him with his latest issue and was determined to find him.

The young shinobi's mind was plagued with thoughts of his recent struggles with his determination to learn how to control the Eight Gates. His prowess in close quarters combat was notable among his peers, but Sukikyo felt he could become even better at it with the mythical technique in his repertoire. However, it required understanding of how chakra flow worked, something he had always been terrible at and something that Ouritsu could potentially help with.

As he approached the outskirts of the village, near the towering rock formations, Sukikyo slowed his pace. This was where Ouritsu was rumored to last have been seen. The air grew cooler, and the sounds of the village faded into a serene silence, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves skittering across stone.

"Ouritsu-saaaan! Are you around here!? I have a favor to ask you!" he shouted into the area, voice echoing off the rock towers.

Kyo paused, scanning the area. There was no sign of Ouritsu yet, but the place was big, so he had some searching to do. Taking a deep breath, Sukikyo stepped forward, his eyes alert and his senses heightened, ready to spot the elder shinobi or any sign of his recent presence.

It wouldn't take long for Sukikyo to find the area Ouritsu was training in and it would become clear from the oddly shaped rock formations that the man had been working on his jinton this far out from the village. Large chunks of stone were missing from the various rock formations, but not from explosions or anything of the sort, it was all perfectly angled like someone had thrown a cube shaped eraser around and it just started deleting things. The finality of jinton was why the Nohime had chosen to practice so far away from the village proper: to avoid anything or anyone getting caught in the crossfire.

Hearing a yell prompted the chunin to drop his stance and look back, eventually seeing the familiar genin come into view. Wiping the sweat from his brow Ouritsu straightened his posture as he wondered what could have had the Yutakako looking for him all the way out here. "Long time no see." He answered jokingly. Their mission hadn't been too long ago and considering it was their first time working together the two had done pretty well. "You said something about a favor?" Ouritsu asked, a brow raising inquisitively. There was no telling what was going to come out of Sukikyo's mouth but if the boy had went through all that effort to come find him then it must have been important, so the least he could do was hear him out.

"Yeah, a favor... or maybe more like seeking guidance," he admitted, his usual brashness softened a bit. "It's about the Eight Gates. I've been trying to understand how to access them, you know, to enhance my taijutsu. But it’s tough, really tough, especially when it comes to mastering the flow of chakra needed to 'open the tenketsu'." He used air quotes as he parroted what he had read in the scrolls.

He shifted on his feet, his gaze briefly falling to the ground before locking back onto Ouritsu. "I know it's a lot to ask, but I remember you’re brilliant with genjutsu, and chakra control usually goes hand-in-hand with that. I was hoping that maybe you could help me figure out how to get better at this?" Kyo's voice was earnest, clearly showing how much this meant to him.

He watched Ouritsu carefully, trying to gauge his reaction. The setting sun highlighted the intensity in his eyes, making it clear he was ready to learn whatever Ouritsu was willing to teach. "I know it's different from what you usually do, but I think your insight could really help me. Plus, it might be fun, right?" he added, a slight grin breaking through his serious demeanor, hoping to spark some interest in the chūnin.

Ouritsu nearly stopped the genin from talking as soon as he mentioned the eight gates considering how far away it was from his wheelhouse of knowledge. Any of the Okada probably would have been a better fit to teach him about all that taijutsu stuff --and truth be told the Nohime needed to get a bit better with it himself and needed to pay them a visit sometime soon as well, but that was neither here nor there. Finding the correct teacher for Sukikyo was the important part and the chunin didn't feel like he was the right person for the job.

That was.. until he mentioned chakra control and learning more about the tenketsu themselves. So it wasn't just the gates over all but needing to start at a fundamental level. Well that changed everything. "The gates.. not much I can help you there with, but chakra control? Right up my alley." Ouritsu replied rubbing the back of his head as he tried to figure out where to start. "First things first, tell me what you know about the tenketsu and how to control them. I don't want to bore you with stuff you might have already learned." He spoke, partly to get a baseline for where Sukikyo was on his knowledge journey and also to help give himself a bit more time to come up with a lesson on the fly.

"Honestly, I know they're the points where chakra flows from the body, right? And opening them means you can increase your chakra flow and boost your physical abilities temporarily. But that's more or less the extent of it. The whole process still feels like trying to grab smoke with my hands," he confessed, his voice tinged with a mix of frustration and eagerness.

Rubbing the back of his neck, he glanced at the ground briefly before meeting Ouritsu's eyes again. "I guess I'm asking for help with the basics. I’m not good at controlling my chakra, it’s easier for me to just let it all out in bursts with my explosions. How do I get better control over my chakra to even start thinking about the Gates? If you have any exercises, or tips, or... anything, really, I'm all ears."

Sukikyo stood ready, his posture attentive, signaling his readiness to dive into whatever Ouritsu had to offer. The last rays of the sun cast long shadows, emphasizing the determined look on his face, mirroring the seriousness with which he approached this new way of learning.

"Ouritsu-san, I'm here to learn, no matter how basic we need to start. What’s the first step?" His voice carried a hopeful note, eager to break through the barriers that had so far hindered his progress.

Ouritsu would listen intently as the genin spilled what he knew about the chakra network and controlling one's chakra in general, which to be honest, wasn't a whole lot but it wasn't something to be faulted for. Sukikyo was still young and as far as the Nohime knew the techniques the kid's family used didn't require a high degree of chakra control so it was normal that his knowledge level wasn't at a level more advanced than what he had learned in the academy or picked up from his sensei during his time as a genin.

Nodding as the pieces of understanding began to fall into place the chunin would once more don his teacher cap, something that was becoming more common in recent memory, as he tried to come up with some kind of lesson plan on the fly. "Basics it is then. Well, you know about the tenketsu and even to an extent how to control chakra so we've got a good enough foundation. What we need to do is get you comfortable with your chakra network so you can get the most from it, and the end goal of course getting everything from it via the gates."

With that Ouritsu would straighten his posture, bring his legs shoulder length apart and spread his arms out wide. "Match my pose. Comfortability comes with knowledge and to ensure that you know your tenketsu like the back of your hand you need to experience them. Now what I want you to do is focus chakra to each part of your body starting from the top of your head, then work it down and around like you're tracing an outline. Arms, hands, fingers. Legs, knees, toes. Upper chest to your stomach. Guide your chakra through the tenketsu."

It was a training regiment that Ouritsu had been put through many, many times growing up. He could not have hoped to wield such a complex and dangerous element as jinton without first having great knowledge of the chakra circulatory system and learning to control his flow of chakra.

His face, usually brimming with mischief, was now one of intense concentration as he listened carefully to the instructions. Tracing chakra through his body, like outlining a map, felt foreign to him - almost unnatural. He had always been bad at controlling his explosive chakra. But if it was going to help him gain access to the Eight Gates, he was willing to give it everything he had.

As he focused his chakra, he felt the familiar rush that came with his explosions, a burst of energy that usually led to power rather than precision. But now, instead of letting it explode outward, he tried to contain it, guiding it slowly down through his arms and into his fingertips, just like Ouritsu had instructed. His brow furrowed as he concentrated, feeling the energy pulse, but it was uneven, like trying to thread a needle with really shaky hands.

"Is it supposed to feel... this unstable?" Sukikyo asked, frustration lacing his voice. "I can feel the chakra, but it's like it's slipping away before I can grab it." He paused, glancing toward Ouritsu for reassurance. "Am I doing it right? Or do I need to pull back more?"

His eyes remained locked on Ouritsu, hoping for some guidance, knowing this was only the beginning of a much longer journey.

This was one of the few times Ouritsu wished that he was a sensor or something of the sort so he could have perceived Sukikyo's attempts more clearly, but instead the chunin would just have to make an educated guess about the genin's progress via what he said... and judging from his words things were not going all that well. The chakra slipping away before the genin could get a chance to guide it was definitely an issue, or more specifically a symptom of a more fundamental issue. "It definitely shouldn't feel unstable, yeah that's not good at all." Ouritsu replied with a hum. He had overestimated Sukikyo's ability for this exercise and indeed they'd need to scale back a bit.

"Ok ok, that's my bad for putting too much on your plate to start. Sounds like you're chasing the chakra instead of guiding it, which definitely happens when there's just too big an area to worry about. So let's try with just your upper body, start in the center like last time but only focus on guiding your chakra to your arms and head." Ouritsu spoke.

Getting Sukikyo comfortable with his entire chakra network was the end goal, sure, but breaking it down in segments would hopefully make things more manageable for the kid. The plan was to start with the upper body, then the lower body, and once the genin had a good feel for it guide chakra through the entire body. The Nohime could sense an eagerness to learn within Sukikyo that mirrored his own as a younger kid when he was starting on his journey to learn Jinton so he was more than happy to help but this wasn't going to be something perfected overnight so it was best to take things at pace.

[attr="class","lightbluetext"]Sukikyo took a deep breath, nodding at Ouritsu's words, though his frustration still simmered beneath the surface. Scaling back the exercise made sense, and maybe he'd been a bit too eager to leap into the deep end right away.

"All right, just the arms and head this time," he muttered to himself, letting out a slow exhale. He focused again, bringing his hands back to his sides and imagining the chakra flowing from the center of his chest outward. This time, instead of forcing it, he tried to coax it, like nudging a stream to flow in a particular direction.

It was smoother now, at least a little. He felt the energy travel up through his arms, though it still felt a bit wobbly, and when he reached his head, the sensation was faint. But there was progress, and that gave him a small sense of accomplishment.

"I think it's...better?" Sukikyo said, his voice still carrying a hint of uncertainty. "I can feel it now, but it's like...weaker? Not as strong as when I let it out all at once." He glanced toward Ouritsu for feedback. "Is that what I should be feeling? Or should it be stronger?"

He straightened his posture, already thinking about the next step, eager to see where this training could take him.

Judging solely by the look on Sukikyo's face he seemed to be struggling considerably less with the exercise this time around and added to the fact that no violent bursts of chakra had sprouted from the boy Ouritsu concluded that his pupil-for-the-day was doing much better. Understanding the totality of the tenketsu would take time and unlikely a feat that the genin would master for years to come, but as his knowledge base grew --along with his skills using the gates-- progress would come hand in hand. Given the technique he had set his sights on to learn was on the fringes of being forbidden especially when it came to the higher numbered gates it was imperative that Sukikyo make this knowledge second hand; pushing past one's limits was one thing, barreling past them to the point of self-harm was an entirely different beast.

Hearing the boy ask if his attempt was going well, especially since he was feeling less chakra being expended, brought a chuckle from the Nohime. "All a matter of perspective, ya know? Your clan is used to letting out huge bursts of chakra at a time which to you all seems normal, but for everyone else may look excessive, and in this case less is more." He spoke. "But yes, for the purpose of this exercise you want to use an amount of chakra that can be guided, controlled as nimbly as you would twirl as you would use a shuriken, and it's hard to get used to that feeling if a bunch of chakra is racing from point A to Z."

Truth be told Ouritsu was trying his best to parrot a bunch of old teachings he had heard as a kid and hoped what he remembered mixed in with some of his own thoughts were making sense to the genin. "Now give it a try for the lower half. Start at the center and work your way down, should be a similar feeling to when you're using the walking techniques."

[attr="class","lightbluetext"]Sukikyo's grin widened slightly at Ouritsu's words, encouraged by the progress, even if it was slower than he hoped. "Less is more, huh? Yeah, I guess I'm more used to blowing things up than handling them gently," he admitted with a laugh, though his mind was still focused on the task at hand.

"Okay, lower body now," he muttered to himself, repeating the process from the center of his chest, this time sending chakra down through his legs. He thought about the subtle control required for the walking techniques and tried to mirror that, channeling the energy slowly, evenly, all the way down to his toes.

There was still that wobble, the unevenness he wasn’t used to, but it felt more manageable. Like a steady current instead of the usual flood he’d unleash during combat. He could feel his chakra circulating better than before.

Sukikyo exhaled and glanced up at Ouritsu. "It feels... better now. I’m not chasing it as much, and it’s definitely more stable. But is this what it's supposed to be like? I can still feel the chakra pulling at me, like it wants to go faster, like I’m holding it back."

He shifted on his feet, excitement in his eyes. "Once I can control it like this, do you think I’ll be able to take it further? Actually start opening the Gates?" His voice was filled with that typical Sukikyo energy. He was determined - perhaps too determined - but he was eager to hear what Ouritsu thought about his progress.

As a member of the Yutakako Clan, Sūkikyō was born with the ability to combine Katon and Raiton into the explosive element, Bakuton. He's not very precise with his explosions, but they don't lack in power, able to destroy with ease when the boy wants to. He's not a master, but he's rather talented at utilizing the kekkei genkai. Sūkikyō's trained with Bakuton from a very young age and has learned to use it in tandem with his favored taijutsu.

『Speed Demon』

Speed is not an issue for this rambunctious boy. Sūkikyō's speed is nothing to be taken lightly, he has pushed himself physically to be able to outpace opponents. The boy is quick and agile, easily outpacing his peers. Many people have trouble keeping track of Sūkikyō’s movements, as they are ridiculously quick for someone of his age.

Going against the grain of what one was accustomed to, especially when it came to the shinobi arts, was always a difficult prospect. Sukikyo had no doubt been trained from a young age to expend his chakra as quickly and violently as possible per the abilities of his clan so it didn't surprise Ouritsu at all when the genin believed the lesser amount of chakra he was using felt weak in comparison to what he was used to, and truth be told for what he was training to eventually do it did seem counterintuitive, but trying to remove the limiters of certain tenketsu without the requisite control simply wouldn't work, so using a little less chakra to get a hang of understanding the chakra network was gonna be the name of the game.

Ouritsu would watch intently as the genin took a shot at the next step of his training, this time attempting to channel his chakra through the lower half of his body. He hoped that equating the training to using the walking techniques would give Sukikyo a better frame of mind for what he needed to do, albeit a much slower process than he was probably used to. Judging from how the boy spoke he was getting a better hang of guiding his chakra through the tenketsu though perfect control still eluded him for the moment.

"Sounds like you're well on the way to getting a real hang of it, but to get a true handle on your tenketsu you must be able to control how much and where the chakra goes. Some of that will just come with more practice, but getting comfortable with the feeling is our goal today." Ouritsu replied before hearing Sukikyo ask if he'd be ready to start opening the gates once he got this down packed.

Blowing a raspberry, the chunin found himself at a bit of a crossroads for whether or not he wanted to be responsible for giving the go ahead for one so young to start trying to use such a dangerous technique. Granted, at this point he was already complicit just by helping the genin gain a better understanding of his tenketsu. "It's certainly a step in the right direction. Can't say for sure when you'll be ready to take that leap, but when you do please make sure someone else is around. I shouldn't have to tell you that messing around with that much chakra at once is dangerous." He added.

"With that said, I've got complete faith in you to get to that point. But for now, let's try circulating some chakra through your entire body."

Taking a deep breath, Sukikyo shifted his focus once again, this time preparing to circulate his chakra through his entire body. The process felt daunting, especially knowing how unstable it had been earlier, but with Ouritsu's guidance, he felt a newfound sense of control, even if it was still a bit shaky.

"Here goes," he muttered, closing his eyes to concentrate. He visualized the chakra starting in his chest, flowing outward like a river branching through the tenketsu in his arms, legs, and head. Slowly, carefully, he guided the energy, trying to keep it steady as it traveled through him.

There were moments when the chakra threatened to surge too quickly, but Sukikyo reined it in, applying the lessons Ouritsu had taught him. The sensation was strange but exhilarating, like holding a wild force just beneath the surface.

After a few tense moments, Sukikyo exhaled and opened his eyes, a satisfied but tired look on his face. "That felt... better. Not perfect, but definitely better." He gave a half-smile, pleased with his progress.

"What's next, Ouritsu-san?" His voice was eager, despite the challenge ahead, ready for the next step in his training.

"Well, I'd be lying if I said no." Ouritsu replied. His clan wielded one of the most destructive abilities in the shinobi world and there was just as much risk to the user as it was to their enemies if used improperly. Learning jinton as a kid had not been the easiest thing in the world and there were plenty of stories of what could go wrong if there was imbalance in the technique. Hell, Kouen himself had been a living example of what could go wrong with jinton and the mummy-looking man had perhaps inadverndantly been a lesson to the purple haired youth of how important it was to paying attention to detail. It was the reason he cautioned Sukikyo to have someone with him when he did eventually try his hand at using the gates as though the power granted from them was grand the body was not meant to release that much chakra at once and the effects of such an act were rough, to say the least.

But the time for that would come later down the line and for now there was still practice to be completed. Ouritsu would watch as Sukikyo worked at circulating chakra throughout his entire body once more. The attempt was quicker than before and it was a testament to the genin gaining a better understanding of his tenketsu and how to manipulate chakra through them. His end goal would likely prevent him from being able to mold chakra to the highest degrees but if Sukikyo could learn to bypass those natural limiters then the eight gates would be well within his grasp.

Hearing him say how it felt better was definitely a good sign and the boy was eager to move to the next lesson and one step closer to his ultimate goal. "Making good progress, that's for sure. As for what's next... a question, really. What made you want to learn how to use the Hachimon?" It was a two-pronged question to be honest. Ouritsu did really want to know what drove Sukikyo to wanting to use the gates, but he also wanted to give the boy a bit of a break.

[attr="class","lightbluetext"]Kyo blinked, caught off guard by the question. He hadn't really talked about his reasons much, not even to himself sometimes. It just seemed so obvious to him that he wanted to be stronger - but why? He took a deep breath as he considered how to answer.

"I guess it's... complicated," he began, his voice quieter than usual. "I've always wanted to be strong, sure, but after the civil war, it felt different. Watching the village tear itself apart, seeing people I cared about scared, hurt, or worse - it changed things." His hands tightened into fists as the dark memories came back to the forefront of his mind.

"I don't want that kind of fear to ever hit us again. I don't want anyone to live in constant fear of losing everything because some threat rolls into town. The village needs to be safe, and I want to be one of the people making sure it stays that way."

He paused, trying to find the right words. "I guess what really drives me is... I want everyone to be happy. Cheesy, right?" He let out a small laugh, though it quickly faded, replaced by his serious tone once more. "But that's what I want. A village where no one has to worry about losing the people they love because of some evil. And to do that, I need to be strong - strong enough to take on whatever comes our way."

Sukikyo's eyes lifted and a small smile crossed his face. "That's why I want to learn the Hachimon. It's not just about getting stronger for the sake of it. I know it's risky... but I'm willing to do whatever it takes."

He fell quiet for a moment. "So yeah... that's why. To keep everyone safe. And maybe... maybe... to bring some peace to the village, y'know?"

Sukikyo shifted his stance slightly, slightly nervous from laying his thoughts out like that. He looked to Ouritsu, waiting for his response, wondering what the older shinobi might think of his answer.
