For all the tales of how the desert country of Kaze no Kuni was an inhospitable wasteland there were an equal number of beautiful locales that offered citizens and tourists alike respite from the harsh conditions. Those not fortunate enough to make it to the safe haven of the village could instead visit the country's capital, Roran, or the coastal town of Ouetsu assuming they didn't mind a jaunt around a mountain range nuzzling closer than anyone would have liked to Sekara; but when the hustle and bustle of life got to be too much an escape was needed and sometimes further was better.

Asahi had promised a trip to the beach for quite some time and the time had finally come where work obligations had loosened enough to where he and Arashi could get away from the village for a while. Between his recent promotion to Special Jounin and accompanying the Kazekage on a diplomatic trip out of country the Kyokujitsu hadn't seen the light of day in a while; and Arashi... well, being the Jounin Hanchou came with its own daily trials and tribulations that kept her busy as a bee. As of now, however, that was in the past and the plans had been made and the travel completed so now all that remained was to spend some much needed time together.

The journey to Oetsu had been a bit longer than if they were making time for a mission, the two opting to travel as close to that of the nomads of old as possible via both cart and camel. While the option for a more secured escort was possible --and probably recommended-- they had decided to not take away resources that could be better served staying in the village. Waves gently lapped against the shore as the sun shone brightly in the sky, gulls calling out to one another as they flew overhead. The town was host to beautiful beaches that stretched from end to end and it looked as if they had chosen the best of them all to plant their flag, er, towels.

"The last time I was here, Zakku and I were stopping some kidnappers. Didn't even get a chance to dip my feet in the water. Kinda crazy how places look different when you don't have to look at them through the lens of a mission." Asahi spoke with a chuckle. He had their towels and a basket with all manner of snacks in hand and was ready to relax.

Moment Music "No kiddin..." Arashi would draw her hood down for a moment, just to allow for the sun and the sea air to kiss her face as she released a breath. In truth, it was the first time all trip she had felt at least somewhat at ease enough to do so. With the recent events within Sunagakure, word traveled fast that the Kazekage was now to resign. It was worst by the fact that by the time it had reached her, she had been well on her way to making a petition to ensuring her father had a job. So that alone was enough to rattle her a bit. Still, a small part of her had been more than relieved... Since the girl had been a child, her father had been Kage, now that role was going to be taken up by another. Granted, he was still in a position of authority, but it wouldn't be running the village. Yet, it didn't stop people from asking questions, and there had been plenty. Along with the assignments, the uproar, and the usual duties she had, Arashi had been on her toes for weeks. So upon getting the reminder of Asahi's promised trip, she had quickly jumped on board. The trip alone had been quiet, if not long in reaching the coastal village. But well worth the efforts. While they could have easily gotten here sooner, it was nice to be able to slow down and simply enjoy the journey in and of itself. As she held her hands behind her back, she'd look over her shoulder toward the young Kyokujitsu jounin, her usual grin planted on her face as she then let her gaze shift toward the beach. Finding place for them to set up would be a bit of a challenge, it was almost tempting to make a place herself. But she decided to take a page from her old play book and just be lazy for a day. A strange notion these days, but it was nice to not really have to worry too much about anything. In fact, Asahi had handled everything even to the point of how they got here. "But then with what we do for a living, kinda hard to break that habit...I'm even tryin not to check my blindspots..." In allowing herself to stretch, she'd then blink as she seemed to note an empty space become available, nodding her head in it's direction. "We better hurry before someone takes it..." That said, Arashi would dart in that direction, her body sliding across the sand as she planted herself down upon it. Noticing a group that seemed to had spied it as well, she'd rest her hands on her lap, as if defiant, tilting her head as they annoyedly walked off in another direction. "I hereby claim this plot of land...Heh heh..." Childish, but still satisfying as she laid back and closed her eyes as she waited for her companion. "Kami...I needed this..." With her hands resting on her chest, she'd close her eyes with a smile on her face. There was something different about being under the sun on a beach, next to being under it in the desert. Perhaps it was the slight chill on the wind, mixed in with the sea. Or maybe it was the sound of people that seemed to be about taking in the sights. It wasn't as dim either. Or hazardous. It was damn near tropical...

Listening to Arashi speak on not truly being able to turn off being a shinobi was probably the truest thing anyone had ever told him in his young life. All the years of training, missions, and learning ingrained in them a subconscious psyche of always being at least somewhat alert to what was going on around them and relaxing felt like a skill that would have to be learned like all the rest. Even now in the middle of a beach the man's sensory abilities washed over the area without him having to focus and while he was thankful that nothing was pinging back part of him was expecting that at some point something would.

The two would scan for a spot and in a blink Arashi would spot one and zoom off to go claim her territory, a disgruntled group slowly walking past having lost out on some prime real estate. Between the two of them they could have claimed the entire beach as their haven with a few flicks of the wrist but for the most part they were trying to wing it as civilians and not letting the others around them know that they were shinobi was a good first step. Asahi would set the basket of goodies down for a moment as he unfurled the two long beach towels across the sand before taking off his sandals and plopping down on the somewhat cooler cloth; battle hardened shinobi as he may have been the burning sensation of hot sand on the bottom of his feet was still a very humbling experience.

"Well... we made it. Spent so much time thinking about it, planning it and getting out here I kinda don't know what to do now." Asahi spoke as a slightly confused look crossed his face. Their vacation had seemed like a pipe dream buried underneath the sudden news of a change in leadership and all that was to come with it. The Kyokujitsu had worked under Takato for years at this point and to see someone else sitting in that chair when he got back to the village was going to be strange. Would the new Kazekage even keep him on as a bodyguard or would the newly minted Special Jounin have to look for some other way to serve the village? There were plenty of questions swirling around his head in regards to this new regime but Asahi would do his best to push those to the side so he could focus on the beautiful views all around him.

Moment Music In seeing Asahi begin to set up, she'd look over and watch him with a smile, seeing him seem to allow himself to a more natural response to sitting on hot sand, reminding her that she really didn't feel the effects of the elements like most people. Still, it was enough of a sight that she'd wait until he was finished that she'd push herself over onto the other free towel beside him, looking on as she began to mimic his actions as she removed her sandals from her feet, placing them beside her as she settled into her new position. Pulling her legs close to her chest, she'd continue to look on at the water, her expression calm as she listened and then held a blank expression in hearing the next words to come out of his mouth. He had no idea just what they were supposed to do next? "Wait...seriously?" Looking at him, she'd then blink before then tilting her head to the side. "Wow dude....I mean...I guess we're supposed to have fun...." Arashi was almost clueless about this kind of stuff as he was. Or at least, as much as he appeared to be. "This is probably first vacation I've had since I was six..." The last one was to an oasis, but it hardly was an event she wanted to remember..especially the near drowning... Still, this was different and they were both adults here. "Not to say thats bad...we'll just figure it out...or just wing it..." Shrugging her shoulders, Arashi would then begin to unzip her hooded vest, allowing for the top layer to be removed from her shoulders as set it down beside her and revealing a bikini top beneath it. Considering that they were supposed to be civilians out and about, it would do her very little service to allow any action that would be seen otherwise. Such as basically morphing a swimsuit on. So she had made sure to at least have them beneath her attire. "It's all bout having fun right? So we just do the first thing that looks...fun..." It was strange that she had to say this out loud, as if affirming it to herself as well. "Can't be that hard right?" Her hands would then rest on her knees, looking at him after nodding to herself. But soon after, waving her hand as she blushed. "Course! This is all you! No control on this venture whatso ever!"

It didn't dawn on him until seeing Arashi's odd expression that what he had said may have actually been the odd thing. Figuring out how to have fun at a beach should have come as naturally as breathing but the lack of itinerary was making things challenging. Life was full of going places, meeting people, being punctual, and having things to do from sun up to sun down. Sure, there were the occasional off days but in a place where the military were the main bulk of the 'do-ers' there was always something that needed to be done. Even before Asahi had become a shinobi he had run errands for his clan in regards to their business dealings and as his ranks rose so did his responsibility to both village and family. "I guess it does sound a little weird saying it out loud. I'm just so used to there being stuff to do. Some contact to meet or something. But.. you're right.. we'll, uh.. figure it out.."

The man had not even noticed his words spacing until the warm feeling on his cheeks snapped him out of his stupor, his attention drawn completely to the sight of Arashi changing into her swimwear. Clearing his throat the Kyokujitsu would quickly shift his gaze towards the sea. "What a great view, and the smell of salt water is something else, yeah? Just so... salty." A masterclass in covering his ass.

Arashi's declaration that it would be up to Asahi to decide what they were going to do on their vacation was even more pressure for him to make sure he got it right. He had spent a good chunk of time going over lists of things that sounded fun, things that each of them liked to do, liked to eat, may have wanted to see and experience and for only two people it was a surprisingly extensive list. Trying to get through it all would have them needing a second vacation from the first so they'd just have to take it one thing at a time.

"Alright so, first things first, let's just... be here. We've got sun, waves, a nice breeze and plenty of food and after all that traveling I think just sitting still for a while would be nice." Asahi would pause for a moment before continuing. "I figure this is also a good time to check in with each other. How we're feeling about things, about us. I-If you want to, of course. I'm perfectly fine with just sitting here, too."

Moment Music "Right! Just...enjoy the view...." In repeating what Asahi said, she'd note him averting his gaze from her, but smirk as she began to look over at the water. It really was nice, just being in that moment. It was something that she wanted to try at least doing more than she had. But there was so much to do, and usually there was someone that needed her to do something. That didn't change what she needed, and often avoiding self-care was bad habit. She had so many responsibilities now, and to add to it all was the decree that she was no longer under her father's command so to speak. Not that she was, but it was a bit off-setting and something that she had to get used to. The shadow was lifting, only to be replaced with another one that she didn't recognize. Though the pause was brief, Asahi's check in was probably more so for her benefit than his own, allowing her to turn her head to look at him as she nodded gently. "Okay...well..." Looking down slightly, she'd brush her hand across her face, pushing the bangs from her golden eyes as she smiled. "I think its like ya said before...we both have to work on being open with each other and communicating so..if I were to say how I'm feeling right now, its relief..." In saying that, Arashi would allow her smile to fade as she looked out, stretching her legs out as she turned on her side upon the towel. "A part of me...is relieved that my dad is no longer Kazekage...he deserves the rest...but...I'm also terrified...because now there's someone else who has control over me...and I don't know them..." Saying this aloud, it was enough to give some way for breath as she held her hand against her chest. "I don't know what to make of any of it...and not knowing who has my kill switch bugs me...but I think thats somethin for another time...and not for this..." As she did her best to draw away from her matters, she'd then look down before sighing. "As for us...I cant' think of anyone else I'd rather share my time with...and I hope that...despite everything else...we can keep doing that...when we can...and this is a great place to start...and less hazardous..." Arashi would then point toward him as she stared at him. "Okay...your turn...how are you doing? I imagine being a SP. Jounin is a nice plus but how are you feeling with..everything else?"

Sitting on a beach with such an amazing view may not have been the ideal locale to start a heart to heart conversation about the state of their relationship, but it was a talk that was going to happen during their vacation at some point and Asahi thought it best to get it out of the way now for a couple reasons. Firstly, it would have been awkward if one of them were holding onto some serious thoughts or reservations about things and being forced to not be able to speak on them for some time, and if there were any adjustments that needed to be made to make their trip more enjoyable they would literally have all the time to do so.

He'd listen to Arashi speak on how she was relieved that Takato no longer had the stress of running the village weighing him down. The man had been Kazekage for as long as Asahi could remember and even after his official retirement the name was still synonymous with the title in his mind. But the stark reality of someone else having the reigns to what lay sealed inside the woman became apparent with her further thoughts on the matter which seemed both invasive and awkward. It was no secret that the biju was a village's trump card and the jinchuriki it was sealed in a weapon to be used at the discretion of those in charge, and even though Asahi had known about this power for years he had grown to see Arashi as just a person which while admirable did little to bring true empathy to her situation.

From the kinda-outside looking in the dynamic between Arashi and Takato in all its many layers never seemed that of a weapon/meister though it would've been foolish to believe that the man didn't have plans for utilizing that power if the need arose. Perhaps because of them being family it had stayed his hand but the same could not be said about the new leader. It had been a sentiment on the woman's mind for some time it seemed but before Asahi could respond the subject was shifted to avoid dwelling on such an unpleasant topic.

In the end she was enjoying being able to spend more time together and that was what she wanted to focus on, to which Asahi could happily agree with. The onus now shifted to the Kyokujitsu and his thoughts and feelings on not only life but their relationship as well. "Well, getting over the hump of being a chunin does feel great. Thought for a while it may never have happened but I'm glad to have taken that next step. That said, I kinda have similar feelings about this new guy. Your dad, er, Takato-san helped me out so much over the years and I probably shouldn't have been one of his bodyguards at such a young age and I think him knowing me for as long as he has helped make that decision. But this new guy doesn't know me from a grain of sand so what if he brings in his own bodyguards? I haven't really thought about what else I want to do, but I assume a conversation is waiting for me when we get back." Just as soon as Arashi had moved on from a depressing topic Asahi had launched into one of his own. This was a season of change and when it possibly involved one's livelihood it was hard not to think about it.

"Other than that.. I have to be intentional about making more time for you. I know with us being in the thick of our duties it can be tough but I think I'm using that as a crutch to justify it. With that said, I still really enjoy all the time we spend together and I can't imagine being here or anywhere with someone else. I'm happy and want to do everything I can to stay that way and make sure you are, too." Sappy, and the butterflies in his stomach still fluttered about till this day when talking sweet to Arashi which was probably a good sign in some weird way.

Moment Music "Asahi...." It looked like both of them were still somewhat reeling over everything. In truth, while she may have been worried about being a possible cannon for the new kage, Asahi was in the prospects of possibly not even having a position with the new reign. It was true, some kage brought in their own people, and that was usually people they could trust. Asahi would be a stranger to him, but that didn't make him incapable of doing the job. "Don't sell yourself short....he wouldn't have kept you around if he didn't at least see something worth his time. I don't hear anything short of praise of what you do...and the new Kage would be crazy not to keep you..." The best thing they could do was motivate each other, and she could do that for Asahi as long as he needed it. Though much like her, he was able to change topics just as easily, prompting her to smirk as he began to speak on their relationship. As many couples would seem to get through the motions easily, it was still somewhat of a struggle for both of them at times. Especially when it came to balancing it. Still, they both wanted to commit to making it work, and Asahi seemed to state that just as firmly as he looked at her. "Wow...intentional....Heh heh..." As she laughed into her hand, she'd grin as he stated how much he still enjoyed spending time with her, much to her overly girlish delight as she shook her head. "You are so corny...but I still love you..." Leaning in, she'd cup her hands gently under his face, kissing him lightly upon the lips as she pulled back. "Glad I'm not boring ya cause I could easily start some shit if ya want...al otta sand out here sooo..." While she teased, it was good to hear that they were both still willing to keep this going. After all this time, and with everything they went through together. It was...well..it felt good...to have something that was at least staying the way it was..and that it wasn't going away. Something stable... Still looking at him, she'd then cross her legs beneath her, adjusting the red mid-drift across her lap as she then released a breath. ""You...make me happy...you don't have to do anything to get that...I feel safe...around you...and thats something no one else does...and thats all I need....okay?"

Getting used to taking compliments was not an easy thing partly because it was hard to figure out if the person delivering them was saying such things to prevent any awkward air from forming though if there was one person who was sincere in every word they said it was Arashi, and given her position if people were indeed saying he was doing a good job then it must have been true. "Yeah... yeah you're right. There's a reason I was already there so that's gotta count for something." He'd reply with a confident smile. She always knew how to cheer him up; stress him out, too, but the cheering up definitely outweighed it.

All things considered the Kyokujitsu thought he had done a good job tip toeing the line between baring his soul and not saying a bunch of mushy stuff but to Arashi it still came off as corny, though that didn't diminish her love for him in the slightest. The feeling of lips pressing against his was warmer than the desert sun beaming down on them and for that moment all his worries about work, romance, and making time for everything washed away. Eyes widened at the threat of utilizing all the sand around them to get into some trouble and it took a couple moments for Asahi to realize that the woman was joking as usually when the woman revealed her intentions aloud it was a warning for other people to get with the program or get out of the way.

He'd listen to the woman speak on how she felt safe and happy with him which was all she needed. Of course, Asahi would not listen because his intention would be to give her the world but the sentiment was understood all the same judging from the big grin on his face. "I hear ya. Well, all that mushy talk you were doing turned the heat up so I think it's time for a dip. You're not gonna melt in the ocean are ya?" The man would chide.

It wouldn't take long for him to get his shirt off exposing a slightly toned but form of someone who did more cardio than actual weightlifting. Asahi was not a taijutsu specialist in the slightest but he was still in relatively good shape. If Arashi decided to join him he'd offer a hand so they could walk to the water's edge together, the waves gently lapping at their feet; even baking under the day's sun it was still cool to the touch. "Feel's a lot better than that time you decided to get kidnapped by pirates, eh?"

Ocean Swim As she looked back to see if he was following, she'd smirk to see him right at her heels, propelling herself further into the depths of the water as they looked upon the view. The world was a different place beneath the waves, it was full of far more life and seemed at peace with itself. Granted, there was just as many dangers, but in what they could see as they continued through the crystal blue surroundings was aquatic life going about their business as though they were hardly there. Schools of fish would swim past, moving forward into their shallow homes within the reefs below. The jagged landscape of the deep below them would show signs of bottom feeders attempting to catch their meals, stingrays gliding along the lower bottom as if they were flying. As she stopped to look at it, she'd let herself float there for a time, seeing all this and finding the joy in it as she pointed out the sights in silence. She could even see a shark in the distance, but it clearly was disinterested in them as it looked toward what looked to be easier prey further out. As the light above would reflect the inner workings around them, she'd then note a passing dolphin as it and their pod moved passed and seemed to be attempting to aid in them learning to breach the surface for air. A different world, but still beautiful in it's mystery. Arashi would take the time to see this act of parentage, then noting how they might want to go up for air as she began to point toward the surface as she started to swim upward. As she reached it, she'd keep herself above water as she could hardly contain herself. "You saw that!? The shark was a big as Nai!" Laughing with a grin, she'd wipe the water from her eyes as she keep herself afloat by continually cycling her legs.

"I'm actually great at directions now after all these years of having to figure out where you ran off to." The man would quip back. It was actually a mystery how Asahi had managed to struggle with finding his way to and around places when he was younger. Being the son of merchants and part of a clan that until very recently had exclusively traveled the deserts of Kaze no Kuni should have meant that directions were a piece of cake. Perhaps it was all the unique locales and the situations that had brought him there, but that was a thing of the past. His focus would shift from the sea to the woman standing before him as he once again felt the sun's intensity turn up a notch and his face go all hot for a couple seconds. Weird.

The tug on his hand was more than enough of a signal for him to follow her deeper into the water as he listened to Arashi speak on how she had learned how to swim since the last time they had been in some water together. He couldn't really blame her for the last instance all things considered and part of it had definitely been his fault for letting his emotions lead his actions while trying to get her back.

"Oh? I can't wait to see this."

She would beckon him to swim along after her before disappearing beneath the waves and with a deep breath Asahi would himself sink beneath the surface as he began to swim after the woman. Though the winds may have normally swpet tons of sediment into the shore causing murky conditions the range of mountains that blocked Ouetsu from the remainder of the desert acted as a natural barrier resulting in crystal clear waters allowing them to see small schools of tiny fish that called the shallows home, or at least home long enough until they were large enough to fend for themselves in open water.

Asahi's main focus, of course, was on following his girlfriend in whatever direction she felt like swimming and enjoying the view... of the ocean.

As the light above would reflect the inner workings around them, she'd then note a passing dolphin as it and their pod moved passed and seemed to be attempting to aid in them learning to breach the surface for air. A different world, but still beautiful in it's mystery. Arashi would take the time to see this act of parentage, then noting how they might want to go up for air as she began to point toward the surface as she started to swim upward. As she reached it, she'd keep herself above water as she could hardly contain herself. "You saw that!? The shark was a big as Nai!" Laughing with a grin, she'd wipe the water from her eyes as she keep herself afloat by continually cycling her legs.

A Skill granted by her continued use and developed relationship with Shukaku over the continued use of his control over sand, Arashi has a stronger connection to the element, allowing her to use it at a much more intensive rate than before. As such, her defenses are much more adapt and capable of taking on stronger attacks and reinforcing itself at faster speed. This adaptation to the sand shield allows for it's reaction time to have increased and make it more challenging for attacks to connect and break through the first layer, while acting still on the natural inclinations of auto-repairing itself for the next strike.

Following suit beneath the waves would bring the two into a completely different sphere teeming with life. For all the towns, villages and civilization that had been built above ground there was hundreds times more right beneath the surface of the water. Fish of all varieties, huge lobsters and crabs looking for meals while trying not to become one themselves, and a living reef just... existing. It was hard to believe that so many people had never, and would never, get an opportunity to see such things and while it was a pipe dream perhaps if more people got to experience such views there'd be a little less strife in the world.

Asahi would scan from side to side taking in all the sights mostly following where Arashi was pointing at until, far off in the distance, the visage of a shark could be seen. The man tensed for a moment at the sight as he was instantly reminded that this was their domain and that for all the fancy jutsu he knew he was very much at a disadvantage underwater. Thankfully the creature either hadn't noticed them or didn't care to expend the energy to figure out if they were worth eating and for the moment was minding its own business. Another point from the woman and another unique creature spotted: this time a pod of dolphins! The way their bodies glided through the water with what looked like minimal effort was amazing, but may have been even more astonishing was how much life was just in this small section of the sea. The two weren't all that far from the shore and had seen almost a lifetime's worth of sea creatures, who knew what they may have seen had they the opportunity to explore the oceans depths.

Arashi would give one final siganl to return to the surface so that they could catch their breath, and in all his excitement Asahi had nearly forgotten that he did in fact need to take a breath every now and then. He would follow the woman back up to the surface making sure to keep his feet kicking to tread water. "Too big for comfort if you ask me, but those dolphins looked really cool, and I didn't have a sinking feeling that they might want to take a bite out of us." He replied. It shouldn't have been a surprise that the woman was enthralled with the most dangerous thing in the ocean, but it was consistent with her personality if nothing else.

Ocean Swim "Pfft...are ya sayin ya couldn't take it?" It was small jab, but honestly for the best that they weren't picking fights with the locals. This was their home, and they were just doing what they did best. Thankfully, the shark had been inclined to avoid them due to other interests. Still, this was far more amazing than what she had seen in Iwagakure. If at all in any of the oasis she'd seen in the desert. It was as though they had entered into another plane of existence, and it was just a small window into it. Continuing to brush the damp strands of hair from her face, Arashi would then laugh as she held her nose to sink back down, disappearing once more as she sank further in. She'd see the glow of jellyfish as she went deeper into the water, the flow of the current gently pushing against her body, and the slight chill that came from having her barrier lessened by the exposure. It was giving her sensations she rarely felt. Such as cold for one. As if the layer that had shielded her was granted access to vanish and just let her feel everything around her. It was more than just amazing, it was mind blowing... Upon gently touching one of he raised bedrocks at the bottom, she'd float there as she watched the creatures at the bottom appear and disappear upon realizing their intruder. It was brief, but she could make out the small crabs and miniature fish as they scattered further away. The glimmer of their scales flickering with light in their departure. As she continued to scan the area, her golden gaze would pick up on another stingray moving passed her, prompting her to float out it's path as it began it's hot pursuit of the scattering fish.

"That's a perfectly reasonable thing to be worried about, just so you know." Asahi replied. Sure, if he absolutely had to fight a shark he could probably take it down given his capabilities but as a normal civilian that they were supposed to be passing off? Not a chance in hell. Thankfully the creature had so far decided to not bother the duo so they were free to continue their exploration of the undersea wonderland. Another deep breath and the man would be back underwater this time heading for a piece of the reef that Arashi had found most interesting. This time around they had dove deep enough to spot jellyfish and other creatures that called the seabed their home.

The gentle sway of the current was a new feeling and it was akin to a strong breeze on land, though the main difference being the ability to anchor themselves down to prevent being blown over while down here there was little else they could do but be moved. Fortunately the strength of the current wasn't something that a few kicks couldn't counter so for the most part Asahi was able to keep himself in the same place.

Asahi would swim his way next to Arashi to join in her watching the various sea life scurry away from their arrival. They had no intentions of hurting anything that lived down here but then again it was a natural response to something much, much larger than yourself showing up out of the blue. The Kyokujitsu would lean in to plant a kiss on the woman's cheek before giving her a toothy grin, which in all his wisdom allowed some air to escape in a parade of bubbles; but unlike those fleeting pockets of air Asahi was ready to stay in this moment forever.
