With his position revealed, Kaoru no longer really needed to remain hidden... probably, and honestly there was only so long he could hold himself back before his need to take more engaging action overwhelmed him. As a nearby tree detonated, the redhead slotted his bow into place on his back and repaid Sadako in kind for her attack, his hands flicking through a number of seals as chakra gathered within his core. A moment later, a massive glob of almost liquid fire was spat in the Ame-nin's direction as he unleased Katon: Endan for the first time in an actual combat situation. The flaming ball of oil would be remarkably resistant to the rain that accompanied Sadako and should hopefully surprise her.

This was followed by him dropping out of the tree he was in to relocate, a sharp pain in his head accompanying the activation of his Genjutsu Intolerance Seal as the sound of a horde of hyenas began echoing all around. While the ache couldn't break him free of the noise, it was enough to tell him that he was within some sort of genjutsu. It didn't matter, he'd either cut them or he wouldn't.

"Are you going to keep throwing bombs? Or are you going to come and fight me?" he called out, stepping into the sight range of Sadako with his katana drawn and held loosely at his side, content that his teammates would be dealing with the other attackers and honestly about ready for a more interesting fight than all this sneaking around had offered. His patience was starting to run out with the whole situation, which meant it was time to make himself a target and let the sneakier nin on his team work with less hinderance.

The destruction of some of the trees likely would have revealed one of the prohibition seals of the Five Seal Barrier that he had placed on their base, though whether the other team would know what it meant or how it served as a defence he had no idea. It wasn't like they were going to be able to do much with it at any rate. It had been well worth the headache of learning to apply it here.

"Taro would have by now~" he added, hoping to taunt the girl into a blind assault, the bells in his hair finally jingling to be heard.

Description: After doing the necessary hand seals, the user molds a large amount of oil within their gut before spitting it out, simultaneously lighting it aflame with their charka. The result is a giant fireball, fueled by oil, which burns everything engulfed in it. Since it is both fire and oil mixed together, it is even difficult to be put out by water.

Ameko’s ears pricked, the sound of Yuno’s offer taunting her from somewhere within the treeline. The Suna-nin bore her teeth into a snarl, the rough exhale of air the sole response she would give to that prospect. Her chakra bond with Kori strained, the pain that he’d suffered evident in the back of her mind, like a long distant memory. But they’d had a job to do, they had a mission to complete. Their opponents were many things, but she doubted that they’d do any untoward damage to her familiars. Kori was in pain, but he would need to suffer through it for a time longer. She’d not dignify the offer with a response, instead turning her attention to the language of the words. They had been so focused on the flags, that she’d entirely neglected the alternative win condition. Capturing Kaoru. But she didn’t have much of an opportunity to focus on that plan, for she was under attack once more. Slicing waves cut toward her, and she was forced once more to dodge. Again relying upon her taijutsu background, she activated Quick Rotation once again, flinging her body out of the way of the attack and toward a nearby tree. She was painfully aware of how the trees had become enemies in and of themselves, the opposing team had seen to that, but if she could keep moving, if she could somehow maintain some sort of speed, then maybe she’d be able to outrun it. At least, long enough to serve as bait for Sadako to capture a target. Pushing off the tree, her plan would be simple, to use a modified form of her Claw Cacophany to leap between trees. She would not be slicing at her opponents, and she could very well be making a huge tactical error by opening herself up to further traps, but reliance on her speed would need to be enough. Bait switches, cause them to fall without purpose, and try to gather something in the way of information as to the enemy’s location. A simple enough strategy. Besides, if worse came to worst, then Yuki had her scent, the hyena would not allow his master to be captured without a fight.

In all fairness, the rat wasn't going to stick around, but the boy surely knew that. When danger started getting close, and the pretty boy would whisper into his ear, the rat would quickly poof away- It's job was done, after all. It had brought attention to the fact that there was someone here, and more then that, she had even managed to injure the boy lightly.

That was a win in the little rats book.

Meanwhile, Taro was still hiding quite well in the quarry. He was slid up carefully against the protection of the wooden support beam- And his clone was still up and out on top of the 'wires' that surrounded the flags to keep them aloft.

It was a simple technique, it seemed- He would keep his opponent thinking his clone was searching for them, while Taro himself stayed hidden, waiting to strike. There was no point in revealing himself early- He had the clear advantage of stealth on his side here, his opponent unable to clearly spot him- Which meant he wasn't likely to strike out unless his opponent walked into range, or into one of the multiple traps.

DESCRIPTION:
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user can create a handful of intangible clones to confuse the enemy. They do not contain solid mass, have no shadows and do not interact with the surrounding environment, making them somewhat easy to distinguish from the real person.

Sadako was expecting another explosive-tagged arrow, not—the glop of burning oil that hurtled her way, cutting through her grudge rain with barely more than a sizzle to indicate that the rainfall was doing anything to combat the fire at all. It caught her off guard, and even as honed as her reflexes were, she still had to brute-force chakra into a sharp, abrupt use of quick rotation to jerk herself out of the way, just narrowly avoiding a direct hit from the burning oil. Some of it still splattered onto her flank, catching her shoulder, bicep, and hip in a searing burst of pain that made her clench her teeth so tightly her jaw might have been wired shut. Her shirt caught flame, and the oil-fueled fire proved stubbornly resistant to the ongoing deluge of rain.

Compartmentalize. It hurt like a sonofabitch, but she could muscle through. Ameko was dealing with the other two losers, and Sadako’s last explosive revealed what looked like a massive barrier protecting the East team’s base that she had no earthly idea how to deal with, if blowing it up didn’t work—which meant capturing Kaoru was their only hope for victory, and right now it was up to her to make it happen.

With pressure mounting, her flank burning with pain that she pushed down and buried deep, and Kaoru’s taunts ringing in her ears—a year ago, that might have been enough to set Sadako off, throwing herself recklessly into the fray with a fury as hot as the fire eating away at her shirt. Now, she could feel her temper rising—but she leashed it, her jaw clenched and her nostrils flaring.

"Funny,” Sadako spat back, ”’cause he’s right behind you.”

A stupid bluff, but worth a shot. She sprinted forward, aiming to close the gap to get into melee with Kaoru as fast as possible. But she kept her eyes peeled—quick but not reckless—ready to twist on a dime into another quick rotation to evade any traps that stood between her and her prey. She jingled the bells braceleted around her wrist hard, trying to make them ring loud enough for Kaoru to hear, and threaded a thin line of chakra to afflict him with a minor genjutsu, crafting two illusory clones flanking her that mimicked her motions exactly. Not worth more than a momentary surprise, undoubtedly, but she only needed a small opening to try to get the upper hand.

tl;dr:
- Used Quick Rotation + Reflexes SA to avoid getting hit by Kaoru's fireball, but was still grazed by it. Has burns on her right side and her shirt has caught fire.
- Powering through the pain with her Pain Tolerance SA. Unsure if fireball-burns would be Moderate reduced to Minor or Major reduced to Moderate, but either way she should be able to muscle through.
- Tries to sike out Kaoru into thinking that Taro is flanking him, rushes into melee in the meantime.

Because it will be difficult to tell the real one apart from the illusions, the user can take advantage of this and attack the target without much trouble.

With the rat gone, things became far more simplified for Risi, and he could simply watch from what he assumed was a fairly safe location. He wouldn't be easily seen by his enemy from here, it seemed, and he could somewhat simply observe the actions of the Taro that appeared to be looking at all the flags, but then he frowns at the strangeness of the situation. The Taro that was now on the wires didn't seem to be moving with the movements of the clone at all, letting Risi know that this was either an illusion or just the simplistic clone technique from the Academy. He scoffs, though quietly, as he considers his options and what he knows now about the situation: the real Taro knew he was nearby, but he doesn't necessarily know where, only that he assumes that Risi will be within view of the many multiple flags. He also knows that explosive notes had been used against him. He doesn't like this situation one bit; if he takes the bait and tries to hit the clone in order to disperse it, that gives away his position, and if he ignores the clone in order to try those flags, even if he succeeds in reaching the flags, he'll have to deal with both Taro and the possibility that he's grabbed the wrong flag, and possibly, an explosive note.

A bird caws high above, and Risi looks up to see that crow he'd been using for reconnaissance earlier, flying somewhat lazily in the air. It had shouted a hello down to him, and he suddenly gets a very clever idea. Why should he put himself in danger? He caws a hello back to the crow with his own Murder Speech, which would of course sound indistinguishable from the sound of another crow's cawing, and the bird flies down to see what Risi would like. With one of the oldest and most useful techniques of his clan, he gives an order to his crow friend, telling him to gather all the crows he can convince to work with him to tear down all the flags they can from the flagpoles and bring them to the other base. While the normal commanding technique could only be used on as many as five birds, he could, to a lesser extent, get a slightly larger flock to do the bidding of the commanded crow... they would simply not need to follow the initial crow to the letter.

Now Risi simply sits back and watches as the crow flies away now, returning with a fairly small flock to start them pecking at and testing the flags with their beaks and feet. The one he'd commanded was, of course, rather more bold and simply grabbed one of many flags to fly off with it. It would probably return to do this again, unless Taro wanted to reveal his location. The Kumo ninja smirks to himself, and whispers a quiet word of early congratulations, even as he prepares his scythe, just in case Taro decides to investigate the rock the crow had flown to before it had retreated to gather more birds.

DESCRIPTION:
Through the use of chakra and Murder Speech a member from the Kyuumu clan can give a command to any bird, and the bird must follow the order down to the letter. Unlike higher rank jutsu that affect a large number of birds, this jutsu can only affect 5 birds at most. That makes this jutsu slightly less useful in combat, but it can be used for some low level scouting, or to offer a distraction if the opponent isn't expecting to be attacked by some birds.

Kaoru trusted both his own senses, his experiences, and his team to tell him if he was being snuck up on, so Sadako's attempt to convince him that Taro was doing such a thing fell a little flat. There was no way the boy from Ame would have tried such a move, not when he was much more suited to head on attacks. Instead he watched and waited for Sadako to charge at him, the redhead unmoving and seemingly relaxed as she closed the distance. He simply smirked at her, daring her to come at him and take him on.

He wasn't sure if she would notice the hidden spike pit that was laid out in front of him, the barest patterning in the dirt the only sign of one of the earliest traps they had laid. It had many days for the earth to settle and blend in with the surroundings along with the leaf litter spread across it.

He didn't react as she seemed to split into several copies, beyond raising his blade up in a mocking salute and taking half a step back in the guise of getting in to a ready pose. "It doesn't matter how many of you there are, I can still take you on with one arm," he taunted, seemingly nonchalant about the fight that he could hear going on further in the trees. He was sure that Touwa and Yuno could handle it.

[Sō Yuno]

Yuno expected her offer to be turned down. So there'd be nothing lost in her proposals failure, it'd force this little conflict to escalate towards a field she less preferred. Thankfully she'd managed to practice some more low ranked scaling, as to allow her to be less at danger when clearly in danger. Attention upon Ameko's rough position she'd hear and see the blur move.

Finally the enemy seemed to be willing to risk more than their pets, she'd miss her perfectly hidden location. However with how quickly this genin moved, Yuno didn't help wondering how effect the log traps would turn out. Perhaps one of the limbs falling and a once thought stable ground made unstable might throw her off. The hidden traps would be the most effective those patches of ground that'd give way to spikes.

Shifting to stick behind a level of cover, the little dragon would move to intercept Ameko's general direction. Attempting to hop out ahead of the path they're travelling. Immediately opening with a burst of water aimed for either; Ameko herself if she's mid air just jumping or aimed for the location she's about to land if she'd near end of a jump. She'd arc her shot a little as to hopefully make going over the attack impossible. If dodged downwards too quickly they'd risk the trapped ground in a haste.

Even if only apart of this jutsu hit the Suna shinobi, it'd glob over whatever it covered. Acting like an almost glue, capable of binding the limbs or even disbalancing them with the added water weight.

Sō Hijutsu: White Dragon
Yuno is a member of the Sō clan and daughter of one of the more renown members. Due to this she had a very early teaching and raising in the art of calling upon the ancient dragon's of yore power. This means she has the power to transform her skin into glistening white scales. She's also capable of performing breath attacks without hand seals, however with the water nature it's not something she's proud. Often feeling like she's basically puking.

The technique can be escaped by releasing a medium amount of chakra from ones person to disrupt the sticky water.

As Touwa moved through the underbrush, the gentle hum of his Wind Walk allowed him to glide with minimal sound, tracking Ameko’s increasingly erratic movements. Her instinctive leaps and sharp turns betrayed her unease, revealing patterns in her escape that Touwa was ready to exploit.

Spotting Yuno positioned nearby, Touwa raised his flute and played a soft yet resonant melody, channeling chakra to create a Harmonic Barrier around all of them, once again. This shield of protective sound energy would deflect low-level attacks, keeping them insulated from sudden assaults and ensuring that neither of them would be caught off guard.

When Ameko’s silhouette emerged again through the trees, Touwa’s tune shifted to sharper, more intense notes, activating Echoing Slicer. Waves of sound cut through the air, targeting her flank to nudge her into a defensive stance. He calculated that any misstep might lead her into one of the traps Kaoru had prepared nearby, subtly reducing her escape routes.

Remaining nimble with his Wind Walk technique, Touwa glided over the forest floor, trying to stay concealed as he repositioned to keep a clear line of attack. This mobility allowed him to continuously adjust the trajectory of the Echoing Slicer, hoping that any evasive move by Ameko would either lead her into a trap or at least force her into a hasty, less controlled response.

Sadako was moving quickly and her situational awareness had never been something she’d honed to a knife’s edge, but she was careful and precise with her movements and had already seen the nasty pit trap that Ameko’s hyena had fallen into, so she knew what to look out for—more or less. This pit trap in particular had been covered up by days or weeks of vegetation, even with the radiating damage from her big booms, and by the time she noticed it her foot was already halfway over the trigger, and she only just saved herself from impalement by a razor-thin margin and the deft application of a use of quick rotation.

She was off-balance, heart pounding in her chest and adrenaline rushing through her veins; she’d felt her ankle twist, her body nearly crumple and fall into the pit, and one wrong step there would mean she was done for. It left her vulnerable, critically so; the scant few seconds it took for her to right herself and keep from falling into the trap would be plenty of time for Kaoru to press the advantage. Wittingly or not, Sadako had sacrificed her momentum to save her own skin, and now she’d have to swallow the consequences.

Rain kept coming down in fat wet droplets over her head, the barest thread of chakra keeping the technique fed and soaking down the ground around her--maybe muddying the dirt would reveal more traps that she hadn't yet blown up or spotted.

When timed, the user can twist themselves abruptly out of the way of an attack. Like a speedy side-step, but a rotation of one's body to the side. A spin-move. This is only attacks in an immediate vicinity(three meters) anything else is too big an attack. Usually Taijutsu, but sometimes this technique is effective against close-range ninjutsu.

The bushin technique creates clones. This technique attempts to do much the same, without actually needing to create clones. Instead, it causes the victim to hallucinate and see multiple images of the user, each with a swaying bell hanging from their waist. These images are not independent clones, and simply do the exact motions of the user. Because it will be difficult to tell the real one apart from the illusions, the user can take advantage of this and attack the target without much trouble.

To activate this technique one must perform two hand seals, causing the once-clear skies to darken. The jutsu summons a storm cloud capable of bringing rain. The rain can make footing less certain because it slickens the terrain with water or mud.

The log traps activated, and while her speed proved somewhat useful at avoiding them, Ameko was fighting not only the forest itself, but two opponents. A shrieking tune once again cut through the air, and then it cut through her arm. She had been so focused on trying to find stable footing while she travelled, that she had neglected her flanks. The pain sent her off course, and it was only through a rapid shift of momentum that she avoided further hits, taking a defensive position as she landed against another tree. But as she pushed off, her speed slowed, and it was Yuno’s turn to strike. One final push, one final leap, but it would be almost all for naught. Thick syrupy water struck out against her other arm, condensing around her other arm and dragging it downward with the excess weight. With such a shift, she too found herself falling. She hit the ground hard, and the ground beneath her failed. Foliage gave way to nothingness, as she landed upon one of the spike traps. She fell into the pit. The spikes did not hit anything vital, but they hit just about everything else. The scream that left Ameko’s mouth was more beast than human, halfway between cackle and pain. Her neurons flared, and she could barely move. But as her brain began to shut down, it was all she could do to action one last act of spite. A shaking hand would draw a kunai, and throw it at the first shape she saw look over the pit. It would not be a particularly strong throw but a throw nonetheless. Perhaps serving as a distraction as team leader was not the brightest idea, but no plan survived first contact. Such was life.

Birds were coming to peck at his flags- Which gave him a strong indication that his enemy had some sort of animals at work here. Maybe summons? But summons wouldn't allow an opponent to control so many birds at once... There had to be something more to it.

Crouching down, Taro had to act fast. But that was fine. He was pretty quick on his feet, and knew how to improvise. To that end, he'd also prepared for this. Strategically, he'd set up explosive tags beforehand to guard the flags. They were not close enough to damage the flags themselves- Which meant their explosive power was overall reduced- But the shockwave they could emit would be enough to send anyone who was attempting to leap for the flags off their designated path...

Or, in the case of a small bird, it might be far more brutal. Truth be told, Taro didn't know if his opponent had left his summon alive. If he knew the man had shown mercy to his summons, he likely would have done the same for this persons birds. But at this point, he could only assume- And mercy wasn't something one assumed on a battlefield.

Still, he held a deep sense of regret as he triggered the tags. Only one would explode as the bird attempted to grab a flag, likely sending them far off their target and knocking them out of the sky- If not hurting them outright. He'd make this clear to the rest- Use him an example, if he must- If they tried to go for the flags, they'd all suffer similar fates.

All the while, he began to set up a trap of his own, forming a set of five seals before calmly pressing his palms against the wood he was hiding behind.
