Hisao held back a hidden smile as she came climbing back over the edge and onto steady ground. He accepted the ruined jacket and assessed the damages. They were not too bad all things considered. IT was good to know the material could withstand the weight should it be needed in the future. He would go home and stitch it back up, maybe add decorations to hide the new seams. He nodded at her in response to her thanks, unsure of what to say and erroring on the side of silence.
Not wanting to actually wear the torn jacket, he neatly folded it up and placed it in his bag, retrieving a glass container before doing so. His habit of wearing many layers would keep him warm, even if he was now one layer more exposed than he was used to.
He looked back up at An and looked her over for any signs of damage. Finding none his eyes landed back on the pouch as she showed it to him. He looked into the bag with the flowers and a sense of relief and.. Pride perhaps? Flushed through him. The mission so far had been a success, now they just needed to bring it back safely. Hisao opened the glass container and gestured for her to move the flowers into it, as she was still wearing gloves and would be protected if the flowers had any nasty unknown defence mechanisms against touch. He would then have sealed the container and deposited it back into his backpack, closing it and double-checking everything before signing for her he was ready to leave.
The duo returned to the city, trekking back using the path from which they had come. Hisao was, unnecessarily so or not, cautious during their return trip. He had not wanted them to stand out in the open too long but also used the safety of a crowd to blend in and avoid confrontations in secluded alleyways and the like. He’d suggested they not speak of the flowers, not even until they had returned and had, as any simple tourist likely would, bought two bundles of tea samples and was carrying them openly.
Once on the ship Hisao would have returned, much like on their way there, to the shadows and tried as well as he could to effectively erase his existence. It was not until the two had stepped back into their home city that Hisao opened up again.
"Good job, An-Dono. There is much to be proud of today. You did very well and I.. was glad to have you by my side. I have many thoughts on what steps we will need to take next in the cultivation part of these Wind Flowers and if you are at all interested I will put in a word at the laboratory so that you may join us, should you wish to do so”
They would have to deliver a rapport either way but being the other half of the duo who had seen the place with their own eyes, and the one to scale the cliffside, Hisao thought she may have some valuable insight. She had shown interest in the cultivation of fungi before and while he would not want to assume this would interest her as well, in his eyes she had earned the invitation nonetheless.
Whether she accepted or not and whether she had joined him or not, Hisao would have then gone back to the hospital to deliver the collected flowers and write up an official rapport on the mission. The actual research of the collected flowers would take place another day, likely the next. But before the two went about their own business, Hisao would have offered her one of the two bags of tea samples. It had been a long day and Hisao, unwary of how to show proper thanks and if it was even needed but wanting to anyway, made some offhanded comment about not being able to drink it all anyway and insisting she take it before they parted way and he returned home.
