As she groggily attempted to gather her bearings, the creaking wooden floor beneath her hinted at an unwelcome presence. The guttural noise that followed sent shivers down her spine.

Option one: Make a run for it. However, fleeing into the open would likely give the mysterious figure a distinct advantage. An, despite her agility, would be at a disadvantage in an open space against this hulking presence.

Option two: Stay and confront the figure. The cabin provided cover and a more controlled environment. An's smaller stature and familiarity with the room might give her an edge in maneuverability. Taking the initiative while using the limited space to her advantage could be a viable strategy.

An swiftly decided to confront the figure within the confines of the cabin. She grabbed a kunai from her bag and the bag itself, her fingers closing around the cold metal with determination. The dim light of the cabin played eerie shadows across the figure's form, emphasizing its hulking silhouette.

With agility and precision, An aimed for the lower parts of the figure's legs. Her training at the academy echoed in her mind, reminding her of the vulnerable points of the human body. She hoped the advantage of the limited space in the cabin would become apparent as she would dart forward, exploiting her smaller size to maneuver.

The human started to move forward, one step after another... Then it sniffed something perhaps it was the way An was breathing. The hunched figure growled in annoyance at the scent and then slowly turned right when An had made the decision to run towards him trying to cut into his leg. She was quick enough just barely managing to get the kunai to slice into some tendons. It made the man-bast to let out a guttural screech of pain, and immediately An would know the swiftness of this thing she was dealing with.

It was as swift as whatever she had encountered in the forest, quickly and deliberating running towards her to grab onto her, nails razor sharp to dig into her body wherever it could catch. It was aiming to kill in truth, and this small space did not seem to inhibit its movement at all, if only that it could not really build up enough speed in this small of a space. It would run into every object in here, slicing and dicing as much as it could. Growling occasionally as it chased An around the one-room square cabin, at some point nails would slash into the old mattress forcing metal springs out of it...

However, An quickly realized the true extent of the threat she faced. The wounded figure, fueled by a primal rage, turned towards her with terrifying speed. It became apparent that the confined space of the cabin did little to impede its relentless pursuit. The creature, hands like claws, raced after An with a singular intent – to kill.

It didn't take long for the hunched figure's razor-sharp talons to inflict semi-deep cuts on An's body - right forearm, left forearm, left thigh, right calf, and right shoulder, as they clashed in the confined space of the cabin. The wounds stung, and An could feel the warm trickle of blood as it seeped through the torn fabric of her clothing.

The small cabin became a chaotic battleground, with An desperately evading the relentless attacks. The creature's sharp nails cut through the air, tearing into everything in its path. The cramped quarters worked both to An's advantage and disadvantage, limiting the creature's ability to build up speed, yet providing numerous obstacles that it careened into, leaving destruction in its wake.

An's agile movements and quick thinking allowed her to narrowly avoid the creature's deadly advances. The battle in the small space intensified, and with every slash, the creature seemed more determined to capture its elusive prey. As the mattress was torn apart and metal springs exposed, An realized she needed a decisive move or risk being overpowered.

An swiftly retrieved three shurikens from her bag, her hands working deftly even in the midst of the chaotic pursuit. With a somehow focused aim, she targeted the creature's eyes, recognizing that blinding it might provide her a crucial advantage in the confined space. But would the shurikens hit the target? An could only hope.

The confined space coupled with the panic, made it quite difficult to aim and throw the shuriken. Once they were thrown she would find that one managed to nick the creatures eye, the other fully impaling, but closer towards the nose. This meant one thing, the beast was blind in one eye, and only bleeding from the other. Though blind the blood was dripping from the eye area, slightly obscuring the vision. In this small of a space, though it just meant the beast was more enraged and MORE clumsy. Destroying everything in its path - truly - until there was almost nothing to destroy.

It could still follow her though, despite eyeballs being taken out of the equation, which meant something else... It was able to track her in some other way that An had yet to even figure out or realize. This would show the girl that her enemies might one day be able to do multiple things even if she felt she take out their senses in some manner...

Another growl left the man-beasts mouth and he lunged towards her trying to really grab her now and if he did manage such a thing, the two would likely collide to the ground, rolling around in a frenzy while he tried to really really kill her, blood dripping everywhere from his eyes. A horrific look from the shuriken sticking out of his face.

Note: An manages to take the things eyes out but its still pursuing in some manner... Ultimately he lunges at An to try and grab her to bring her down to the ground where a more dangerous close-quartered battle would continue.

An realized that disabling its eyes hadn't incapacitated it as thoroughly as she had hoped. In this confined space, the beast's enraged and clumsy movements became even more unpredictable, turning the cabin into a chaotic battleground.

The creature lunged towards her, its blind fury unchecked. An's nimble movements allowed her to evade the initial grab, but the close quarters made it challenging to maintain distance. In a desperate bid to escape, An tried to dodge and weave, but the creature's relentless assault made it difficult.

The collision sent them wrestling to the ground, locked in a frenzied struggle. During the tumultuous struggle, An sustained several wounds—another gash on her forearm and what felt like a bruised rib from a forceful impact. The pain from the injuries throbbed with each heartbeat.

Blood dripped from the creature's injured eye, creating a gruesome spectacle. An needed to act swiftly, either finding a way to incapacitate the creature further or making a final push to escape the cabin.

The creature, despite its monstrous appearance, retained some semblance of humanity, and the internal conflict within An intensified. The ethical dilemma of taking a life, even one twisted into a monstrous form, tugged at her conscience.

In the dim light of the cabin, An hesitated for a brief moment. The creature, blind and wounded, growled and thrashed in its attempts to overpower her. An's conflicting emotions churned within her. However, the stark reality of survival pressed upon her. An understood that hesitation at this moment could be fatal.

As the creature thrashed on the ground, blind and disoriented, she reached for the kunai at her side, her fingers gripping the hilt tightly. She aimed for a vulnerable spot on the creature, aiming to deliver a decisive and lethal blow. The dim light in the cabin flickered as An lunged forward, kunai in hand, targeting a vital area. In a swift and calculated motion, she would attempt to thrust the kunai toward the creature's neck, aiming to sever the crucial arteries and end the struggle once and for all.

In the real world An's hesitation would definitely cost her, and in this moment it was costing her too. Each new moment of dilemma and moral thought kept her from driving in a blow that could make her victorious today, and that also meant more wounds. The more she waited, the more the man beast growled and screeched, the more she would find her clothes in tatters and her flesh torn...

She finally came to some kind of decision in spite of the situation and would frantically grab at the kunai feeling at its handle, before deftly stabbing it into the man beasts neck. Doing this did two things immediately and a third at a delay. The first thing that happened was the creature grabbed at An harder, razor sharp nails driving themselves into her upper arms so ferociously that they could very well scrape at her bones. The second thing was blood would gush over An in a waterfall from this creatures neck in big glugs. This showed that it was *very* much alive and had not been some kind of figment of her imagination.

In pain and in a frenzy but with a weakening system the creature weakly screeched until it could no longer and then the third delayed thing happened - it collapsed in a heap on top of An crushing her beneath her own doing.

Now An had to get out from under this heavy cumbersome body as she lay in a pool of its blood and her own. It was sticky and messy, and smelled horribly of copper here. Would she lay there a moment longer and rest, or would she try to get away as quickly as possible?

She would have to be careful either way, that shuriken was still lodged in its face and likely scrapping against her dangerously.

Note: An kills the man beast. However in her hesitation she does sustain more injuries, and as she kills her adversary he clutches onto her enough to pierce her arms to the bone, blood spurts everywhere and then he collapses on top of her, leaving her precariously laying on the cabin floor absolutely drenched in her own blood and the beasts blood with a shuriken dangerously close to scrapping a vital spot on her.

Summoning the last reserves of her strength, An carefully maneuvered herself out from beneath the lifeless creature. Every movement sent waves of agony through her wounded arms. The shuriken, still lodged in its face, scraped against her as she extracted herself, leaving a few more painful cuts in its wake. Once free from the oppressive weight, An found herself on the cabin floor, bloodied, battered, and utterly exhausted.

The relief of escaping the immediate danger washed over her, mingling with the profound exhaustion that gripped her body. As she lay there, unable to move any further, the reality of her injuries and the harrowing night she had endured took their toll. Exhaustion and a sense of both physical and emotional drain enveloped her. The cabin's walls seemed to close in on her, and the air hung heavy with the stench of blood.

In the dim light of dawn, An lay motionless on the cabin floor, the exhaustion, and relief merging into an overwhelming sense of vulnerability as her eyes seemed to close by themselves.

An managed to get out from under the beast, before she collapsed on the ground of the cabin floor. Her eyes closing. Were it not for her bloodied wounds this might have been an okay thing to do. She kept bleeding out, her head likely quite light from the amount of blood loss. Some wounds never seemed to staunch and while the more shallow ones did close up to some extent the deeper ones did not. If An was even moderately able to keep her wits about her she would be able to rest but stay at least awake throughout this time. If she drifted and fell asleep, she would likely black out and the examination would be over.

Several hours would pass, the sun would pierce through the window of the cabin illuminating the gruesome scene through the cob-webbed pane.

An would feel her eyelids tickle with the sun's rays, it was morning now and dawn had completely passed on. But it was only morning, which meant that she still had still a few hours to make sure she survived the remainder of the hours available to her. Precisely four hours were left, actually, though it would be hard to tell that much from the sun.

As An reached the entrance, the brightness of the morning sun hit her eyes, momentarily intensifying her disorientation. Nevertheless, the proximity of the beach drew her forward. The sand could offer a crude but effective means to staunch the bleeding from her wounds.

With determined effort, An made her way onto the sandy shore. The grains felt cool against her hands as she collected handfuls, gently pouring them into her more severe wounds. The sand's rough texture acted as a makeshift coagulant, slowing the bleeding. It was a painful and crude method, but given her circumstances, it might just be enough to buy her a little more time.

An would manage to just barely crawl out of the cabin and come closer towards the shore where the breeze was cool and welcoming. The air was still warming up here, and everything was mild and temperate. She might even feel a light sea spray against her cheeks as she worked to staunch the bleeding wounds along her body. It was an extremely crude and painful method, but it would work to cease the bleeding for the time being. Which meant that she would not totally bleed out and have to stop her examination. She had not yet failed, but the threat of passing out was constantly threatening her with that fact...

It was hard to tell how much time passed between her resting her eyes out but she would hear a noise behind her, some kind of dull thudding and clattering in the cabin that she had abandoned. This was followed by silence, and the sea waves lapping at the nearby shore peacefully.

In the moment it was difficult to figure out what to do, but An would find that her mouth was particularly dry from a lack of hydration and her stomach was also grumbling with hunger after a long night and long battle. Did she even have her supplies on her, or were they left back in the cabin?

Did she have the energy to return to the cabin or was all this futile?

There was not a lot of water left in An's canteen, whether it was enough to get through the hours she had left was questionable but anything to keep that embrace of darkness from coming. It was no easy task, and it was not meant to be. An had desired to become a shinobi, it had been a path she chose. Kirigakure was only making certain that not only she had the resolve to make it through, but also making certain that those who chose this path had no delusions about what it meant.

It meant deprivation of supplies, exhaustion, and a threat of death always looming. That was the life of a shinobi, the simulation would show An that more than any of her past survival tests, any battle she faced and any theoretical questions asked of her. This exam was *meant* to make her truly know what it would take to be a shinobi.

And if she came out of this with a still burning desire to protect her nation, then perhaps she was fit for it.

She crawled with desperate resolve towards the line of the forest, the trees offering protection from the sun that was becoming warmer and warmer, obtrusively so.

The dandelion leaves were a bitter and crude bit of sustenance but they did the trick for a moment. But leaves were hardly good nutrition, An would have to keep on as a slow pace to try and keep herself awake. Even small movement would make certain she was at least awake for the incoming hours that she still needed to be awake.

Each hour gnawed on An's senses, it probably seemed like forever and no time at all. The sun kept moving higher into the sky until it was well overhead. She kept eating, kept drinking until there was little to nothing in the canteen, her consciousness there and not all at once...

Three hours crawled by in this manner, it was probably close to impossible for An but her resolve remained even if some of the sand seemed to fall from her wounds.

But soon the hours struck at noon. And in that moment a very mysterious masked figure would appear - likely blurred from how poorly she was fairing at this point - and would scoop her up carefully.

"Sleep now."

And if An did not feel exhaustion take over then a small pill would be slipped between her lips that would allow her to be put to a restful sleep.

An unknown amount of time would pass, and the next time An would wake up she would find herself safely tucked in a clean smelling hospital bed her wounds cleaned up, healed or bandaged appropriately where they could heal naturally.

If she looked she would notice there was a small note at her bed side and if she read it it would say:

"Gure An,

Your efforts during your examination were noted and valiant. The academy has recommended you to graduate and take up the rank of genin. Once you feel well please dress and make your way to the academy reception hall to receive your headband, identification number and team assignment.
