Suzaku hadn't been expecting a boat ride in the middle of the Village Hidden in the Mountains. It was about as opposite of a mountain as you could get really. Yet here the boy was, rocking back and forth, his wild reddish-orange hair swaying wildly with each movement. The boy wasn't used too boat rides, and it was showing, as the boy was getting more nauseaus looking the more the boat ride went on. But it wasn't the rocking back and forth by itself that bugged the boy the most, it was watching it all, seeing the boat pitch in slow motion, his brain able to process each movement so fast it was like he could see, could feel every iota of movement. It wasn't fun.
Nervous perhaps? A voice whispered in the boys ear.
Or is it something else? Another voice, this time in the boys opposite ear, similiar yet different. The boy did his best too ignore them, ignore the voices. As for anyone near him, they wouldn't hear any voices, tormenting the poor boy. Instead they would hear quiet chattering and clicks of beak, as on both his shoulders sat two crows.
Good thing you didn't eat, yes? Oooh, food does sound good now. Fresh noodles someone left on the ground carelessly perhaps. The boy let out a groan at that.
I hate you both... For the boy wasn't haunted by voices inside his head, but instead by two very real twerps. And as their mocking caws filled the ship, Suzaku could understand that they were laughing at his misery, as the amber eyed boy could speak too birds.
Thankfully the boat ride wasn't too long, and even more thankfully he hadn't gotten sick despite the best efforts of his two companions and familiars, Ja and Dō. He was however looking a bit paler when his fellow Kumogakure participant Azarea approached him as they were off boarding that god Forsaken boat. Her dark red hair contrasting with his own reddish orange, he'd look up to her scarred face as the girl offered an alliance.
Huh? O-Oh...Uhh. Ok, yeah sure... The boy was equally surprised and nervous, and it showed in his awkward response, though that wasn't unusual for the very awkward boy.
Such a response is sure too inspire confidence. Shut up... The boy mumbled in response at the corvids teasing.
The trail up would be tedious but mercifully less eventful than the boat ride, and eventually they would all arrive at their destination. Which was not Kuwana? The boys confusion would be cleared however as the first part of the chunin exams was finally revealed, a race too Kuwana. Where the goal was too avoid being caught by sentries, and at this point Suzaku was perking up quite a bit more. Scouting was his specialty, and not even the two jackanapes on his shoulders could change that. And as the proctor went over the routes, the boys smile only grew bigger. True, he couldn't water run or tree climb yet, but an open field? With his eyes he'd be able to see everything just by himself, let alone with Dō scouting in the skies.
It seems you are lucky I am here. The crow on his right shoulder seemed too come to the same realization, though also took all the credit for their advantages. But the boy didn't care, as long as he passed they could hog all the glory.
And then they were off, and Suzaku saw the crimson-haired Azarea signaling him as she too entered the
LEFT PLAINS ROUTE. The relief on the boys face was visible, it seemed she'd decided on the same path he had. Things kept getting better and better. And as they ran, the girl went over her plans, Suzaku nodded along.
Oh! Y-Yeah sure! No problem! Though first. Dō how many are with us? The boy had seen others join them, but hadn't kept track of how many.
Seven. While Suzaku might not have been keeping track, the unblinking eyes of the crow with him had.
Alright. If we're underground, try and keep low so we can hear you when giving us the all clear. Worst comes too worst, just peck on the ground. Now, go!! And with that, the bird would take flight. While they both might love teasing and mocking the boy, their bond and loyalty was absolute. And so, with Suzaku's binocular vision in a flat field and Do watching from the skies to inform them of the positions of everyone within sight, he would guide Azarea and Natsuo to avoid and sentries that might be in the area, and any fellow participants that they might manage too see.
Tl;dr
-Does not enjoy the boat ride, and is not crazy and hearing voices, but instead has two asshole familiars
-Azarea suggests to team up upon getting off boat. Awkwardly agrees. His crows use viscious mockery. It's very effective.
-Is ecstatic at the mission being one where his scouting strengths are used, and even more so at The Left Plains as an option, which he takes with Azarea and Natsuo
-Dō tells him of the seven fellow participants that have chosen this path, before Suzaku sends him into the air, telling him too fly low when giving the all clear if they end up underground. Or signal by hitting ground.
-With his enhanced eyesight and binocular vision, along with Dō in the air, guides them to avoid sentries as they move through the plains
Abilities and TechniquesFamiliars: HereSA: Kyoukou Kousai Like all children born in the Kyuumu, Suzaku had his eyes taken out and replaced with crow eyes when he was just a baby. And while this sounds gruesome, the benefits of such an operation that the boy can't even remember are undeniable. His kinetic vision is enhanced to a degree far beyond normal human levels, able to trace movement and speeds that most would have difficulty processing as if they were moving in normal speeds, and with clear enough vision he's able to pick out small details at the same time, even from great distances as he can see far beyond human limits as well. He also effectively has night vision, needing only the bare minimum of light to make out things in great detail, and even make out magnetic fields which allow him to tell the direction of North as long as he can see. However, this enhanced eyesight also means things like artificial lights can give him a headache if he stares at them as he can see their rapid flickering, and if he can't see at all its all moot.
On top of this, like all Kyuumu, the boy is fully capable of understanding all birds and being able to talk with them. He is much more proficient at this then when hes talking too people, feeling much more comfortable talking to birds as it's something he's done his whole life. However, when multiple birds are talking at once it's the equivalent of being surrounded in a crowded street, and the boy can be easily overwhelmed as he's not yet experienced enough too make out the different conversations.
Kinetic Vision While all Kyuumu have exceptional movement based vision, Suzaku is exceptional even among other Kyuumu, things often managing to appear as if they're moving in slow motion as he is able to process high speeds to such a high degree. This not only let's him pick out details of high speed moving things, but lets him react to them better as well, not because his reflexes are better but simply because they appear slowed to him.
