He was either making a big mistake by thinking the way he did, or he was entirely correct in his assumption. Regardless, it seemed very much like the animal had taken on certain properties that weren't like that of the average octopi. It seemed in ways similar to a jellyfish in that it had taken on characteristics of water, which would either make it even more malleable and capable of invading places that it normally wouldn't fit into, or its odd physique would mean it had become completely aquatic. Given the fact that it had in fact been altered by odd watery chakra, it seemed to make a lot of sense that it was not meant to venture out of it and was in some way 'evolved' to function insanely well within its own domain.

But seeing as he wasn't sure about this hypothesis being one hundred percent sound, it would be in everyone's best interest if they were to finally get their butts moving down towards whatever the hell it was that kept the barrier functional. To his satisfaction, the group would quickly make their way over to where the Iwagakure ninja had said the thing holding the barrier up to be, leading them to the unveiling of a strange kind of crystal. While he was by no means a sensor, even he could feel the thing thrumming with energy. It was something they should get rid of sooner rather than later, though there was no telling what effect that might end up having on the cavern they all found themselves in.

"Better destroy it quickly so we can get on out of here as soon as possible. I'd rather not wait around to see if my hypothesis was right, or wait for this place to get fully submerged... though I guess those are problems that'd affect the two of you a lot more than me."

If the ceiling were to remain in place, they would likely be fine, at least until the cavern started flooding, which it very well might. On the other hand, it might not. There was really no telling how long it had been here before the crystal was put here, or if maybe it had been made specifically to house the crystal. If that had been the case however, it seemed odd that there seemed to be another obscure path in the back. Maybe if they were to head on down there, they might be able to find a way up without having to go back through where the octopus was.

Thankfully the walk to their target was quick. All the alertness and caution Yua was putting into their surroundings was showing no signs of life within the cave, though with the stagnant air she really should have figured that out. Considering it was still breathable, nothing had been in this cave area for a long time. The big, obvious hint that they’d arrived at their destination soon filled the area with such bright light Yua couldn’t help but squint, barely able to make out the surrounding cave.

It'd take the poor genin a few moments to adjust her eyesight to the new conditions, only to shake her head in wonder at the crystal that’d caused so much disruption to the world around it. "It’s great n’ all that we found it but uh.” Yua glanced between Yoshiko and Keneō and shook her head before turning to the Iwakagure jounin again. "I don’t think I’m strong enough to break it, and I doubt it’s weak to its own element. Please tell me you have a way to destroy it?”

Yua didn’t exactly have much experience with the kind of place they were in, mainly under water and caves, and had no real idea what was going to happen assuming they did destroy the crystal. She was simply trusting in the two people she was given to work with, regardless of the weird inter-village associations that seemed to spring up according to the whims of the people of this continent.

It'd seem both her teammates simply wanted to tackle the objective and run. She wasn't surprised neither of them offered a way to destroy this massive crystal, she hadn't doubted it'd be tasked upon her. "I've got this with ease, but when I destroy it, the water above will definitely rush into here. Until this whole cavern is full of water, it'll most likely push us down and try to push us back into the tunnel. So get ready and if you need help let me know now, then put your rebreather back in and I'll know to handle this."

The jounin would explain what'd happen next, then listen if Futago needed help bracing for the water rush. She'd wonder if the Hozuki would offer or have an ability to help with the sudden rush of water. At the very least though the smiling kunoichi felt the boy on the team was least likely to be negatively effected. Once clear nothing else was needed to be done prior to the crystals destruction. Yoshiko would put on her rebreather, activate her tree-climbing technique to cling to the ground in preparation.

Her team and herself prepared, Yoshiko would once again put her hands apart. A cube of bright light forming once again, but this one had a lot more concentrated chakra. It was the true pride of her clan, as she'd finish forming the jinton cube, she'd push push out both arms and extend her open hands out. The shape growing and shifting forward completely engulfing the crystal, as well as parts of the rock cave. Assuring it was totally destroyed, then clapping her hands together. The geometric shape would shine bright vanishing along with everything inside.

Only the light glimpse of dust falling, a moment of water seemingly above cut in that geometric shape. Though the shape and sight would be lost as a sudden and violent gushing of the water came down crashing into the cavern straight down. It'd hit the between all the shinobi and spread out with relatively massive force. As all the weight of the water above now pushed down. Even Yoshiko felt a pinch overwhelmed, especially as her chakra sensory came back online. Not only was their stalker still outside the now flooding cavern allowing it to finally chase them, but the rushing water was pulling in some other chakra signature toward the new opening in the cavern. They'd have to figure out away to push through the tons of water force coming down or ready themselves for a fight.

When it came to him and his own defense, he honestly wasn't all that worried as he had the water always on his side. The moment things went south, he could just turn himself into water and quite literally go with the flow of things, though that would not be a whole lot of help to the other two. And while he did not know them, he did not want to be that kind of person that would just abandon their allies and escape with their own life. While it perhaps wasn't the most shinobi-like approach, he would stick with these people until he was certain that they all managed to get out, or if everyone else had died. Though the latter option was not something he expected would happen.

"I think we should move for the path in the back and see where that takes us. Once your rebreathers are on and the crystal is destroyed, it will likely make for a more safe route to move on through that might even put us behind where the barrier might have been. After all, whoever made this thing must have had some way of getting around their own barrier right?"

Witnessing the use of a ninjutsu technique he had never seen or heard of before, Ken could not pinpoint exactly which factors or even elements came into play as this highly compartmentalized spatial figure came into being, utterly evaporated everything inside of it and then just disappeared. The amount of destructive factors that would have to be included in a technique that left nothing inside of it was insane. When fire burned something or lightning evaporated something, it left ashes. When earth crushed something, it left remains of some sort like dust or bloody smears. When wind tore something apart, the same concept applied as there was always 'something' that was left behind.

But whatever this technique was, whatever made up this odd ninjutsu, it was far more precise and destructive than anything he had ever seen before, as it left behind nothing in its wake.

Regardless, he hoped that the last bit of information he dumped onto the group prior to the destruction of the crystal had not fallen on deaf ears. In his opinion, it was just about the best bet they had towards not having to fight something as they had gone about completing their mission already. Any form of killing was not a requirement, all they had to do was escape with their lives. And so, as Ken liquified himself again in order to evade the most of the water that was about to come down on top of them, he maneuvered himself ever so slightly towards the hidden path. With the Iwagakure ninja being a sensor, he was confident that she could sense him heading into that direction, and would hopefully go along with it.

Yua listened carefully to Yoshiko’s plan and nodded along, very happy to know they had a way to actually complete the mission that’d been given to them. The only real problem with it all was a big, glaring fault with her capabilities to withstand the rush of water that was likely to be coming their way in just a moment. "You don’t supposed I could simply jump through the water pressure and get out that way?” she asked a little too innocently, knowing full well this was unlikely to be the case.

Yua slowly looked around the cavern they were in for some sort of indent in the wall, a stalagmite or stalactites that may have formed in the area alongside the crystal that she might be able to hold onto, but most of the space seemed smooth outside of the pillar that was the crystal itself. "The paths as good as any I guess.” She replied to Keno as she investigated, "But you’re assumin’ that someone did this intentionally. Most’a the reports I saw seem to suggest that weird meteorite is the cause a’ most of this mess.” Yua nodded her head towards the crystal as evidence. While the cavern may seem off it seemed too natural in formation of some sort, not some intentionally placed idol or seal that might have indicated a more human touch.

The purple haired girl then slowly looked towards Yoshiko with an apologetic smile, not really wanting to have to ask her next question but unable to escape its necessity. "Would you mind if I held onto you?” she asked Yoshiko with an apologetic bow. Yua was clearly embarrassed to be providing such a bad show of skill, but practical enough not to let such silly thoughts rule her actions. If the jounin approved of the plan Yua would reattach her rebreather and wrap her arms around the slightly taller woman’s waist, then brace herself for the water. If not, she’d move to the side of the cavern that had the further tunnels that Keneo indicated and do her best to brace against the wall instead, ready to deal the best she could.

Regardless of where she watched the amazing technique that would destroy the crystal from Yua wouldn’t really be able to react before the rush of water quickly started to fill the cavern, and likely batter the poor girl around. Clinging to a human or floundering against a wall, Yua would end up following the other two via whatever path they chose.

"No, you'd be unable to jump through." The rock shinobi would quickly reply to her grass shinobi teammate. It was definitely going to require them to endure the incoming water first, then make their move after the water started rushing down. She'd already been on the opposite side the crystal as their initial entrance, so Ken's suggestion merely put them altogether.

"If the back path doesn't lead out to air, then the air will escape through the hole I make. Even if there's air down the path though, it might not be big enough for us to pass. I can probably make it bigger, but that'll be quite draining and cause a similar situation to this." Yoshiko would explain, as she'd personally have no real interest now in taking that path. She'd offered they'd explored first already, which wasn't the route they'd stated they'd take.

"Of course you can hold onto me, I should be able to make us both resistant to the water." Yoshiko would state, waiting for Yua to get a firm grasp. Then going forward with her technique, as to let the water rush in. After performing her jinton cube technique, the Nohime would follow with her heavy weight rock technique, as to apply chakra to both her and Yua increasing their weights. As to make the force of the water coming less overwhelming.

Even(s) the air leaves this made hole, Odd(s) the air is pushed out the back path. If the air escapes the new hole, it'll make leaving through it similarly easier. As there's a gap of force created by the air pushing up, but if the air went up the back path, then the water bursting in would be full force and the flooding would happen much quicker.

"If you lose track of me once the water comes down, just focus on getting to the shore. There's not a whole lot that water can do to me anyways."

Making one last honest observation before the ceiling of the cavern got blown out and made way for tons upon tons of water to come rushing down, Ken immediately reverted his body into water so as to not feel the weight of the water or get dragged away by the current. Seeing as how the two women were more or less taking care of themselves, he should do the same thing as he first made an attempt at checking out the path that he believed might have at some point acted as a means of letting whoever put this barrier up back out. But that would reinforce the idea that this barrier was placed by a person, which was not something they could be entirely certain of.

But as it turned out, the back path was either sealed or simply never went anywhere to begin with, as the room they were in was flooding rather quickly and didn't seem to disappear in large volumes into that particular direction. A shame, as he had hoped it would have provided them with a straight path to dry land. But with the rush of water coming in, even while in his liquid form, Ken was having issues properly staying in one place and getting to a point where he could be useful. As it were, the water that was rapidly filling up the cave was making it difficult to really do anything other than stay put until the cave was mostly flooded, which was exactly the moment he waited for.

In what honestly felt like seconds, the cave itself had filled itself up, which meant now was the time for them to make their way out. Doing what he could to try and get the others out, the fact that they had seemingly made themselves incredibly heavy, likely to withstand the rushing water meant that there was no way for him to help. And so, he did exactly what he said he would do. To make his way up through the hole once the water had filled the place up far enough and get himself towards the shore. There, he would wait for the others to make their way up as well.

Yua was relieved to have permission to hold on. Yoshiko seemed to be quite the kind person and willing to overlook any sort of imaginary dislike their villages seemed to have. Not that the young Futago woman knew much about all that stuff. Whatever technique the Iwagakure jounin used to hold them in place was like nothing Yua had ever experienced, the sudden increase in weight was noticeable but didn’t make her feel like she was in danger, though she was quite aware that there was no way she’d be able to move until Yoshiko decided to release the technique.

Despite the support of the technique Yua couldn’t help but flinch as the rush of water flowed into the room. She closed her eyes and held onto Yoshiko for dear life even with the weight technique holding them in place. Once she felt she was covered in water the young woman did open her eyes, most of the air had left the room already and while the water was still flowing in it seemed their luck was good. It’d take a few more seconds before they’d be able to swim their way out of the tunnels and work their way back towards the land.

As soon as Yoshiko released the technique Yua would shoot up towards the hole alongside the jounin. She had no idea if the creature they’d escaped earlier would be anywhere near this new exit but the possibility was there, though more likely it’d been pushed away from the entrance they’d originally used by the stream of water escaping the tunnels through that path. Hopefully they’d have a clear shot to the surface, though Yua would gesture to remind everyone to go slow. The last thing she wanted to deal with was her and Yoshiko getting the bends on their way out of the water. She had no idea if Keneo was even able to suffer such a thing considering he was water right now.

Upon deletion of the crystal, Yoshiko's sensory would finally be restored. She'd be able to sense their earlier friend waiting at the old entrance propelled up by the change in air pressure. As air pulled out for water to rush in, so would the other whole seep in water to meet the new level. It'd not be instant though and it'd seem no other creature was too close.

Without needing or really being able to explain the best plan, the Nohime found herself in wise company. As soon as she released the weighted rock technique, Yoshiko would release and sort of push the genin towards the new opening. Swimming up after her and merely hoping their Hozuki friend was with them or soon to join them above. Her mind a little rushed, she'd be quite happy the Kusagakure shinobi reminded them to surface slowly.

Tsuchi no Kuni's waters were generally a bit too cold for most shinobi to dive, so there was really very limited reason to instinctively think about that. She'd keep her guard up as they slowly surfaced, but then she'd more or less activate water walking to rush the shore. Her head sort of frantically scanning the area until Keneo would surface too or re-amass himself. "Everyone okay? I think we can consider that a success." She'd state as she'd step away from the shore and sort of signal the others to also avoid the water. No sense sitting next to the water and tempting one of those octopuses to reach out of it.
