Yukimura Ichiro POSITION: Daimyo of Yukigakure. RANK: Civilian. SPECIALIZATION: Communication. AGE: 68. HISTORY: The Yukimura family has ruled soundly over the land of snow for as long as history can remember, a strong family which brought consistency and life to a frozen desert and made it into a habitable space. The Daimyo lineage has long had a complicated relationship with Yukigakure. Their alliance was not one formed out of desire or mutual respect, but necessity. The founding clans of Yukigakure, led by Tayuya Odo, threatened the Yukimura's people if they were not granted rights to settle and build their village. This is not a legacy which Ichiro, first born son of this generation's Yukimura, has forgotten, and he keeps a watchful eye on Yukigakure for this reason, refusing to allow them out of step. PERSONALITY: A severe and prideful man, Ichiro is not one to bow to others' whims easily. Like his family before him, he is hardheaded. Truly the kind of person who could stumble upon the shores of a frozen continent and decide to make it a home. Ichiro prospers through adversity and performs immensely well under pressure. He can be mistrustful, demanding, and strict. He excels in the realm of communication, but tends towards intimidation more than charm. Still, he is straightforward, honest, and not one to play games. This can make understanding his perspective very easy, even if he may leave diplomats shaking in their boots. HISTORY: The adoptive daughter of Lady Fifth of Yukigakure, Asa was orphaned when her parents, traveling merchants, made the trip to Yuki no Kuni to ply their wares. They were crushed under their caravan when their horse fled into the tundra and left Asa alone to fend for herself in the wilderness. She became something of a local legend, stories told about a monster in the ice who killed caribou. She was found one fateful day by Yuki Shuka and taken in, raised as the woman's own daughter, and trained in the ways of the shinobi. PERSONALITY: After many years of trauma and fighting to survive, Asa is finally in a position to have a personality. However, she is quite uncertain of what other people really do. She has a lot of social maladaptation due to living alone for so long. The only person she trusts implicitly is her adoptive mother, Yuki Shuka, but even that is a distant, cautious trust. She is a loner by nature, and dislikes others' company, even when she should really accept it. Isolation is a comfortable kind of frost for her. She finds animals much easier for her to understand than people. She likens herself to one on many occasions, when one can corner her long enough to get her talking about herself. She sees herself as a creature of pure instinct- even though she isn’t. She’s still a person, but that depersonalization colors all of her interactions. Asa is quite capable in her own abilities, and possesses a high self esteem with regards to that. Despite what one might expect, she is not the type to beat herself over her inability to talk to other people. She sees herself as the sum of her skills, and doesn’t consider social graces to be worth developing. Those don’t help you on the tundra. Dai Ri POSITION: Warden of Yukigakure/Chief Interrogator. RANK: Jounin. SPECIALIZATION: Genjutsu Sole. AGE: 59. HISTORY: Interrogation is an art form that was passed down within Dai Ri's family. His family came from no clan and had no secret techniques or special skills. As such, they decided to specialize in back end work, the dirty work that helps society to run smoothly even as others do not see it. Dai Ri gained an appreciation for this work from a young age, glad to sully his hands to protect his village and keep other people's hands clean. He has been warden of Yukigakure's underground prison for decades now and knows the shifting structure like the back of his hand, better than anyone else could. He has a terrible reputation with criminals and many would like to see him dead. PERSONALITY: Dai Ri, despite his rather secluded existence within the walls of Yukigakure's prison, located deep underground, is a rather known figure. All genin have met him at least once, as he conducts a class on interrogation and defense against genjutsu as part of the regular academy syllabus. He is an eerie individual with an odd sense of humor, who, never the less, enjoys company. He acts in a sophisticated tone and likes to lecture. He views his task as that which requires skill and class, and strongly frowns on those who see his art as something limited only to breaking fingers and pulling out nails. RANK: Jounin. SPECIALIZATION: Generalist. AGE: Unknown. HISTORY: Little is known about Kabuto - even among other GOKA operatives, her identity is a mystery. She arrives on the field, delivering important messages or providing helpful information. Her participation in a mission indicates that the mission is either of tremendous importance or incredibly dangerous. PERSONALITY: Kabuto is a stoic and unresponsive individual, often neglecting or ignoring conversation outright. She keeps her responses to a minimum and is focused entirely on her task. She will finish her mission by any means necessary, though those who work with her often may notice flashes of compassion, however briefly. She's difficult to read behind that mask. RANK: "Civilian"(/Jounin). SPECIALIZATION: Medical Ninjutsu primary, Taijutsu secondary. AGE: 66. HISTORY: Kaizen never served a formal tenure as a member of Yukigakure's military force, spending the majority of his life dedicated to the Yoi clan's research, experimenting on younger members of the clan to further their physical enhancements and make a fighting force of them. This does not mean that he has not trained and built his own strength, though he certainly does his best to look the part of a simple scientist and clan politician. Kaizen has tremendous influence over his clan and has historically utilized it to push Yoi members into high places in Yukigakure, even plying the ear of the Third Lady of Yukigakure during her reign. Though he has never engaged in any directly shady behavior, many in Yukigakure have watchful eyes on Kaizen and his ilk. PERSONALITY: Yoi Kaizen is a mysterious figure, a man who hides his intentions behind both a literal and social mask. Polite, acquiescent, and startlingly intelligent, Kaizen is the kind of man you could ask for advice on any question... provided you trusted him with the information. Despite the whispers that surround the enigmatic man, he is a brilliant researcher who has done many things to advance the Yoi clan and helped Yukigakure as a byproduct of such. Hiyakki Kabuto POSITION: Councilman. RANK: Civilian. SPECIALIZATION: Academics. AGE: 40. HISTORY: A career politician more than a shinobi, Kabuto has nonetheless spent the majority of his life working in Yukigakure. He became a favorite of the Daimyo early in his political career and was subsequently positioned in Yukigakure, directed with ensuring the Daimyo's will was carried out. He has since studied tactics and been an observer on many missions, coming to understand the theory of battle even if he is not quite skilled at it. After the passing of the Lady Second of Yukigakure, he vied for the position of Third Lord, but was beaten out by Yoi Saya. For the duration of her leadership, the two were often at odds. When the extent of Saya's military efforts and her intentions to invade Hoshigakure were unveiled, he was one of many council members who moved to oust her. PERSONALITY: Kabuto is a bold and opinionated man who is not afraid to speak his mind. He can become very impassioned on political matters and cuts right to the heart of things. Much like the Daimyo who chose him to represent his interests, he can be hardheaded and set in the old ways. He keeps a very keen eye out and is quick to report back to the Daimyo anything suspect or untoward. He has a very hostile relationship with the Yoi, though neither is in a position to move on the other because of their connections within Yukigakure. Fume Oda POSITION: Captain of the Navy. RANK: Jounin. SPECIALIZATION: Bukijutsu primary, Taijutsu secondary. AGE: 63. HISTORY: Reaching his position as captain in the navy was no easy feat for Oda. Often passed over by more influential shinobi from prominent clans, he had to fight tooth and nail for his recognition and respect. Sailing as a naval officer for decades, Oda is very storied in his fights against pirates and mercenaries and when it comes to vessels captured, his numbers are almost unmatched. He is often at odds with his younger brother, a naval officer of much iller repute. PERSONALITY: Ambitious almost to a fault, Oda sees the clear perfect line of his wish and stops at nothing to make it come true. If he sets his mind to something, it is getting done, come hell or high water. He would rather die than come home a failure. This means he can have incredibly high expectations for the shinobi who serve under him and can get into trouble. He also has a habit of drinking and speaking his mind freely to higher-ups, including the leaders of the land, which has landed him in hot water. HISTORY: Oda's younger brother, the much less ambitious Kaito has always stood in his brother's shadow. He joined the navy on his brother's back, making use of his brother's reputation to build a name for himself. Unlike Oda, he has none of the dedication and none of the skill. His position in the military has stagnated for a long while and he has demonstrated no interest in advancement. Of late, he has been getting into shadier dealings. PERSONALITY: Kaito is resentful of his brother's ambition and success and seeks to make use of it to his own ends. He knows that his brother feels a responsibility for his failures and will exploit this fact. Though not as rambunctious as his elder brother, he is every bit as much of a trouble maker, possibly even more so. He does his job to the exact standards he needs to to avoid being fired and not an ounce more. And if he's been a little too friendly with pirates, lately, well, maybe you'll look the other way for some coin. Yoi Akai POSITION: Senior Diplomat. RANK: Jounin. SPECIALIZATION: Fuinjutsu primary, Taijutsu secondary. AGE: 41. HISTORY: A member of the Yoi clan's Control Branch and a long-standing member of the diplomatic corps, Akai has made a name for herself in Yukigakure and outside of it. People often refer to her as "The Lady in White." She is often called in for diplomatic situations which require the most delicacy. PERSONALITY: Seeming reserved and cautious, Akai often comes across as cold and removed from others. However, she harbors a deep empathetic side and works with many charities, using the money she earns from her position to fund orphanages and help the less fortunate. Kogitsune Minamoto POSITION: Junior Diplomat. RANK: Special Jounin. SPECIALIZATION: Fuinjutsu primary, Genjutsu secondary. AGE: 33. HISTORY: The subject of many whispers, Minamoto made a name for himself by being one of the first ever members of the diplomatic corps not to come from a major clan. It took the patronage of Akai to make this happen - as she took him under her wing eight years ago and has been developing his skills ever since. Many people speculate about the man - that he represents some criminal interests, that he has an untoward relationship with his mentor, or that he's simply her lap dog, picking up the tasks she finds beneath her. The truth of the matter is much more simple. Minamoto was born into poverty and had few opportunities. Akai helped him reach heights he never would have alone. He is grateful to her for her help, though he has become embroiled in some interesting clan politics because of it. PERSONALITY: Minamoto is jovial and good-spirited, a very friendly face and one to crack many jokes. He's smart and dedicated to his work, always eager to learn and eager to help. He tries not to let the rumors and whispers about him get to him and is as inclined as anyone else to crack jokes about the subject. He takes criticism of Akai and implications that she's doing anything wrong less kindly, however. Yoi Onigumo POSITION: Academy Instructor. RANK: Chuunin. SPECIALIZATION: Medical Ninjutsu primary, Ninjutsu secondary. AGE: 34. HISTORY: Much less interested in field work and more interested in shaping the next generation of shinobi, Onigumo took on the role of academy instructor at a young age and stuck with it, staying in the role through many classes of academy students. His classes have a way of being incredibly "exciting," with students far more likely to run into trouble or accidents while under his care. Onigumo has chalked this up to bad luck and investigations have never uncovered anything, so he remains in his spot. It's better than bringing his bad luck to the field, right? PERSONALITY: Onigumo presents himself as a quirky and cheerful person that always has a smile on his face. However, that smile usually creeps people out rather than makes them think of him as trustworthy. He's very curious and enjoys pushing his students, trying to help them to reach their potential, though some get the feeling that if he was allowed to medically experiment on them, he most certainly would. Things just tend to go wrong around him, but he doesn't seem to let it get him down, for some reason... FACE CLAIM: Gin Ichimaru from Bleach. Yoi Akihiro POSITION: Operations Team Member. RANK: Chuunin. SPECIALIZATION: Bukijutsu primary, Ninjutsu secondary. AGE: 20. HISTORY: An unremarkable member of the Yoi clan, Akihiro can be described as average in every nearly aspect of his capabilities - from weapon mastery to battle prowess. In his own clan, he is shunned because of his perceived mediocrity. Despite that, he has a good mind on his shoulders and would have made an excellent addition to the scientist caste had he not been born to become a soldier of the clan. PERSONALITY: Although aloof, cold, and rational on the outside, he has shown more emotions than his fellow clansmen from the soldier caste. Out of perceived weakness and mediocrity, he often lurks the training grounds in order to challenge people into duels, as victories make him feel better about himself. He often succeeds, and has the reputation of a bully because of it. HISTORY: Doppo has had a perfectly average and ordinary trip through the ranks of shinobi. He is an expert in tracking, a skillset which is often useful in the tundras of Yuki no Kuni. However, lacking ambition, he has not advanced his position much farther than he currently is and seems liable to stagnate. At least he's comfortable where he is. PERSONALITY: Awkward and clumsy, Doppo is a man that people struggle to take seriously, and he resents it. He is capable in his own right, a competent and powerful shinobi, but people often dismiss him out of hand or look down upon him. When he's given time to shine and a team that trusts him, he can be a valuable asset, but given a team that refuses to hear him out, he's likely to freeze. Bolad Gan POSITION: Emperor of Ranmantaru. RANK: Elite Jounin. SPECIALIZATION: Bukijutsu Sole. AGE: 50. HISTORY: The Emperor of Ranmantaru is a very private man. He does not speak the language of the mainland shinobi villages, so has shared little of his story through translators. Gan has married a member of the Yoi clan and this wedlock allowed Yukigakure to make a deal with them for the supply of Ranmantaru steel. PERSONALITY: One is lucky if they are ever given the opportunity to speak with Gan directly instead of to one of his many advisors. He is severe, strict, and humorless. Slights against him are not taken mildly. Around his wife, he softens slightly. Despite the political nature of their marriage, it seems he's quite in love with her. HISTORY: Suiko was married to Emperor Gan during the era of peace in Yukigakure and her betrothal helped secure the favorable trade agreements between Ranmantaru and Yukigakure. She rose quite quickly in the eyes of Ranmantaru's public, being seen as an impressive political figure and a beloved member of the royal family. She still visits Yukigakure very frequently to spend time with her clansmen and her bodyguard entourages are enormous. PERSONALITY: Suiko is every bit her partner's match, a stern and severe seeming woman with high ambitions. She knows her capabilities and is very confident, sometimes seeming condescending. Intelligent and an expert in social manuevering, Suiko is beloved by some and respected by most. Despite her marriage into the Ranmantaru royal family, her committment to the Yoi clan seems as strong as ever.
