The rosy-haired Genin bounced out of the Kisei Coffee shop, fixing up her hair, adjusting her ribbon, and brushing her messy bangs with her hands. The location of the coffee resided in the shinobi village Konohagakure no Sato. Yes, it was Sachi’s first time venturing out of the homely grasslands of Nohara no Kuni where she grew up. Sachi was under the supervision of Kisei Takato for this voyage outside of the country. Their family resided in Konohagakure and Taka had other business there as well.

She was surprised at how long it took to get to the village and was even more impressed that her stamina was able to keep up. Hi no Kuni was over 15 times the size of Nohara no Kuni and the travel there was around 3 times the distance of the field country if she recalled correctly. The calculations in her head didn't prepare her for the journey she just partook in and so, the cheerful-looking girl was still worn out despite her appearance and temperament. However, her fascination with the country outweighed her desire to rest for the day. The pair were to embark the next day as they couldn't stay for long due to Taka's busy schedule. 

Upon entering the village, she recalled one of the usual customers who came in and out of her Kisei Teahouse location in Hohei-Cho with her rambled about the city off and on while they moved the pieces of the chess board back and forth. The traveler was from Hi no Kuni and the description and scenery that relayed from the weathered timbre of the elder long ago made the sights and sounds a tad nostalgic even if it was completely new to her. His words must have stayed with her.

Sachi ran her fingers into her sleeves, patting her apron, and running last-minute checks on the stuff on her person, pouches, and weaponry for emergencies.

"Alright! I think I have everything!”

She continued to check her appearance in the coffee shop window, reciting a fond poem that her dad used to sing she awaited someone, twintails bobbing up and down with her little tune. 

"I remember the temple, this route I've traveled before,

I recall the bridge as I cross it again.

It seems the hills and rivers have been waiting,

The flowers and willows all are selfless now.

The field is sleek and vivid, thin mist shines...”

She was staying with her cousin who ran the location in Konoha but expressed to her Niichan that she wanted to explore the village after they completed their shipment of Kisei products to Taka's sister. Apprehensive about letting her wander around unsupervised, Taka enlisted the help of a local Genin to give her a tour of the place while he was busy with other matters. Taking an opportunity graciously handed to her was the Sachi way and she was ready to give the day her all.

For this excursion, the usual studious 15-year-old purposely didn’t look for a map of the city. Truth be told, her remarkable ability to recall her surroundings meant she didn’t need a tour, but she was aware of the safety regulations for her travel. She loved to travel, and nothing sent her heart ablaze more than finally going to a place she read on the pages of the books in the library and the words of the travelers who stopped by when she lived in the big city. If something bad were to happen, she probably wouldn’t be granted permission to leave the country again until she promoted in ranks--and the nagging from her parents would intensify.

Calm rays of sunshine ran down over a cool breeze as the lazy, unmotivated Genin sat under his favorite tree. It was a larger oak, but not the largest in the village- Not by far. No, it was just far away from the hustle and bustle of things. Sure, other Shinobi came and explored its curious branches from time to time, and yes, there were other quiet places to study and rest- But this particular area, sheltered from the majority of roads in the village, was unique in that it allowed him both a place to rest and a place for him to stretch his arms out and practice his different jutsu.

Today, he was practicing simple Kenjutsu. While normally this would be out of character for Kai, who typically wielded a massive glaive like weapon, there was a method to his madness- He wasn't just using a sword, he was wearing massive weights over his shoulders, chest, waist, arms, and legs. 

This was the first stage of his training to properly wear armor. Something that Kai had noticed of his other clan members, and something he experienced first hand that was still raw on the mind, was the fragile nature of his cousins bodies. Many seemed to just accept this weakness, or tried to fix this by working themselves to the bone and having some sort of overwhelmingly strong body.

Kai decided on a different measure. A more traditional type. Armor. It really came to him on a rather calm day, when he was people watching the Akamichi train. He noted that their traditionally powerful armor made them even more bolstering than they usually were, which lead him to believe that if he properly utilized such a tool, he too could take more painful attacks without having to worry as much about the effects on his body.

So, to that end, his start began with simple training using weights, to simulate the idea of wearing armor. After all, he had no idea what sort of composition to use, and it wasn't like he could just, walk up to an Akamichi and ask them.

...Or could he? 

Thoughts for another time. He had a job today, as much as he loathed to say to say it, and it was escort duty. Babysitting, man, why did he always get stuck with the suck jobs? Did he anger his teacher that much that he'd get trapped in a constant duty of difficult missions and stupid quests? 

Never time to train on his own, which meant poor Sachi would just have to deal with Mr. Waddles as he stepped out to meet her- Not that it was hard to miss her, what with her pink hair and brilliant blue eyes. Kai himself looked his usual self- His typical walking clothes, that is- But he also wore some rather bulging areas across his pants and shirt- On closer inspection, these were quite clearly the weights he was using to simulate his heavy armor.

Of course, to top it off, he also had his glaive slung over one shoulder. It looked menacing. It looked intimidating. And were Kai looking to be intimidating, it'd probably be both of those things. But as it stood? He was more... Looking like a giant dope right now.

"Hey, hey. You must be... Sachi, right?" His lazy look said a lot about him, almost slumped shoulders, a disinterested look in his duo-colored eyes. 

"I hope so. It'd be a drag if I managed to find the one pink haired girl in the village after all this time..." He trailed off on his complaints, only realizing he was going on when his eyes drifted side by side, as he looked back at the girl. At least he kept it short, words wise.

"...Sorry. Right, I guess you want a... Tour." He sighed, rubbing his chin with his free hand as he leaned on his glaive.

"Whadda ya wanna see first, Kisei? You can call me Kai, I'm your Genin babysitter." He smiled slightly, extending a hand to shake. While notoriously lazy, he wasn't unfriendly or anything, which is why they probably picked him, and while he didn't talk a lot, the words he said usually had enough meaning behind him that he didn't drone on about a subject without substance. Not a bad tour guide, if you could get past the lethargy.

Sachi smiled brightly as the lethargic-looking figure strolled up to their meeting spot, smiling so brightly it was as if the sun were reflecting off her form—almost as if she was compensating for the energy difference. She could feel her Kisei upbringing taking hold for a second as she almost recommended some coffee for the Genin--who towered over her by a whole 30 cm--slouching, logginess reminiscent of her older cousin in ways. She was not sure how to address the stranger or how formal she was supposed to be, but it seemed like it would be fine either way, and defaulted to her formalities.

"Indeed I am.” She replied standing upright, a little straighter; Blue eyes stared up at the man curiously, almost as bright as her rosy appearance. Her voice, light in pitch, ran through the air like a clear summer bell. "It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

Sachi took his handshake offer, tilting her head to the side at his "babysitting" remark.

"I apologize for the last-minute call for a tour guide and am rather thankful you accepted the offer, Kai. Just 'Sachi' is alright with me.” 

She didn’t seem to be bothered about Kai’s seemingly threatening appearance or the slothlike tone of the person. Sachi decided that her formal tone might've been too much for this type of meeting, even for her, and opted to tone it back. Her hands interlocked behind her, brushing against the bottom of her patterned obijime.

The coffee shop was bustling during its early afternoon rush. The sound of the door opening and closing was accompanied by a wooden clasp that gave the impression of the wooden narukos during festivals.

"Are you thirsty or maybe tired, perhaps? My family owns this coffee shop and so Onee-chan and Taka-Niichan said that you could take something as a thank you.” Her rigged posture became loose and animated, her hands clasping in front of her now, still radiantly beaming.

"It’s a bit busy right now but I can go in and whip something up real quick. I would say I’ve become rusty since enlisting, but I’ve been helping here and there throughout the years, so that would be somewhat of a lie.” She explained, bringing her hand to her chin.

"Im personally fine with anything, tour-wise, whatever is closest for now, I suppose."

It wasn't really until now that Kai got a good look at the Kunoichi. Shorter for sure, but that made sense- She seemed very slightly younger than him, though not enough that it'd be easy to tell. He just had an eye for these things. Still, her polite attitude really got to him, and the way she beamed up at him in that flowery pink outfit had him nearly tripping over himself as he leaned backwards, showing not a bit of difference towards it.

Oh man. This girl's really cute.

He scratched at his chin and listened to her speak, apologizing about having to walk her around. He waved a hand about as he glanced off to the side, distracting himself as his mind drifted on his superiors.

"... Don't worry about it. Not your fault. My teachers just like giving me extra work." It was true. Kai always got extra assignments or pushed onto double duty, not because he was particularly good at anything, but because a few of them really liked messing with him and pushing him around. He couldn't act like it wasn't good practice, sure, and he was one of the older Genin in the village, so he was a pretty helpful person, but still, it drained his already fledgling energy as he followed the woman into the building.

Her family owned this coffee shop? The idea of that had him scratching his head. He'd heard of Kisei coffee before, and-- Oh. It took him a second to put two and two together. He visibly placed his palm to his face at his sudden realization, and a quick glance in his direction could tell he was smiling under that hand.

"Sheesh... I didn't think... Uh..." He corrected himself with a clearing of his throat, as he leaned against his weapon and glanced up at the menu, then back at the hard working girl. He was kind of thirsty, he wasn't going to lie. Wearing a bunch of heavy weights wasn't exactly good for his hydration levels. That said, Coffee... Would it perk him up too much?

Who cares. His mind was still a little giddy as he nodded over at her, speaking rather calmly.

"If you want, I wouldn't mind trying out the coffee this place is so famous for. D-Don't go out of your way to do so if it's too much though..." He turned his head away, scratching at his chin again.

"You're my guest, I don't want you working too hard when you're supposed to be having a good time here..." He was honest with those words, and maybe talking a bit more to her then he usually would to a stranger. There was something about that smile, those bright eyes. Was he forming a crush? He hoped not, the last thing he needed was to crush on a girl a whole village away, talk about a drag.

"I guess the closest thing would be the Memorial Stone from here, but that's kind of depressing... The Hot Springs are pretty close, but uh..." He stumbled over words as he cleared his throat and looked back at his weapon.

"Maybe the Ramen shop? Our Ramen is world famous, I could even get you a bowl." He smiled a bit. That sounded nice in his head. From there, he could likely show her the police compound, the different clan areas, then wrap around and finish at some of his favorite training spots. There were a few quiet, nice places in Konoha after all, she might appreciate them.

"Well, I appreciated it nonetheless.” Entering the store and humming a small tune, she put her hands behind her and tightened the apron around her waist.

"It’s no problem at all. I’ve done this for so long, it’s as easy as breathing for me at this point.” Sachi eagerly yet calmly replied, swiftly retrieving the azure tasuki from her sleeves. "I’m unsure what your teachers informed you of, but we came to Konohagakure for some work so technically, there wasn’t much time for relaxing in the first place.” A playful yet slightly tired giggle left her lips as she smoothened out the slender ribbon-like sash.

"And besides,” The cherry blossom-clad girl started, bringing the sash to her mouth and using it to affix her sleeves to her yukata. Her nibbled practiced movements made it look like she had done this countless times before.

"Any guest of a Kisei establishment is a guest of mine.” With a skillful twist, she expertly tied a knot, her gaze lifting to meet his again. She noticed that he became a little more upbeat, or perhaps polite, possibly less dreary than he was initially, and it made her glad.

"Do you have any preferences for anything? We have coffee, but we also have our traditional teas and other snacks. I can make anything that the main location had--which is pretty much most of the stuff on the menu.” Sachi took a moment to think before resuming her suggestions. 

"Since you were training earlier-ah, wait, forget I said that. Since we’ll be moving around, I suggest something iced and cold, ahaha.” A small slip-up from her weary brain from travel. While delivering the packages earlier in the day, she happened to catch a fleeting glimpse of him near the training grounds, but she deliberately chose not to draw attention to her observation. She smiled like a closed envelope. "If you don’t have a sweet tooth, I recommend just trying some espresso over ice.”

Kai watched the woman get to work. Her voice was very soft and sweet, and honestly, he probably could have just sat here all day listening to her tell stories- But thankfully, he had more self control then that, as he adjusted his clothing a bit and thought about what exactly to get.

He did say the coffee they were famous for, but Sachi was right in that it was rather narrow to ask for something so simple when the shop clearly was much more then that. How would it survive in the middle of a village if it only sold coffee? ... Probably not awfully, but still, there was a method to that madness. Instead, when she brought up snacks, his stomach idly grumbled.

He hadn't eaten all morning... And the idea of a cookie or some sort of pastry was clear on the mind- Something that would take no time at all for her to realize, considering she just outed herself on watching him earlier. That came as a surprise, and for the first time here, Kai was caught blushing, realizing someone had been watching him practice- Even if for just a moment. Not that he knew that, for all he knew she could have been watching him all morning. The idea made him tense up, and the blush grew faster on his face, before he stared up at the ceiling and composed himself.

"Ah... Heh. Maybe something to wake us both up, then? It's been a hard working morning, so..." He glanced away for a moment, thinking about what to order again. Indecisive... No, no, no need for that.

"How about some espresso over ice- And some coffee cakes- For both of us, I mean. You'll need the energy too." He smiled briefly as he moved for his pocket, where he dug out his ryo. Kai wasn't wealthy by any means, but he did have connections to one of the more powerful families in Konoha, and he rarely spent his own ryo, an oft side effect of being so lazy being that you were often too lazy to spend your own money when you could get something made for you at home.

Still, he wondered what else this girl knew about him. He was surprised he'd been watched- That she had such an angle to her that she could sneak around with pink hair like that- But he suppose he only had himself to blame. It's not like he was exactly searching for people who would be poking their heads into his business.

Sachi nodded before scurrying to the back of the counter amidst the customers and the staff, like a little mouse scurrying away into their hideaway, slightly bashful from her slip-up earlier but quickly gained her composure again and started working. It only took her a couple of minutes to bring out two coffee cups filled with ice and a little bag with the boxed confectionery. She set the items down on a nearby table, undoing the sash that kept her sleeves still.

"I apologize for the wait. I wasn’t particularly hungry yet, so I only brought one slice. I hope it’s too your liking, nonetheless.” She let out a contented hum as she added a straw to her own drink, which happened to be noticeably darker than the one he had prepared for him. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she noticed the remnants of red on his face and skin, finding it slightly puzzling. Once she thought about it, it made sense since he was in the sun for most of the morning. 

"I must admit, I’m surprised that you took my suggestion. I personally really like the bitterness of coffee, but I know a lot of people who can’t drink it without any type of sweetness to cut out the astringent taste.” With a quick pat on her sleeves, she bounced over to the back where parts of her family were, energy infectious as per usual, while she notified them of her departure.

"Anyhow, best be off!” The energetic Sachi smiled as she walked through the door of the coffee shop, twin tails trailing behind her. "I like all the suggestions you’ve given me so I’ll trust you will lead the way.”

Watching her run off was magnetic to the eyes, almost. In a manner of speaking, he couldn't quite keep his eyes off her, though once she was gone, he was left to his own thoughts, idly tapping at the table. She was quick, at least, though it didn't really matter to him. Sachi could have been the slowest worker of all time- She had the excellent fortune of having a very, very patient customer. 

Indeed, Kai was a bit surprised when she came out after only a few minutes. Those who knew him usually knew it was find to take their time, he was often the last served- Not that it ever really bothered him. If anything, he enjoyed the idle time. More time to laze around.

Still, looking down at his drink, then over at hers, then to the item he'd asked for, he nodded with a smirk.

"Don't worry about it. I'm rather open to new things." He dwelled for a bit, rolling his straw inside of his drink as he took a sip. It was strong. Powerful- Enough to wake someone right up. But at the same time, it was... Rather tasty. Kai wasn't a particularly picky person, and he wasn't a big drinker of coffee, but for some reason, this drink, made by someone's hands just for him- It sort of dug at him on a deeper level.

He smiled again as he complimented her drink.

"It's delicious. I can see how your family manages to have this place open in so many villages." He grinned, taking down bites of the coffee cake as well. Sugar was so good. It didn't really do anything for him, it didn't give him that jumpstart or kick, but the taste was so nice. He could have lived off of sugar his entire life if it wouldn't have made him so fat.

"Right, well." He stood up as they both finished, walking out the door with her as he slowly looked up at the morning sun.

"I'd offer the Ramen shop again, but you just said you ate, so that'd be kind of dumb... Eh... Hell, you want to check out the hot springs? Even if you don't go inside of it, the place is pretty relaxing." He explained, as he lead her on. Presumably, she'd follow her tour guide. 

"The crazy part about this place is that it was built before the village was." He spoke as they walked, though the distance to and from the hot springs wasn't that much of a walk from their previous location.

"... I think." He had no idea if that was actually true. Again, he'd been pushed into the spot of 'tour guide' due to his bad behavior, not because he knew the village history that well.

"Lots of people come from all over to take a dip. I can't say I blame them. After a hard day of practice, nothing feels quite like just... Going comatose in the hot water." He muttered, a bit lost in his own mind for a moment. The facility was split into two sections- One for men, one for women, though there was a shared section for both genders- This one, of course, required you to wear proper dressings, compared to the other two, which were a tad bit more... 'Free form', as one would.

"I think we're second only to the land of hot water for the best hot springs. And you can't beat the price." He explained, tapping the sign a few times to present its lovely price to the world. Free as air.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it," the twin-tailed girl remarked, looking up at him. She couldn't help but wonder if she would ever grow tall enough to reach his shoulder. It seemed unlikely since she was nearly an adult, but a small hope lingered. She sipped her coffee as they walked alongside each other.

"Famous Konoha hot springs, huh? That sounds so relaxing," she mused, thinking of a soothing bath after her long journey, even though it was still morning.

"An Ojii-san that often came to my parent’s teahouse mentioned the Konoha Hot Springs to me, but he didn't mention the legend you spoke of," she added running through the conversations she had with him.

"I might look that up later.” A barely audible utter escaped her lips.

"It would be strange to go in now though. Maybe I could get Taka-Niichan to take me tonight and…” She glances up at him briefly, raising her sleeves, voicing a small giggle between them.

"It also would be weird to go with someone I had just met, wouldn’t it?” She teased, sporting a mischievous grin. "Not that I would mind though since I’m only here for a day, but we should go around the village more before relaxing, don’t you think?”

She’s been in hot springs in Hohei-Cho before, but she figured mountainous regions have better quality waters due to the volcanic activity. She found it a little amusing that he suggested taking a bath in the middle of the day, something she wouldn’t have thought of for a tour of all things.

"The air here feels different from Kusagakure, thinner and colder. Even the buildings and architecture have their unique charm," she observed, swaying from side to side as she walked. "I love the feeling of exploring a place I've never seen before. Because of that, I'd be content with anything, even the most mundane activities."

Bright blue eyes fixed onto Kai, "Kai-kun, what's your usual routine around town? Or perhaps you're the type who prefers the comforts of home? Although, for shinobi like us, staying home might not be that simple," she noted, bringing her hand to her chin. A hint of wistfulness touched her voice as she continued, "I do cherish my time at home, but it can get a bit lonely at times."

She called him on his bluff about the legend. He ran his hand across the side of his neck, laughing nervously as he looked away. Sheesh. She was beginning to peel back the layers of paint that he kept up to hide the fact that he didn't know the village as well as he should. Or maybe he did.

Whatever. He smiled back at her. 

"Oh, no need to look it up, it's uh... Lesser known legend." He toyed back, before she brought up the idea of going into the hot springs. He had mentioned it'd be nice, but he didn't mention that far in- She clearly was taking it to the next level, and something about that mischievous face... She was teasing him.

Sadly, however, that was working. Working very, very well. Kai looked to the ground as she spoke, his face growing red.

"I wouldn't want to go in with you-- I mean, I wouldn't want to push you into going into it-- I mean, not that you're not good looking, I just--" He stumbled. She didn't even try to trip him, he just tripped over his own foot. He stared up at her, clearing his throat.

"We can uh... Go inside later on then, if you want. I'd be... Erm, it'd be... Really cool..." He said, awkwardly, as he glanced up at the ceiling. Yes, a lazy bastard like him LOVED baths in the middle of the day. No better way to calm down, in his mind.

Still, they were on the move now. He listened to her speak, her talk of enjoying travel putting a smirk on his face again as he regained his composure. It made sense it was a bit colder, they were at a higher altitude. Her love of mundane activities didn't go unnoticed though. Kai appreciated that- He was a fan of the more mundane things in life as well, so he felt-

Suddenly, she gave him the senior honorific, though not quite that old. He ran his hand through his hair, almost missing her question, as he slowly looked out across the water.

"Mrm... It drifts from day to day... On a perfect day, I wouldn't mind lazing about, eating snacks and generally getting nothing productive done..." He held a hand up though, as if believing she'd counter that.

"But I'm not really that simple. A bit of training. Reading some books on Jutsu. Practicing a few of my favorite board games... Eating at the Ramen shop. Napping under the great tree..." He looked up into the air wistfully. 

"But no. I have to be responsible, so that usually means going out, doing missions, and keeping up appearances for my family... I'll be 18 next year, which means even more responsibility..." He groaned, he wasn't a big fan of his family. They did, after all, cast him aside for his sister.

"They like to call me Sloth, because I get things done at my pace. Work smarter, not harder, I say." He pointed out, as he glanced over towards her.

"...Lonely? What, don't you have like, friends and stuff? You seem like you'd have all sorts of people wanting to hang out with you." He looked away for a moment, pausing to say something, but thinking better of that before he pointed ahead.

"To the Hokages mansion then. I can tell you a bit about him too, when we get there." He said, still wanting to hear about her perceived loneliness.

Sachi laughed again, more audibly this time at older genin stumbling on his words. She found Kai unexpectedly endearing, a gentle contrast to his initial impression, akin to a wolf with a softer, more approachable side.She nodded in understanding as he listed his day-to-day activities.

"Eighteen next year…” She noted, a little surprised. "We are pretty close in age, now that I think about it. I didn’t consider it since you seemed a lot older than me, but it makes sense because of our rank…oops that was a bit rude of me, hmm...” she bashfully admitted, raising her sleeves to her cheek before quickly returning to her bright and cheerful demeanor.

"Responsibility-wise, I think I can relate at least a little,” she added thoughtfully, her gaze drifting toward the bustling road where people were starting their day.

"My father had once said,” She continued; playfully mimicking an elderly voice, her fingers intertwined behind her back. "If you don’t exert yourself in the prime of your youth, you will struggle in vain in your old age.”

"or something like that.” She added, in her usual voice switching to a reassuring tone, "If I still lived in Hohei-Cho, I would’ve taken over my parents’ position next year, so in ways, I do understand.”

A warm and cheeky smile spread across her face as Sachi glanced back at him.

"That is to say, I don’t think there is anything wrong with working smarter, especially when it’s easier, but while the body is young and able, sometimes menial labor isn’t too bad, especially if it’s at your own pace anyway,” she concluded, punctuating her point with a self-assured nod, making her pink twintails bounce and sway in rhythm with her enthusiastic movement.

"I’m usually busy with studying or training, more so with studying. I didn’t enroll in the academy until I was 12 and because of the late start, I poured most of my time into graduating.” She calmly shared; her expression held a hint of apprehension, as though she recognized the benefits of being more sociable but felt that her dedication to her studies was currently taking precedence.

"Most of my immediate family lives in Hohei-Cho and I can’t go to the city without a Chunnin accompanying me, so I live alone in the dorms. Because of it, I’m often in the village business center, out and about.” She rambled before stopping herself from speaking more, covering her mouth with her sleeves. She does miss them dearly and didn't realize that she was still homesick after all this time until she said it. The trip with Taka alleviated a part of it so Sachi decided that she would write to them again when she got back home. 

"Aha, that’s enough about me. I rambled on a little too much, The Hokage Mansion sounds great!” She exclaimed with excitement. "And if you would like to take me, The Great Tree sounds pretty interesting as well.” 

Sachi cleared her throat, suddenly changing the topic yet again. "Not that I don't have any friends," She clears her throat again. "It's just I don't have a lot of time in my day-to-day. Many of them are shinobi and train a lot as well."

Sachi seemed pretty good at dancing from subject to subject, and as Kai walked, he'd note her movements and her bounciness the whole way. He smirked when she commented on his rank, before he quickly waved off her apology.



"No fault but my own. Guess I never really saw a need to promote so badly." He shrugged as his hands rested behind his head, listening to the pinkette speak of her family, responsibility, and her thoughts on his Nindo, his Ninja Way. A simple shrug of the shoulders was all that was provided to her again, not quite dismissing her arguments, but responding rather simply with how he felt.



"It's a difference in opinion. I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to that- But shouldn't every Shinobi be with their Nindo?" He questioned idly, tapping at his chin as he realized the deeper meaning behind what he said. That is to say, he forgot just how deep a nindo went until she started speaking of her history again. 



It easily caught his attention- Not that she had any trouble doing so beforehand, mind you- But listening to someone you liked being around talk about themselves almost had an addictive flavor to it- Like a perfume you enjoyed the scent of. Still, the words did not simply flow through one ear and out the other, as he quickly cooked up a response from the heart.



"Work too much and you won't have time to just stop and watch the flowers grow." That was a wisdom. It was not given to him, he just made it up on the spot, but it sounded pretty wise, in his mind anyways.



He would have continued that train of thought, but it seemed the girls own words spoke for her- That is to say, a distancing away from her family obviously had her feeling more then a little isolated. Subconsciously he moved a bit closer to her as she said this- Almost in a protective way, as he glanced down over her and spoke up once again.



"Hey. That's cool. It's pretty great how much you care about your family that you want to see them again that bad. I wish I had such a good relationship with mine." He smiled with a tinge of envy. It was a rather unfortunate truth- Being the lesser of two children made him about as well liked as a hair in ones throat. So to hear the girl had such a relationship with her family that she felt genuinely sad that she couldn't see them more- Well. It was something to envy.



"Right- Uh... Hokage. We've had a few of those, you know." He changed the subject himself, it seemed. He didn't want her to dwell on her poor feelings. 



"Like... Ten, now. We've had a lot of Hokage die of sore hearts and a few died in battle. Some assassinated and one even threw himself on a sword." He chuckled at that. It was a bit of grim, black humor, as he rubbed his brow.



"It'd take all day to go over each of them, but I think the best way to put it is just about every major clan in Konoha has been the Kage at some point, other than the Akamichi, Hyuuga, Nara, and uh... Oh right, the Uchiha, I guess." He shrugged.



"I guess something about having your head of village be burdened with a 'curse of hatred' isn't good for diplomacy." A slow, soft shrug as Kai shook his head. He didn't keep up to date too much with politics of his clan, but even he knew the Uchiha were in a tumulus place in Konoha. 



"But since war has never actually come to Konoha's gates, so our village has been untouched aside from a few missing-nin attacks, so the Hokage's mansion still has some old treasures and stuff from over a hundred years ago, when the village was first founded. The place hasn't been remodeled to much since then either..." He scratched his chin, thinking of anything else useful to say about it, as they were now standing at the foot of the towering Kage's mansion. Idly, he wondered where Keisuke was...



...Of course, the last thing Sachi had said still dwelled in his mind, and he was a bit closer to her at this point, as he crossed his arms.



"I'd make time for you. Seems like people in your village are missing out on one cool Kunoichi." He cleared his throat and glanced off to the side, giving her a sharp compliment as he tried to play it off as nothing more then a simple statement.

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."

Work too much and you won't have time to just stop and watch the flowers grow.

It was something her father would say and she did, indeed, consider it wise. Actually, it was definitely something she had heard before. Maybe in a different way. If she looked in the dictionary of a brain, she could have found something to counter it but she liked it.

Thankfully, the young but capable Genin knew how to balance between work and play, considering most of what she does, she enjoys.

Sachi noticed a subtle twinge in his voice, a hint of envy, but she chose not to delve deeper into the topic. She understood that it might be a sensitive issue for him. The girl wasn't one to walk onto a path where she wasn't welcomed, not when she had just met Kai. She was aware that not everyone was as fortunate as her, especially in countries plagued by constant conflict, power struggles, and more.

"I see, it seems there are many shinobi clans inside of Konoha.” She observed, tilting her head and tapping her chin while gazing at the grand entrance of the Hokage Mansion. "Many leaders have come and gone over the years and so forth in Kusagakure as well.”

She considered how much she should learn about the Hokages, or how much of the mansion she was allowed to see. Sachi had no will or intent, but she wondered if her memory would serve as a danger to her later on. Even so, the galaxy brain girl felt that any knowledge obtained was good knowledge but also knew it wasn’t as simple as that. The thoughts quickly left her mind as soon as it came. Sachi decided that she wanted to explore as much as she was allowed to; Ocean eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Her thoughts were halted by Kai's sudden compliment, and she realized that he was a little closer than before, feeling the warmth of his body near hers.

"That's very thoughtful of you." She shot an affectionate, idol-like smile that added to her sugary tone. She pondered for only a second, uncertain whether his words held a flirtatious undertone or if he was simply being kind in response to her vulnerability.

"I guess I wouldn’t be so lonely if you were around.” She admitted with a touch of cheekiness in her tone, adding a playful twist to her statement.

She then turned her gaze away, wearing a wistful yet content expression. "but I’m sure the others have their reasons and I often help the village itself so I’m sure it doesn’t go unnoticed.”

Sachi noticed the mood growing a bit melancholic and changed her tempo adopting a confident and boisterous pose, placing her hands on her hips. "They say if you travel a thousand miles to bestow a goose feather; the gift may be small, but it’s a token of a profound friendship!”

Fingers intertwined behind her again as she leaned forward sporting a small grin, "Honestly, even if I’m lonely sometimes, I signed up for this life and so I have no regrets.” She nodded resolutely before realizing she had gone on another tangent.

"Oops, I rambled on again.” Her blue eyes darted to him again. "I appreciate it, by the way, honestly and truly,” She admitted, a touch bashful, and then redirected her thoughts to the mansion before them.

"How much of the mansion...am I allowed to explore?” The excitement was pouring out of her even when she was clearly restraining as it was uncertain if it was a breach in foreign policy.  "I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble, after all."

He'd heard a bit about the issues in Kusagakure. It seemed between the two of them, they didn't have a lick of luck when it came to finding a stable leader. It must have been the pollen allergies, he joked in his head, letting off a small grind and a glance to the side at his own joke.

When she played back at his flirtyness, Kai couldn't help but warm up a little inside. Rubbing his hand quickly over the back of his head again, he felt like he was going to accidentally rub the skin right off as he blushed a red so bright it was quite obvious what his intent in that statement was- And the fact that she'd responded so well to it, well, to put it in clearer terms, if he was the wolf she spoke of, she was quickly more then earning his trust.

"Heh... You're just full of sayings, aren't you?" He teased as he relaxed a bit, hearing her words calm him down. He could have played more at the teasing and flirting, but he'd rather it came naturally. There was plenty of time left in the day, after all, and he was more then happy to take this at a pace that didn't scare her, or himself away.

"I wouldn't worry too much. I hear the more you rank up, the easier it is to go out and meet friends. Guess that gives you some extra incentive to push for Chuunin, right?" He teased a bit more light heartedly, though that went double for himself as well. She wasn't the only one who needed to reach that rank. If he really did intend to be a good friend of hers, he'd need to extradite his path to Chuunin so he could visit her more often.

"Ahem-- Right, yeah... Uh back to the tour..." He laughed a bit nervously, but in a much more happy way- He seemed glad to know his advances weren't coming off in a weird way as he looked back at the mansion.

"Uh... The front desk. I could get you in deeper, but I feel like if I did, The Hokages body guard would end up kicking my butt... Or giving me extra work. Or both." He shuddered to think about it. Extra work. Blegh.

"So while looking on the outside is okay, I think it'd be a bit easier if we headed to the great tree, which isn't too far from here- I don't really know the history of it, but it's the biggest tree in the village and some say one of the best spots to rest and relax." Not that they'd paticularly been on their feet for long, but still.

"Plus, it's a good place to people watch- You can see all sorts of shinobi there relaxing or training- More so then my little neck of the woods." He explained, lowering his arms back down as he remembered just how heavy these weights were. Sheesh... Okay, maybe he was getting a little tired. But no pain, no gain, right?

The socially adept girl couldn't help but notice the scarlet hue that radiated from his skin. Her upbringing had exposed her to numerous social situations during her formative years, granting her a level of awareness and maturity that was a little more than what was typically expected for her age.

"Ah, so it was like that.” She mused within her own mind, piecing together his intent from the emotions that seemed to flow from his head to the back of his hand in a vermillion flush. It wasn’t clear to her before but at this point, she would be oblivious if she didn’t notice. However, she didn't mind it in the least, nor did she discount his compliment because of it. Her eyes remained curious and bright, showing no hint of her newfound knowledge about the older Genin. In her own way, she believed it was the thoughtful thing to do at this early stage of their acquaintance.

Sachi took pride in her encyclopedic brain, and she gave a proud look that seemed to say, "Indeed, I am," when he teased her about her seemingly endless list of quotes.

She believed that she was busy now, especially the year after she graduated from the Academy but if what he said was true, maybe it was a further incentive to rank up, especially if she could go travel around to visit her family around Nohara no Kuni.

Upon hearing that the Hokage Mansion wasn't open to the public, Sachi's expression shifted to one of mild disappointment.

She tilted her head to the side, furrowing her brow, and remarked, "Well, that's a shame. I suppose it's only for the best." Her childlike and bubbly demeanor quickly returned as she added, "I'll take up your people-watching idea. Lead the way!"

As they began to walk, a barrage of questions surged through her mind like a Gatling gun, but she held back from bombarding him with too many inquiries.

"Am I allowed to climb this tree you speak of?” Only for the questions in her mind to suddenly halt remember her slip up.

"Ah, about earlier, I just happened to catch a glimpse is all.” She tried to explain it, worried she sounded ridiculous or creepier than intended. "I have a good memory and people tend to stay in my mind the easiest when it comes to it.”

The young Kisei tried to explain it, "If you gave me a map and some of the local history, I would be able to accurately give you a tour of Konoha after a few seconds.” She glanced up at him, gauging his reaction. "But that wouldn’t be as fun as a friendly local giving me a tour, and I enjoy human company, more so than going somewhere by myself.”
