She finished off her rabbit and took a drink of water, giving him some relief. Her energy was on the up too, but only the physical energy to some degree as she was highly aware of her surroundings. And she should be, with how dark and eerie it was, it would be hard to tell what was happening. She was given a little over an hour of rest, just genuine rest where everything seemed semi-peaceful. Perhaps it would even dull her senses to some degree as she continued to sit there watching her fire die down burn and begin to turn to ember. In time without extra wood and kindling she would find herself enveloped in the eerie mist and darkness...

Without her knowing the clock would strike well into the evening time, just four hours before midnight and then a horribly startling noise would echo. It was sharp, piercing and with all the silence the siren would likely scare An's senses. It was mechanical sounding, that was piercing at first and then hollow at the end. It came and went, waning in and out for about a minute. Then there was silence again.

An could continue sitting here in the darkness, or she could decide what to do next... She could go in any direction, North, South, East or West in the darkness it might yield something or not. The question was whether she felt it was safe to continue sitting here with an almost dead fire after what she heard.

The siren's piercing wail cut through the eerie silence, jolting An's senses and shattering the fragile peace that had settled around her. The mechanical sound echoed through the mist-laden forest, leaving behind an unsettling hollowness. As the siren waned, the oppressive silence returned, leaving An in the darkness with the dying embers of her fire.

An hour of rest had passed, providing her with some physical recuperation, but the sudden intrusion of the siren reminded her that this island held secrets beyond the visible veil of mist. The fading fire offered diminishing protection against the encroaching darkness.

It was hard to tell which way the source of the sound had truly come from, but perhaps moving in any direction was better than simply sitting in place. The sound did not come again and An would navigate through total darkness. The woods grew closer the further north she went until finally they broke into many tall pine trees and it became a little easier to navigate. However, definitely eerier as now there were areas that were easy to see through and An would find herself occasionally seeing glowing eyes (or were those fireflies?) in the distance, wherever she looked. It was possible that something was playing tricks on her, or maybe it was just her mind.

With little to go off of this trip up North to the piney woods would take An an extra thirty minutes and if she looked up at this point there would be little that she could see aside from mist and stars, but mostly mist as the heavy fog was very much still clinging to the area.

Another fifteen minutes of following a very vague Northern star light and the silence would break once more, a twig snap, followed by a sharp rasping noise a vocal dryness. And then a blur, faster than An had likely ever seen before that would swipe by An likely cutting into her arm with what felt like multiple sharp short knives.

Caught in the chilling darkness, An pressed forward through the dense woods, guided only by the vague Northern starlight and the haunting glow of unseen eyes. The ethereal mist clung to her surroundings, adding an otherworldly quality to the atmosphere. As she ventured further into the piney woods, the unsettling silence was intermittently disrupted by the occasional snap of twigs beneath her feet.

Suddenly, the forest whispered a symphony of ominous sounds—a twig snapping, a rasping noise, and then an unnatural blur, swift as the wind. She felt a searing pain on her arm as if multiple sharp blades had sliced through her flesh. The unseen assailant vanished into the shadows, leaving her momentarily disoriented in the dark.

The moonlight filtered through the mist, revealing droplets of blood on An's arm. The pain radiated, demanding her attention. As the pain throbbed in her arm, An quickly realized the necessity of tending to her wound. With a swift and practiced motion, she tore another piece of the cloth from her makeshift bag. Wincing through the pain, she skillfully wrapped the fabric tightly around the cut, creating a makeshift bandage to staunch the bleeding.

Her eyes darted across the surroundings, scanning the misty forest for any potential cover or escape route, while she drew a training kunai. She tried to spot any sturdy log nearby, so she could mentally note its location as a potential anchor for the Body Replacement Technique, as her body took on a defense stance trying to step back as carefully as she could.

The rasping noise returned as An tried to staunch the bleeding with some cloth, it seemed that whatever this was was not going to let her heal quickly or relent any time soon. She would see a human figure standing the posture was poor, leaning forward, it had hair of some kind along its head. It wore clothes too, almost a standard issue Kirigakure outfit, nothing out of place aside from how it moved, quickly and with a monstrous hunger.

An would find a log - she was in a piney wood after all - but there were no quick escapes here, just a lot of trees that she could try to climb up but without tree climbing it would take a lot of effort and there was no telling what her new opponent was capable of.

It rasped again, a guttural growling noise before it became a blur again, An would see the disturbance in the mist if she was focused on anything but the log - after all she had not yet performed the handseals necessary for the body replacement technique, which meant she would be in a vulnerable position again. This time, man(?) went for her legs, once again with that sharp knife like attack.

Note: An finds a log - she's in the woods after all - but having not performed hand seals yet she is still vulnerable. Her opponent disturbs the mist with movement as he rushes towards her to cut at her legs in the same way it had done her arm moments ago.

An had to think fast. Her arm throbbed reminding her of the unexpected encounter just a moment ago, as her bandage slowly but surely was soaking in her blood. Instinctively, she hurled her kunai at the advancing enemy, hoping to buy herself precious seconds for an escape or evasion. Armed with only training weapons from the academy, confronting the foe head-on was not an option. In the split second she thought of that, she was reminded of some of her academy classmates, who for sure would just confront the enemy head-on, without thinking much about the consequences, but An was not like that. Her best chance lay in creating distance and potentially finding real weapons in the forest or the best scenario, completely avoiding the enemy.

As the kunai sped through the air, An would leap backward, simultaneously performing the Bunshin no Jutsu [Clone Technique]. Two more images of herself would materialize, creating a trio that could confuse and divert the enemy's attention. Swiftly, she would switch places with the furthest clone, aiming to evade the imminent threat and gain valuable time. In the process, she would ready herself to perform the handseals for the Kawarimi no Jutsu [Body Replacement Technique], a precaution against the enemy destroying the clones and closing in and creating even more distance. At least that was the plan that formed in her head.

The risky maneuver would unfold rapidly, leaving the outcome uncertain. Would An's quick thinking and nimble actions be enough to outwit her mysterious adversary and ensure her survival?

An did her best, creating clones to try and divert the attention of the man who was attacking her and further creating more seals to prepare for what might very well be the inevitable - when that man with the guttural rasping noises would catch up to her with the speed that he had.

The clones did manage to make the man pause for a moment, looking between them all before he inevitably figured out who the real An was. It was difficult to discern how he was able to do so, but it seemed stopping and looking was enough for him...

He darted again and went for her with all of his power. Now while he was definitely stronger than An there was no magnificent power behind the attacks, it was just that they were fast and sharp and for this very reason extremely dangerous in large quantity.

If An utilized the replacement technique in that moment he would have sliced into the log and give An the ability to escape momentarily, get just ahead enough...

Out of sight before that horrible siren came again and An would be in silence.

Now she needed to figure out what to do next, she clearly needed weapons and to see if she was still being pursued plus there was no way her adrenaline was not absolutely coursing through her veins.

An's swift thinking and use of clones managed to momentarily confound her mysterious assailant, causing a pause in his pursuit. However, it was only a matter of time before he identified the real An. With a guttural growl, he lunged forward, his attacks swift and dangerous.

In the nick of time, An executed the Body Replacement Technique, redirecting the man's onslaught toward a log. The diversion allowed her to slip away, just out of sight, before the eerie siren pierced the air once again, plunging the surroundings into silence, thought her heart was beating as fast and loud as it could do to the adrenaline surge she felt just a moment ago.

An quickly assessed her surroundings and decided to employ the Henge no Jutsu, transforming herself into a similar-sized bush as herself. Given the abundance of bushes in the forest, it seemed like a fitting disguise. An's familiarity with these plants made the transformation a relatively easy task for her.

In her new form, she would try to move away, relying on the inconspicuous appearance of a bush to avoid attracting attention. The forest was dense, possibly providing cover for her small, swift movements. An aimed to put even more distance between herself and the potential threat and hoped for the possibility to discover some real weapons, relying on her knowledge of rabbit behavior to navigate effectively. The eerie silence of the woods enveloped her as she moved through the darkness in her transformed state, hopeful that this would provide the escape she needed.

An would transform and start to move, it was quite difficult to do so in the bush form and so she would find herself likely rolling around or being not super dexterous in this form. It took some time before she made it to the forest's edge and there was yet another beach. This strand was mostly barren save for a literal cabin made of semi-rotted wood, it was definitely abandoned for a long time...

At this point An could retreat back into the forest or venture onto the beach and towards the cabin. With how late it was the night was fully engulfing the area, but at least she could see now that she was closer to the beach and there was less fog. She would be able to see every start in the sky - with the galaxy clouds too - and a bright moon casting its light.

An would find herself quite tired too, having not properly slept in almost twelve hours the only thing that was likely carrying her through was the adrenaline of almost getting killed... She still had thirteen hours to go before her test was considered completed.

Fortunately for now there did not seem to be anymore adversaries...

Note: An remains a bush for just a little over two hours and with rather clumsy bush movements manages to get out to the edge of the forest where the fog is less thick towards - surprise - a beach area. There is an abandoned old cabin here but nothing else. She can go back into the forest or inspect the old cabin as a bush or not... Though as a bush she does move a lot slower and clumsier. There appears to be no enemies at this moment in time.

Exhausted and slightly disoriented from the hasty transformation, An found herself at the edge of the forest, facing a barren beach. The night sky, adorned with countless stars and a bright moon, provided some solace after the tense encounters in the dark woods. A lone cabin, weathered and abandoned, stood on the shoreline.

Her options lay before her: retreat into the safety of the forest or venture towards the cabin on the beach. The adrenaline that had sustained her through the perilous encounters was beginning to wane, replaced by the fatigue of a long and arduous day. An felt the weight of exhaustion settling in, a reminder of the hours she had spent without proper rest or sleep.

Despite the weariness, the night seemed calm for now. No immediate threats loomed on the horizon, giving An a moment to catch her breath and consider her next move.

Feeling the stiffness in her limbs from the prolonged transformation, An decided it was time to dispel the disguise. As the illusion faded away, she stretched her arms and legs, trying to alleviate the tension that had built up during her bush form. Taking a sip of water from her canister, she could feel the refreshing coolness trickling down her parched throat, providing a momentary relief.

Because An’s genetic makeup is more similar to that of fungi than that of humans, she can use techniques based on Fungi anatomy, such as secretions or enzymes from various Fungi. She can easily generate or grow any part of a Fungi's anatomy from her own body by using chakra to further alter her own cells. Finally, because these techniques are made from her own cells or bodily fluids, such as converting her saliva into a specific Fungi secretion, An is immune to their effects.

An approached the cabin after a quick drink of water to help her parched mouth. There was nothing immediately exciting about the cabin, everything was quite save for the roar of the sea nearby. It was almost calming, soothing...

If An chose to test the door she would find that it opened easily, squeaking on rusted hinges revealing a one room home. There was a pit in the center with a pot though it had not been used clearly in a long time - years in fact - and nothing about it seemed safe to use. There was an old worn bed with a mattress in the corner. No sheets or pillows but definitely a bed.

The cabin smelled a little rotted and definitely humid and damp. Despite this it was not the most putrid smell in the world which implied that there were no dead bodies...

The wooden floor squeaked and warped beneath the weight of anyone's step. There was something strange about one part of the floor it seemed newer than the rest of the cabin like someone had been renovating and then abandoned it after a square was completed...

There was a nightstand right by the bed and on it a bag, the bag looked heavier than your average bag. What would An do?

An cautiously entered the cabin, her eyes scanning the interior for any signs of danger. The aged wood groaned beneath her weight, and the musty scent of the damp environment enveloped her. The room was sparse, bearing the marks of abandonment and neglect. An old pit in the center hinted at past attempts for a fire, but it had long fallen into disuse.

Testing the door, it opened with a reluctant squeak, revealing a single room with minimal furnishings. A worn bed, bereft of sheets and pillows, occupied one corner. The pitiful remains of what might have once been a makeshift kitchen lay dormant. Despite the age and decay, it seemed the cabin had been devoid of recent occupants, and that offered An a degree of relief.

Her attention was drawn to an oddly newer section of the wooden floor, as if someone had started renovating but abandoned the effort halfway. It sparked curiosity, but An decided to explore it cautiously. As she approached the peculiar floor section, her eyes noticed a nightstand by the bed. On it lay a bag, appearing heavier than an ordinary sack. An hesitated for a moment, considering the potential risks, but her curiosity got the better of her.

She cautiously approached the nightstand and inspected the bag. Its weight suggested something substantial inside. An carefully opened the bag to unveil its contents.

An approached the strange floor but then her attention was taken by the bag on the nightstand. Looking inside she would find immediately something that could come in very handy - three kunai, five shuriken. They were not the rubber kind, or the wooden kind, they gleamed in the very pale dim moonlight as the metal that they were. An had to be careful proceeding forward as these weapons could cut her as easily as they could cut any enemies lurking around this island.

Now she would have to be very cautious with how she secured these weapons, after all academy students did not have pouches that were meant for this sort of thing, perhaps she had a belt or a bag... Alternatively she could pick up the bag that these were in, it seemed sturdy enough, definitely as if it did not fully belong in this cabin. Someone had placed it here.

And now there was nothing else in the room to explore in truth, she could return to the floor but it would not really yield anything fruitful from her end - though it did not creak if she stood on it in comparison to the rest of the cabin.

She could leave, or try to get some shut eye out of the elements on the older bed... Her energy was on the fritz after all.

Whoever left it here likely intended for these tools to be utilized, and An felt a sense of gratitude for this unexpected gift in her uncertain situation.

I would know him in death At the end of the world Gurē An

An would get the sleep that she needed, several hours of it and while it was not necessarily enough to fully replenish her or call it a 'good nights rest' it would be enough to keep her from passing out later on in a more crucial moment. The bed was a bit pokey, the mattress was far from soft. But An was being tested for her ability to adapt. Shinobi had to put themselves in highly uncomfortable situations and sometimes sleep in the worst conditions to ensure their own survival. Sleeping in trees was not uncommon, and this mattress and bed was just a step above that of a flimsy branch high in the sky.

Hours ticked on, the sky turning from an extreme dark blue to something just a little lighter. The hints of dawn approaching. But even this earliest of dawn would bring no comfort, because An - unless she was too far in her sleep - would be awoken with that eerie siren that would pierce the morning dewy air.

Soon after the siren the wooden floor of the cabin would creak, and a guttural noise, familiar and spine-chilling would resonate through the little damp cabin.

Would An be able to get her wits about her fast enough to react to the fact that someone was standing near her bed, slightly hunched, bald, hands like claws with almost molten like skin?

Was it a man or someone that had once been a man?

Note: An gets several hours of rest before the siren sound pierces the air again. It is now around four in the morning. Following the siren a guttural noise is heard IN the room that An is in, there is a man(?) standing just near the square of renovated wooden floor in the cabin... He hasn't yet noticed her though.
