A cheap, nervous laugh would come from Asahi as he heard the tower was maybe good for another two or so uses. It was more than cutting it close in his eyes and he could only hope that Arashi had begun to look for alternatives; perhaps that was something he could do to help her out going forward. He'd need to get a good look at the place once they reached the top to try and find something similar and he was reminded about the need for plenty of space; which seemed ironic considering the method in which Arashi kept Shukaku in check during a full moon, but he wasn't gonna open that can of worms.

The chunin would follow behind the girl up the ladder and it was then that he could begin to feel the lean of the building, having to put a bit more force to one side to keep himself upright as he climbed. They were certainly ascending quite a ways but it was probably for the best to dissuade any would be trespassers from wandering into a situation that would probably get them hurt, or worse...

In time the two would reach a veritable hole in the wall where Arashi would call her haven for the remainder of the night. It quite literally looked like the end result of some kind of blast that just happened to open up a room suitable for the girls needs. Life was funny like that. Well, if it worked for her Asahi wasn't going to complain too much though as he looked around the room his eyes caught site of what looked to be very old tapestries with the symbol of the Chikamatsu etched upon them. "This place really is old..." Well that was certainly interesting, an old stronghold of theirs perhaps? It'd make sense they'd need somewhere safe to hide while sending their puppets out to battle, and while it was just a guess it seemed that someone had figured them out judging from the literal hole in the wall.

He would hear Arashi explaining to him the dangers of not leaving when things started getting hairy and while normally the last thing Asahi would have wanted was to be stuck in a room with a rampaging Shukaku for an entire night the thought of being here for Arashi was floating around somewhere in the back of his head. No no, he'd just be a liability for her to worry about and besides, it wasn't like he was strong enough to hold up against that thing to begin with. Hell, a group of bandits had nearly ended him in Sekara and if it wasn't for Shukaku wrestling away control there was a good chance the chunin wouldn't be standing in this crooked tower. But that was just a sign that he needed to get stronger.

"Not to worry, being stuck in a room with a tailed beast isn't something I plan on doing... again..." His mind flashed back to the final round of the chunin exams and his run in with the Nibi. It was honestly the first time Asahi believed he was possibly going to die and if not for that kid from Kumo there was a decent chance that would have come to fruition. "Hm? Oh yeah, good idea." Listening to the girls plan, the young Kyokujitsu would take a few steps back to avoid being caught up in any of the sealing traps she was about to start laying. Keeping the beast in one place and away from any exits was the name of the game and while some of that type of fuinjutsu the boy did know there was much he needed to learn in the realm of repulsion.

In any other situation the amount of seals Arashi was placing may have seemed excessive or as if she was planning for a battle with dozens of combatants but it only spoke to the sheer power that the tailed beast held. He would, however, take note of what all she was doing to be able to help next time, in addition to forming a solid foundation on what to focus on in his studies of the sealing arts.

"I dated it back to at least the end of the Second Shinobi war, though it might have been attacked during the Third...."

Looking over in his direction, she'd smile briefly before allowing a breath to escape from her lips, her expression during more serious as she had to focus. With her curse marks blinking only for a moment, the right seal appeared upon her palms as she slammed them down upon the ground beneath her. It would only take a moment for the tendrils of sand to rise up from the surface, each one thin in shape, yet branching into the hundreds. Within seconds, they would latch upon her lower limbs, much like they were vines and she were a tree. Seconds later, they would start to harden in into place as she sat herself down, watching as three large sand petals would bloom out from around her, laid upon the ground open as if freshly blossomed from the earth.

Partially closing around her, it was open enough that she could at least still see the youth close by, yet still ready to snap shut upon the sudden instant something called for them to do so. With the small flower wall between them, Arashi would close her eyes as she then looked out at the view before then looking back at Asahi with her toothy grin.

"This..is a technique I came up with after looking over some scrolls dealing with implementation of Fuinijutsu when combined with elemental properties. It allows for these petals here to close the moment I know something is happening and it will remain shut until I allow it..."

She thought she might also tell him how the explosive aspect of this, but it was only as a last resort. The way Arashi saw it, if there was ever a moment in which it appeared that she might very well lose control completely, the best thing she could do for everyone was to take herself out with Shukaku. Sure, he'd live on, but at least he wouldn't be on a rampage either.

From there, the girl would point toward the walls of the entrance they had taken to get in, her expression narrowed as she then held a calm look on her face.

"And remember the two seals I placed over on the walls...those are for the Repulsion seal, only redirected to work only in here...so ya able to get out, but I can't..."

Crossing her arms over her chest, there was cheeky expression over her face as she nodded to herself as if noting how smart she was for just a second.

"Not a bad cage huh?"

The place was older than he guessed and had somehow made it through not one but two wars which was pretty amazing, there was little wonder Arashi chose it for her isolation. However, even such a stalwart building could but only hold up for so long against the powerful throes of a tailed beast trying its hardest to break itself out. "Have you found any possible replacements for when this place finally gives in?" Asahi would ask, hoping for the best but figuring that the girl would just end up saying that she was gonna 'wing it', the sheer thought of it already giving him a headache.

He would watch as the curse marks around Arashi's body lit up for a brief moment as hundreds of sand tendrils sprouted from the floor and wrapped themselves around the girl akin to the roots of a tree; she really hadn't been kidding about keeping Shukaku in place. Next would be a semi open cage of sand petals that just left enough space for the two to see each other. Three layers of defense seemed excessive for any other situation but it was probably just enough to keep the beast at bay. It was truly impressive what all Arashi had been able to develop with her abilities and she was well on her way to becoming one of the strongest shinobi in the world. Of course, with her head already at gargantuan proportions Ashai was never going to tell her that...

"Wow. Sounds like you've got it all covered. How much of... 'this' is usually left after nights like this?" He'd reply while looking over the multitude of reinforcements placed around the room before his eyes settled back on Arashi. The boy would pop a squat near the edge of one of the sand petals as a few thoughts ran through his head. It was a weird situation but he was more than happy to be here for Arashi and could only imagine how many times she had go at this alone. Well, that part wouldn't change but at least he could be here until the last possible minute.

"So you said you had a book about the history of Kaze no Kuni, right? Mind sharing some of the highlights?" He would ask. Though most of the country was an inhospitable wasteland a great deal of people had managed to survive over the years and there was a ton of history to go along with them, granted there was surely a good amount that was buried underneath the ever shifting sands but anything able to be written down was definitely worth hearing about; and if he could keep Arashi's mind --and his own-- off of what was to come for a little bit longer that was all the better.

"Ummmmmmm....Heh heh....none?"

With a sheepish grin, the girl showed that as smart as she may have been, she didn't actually look too far ahead at some other options. The fact that this place had held up for so long had proved to her that it could withstand something like Shukaku. But with it already starting to lean, there was only a certain number of times in which it could possibly remain standing. Sure, Arashi could probably attempt at rebuilding it later, but that would take time and that was something that she limited hours of.

Between working at the school, as well as looking after her siblings, even she couldn't be at two places at once. Well, she could, but the fact would be that it wouldn't be exactly right. Clones could do a lot of things, but without direct instruction, it would be a wasted effort.

And this place deserved full attention with what it had been through...

Sieges, possible looting, attacks from all around it. It was living, breathing history in solid form...

And yet she was using it as a bunker....irony...considering her love of such things...

"I'm sure I'll find somethin..this place is littered with areas....probably some deep...deeper...in..okay I get what ya saying.."

Holding her finger up for a moment as she pointed toward him to show that she did understand, the teen would then sigh as she shook her head.

"I just never thought it would get so bad to the point that it was leanin in on itself...I mean...I know it looks bad, but this place probably handled way way worse than me as a house-guest..."

It was a stretch to make such a claim, but then again, she couldn't exactly claim it as truth. Still, maybe it was something to consider, despite her phobia, to look for something further in.

As Asahi settled into his place, his position not too far off from one of the petals, the girl would do the same as she leaned back upon her arms, allowing the rays of light from the moon to rest close to them, allowing at least as good a view as they were going to get. Yet with the question of just how much of these defenses were left in the aftermath, the girl would blink for a moment before tapping her finger against her cheek.

"To be real....Shukaku has managed to get passed at least most of the petals save for one, but is usually always repelled by the Seal of Repulsion....Since he can't get out without my chakra, thats usually when he takes it to a more mental level. Eventually, when he realizes I'm not breaking, he just goes to town on the Sand Shield...."

The topic of Shukaku was coming up a lot, but it was required due to her responsibilities...

She had to account for everything and anything that he could do, and that meant learning from her mistakes. Every time something broke, she made sure to make it stronger. If a barrier was weaker due to impact, she had to reinforce it. It was a constant struggle of adapting and trying to build up better walls. This was her full moon period and she couldn't afford to make mistakes.

Though as Asahi attempted to change to subject, his interest toward her book coming up, the teen would blink for a moment before then shrugging her shoulders upon smiling cheerfully as she reached over toward her pack.

"Okay...."

In drawing back the binds of the cover, the girl would then lean to the side as she extended it out toward him, showing him the images that were painted upon the page.

"This is basically Rouran..the capital city that we visited before...before the Domiyo even came there, it was nothing more than just a series of pits and canyons...once the First helped to establish the clans, she eventually helped to use their gathered resources to construct the city as a place in which a head of the nation could actually sit. Not to mention make sure that practical governing of the region could be done by higher authority...."

As she leaned in a bit to look at it as well, she'd soon turn to the next page as she continued.

"According to Chono, he theorized that the established government that we use today...the trade system, the militia, the fact that Sunagakure does still have to answer to the government at the capital, was based off a military like system that was created by in familiar comparison to that of Konohagakure...only adapted to become more or less more militaristic. Thats why when someone does something wrong, it goes through a certain number of chains in the command so to speak. Ya get in trouble for looting...basically the militia....murder...investigation and if proven to be foul play...the Jounin Hancho....treason..that goes right up to the top of the food chain...the Kazekage..."

In saying this, she'd then blink as she considered her own actions...

"Considering what we did in Sekara, we got off pretty light..Kurokei-sensei is a old family friend...he literally looked after me and my brother when we were kids and made sure we stayed outta trouble...but even I didn't realize that he was an ANBU operative...he's probably up there with some of the top leads in the unit...but he could have easily taken it higher up if he wanted to...not to say that he didn't..."

Considering the lecture Arashi got in private, it hadn't gone without being heard by her parents. Which explained why she had gotten punished for it, along with her rotation duties as well.

He had prepared for bad news but tried his hardest to give Arashi at least a little benefit of the doubt. Alas, the girl had been her true self and not even begun to look into new hideouts. Granted, she was probably right that if a fortified place such as this tower existed then there were surely others like it somewhere around here, and hopefully they didn't have gaping holes in the middle... "Well, I guess that's one thing we can do before the next full moon." Asahi would reply with a nod. He would have preferred to get a jump on things before this place got too bad as it would definitely take time to thoroughly vet whatever they found and make sure it could withstand the onslaught from Shukaku.

It was scary to think that even with all this preparation the biju was able to get through a good deal of it. The petals, though made of sand, looked fairly dense but for it to get through a couple of them was unnerving. The seal of repulsion seemed to be the saving grace for Arashi (and everyone else in the village) and luckily it sounded like once Shukaku figured out he couldn't get past it without the girl he focused on taking his anger out on the sand shield which still sounded like a lot to deal with but that was a more or less straightforward storm that could be weathered. "Mm, suppose I shouldn't have expected less from a biju." The boy replied with an understanding nod.

But that was enough of the sad stuff for there was history to learn! Asahi would lean in close as he could to get a good look at the pictures in the book, on them images of the country complete with its various cities and other wards. It had been the Shodai Kazekage who was responsible for bringing together some of the scattered clans and pooling together their resources to help establish not only Suna, but the country as a whole. To think that the hustling and bustling capital was once a wasteland with nothing to show for it was honestly quite crazy but Asahi supposed that sprawling infrastructure couldn't just pop up overnight. No, it had to be planned, funded, and built, and given the less than hospitable conditions in the country it probably wasn't an easy task.

Asahi had learned about the founding of Suna and some of the other major cities during his time in the academy like most other kids, though it was generally surface level and just enough to have to memorize for a test. However, he had heard some very interesting stories about Kaze no Kuni and its development from clan elders who had roamed the deserts for most of their lives before the clan as a whole decided to join the village. Their perspectives, and sometimes opinions, were different regarding some happenings and it explained why the Kyokujitsu had been so hesitant to ally themselves with Suna in the past. Still, there was no denying the work that the first Kazekage did in helping to unify the country. "I can't imagine the amount of work it took to not only lead a village but help bring together the country, too. I mean, it's mostly desert but still..." The boy would muse aloud. Keeping up with his duties as a shinobi and tasks for the clan were more than enough for Asahi so the weight of pulling together an entire country must have been immense.

Next came the top down delegation of authority, albeit a bit skewed in the chunin's eyes given who he worked for and how it always seemed how when he and Arashi were getting a talking to for something they shouldn't have been doing it was with the Kazekage. Granted, Kuroki had handed down their punishment after the duo's jaunt in Sekara with seemingly no issue so that was all the evidence one needed to see that decisions could be handled by people other than the highest of brass. Still, putting in place systems for cities to self-govern in a way was no easy feat and it required a lot of trust to ensure things were going smoothly in one's absence, and when that trust was broken then places like Sekara popped up...

"If he hadn't given us guard duty that day I probably wouldn't believe a system like that even exists since we only ever see your dad when we get in trouble." Asahi would reply with a laugh. Perhaps that was for the best as the man was surely so busy that he could only focus so much on the troublemakers sitting before him time and time again, whereas someone like Kasumi who was more directly responsible for the shinobi would have ample time and attention. She had seemed rather bright and cheery during dinner but the chunin surmised that, much like his own mother, she was putting on a positive face in front of company.

"Looking into real estate is somethin couples do when they tie the knot ya know...Ya tryin to tell me somethin Asahi?"

In raising her brow with a smirk on her face, Arashi would tease the teen as she then looked back toward the pages of the book. She honestly had no problem with him helping her to find something better. If anything else, it might provide much stronger security and he seemed to have a better eye for details than she did at times. Plus, it never hurt to have a second opinion...

With the two seeming to dive further into the history of Kaze no Kuni, Asahi's own interest in the subject seemed to show, prompting the female to grin as she nodded in agreement to his comment of how much work it had to take to actually bring so many groups together to create the nation that they knew now. If anything, it should have been impossible. But somehow, Oonakayama Sumiyie had found a way to unite them.

"Sumiyie had managed to fight a lot of the clans within Kaze no Kuni and brought them together, though it wasn't exactly through negotiation..."

The truth was much more dire, as it showed that many of the communication between these groups in the past had been through conflict and intimidation. Though when you can literally control an element that no one else had yet to figure out, you could easily get away with anything. Something that, from her mild conversation with the woman, had been something that she regretted somewhat.

"Sure, this place is still mostly desert, but it could have been a lot worse...Granted the Saeko Clan like living as nomads, but I imagine most of the village wouldn't be too keen on living in what is more or less a camp site with huts in the middle of the desert...but that was basically how it all started..then we got all this..."

Looking at some of the old designs displayed upon the pages, she could see that one of the most unchanged of the structures had to be the Kage Tower, which was basically the same if not modernized a tad bit.

It made sense with the development of their more militarize society and way of life. Which came to the suggestion that if it hadn't been for that, they could have easily been in worse shape. Thankfully, the ties of family and her position in the village made it a bit more tricky. Still, lectures and guard rotations were the least they deserved with what happened. If she could take it back, she would have in a heart-beat after finding out the kind of friend Panji turned out to be.

"Honestly, I'm just glad it wasn't my mom...we'd have gotten demoted and sent back to the academy...if not discharged...though my dad might have done a lot worse if he wasn't so busy..."

Leaning back slightly, the girl would release a breath before closing her eyes.

There were times that the girl did miss the one on one conversations with her father, but she had come to understand a long time ago that the village had to come first. No matter how much trouble she may have gotten into, if he had to come in, it didn't always end with a slap on the wrist or a lecture. Usually, privileges were taken and restrictions were imposed. Her mother had a more practical approach, as she would act as a commander when it came to village affairs and a mother when it came to things at home. Often, when Arashi had managed to cross that line, it was harsh militarily and much worse at home...usually with a more lengthy conversation upon being responsible and more careful.

"Kinda weird that I usually only see him when he gets home now...guess hes as busy as ever..."

A part often thought that she did a lot of the things she did just to get his attention...that and the thrill of adventure. But, maybe she was attempting to get some kind of reaction from him or at least some sign that the bond that they shared was still there. Sure, expeditions to lost tombs were great, but was the really the only thing the two had in common anymore? Being history nuts?

Pushing that thought to the side, the teen would then grin as she pushed herself to an upright seated position, remembering the threads holding her legs in place as she adjusted her posture so that she was on her knees as she looked to Asahi.

"Anyway! Enough history lectures..tell me more about your story with Tiger-6 and Death-Sickle. Ya said they came from a story right? Whats the story with those guys?"
