He mixes endurance training with a bit of Kenjutsu, while he also thinks a little bit about a combo technique that he wants to try out later. Last, but not least, he commits some time to training his breathing and the concentration and focus that breathing the same rhythm at all times requires, regardless of how stressed and strained his body had gotten. It taught him a few things about the concept of concentrating, and it also gave him a hint to what real concentration felt like...

Imitations Of Strength RANK OF TRAINING: C-Rank RANK OF SHINOBI: Genin (Adv.) JUTSU BEING LEARNED: Training for EXP Only SENSEI BONUS: Yes LINK TO THREAD: Imitations Of Strength DESCRIPTION: After their mission with the cave-dwelling creatures, Kojirou sought Shigure-senpai’s assistance with some training. What Kojirou wasn’t prepared for was the Chūnin’s great movement speed, far eclipsing his own speed, which forced the young Honō to be on his toes and press himself to his very limits at all times. Fighting someone of that caliber required the swordsman to strengthen his instincts and reflexes mid-combat, and it felt like he had exceeded his own expectations at the end of their spar. The young swordsman had now obtained experience fighting a skilled Hyūga and had accomplished his goal for that day.

The Hills Have Eyes MISSION RANK: C-Rank NPC REQUIRED: N/A RANDOM MISSION SCENARIO: Disabled PARTICIPANTS: Hyūga Shigure @yamo Honō Kojirou DESCRIPTION: Shigure-senpai accompanied Kojirou and Koume on a cooperative mission between the Hidden Leaf Village and the Hidden Grass Village. The mission beckoned them to take down beasts who had attacked a distant, smaller village further out in the Field Country, a type of mission not unfamiliar to the young swordsman. Shigure-senpai was always a step ahead of the two others, and his speed was beyond just impressive. It looked as if he and Koume knew each other from before… but that was none of Kojirou’s business. When facing these beasts, Kojirou didn’t waver. Once again, he just let his body do the fighting that it was so used to, effectively taking down two of the creatures located in a cave not too far away from said attacked village. With Shigure-senpai’s leadership and Koume’s cooperation, the team was able to lay waste to the alien-like entities and crash their cave down… but what escaped Kojirou’s eyes didn’t escape Shigure-senpai’s, and it appeared that further investigations were prompted. Something felt off from the cave… as if it was hiding far more than what had been shown. But Kojirou can trust his skills and limbs to bring him through any challenge.

Sky Above, Breath Within RANK OF TRAINING: D-Rank RANK OF SHINOBI: Genin (Adv.) JUTSU BEING LEARNED: Training for EXP Only SENSEI BONUS: Yes LINK TO THREAD: Sky Above, Breath Within DESCRIPTION: Kojirou went on with his day in an attempt to practice the art of channeling chakra through his katana via Kenjin Nōdo, a swordsmanship that relies heavily on such an ability. However, he’s still a green specialist and is reprimanded by a shinobi from Kumogakure named Kizumi-sama for not taking better care of his weapon. Her interference leads to her giving the young swordsman some good tips on how to focus his breathing, and how big a difference his breathing makes in the control of his flowing chakra. With this in mind, he’s taught to increase his lung capacity and endurance via both aerobic exercises and meditation.

Note for future - sensei bonus is for the teacher, not the student (to incentivize people playing older shinobi to interact with the younger generation as mentors!) So for this kind of training, you would mark No.

Forge The Mountain Path MISSION RANK: C-Rank NPC REQUIRED: N/A RANDOM MISSION SCENARIO: Disabled PARTICIPANTS: Aburame Azarea Honō Kojirou DESCRIPTION: Azarea from the Hidden Cloud and Kojirou from the Hidden Grass have both met up, geared and ready to travel from the Land of Fields up to the Land of Lightning. Being one of the few opportunities for Kojirou to travel abroad, they make a short stop at an onsen before finally arriving at the natural mountain pass – immediately met with hostility from foreign bandits with bows and arrows, the two make short work of the enemies present and make sure to eliminate them all before they can flee to prove a danger to the future of the new outpost. Before they can begin their work, an avalanche surprises the two shinobi. However, thanks to Azarea’s quick thinking, they make use of a slightly hollow cliff side to escape the falling ravine of snow unscathed. The area where they hid themselves ultimately proved to be an optimal location for an outpost, securing the future import of nice things such as kebab, kebab, kebab, kebab, and…

Spirit of the Dead RANK OF TRAINING: D-Rank RANK OF SHINOBI: Genin (Adv.) JUTSU BEING LEARNED: Training for EXP Only SENSEI BONUS: No LINK TO THREAD: Spirit of the Dead DESCRIPTION: Kojirou randomly stumbled upon a cavern on his way to Kuwana. Inside the cavern, he met a Missing Nin named Ahma, a practitioner of Shōton and an advocate against the global shinobi system. Upon learning to know Kojirou, she strongly suggests that he stops following this ninja path and, instead, finds his own goal in life that will bring him happiness. She clearly hates the shinobi system and what it did to her and her family, but she is still kind enough to lend him a hand with practicing both his Chakra Control through his katana as well as a new Bukijutsu. Her Shōton is marvelous, but she lets him leave with a heavy load of questions in his head... what does he want in life? To be a tool, or to find out who he wants to be?

A Race of Clans RANK OF TRAINING: D-Rank RANK OF SHINOBI: Genin (Adv.) JUTSU BEING LEARNED: Training for EXP Only SENSEI BONUS: No LINK TO THREAD: A Race of Clans DESCRIPTION: Kojirou, being too unaccustomed to Tsuchi no Kuni’s almost grass-less climate, ‘tall as hell’ buildings and many other cultural hotspots, finds himself lost in Kuwana and stumbles upon Murahira Hana, another participant for this year’s Chūnin Exams. Shortly, they speculate about the unknown challenges awaiting them at the Exams, bringing up the possibility of a race – therefore, to better ready up for the approaching trials, they initiate a race to the tallest building at the heart of Kuwana. Hana shows her superiority in the speed department, but at one point, Kojirou attempts to turn himself into a human slingshot – despite the waste of chakra, he still doesn’t catch up to her fully. A Summoning Jutsu also proves to be a waste of chakra, since Shūsuke doesn’t want to support Kojirou cheating. In the end, however, Kojirou realizes that he had much more chakra to use than predicted, and he uses this revelation to sling himself up the tower with multiple Rubber Rope Jutsus. Only at the very end does he nearly convince himself that his newfound chakra limits have given him a win, until he sees that Hana finished the race dozens of seconds before him…

Clear Skies MISSION RANK: C-Rank NPC REQUIRED: N/A RANDOM MISSION SCENARIO: Disabled PARTICIPANTS: Yamanaka Itsuki Honō Kojirou DESCRIPTION: Missing messenger birds are disturbing communications meant to be sent to Konohagakure, last spotted passing over the Land of Wind. The Konoha-nin Yamanaka Itsuki, with the help of the Kusa-nin Honō Kojirou, travel across the lands to reach the Land of Wind, and thanks to traps laid out by bandits, they pinpoint a canyon with caverns on the near top of the precipices where bandits hurl rocks down to squash them. Itsuki's clairvoyant prowess alllows the two shinobi to avoid the rocks and make quick work of the hostile enemies, which leads to them discovering a cage containing multiple dead messenger birds, mostly malnourished and mistreated - however, one of them is still alive and kicking. Suspicious of the motivation behind such a cruel action, they keep one enemy alive and interrogate him swiftly, surprised to see how cooperative he is now that the cat's out of the bag. After revealing letters and bills from a certain, private individual who orchestrated this ordeal, the hostage is executed by Itsuki, and the caverns rid of evidence. The last bird is freed to continue its journey to the Land of Fire, along with the two shinobi.
