All the clues had led them here. A collection of meetings with surviving citizens, farmers who had missing animals, and damages to buildings that wouldn't normally be caused by earthquakes. The phenomena was indeed strange. After looking at all the evidence, the shinobi who were sent to both Iksu and Hayabiru would be convinced that it wasn't only strange, but also unnatural. They had heard that particularly odd movements and shrieks from strange men and women had occurred in the area weeks before the beginning of the tremors, and odd enough, was here that the tremors originated.

Rain began to pour as they entered the backcountry, both groups meeting up with each other. Those coming from Hayabiru would quickly discover that their partners from Iksu were down a man. Uchiha Hiruko was left for dead under city ruble, but the two Genin remarkably persevered and kept on task. Up ahead, there was a cave that looked particularly suspicious. Judging by the nearby footprints in the mud, there was evidence to believe that others had been recently been there. The only way to get more sure answer was to leap into the darkness that loomed ahead.

All the unnatural events that occured within the two villages led up to this point. Shiratama and Hanadoki had reconnected with the second unit who were dispatched to the other village opposite of them. The band of shinobi found themselves in a rather subtle secluded mossy area which appeared to be unaffected by the multitude of tremors. Shiratama found that bit of detail odd and not only that but now he was faintly able to sense the chakra signatures that were further inside. If it weren't for the foot tracks, the young Senju wouldn't have come to the immediate conclusion that there were possible enemies up ahead.

In a way it made him furious knowing that all of this chaos came to fruition because of pesky shinobi, they had already lost an important comrade which intially left a bad taste in Shiratama's mouth. Unlike most times, the conversational Senju didn't say much to his subordinate Hanadoki during their travel to this point. He was still feeling bitter over the fact that she stopped him saving the boy and ultimately her older sister Hiruko. He understood that those of Uchihan lineage were undoubtly skillful shinobi, but that fact alone didn't make him feel less of the shinobi he felt destined to be. At this point in time with the other five remaining shinobi standing alongside him, Shiratama now felt obligated to keep everyone safe. He wasn't going to let anyone else suffer the same fate as Hiruko for the remainder of the mission.

Especially Hanadoki. . .

THEME

Now glaring over at the Uchiha princess with his eyes narrowed, he clenched his fist and silently mumbled to himself "I will protect everyone". Despite his bitterness towards Hanadoki, he still could not forget the fact that she saved him and kept from sustaining any severe injuries. Her act of heroism was not to go unanswered, atleast not on Shiratama's watch.

He took a step forward towards the darkness ahead where additional footprints could be seen. Crouching down, he swept two fingers across the ground to determine how fresh the prints were. He also kneaded his chakra to try and locate the potential enemies hidden within.

"Everyone, I think now we should be more careful going forward. . . I can faintly sense chakra coming from inside. This must mean the answers to the tremors isn't too far ahead.

Before deciding to advance deeper into the enclosed area, Shiratama awaited to hear what Hyuga kunoichii could infer about the area through her prolific doujutsu. Hopefully those "All seeing" eyes were be able to provide them with just a little more insight to understand what exactly they were preparing to journey into.

Soar Above All.

"It's......my ......fault. The blame is with me......yet again. Here I am........having failed myself once more...." she'd mumble to herself, her head down as she moved towards the destination. She had completed her mission with Shiratama but it was definitely not something she was proud of. The boy and Hiruko died or rather, missing in action, simply due to the fact that Hanadoki decided to put her faith in her last sibling, to come home, showed promise, and meant well by her actions. Deciding to finally give someone else that open space in her heart, and their first mission together ends disastrously. Inside something had snapped......no......something had died. There was no one out of her immediate family left alive and for this, she could only blame herself. What she was feeling was not wrong, but it was a twisted thought in and of itself. Her failure to find a way to control Kyuubi in a month also failed and that was why her best friend died. The extraction was of course, not her fault, but Hanadoki couldn't sit by and do nothing. She had searched and searched for anything that could give her an edge. She was desperate, and yet to no avail.

THEME

The young genin was over people risking their lives and telling her things would be okay and having to trust someone else. Hanadoki had never been allowed to be a child, all of the deaths of those closest to her affected her more than anyone would ever know but she couldn't grieve. Her place as the leader was to show her people the light....no matter how far she was in the darkness. Having been a clan leader since age eight, she has had her fair share of growing up in quite a quick time and death was no stranger to her. That meant both in and out of combat. Casualties and the like were also considered, run down by numbers in her mind. As much as she wanted to breakdown right there, it was something in Hanadoki that seemed to rage, boiling through her skin and mixing with her aura. Her rage was something that even she didn't have a full mastery over, HOWEVER, she never succumbed to it. It was simply something she put to use in all her actions and plans.

One tear would fall down her face, and for once, she was thankful that it was raining as hard as it was. To be so young, her sadness was an ancient one, but that was the end of it. Death was inevitable and anyone who got close to her would end up dead. That was something she knew based on her experiences alone, which would be fine as she would never attempt to rely on anyone else. That was the cause of all of this. Teamwork was wonderful until no one could do anything....but was that due to weakness or fear...or was it emotions that stalled people in their resolve. If she wanted to fight, she would fight, if she wanted to believe in herself, she would because only she could control her actions but you never knew how things would end. That was always an anomaly, but you could always rely on your own strength as you always knew what you were capable of, and that was a lesson she had come to completely grasp in all areas.

"Inokai....I'm going to have to break that promise I made." she'd whisper, before her eyes dulled turning a deep crimson, her third tomoe active in her eyes now. She had already decided that death awaited all who stood before them. There would be no more tears, no more trust, no more deaths based on emotions. Of course, she wouldn't go rogue and abandon her teammates but at this point, everyone was just someone brought on the mission with her. She wouldn't rely on them to have her back at every turn or something of the like. They were simply here to achieve a goal as a unit. Simple. Though, Shiratama brought her out of her thoughts as they arrived, her eyes dead as they connect with his glare. She was sure he was thinking something stupid again, still upset about the incident, but oh, Hanadoki could understand that well enough as it seemed Shiratama didn't have too much experience with things of that nature.

The young Uchiha would be talking to herself, though out loud for the benefit of the group, "The damage from the chakra spike lead here as the epicenter. We shouldn't have to wait long once we enter the darkness. I'm sure, whoever it is or whoever they are, have been alerted of our presence." she said calmly, maybe a little too calmly. This would be the first time the others had seen her Sharingan but the second for Shiratama.

When the two Genin began to proceed into the cave, they would discover that it was pitch black. The deeper into the cavern they went, the less they would be able to see their own hands in front of their faces. While the Uchiha's newly acquired Third Tomoe sharingan helped to some extent, they were mostly travelling into the unknown. Lucky for them, Daigo of Bastion had equipped them with flashlights, but they were quite meager. Upon turning them on, the two would be able to see up to ten meters to their front.

As soon as they got acclimated to their surroundings they would hear an ominous rumbling. The tremors were happening again! Whatever bearings they had would have been lost as it felt like the cave heavily swayed to its sides, similar to that of a boat over a large body of water. Sharp, dangling edges naturally formed over time due to erosion at the roof of the cave. The quakes however cared little for this formations and would send them hurtling for the duo. They were sharp and heavy enough to decapitate, which should have given more than enough motivation protect themselves by either relying on their shinobi skills or running deeper into the cave.

GRRRUUUUUU....BANG

Subsequently after the rumblings there seemed to be a rockslide of some sort off in the distance....It must have been the entrance! If the duo decided to check, they would discover that there the opening in which they entered from was entirely closed off by large boulders. It didn't take a genius to know that any attempts to reopen it with brute force would result in a situation for more dangerous....Their only options now were to proceed deeper into the cave and continue with the investigation. Maybe....just maybe....along the way they would find a way to get out of this predicament.

Just at they would turn the narrow corner the two would bump into what seemed to be.....a backpack and other hiking equipment. This would only bring further unanswered questions.

Venturing deeper into the cave was there only option. As many would see this as a complete suicide mission, Shiratama remained firm with each step forward and like earlier during the incident with Hiruko, Shiratama was willing to put his body on the line for the safety of his comrades. That much was evident considering he was first to start setting foot into the cave. Hanadoki of course not too far behind him.

Hanadoki's Crimson hues made Shiratama feel uneasy, Yes he had once before witnessed the eyes that marked the prolific lineage of the Uchiha clan but this time was different. The very air around Hanadoki at this moment was different. It didn't take a sensor to sense the unyielding will of revenge emanating from the Uchiha clan leader.

Shiratama wouldn't speak a word of the feeling, but rather decided to a moments glance at his Raven-haired comrade hoping she would keep her mind clear of ill thoughts. Before he could fix his lips into uttering comforting words, the tremors began to occur.

"Urrrrahhh! The tremors! Everyone brace yourselves"

Shouted the Senju as he could literally feel his balance being overthrown. He was quick to withdraw a kunai from his pouch only to swiftly stab into the wall beside him. Embedding the kunai into the wall seemed to help stabilize his balance for the mean-time. However as the tremors continued, the stalagmites from up above started to crumble and plummet down towards both himself Hanadoki. Usually Shiratama would attempt to fend off the falling debris with a destructive ninjutsu but with him having little to not balance to execute such a plan made it futile.

At this moment there was only one thing to do, even if it meant having to separate himself and Hanadoki from the group.

"Hanadoki!"

Shiratama hollered as he released his grip from his embedded kunai and made a quick reach for his comrade. He grabbed her by her arm and with all of strength, he sprung forward for a courageous leap deeper into the cave. Ultimately, the two would tumble only coming to a complete stop when Shiratama's back slammed against the concrete wall. At this time Hanadoki was awkwardly pressed to his chest but Shiratama didn't think anything of it, he was much more concerned with her safety above all else.

"Are you alright?"

Questioned the Senju as he struggled to get back into his feet. Thanks to his little heroic stunt he suffered the pain of a fractured rib. He was determined to ignore ongoing pain for the time being, he'd only grimace when he placed a hand on his injured left rib.

His eyes observing the damage caused by the tremor made it apparent now that they were the only two to make it pass. The others had to be on the opposite side of the rubble and would likely have to find another way in. For Shiratama and Hanadoki, their only option now was the same option as before, move forward.

"It looks like it's just you and me, again"

Uttered the Senju while giving a slight chuckle at the end.

Soar Above All.

Hanadoki walked behind her teammate, close to his heels just in case something came in his direction. There was no way she was losing anyone else. She planned to make whoever did this pay, and they would pay dearly. Her anger hadn't gotten the best of her yet, but it seemed to consume her aura completely. It didn't take rocket science to know that right now she was not to be trifled with, even in the joking format. She could sense that her aura was slightly unnerving but that didn't matter, her mind was clear except for the focus of finding whatever was coming for them because she demanded retribution from whoever and whatever it was. Things were not going to end well for them and they would know the terror of death that would fall upon them like lighting to a metal rod. It would be suffocating and blinding, knowing no end.

Her path had been set, but little did she know, things didn't plan to go according to how she would like them to. Right before Shiratama opened his mouth to speak, the tremors erupted from the earth again, but this time shaking the entire place and instead of fighting the swaying motion, the raven haired Uchiha would flow with it, from side to side, her balance having been thrown off but her eyes were ever alert, the flashlight held tightly in hand for anything that decided to attack them from the front or behind. She was determined to catch sight of something and to her dismay, the attack would come from above as she heard the crack of something from the roof and realized it was caving in after all. Before she could push off the wall to fly forward, Shiratama screamed her name, causing her to look in his direction but he yanked her arm, pulling her away from the group and further along their path. Finally gathering her footing completely, since she hadn't been allowed to earlier, they would leap from the hallway and into the darkness. Though, to her surprise, Shiratama pulled her into his chest, holding her close to protect her from the impact and or damage.

Upon impact his back had hit a wall and Hanadoki was slightly shaken but nothing too bad, maybe a bruise or two from the landing but Shiratama had broken most of it. She had meant for him to protect himself and yet here he was trying to play hero again. The first time she had saved him, this time, he pulled an act to save her. Regardless of whether she was able to get out on her own or not, now here she was in his arms and separated from the rest of the group. Instead of worrying about himself, HE was asking if SHE was alright. As much as she wanted to punch him, she wouldn't and couldn't. He made everything difficult, even if he didn't mean to. "I'm fine." she'd say loud enough for him to hear before moving off of him and allowing him to stand, but her eyes didn't miss his grimace, nor did they miss where he placed his hand, as if that would stop the pain. Great, now he was injured for having tried to protect her and she couldn't tell how much so. Putting her head down, the Uchiha would stand, looking around the room for a brief moment, she would come to the conclusion that forward was the only way to go. That didn't help in the slightest though, because now Shiratama wouldn't be able to defend himself as best as he would had he not done that.

People's recklessness is what got them into this exact position thus far. Looking up at Shiratama as he made his last statement about it being just them again btought Hiruko's death to the forefront of her mind. All she could do was watch the earth settle, with bodies probably underneath the rubble and her heart shattered all over again but this time she held herself together. Placing her arms around herself as if to literally hold herself up, she'd sign and it was a sigh of exasperation. She never allowed her emotions to come out like this and it was rare for anyone to see this. Letting go, she'd look up at Shiratama as she stood before him, "You know, you're pretty reckless.....I appreciate you grabbing me....but I can't........I WON'T.....lose both of you to this. You can't protect me all the time you know." she'd say as she now entered his personal space placing her hand gently against where Shiratama had earlier on his left rib. It wasn't a poke or a prod, but just so she could assess his injury. "You okay?" she asked, actual concern touching her voice for once.

With a shake of her head, she'd come back to her senses completely, her mind free from the haze of rage for right now. Her being enraged threw Shiratama off and that would only cause him to act even more recklessly as he could never seem to completely mind his own business. Turning the corner onto a narrow path with Shiratama close behind her, she would notice some hiking gear on the left side and further up was the trail to begin. Taking the backpack as that was the heaviest item, she'd leave the small pack for Shiratama. "We can only go forward, and I know you won't not do anything stupid. So I'll lead us through. Come on and stay close to me." she'd say calmly, before reactivating her Sharingan. She needed to be able to move at a moment's notice and if she did need to move like that she would need for him to be able to move with her.

Not to mention, if someone was crazy enough to attack she would attempt two genjutsu at once, choking out one target, while flaying the other one's soul alive in another dimension. At least, that was where her mindset was. Getting out was going to be difficult.

The boy's heroics proved successful because the duo would find kicked up dust and smashed rocks in their wake. In the recoil however, he had fractured his rib. The pain however would be ephemeral. With time, he would be able to walk it off, keeping in mind that he just needed to make sure not to make movements that were too sudden, or get hit on the same spot. The knowing his condition, the girl was quick to pick up the hiking materials before them, giving Shiraitama the lighter materials. If he been nosy enough use his flash light and search these belongings, he would find several documents. One of which had the passport of none other than the famous Hi no Kuni survivalist Hiker Dan. Could it have been possible that these bags belonged to him?

The two would continue ahead down the dark cave and find themselves at a divide. There were pathways to their right and left, both of which looked identical.....except for the fact there were footprints on the floor of the right path. Even if this had intrigued the Genin's interest, further down their 10 meters of visibility glowing red eyes would suddenly emerge. Growling would subsequently follow, as whatever it was would take off running straight for the duo!

The beast would come into full view, showing two powerful legs and incredibly powerful legs with three large talons on the end of each. Its large, heavy head is made up of a series of thick bony plates held together by muscle and sinew, making it look all the more menacing. It headed for Hanadoki only because she had been closer. His mouth opened wide as he would try and get a chunk out of the woman's side.

No training could have prepared them for something like this. It certainly was no beast they had ever seen or heard of, but they had a few options. They could have taken their chances with the beast and fight, or they could try to outrun it by taking the path to the left.

"My bad princess, my body sorta reacted on its own heheh”

Quickly responded Shiratama to Hanadoki’s mention of him recklessly going out of his way to protect her. His guard was down when he was approached by Hanadoki who seemed to somehow be aware of his minor injury, she gently placed her hand upon his damaged rib which forced Shiratama’s cheeks to immediately turn a light shade pink. Sadly during such a time like this he hadn’t the luxury to screw around. However realizing Hanadoki was so attentive and actually cared for his well-being made him see his fellow comrade in a different limelight that he couldn’t quite put into words at this moment.

"No need to worry, I ‘m alright. Worrying about this silly little bruise is far more reckless then me jumping to save you… Anyways lets get going, we need to figure out what the heck is going on”

He exclaimed, seeking to shed attention away from his small injury and keep Hanadoki focused on their mission. They proceeded through cave with caution, after turning a corner they stumbled upon a set of hiking gear which appeared to be abandoned. Hanadoki quickly grabbed the heavier items and left Shiratama with the light, which he picked up on immediately. Shiratama being Shiratama found it to be the appropriate time to throw a little more of a fit. Who knew, perhaps it’d convince his teammate that he wasn’t really injured at all.

"Hey just because I fell you know you don’t have to treat me like I’m the princess, here I don’t think that’s really fair of you.”

To refrain from wasting time he grabbed the light items anyway, but still he had to make it known that it did not sit well with him that Hanadoki took it upon herself to carry the burden. He gave her a stern nod when she ordered him to stay close but all he could think about was the unfathomable rage hidden behind those demonic red eyes. It was as if Shiratama wished he could calmly express to her to "calm down and relax” but how could he say such a thing? Especially to someone who lost her blood sister because of this mess. There was no way from keeping Hanadoki from giving her absolute all during this mission so the only appropriate course of action for Shiratama to take was to respond by giving it his all as well.

With the sudden stop of the tremors, Shiratama figured as they walked this would be the opportune time to see what exactly was in the stuff they were carrying. He searched through the bag with his flashlight and discovered various documents which seemed to be connected with fire nation’s renown survivalist "Hiker Dan”. Confusion struck the Senju as he tried deciphering obscure documents, he wasn’t sure what this was all about but something told him that they were in for something highly dangerous.

"If the Fire country’s most famous survivalist didn’t survive in this cave then man, we’re in for something extremely dangerous that may be looking out to kill us”

Shorty after disclosing that small inference, the predator hidden within began to reveal itself. Peeking over Hanadoki’s shoulder he could see the red circular eyes in the darkness. It was an eerie sight and the creatures discourteous growling made the situation all the more creepy. For the brief moment they had to stand frozen before the beast decided to begin its rampage, Shiratama touched the shoulder of his comrade and spoke.

"I am not sure what we’re up against but something tells me that creature certainly knows this cave better than us… There’s no telling where this opposite path will lead us. We can try and take this thing down and check out the path from where it came from or try to make a break for it. You should choose quickly because its starting to come towards us right now! . . . Just know that I’ve got your back, I trust your decision”

Shiratama spoke quicker than normal, he hoped Hanadoki was able to retain everything he said and if she didn’t hopefully she understood that she needed to make a choice immediately. In case Hanadoki chose to engage in combat, the young genin began mustering up chakra in his right hand in preparation of activating a small form of his combustion technique. He knew that if he needed to try and land a direct hit, this technique was perfect. He’d deliver a sizzling scorching blow to the creature if that route Hanadoki decided to take.

Only thing Shiratama was worried about was being in such a narrow space and trying to fight efficiently against the monster. They still had to keep in mind that the tremors could still happen at any moment and throw them completely off balance.

While Konoha's Genin found themselves in a bind, deep in the cave's interior there was an equally stressing situation going on...

"Please sir! Punish me! She's done nothing to deserve this!"

"Next time you try to escape, it will be your daughter."

"Mummy!"

With the flick of his jagged sword, the mad scientist mercilessly slashed at the woman's back. With her arms and legs tied down, she simply did not have any options of escape. Like a sitting block of wood, she fell over after the attack and landed with a dull thud. Before her lied her young daughter, who could not have been any older than ten years of age. "Mama...", she screeched lowly with tears of fear and sadness rushing down her once rosy cheeks. The only thing that separated the two were bars of metal, but the bond between mother and child had made it feel like thousands of miles.

"It's going to be alright hun'...", she tried her best to remain looking positive despite laying on the dirtied tile floor with blood seeping out the sides of her mouth as the large gash that went diagonally from her hip to shoulder oozed crimson. "It's going to be alright..."

The family was not the only one who had become accustomed to this man's savagery. He had several others under his palm, carrying out his bidding. Failure was often punished with the loss of life.

"Where's test subject #36?", he asked after nonchalantly walking over to the various man-sized capsules that held the beasts he brewed.

"Kojiro-sama...I hate to tell you this, but it got away..."

Kojiro the mad scientist suspiciously examined the broken shards of glass and scattered ooze. He was severely disappointed, but like any good head of a project, he wouldn't show it.

We will no longer be needing your services in this endeavor. You're free to go now Shinji."

"Kojiro-sama please.....it was an honest mistake.", he argued half-heartily. He was more than willing to leave this hell hole.

"I've made my decision and it's final. Take you belongings and leave."

And Shinji would do just that with no further rebuttal. Kojiro watched the man quickly pack his equipment up, and the surrounding workers watched enviously. They wondered if it meant they should all start making unforced errors.

"Free to leave this world.", he muttered under his breath as he used the same jagged blade soaked in the woman's blood and severed the wires that operated 5 of the capsules. Moments later more the beasts within the capsules would emerge from their shackles and run instinctively for the door. The same door Kojiro exited from...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Still only at the extremity of the cave, the Genin couple would know nothing of the dire situation. They still struggled with their new opponent. The beast still ran straight for Hanadoki. The boy would yell that he trusted her, but he would be let down. A moment of indecision had frozen the girl as the raging beast approached. If not for a last minute decision from this unknown beast, she would have been as good as dead meat when it yanked Hiker Dan's bag right out of her hand with his powerful bite.

His enormous head ground and chewed his belongings as it unknowingly whacked her in the gut with it's huge thick tail, likely sending her crashing into the cave wall, sustaining painful bruises and a small open cuts. His eyes were then set on Shiraitama after spotting the shine of his pouch. The beast would attempted to use his huge head and headbutt the lad. With the weight and speed of the beast, he would know that the last thing he would want to do was to get directly hit by it.

"Hanadoki?! Did you hear me?”

Shiratama questioned as he noticed his comrade didn’t budge a muscle. She stood frozen before him while the rapid beast charged forward. Initially, Shiratama assumed Hanadoki had some sort of plan in mind but apparently this was not the case. She was tossed aside like a rag-doll, forcing Shiratama to take the lead. Now having acquired all of beast’s attention, the young Senju slowly lifted his right arm which ignited into a scorching flame. With sweat beginning to drip from his forehead, Shiratama couldn’t help but smirk over the thought that he finally was able to test out this technique. He made sure to toss aside hiker dan’s equipment to a safe spot behind him in case things got ugly.

". . . . So you think it is okay to hit girls without proper training ettiequte, huh?”

He would question, his tone subtle and seemingly calm. He took a half step forward while carefully observing the creature as it tore through Hiker Dan’s items. It’s gargantuan stature and brute nature was enough for Shiratama to tell that he couldn’t simply take this ugly beast head on. It did anger him that the beast injured Hanadoki but he couldn’t afford to cloud his mind with anger. He had to be smart about this situation or else the both of them were as good as dead.

"Allow me, Senju Shiratama. . . Konohagakure’s Scorching Salamander, to teach you a lesson!”

With that said, the beast charged for Shiratama head first and Shiratama charged for the beast. His blazing arm brushed against the wall, destructively destroying through the rock formation. This was somewhat a traumatic moment for Shiratama as this attack he was attempting to execute was either do or die.

"Hrrrrrrahhhhhhhh!!!!!”

Yelling at the top of his lungs, Shiratama took a forward leap and drove his scorching fist into the ground with all of his might. The ground underneath him would ultimately begin to crumble, pebbles scattered everywhere. All Shiratama could do at this point was shield his eyes with his free hand and hope this attack impeded the movement of the creature. Considering that it had no arms, he was certain this plan would at the very least throw it off its balance.

Soar Above All.

Having seen the beast that approached, Hanadoki wasn't exactly struck by fear completely. It was most certainly something that she had never laid eyes upon but it looked unnatural as if it had been deprived of the most essential things a beast needed. She was backed into a corner, not wanting to move with Shiratama behind her. Her mind was rushing for a thought but her despair had been triggered instead of her rage, considering now she had been in her feelings, probably too much so earlier, revealing bits of herself. Looking at the beast, it was a simply thought: "Maybe I could join Hiruko here? Dying to something like this wouldn't be the worst way to go considering it's nothing we've ever seen before." However, just before she would get hit, the girl moved slightly, her body fighting her mind and instead she was knocked away, flying into the stalagmite wall. Her body would create a crater around herself from the impact, the rocks cutting her and a bruises slowly appearing on her flawless skin. One on each arm and the back of her neck. She was sure there were a few cuts on her back that stopped her from going further into the wall but that was neither here nor there.

Her head down as she heard Shiratama scream......Hanadoki would simply make a decision at that point. Memories of her father and everyone flashed through her mind. All the people she lost, all the people that relied on her to be the pinnacle of goals they wanted to reach. Even her siblings who had all died, and then her father.... It was at that moment, the Uchiha returned to her senses. Having her Sharingan active, she closed her eyes as she pushed herself from the crevices, her mind ignoring her pain signals as she drew two kunai, allowing the air to caress her body as she fell. "I'm sorry Daddy." she'd say for a brief moment, her eyes closing as she fell her aura seemed to change again, her failures leading up to this. "Kill all emotion...." those were her last words before she seemed to meld into the darkness, her body speeding through the small pathway and to the back right side of the beast.

Her Sharingan played in slow motion and with that, see would push her body to move faster than than had ever before, seeming to zip around the floor, not that Shiratama could see her. Watching Shiratama fight up front, she leaped on the wall in mid run pushing off to turn into a spinning top, her Kunai slashing its legs as she moved between them in a figure eight. As soon as her last kunai hit it's mark, the Uchiha would release it into the beast's thigh, her hands coming together to form handseals as she she slid back, dragon and tiger would flash on her hands before stomping her foot into the floor, the chakra seemingly disappearing from her feet, only to explode directly under the beast, a flaming vortex that burst up to the beasts sides. She only wanted to take its legs out for the rest would be simple.

Now still behind the beast, Shiratama's move she was glad for, it was strong enough to cause her to use the smaller things that added up. Following that first jutsu, she would quickly push off the wall and up to the ceiling right above the beast. Performing a few more handseals, her body bending back as she absorbed enough air, when she released, it was nothing but ash that flew two meters too the ground, right above the beast as that was her aiming point, but she wasn't done as the last speck of ash flew from her mouth, she'd already be performing her last set of handseals, instead of igniting it with the snap for the ash jutsu, a wild flame would start to appear in her hand, before she threw the orb, flying straight through the ash, turning into a wild flame that not even she could predict. The flames would do much more damage up close as the extent of the technique was eight feet. The blast would come from above, to the ground, that much she was sure of as she had covered the beast in all sides to make it explode, if not cook all that muscle. Covered in a flaming vortex of hate with all of her minor jutsu. If this was going to be a full on fight, she'd at least need to assess it's durability to fire. Whispering to herself, she'd murmur, "I'll kill you."

Pebbles scattered everywhere as the Senju's fist struck the ground. Flames created from his chakra precariously spread across the cave floor as the beast's rampaged ahead. These flames swiped its legs as it would screech wistfully in pain. Working in tandem with the Uchiha's 'Veil of Flame', the beast would be tipped over and fall cumbersomely on its side. It's large head lied mere feet away from the boy, and had they waited any longer to act, it certainly would have struck him.

In her run, the girl would inflict a deep wound on the back of it's legs, ensuring that the beast would not be getting up easy any time soon. She followed up with an aerial attack on the downed beast and covered it with ash, only to ignite the smokescreen with another of her flame attacks. Fire jutsu was Konohagakure's specialty, and the two Genin were doing an excellent job of conveying it. The beast would squirm hopelessly as it burned, rolling to its sides as it tried desperately to get back on its feet. The smell of burning flesh would fill the cave as the beast moved less and less. It gave out one last loud screech....almost as if it was alerting something before it went silent and motionless.

The Genin had successfully defeated the first of potentially many opponents, but if they were going to continue they were going to have to be a little smarter as to how they went about things. Although the damage Hanadoki had received was minimal, there was no telling how many of these things were lurking in the cave. If it took both of them to defeat the beast, they would have to individually try harder if they were up against two or more.

With no beast in sight, the Genin still had to decide which path they would take. There were identical openings to their right and left. If they had looked closer they would see that the passage to their left, although less rugged was narrower than the one to their right. There was indications that this path was probably traveled upon more. The right path was much wider and seemed to emit the sound of....running water?

Whichever way they took, the Senju would have the opportunity to look further into what was in Hiker Dan's bag. Beside his file folders and passport, he would find three canned beverages, one of which was an energy drink the other two beer. He would find a certain....inappropriate magazine which seemed to have a bookmark near it's middle. If Shiraitama had the audacity to look at this bookmark he would find that this bookmark was actually a folded letter. It read...

"My Dearest Sugita,

I know it has been ages since I've been home to celebrate our anniversary or one of our kids' birthdays, but I will promise you that this adventuring will soon be behind me. I will forever appreciate how you supported my decision to enter this business and moreover glad to inform you that after this season I will be back home at your side. With Iksu and Hayabiru being the last areas I haven't seen, I will have more time to be a family man, and we will finally be able to cash in on all the years of filming.

Your One and Only Danny Boy"

NOTES: "Dirty magazine?!"

With rock debris flying everywhere, it made it difficult for Shiratama to see what was going on. Thankfully, during this battle he had been kneading his chakra in order to detect any additional enemies within the area. There weren’t any enemy reinforcements on the way so the coast was clear, however picking up the trace of Hanadoki’s fiery chakra signature forced him to lift his head high to see what was going on.

In short, Hanadoki had turned the monster into a barbecue. It screeched as it was being engulfed in flames until all life was burnt from its body. Shiratama was exceedingly happy with the ending results, even during dangerous moments as this he still found time to smile. He stood up straight from his crouched position and took a moment to examine his right fist which was suffering from minor burns because of the combustion technique. It didn’t hurt him in slightest, he was use to incurring this level of damage at this point. Only injury he had to worry about going forward were his rib.

He walked over to where he had placed the bag containing majority of Hiker dan’s items. He picked it up and remembered from the las time he was digging through that there were beverages. Feeling thirsty, Shiratama took out the energy and one of the two cans of beer inside. As he did this, a dirty magazine fell out of the bag.

"Hanadoki, are you T-thirsty cause I ha-. . !?”

The magazine caught him off guard, he nearly almost dropped one of the beverages due to his attention being locked on the half nude woman posted on the cover. To be honest, Shiratama had honestly thought the female on the cover was Hanadoki, her hair was long and black and her physique was distinctively similar to that of Hanadoki’s. Without waiting another minute, he quickly snatched the magazine from the ground while trying to keep blood from rushing through his nostrils.

"What the heck is this?”

Shiratama would try to play it off as if he hadn’t a clue about the magazine. He took a quick glance at Hanadoki through his peripheral and then directed his attention back on book. He was prepared to open it and study its contents but before he could do so a letter slipped out. Thanks to his quick reflexes he was able to catch it before it hit the ground. He opened the letter without hesitation and immediately began reading it out loud.

’Hmmm, Hiker dan wrote this?!’

His eyes would slightly widen over discovering that small detail. After reading it’s contents, he offered the letter to Hanadoki hoping her Sharingan could decipher any small hints or clues from the letter. All Shiratama could infer was that this survivalist was away from Sugita for a very long time.

"Things are getting really weird Hanadoki . . . This creature differs greatly from the animals we’re use to seeing around Hi no kuni. I’m glad our fire techniques had a tremendous effect against it, we’ll have to keep that in mind as we keep pressing forward, and like I said before there could be more of these things so stay alert ..”

He popped open the beer can believing it was soda or a pop beverage of some sort. He took a large gulp only to end up spitting out towards the direction of Hanadoki.

"Yuuuuuckkk! What the hell is this? Rotten soda?!”

Tossing the can aside, Shiratama couldn’t believe how disgusting the flavor of the beer was. It even made him wonder even more about how sane this "Hiker Dan” person was. He wiped his mouth with the side of his forearm.

"I guess we should just get a move on, are you okay? I know you took quite a hit back there”

Soar Above All.

Having landed on the ground, Hanadoki set her eyes to burning beast, never once leaving it's boy until it's cries died out and it went completely limp. She wanted to make sure it was dead and the burning flesh was an indicator that the beast had been cooked pretty well, though, they could of course barbecue anything. Now looking over to Shiratama, the raven haired girl would watch him as she her eyes traveled to his point of focus: his right hand. Even from this distance she could see the burn marks. Her split second of indecision was what caused that to happen and yet, he was still smiling. Accepting her responsibility for that she'd hop over the beast, picking up Shiratama's right hand and examining the burns closely. He was probably used to this by now but she hadn't seen it before, but she did notice how he never flinched from the pain it caused." I'm sorry about that. My indecision made you burn yourself. I never knew that was why you bandaged your hands, at least, until now." she'd say calmly before now turning her attention to his back, as he walked over to the backpack.

Shiratama was actually the only person she knew with techniques that were based upon combustion. He could use fire, maybe not as well as her, but he was able to deflect the beast with that attack alone, even though he hurt himself in the process. Maybe she'd be able to teach him how to wield it in a safer manner. Hurting himself like that would eventually numb his body to it yet the damage would increase over time. Regardless, right before she turned to the two paths, Shiratama would speak, asking if she was thirsty, however that was all he said as he stopped in mid sentence. Looking at the magazine that fell, Hanadoki would walk over herself to see what it was exactly, only to see a half naked woman as Shiratama pulled the book to his chest. "Oh my...." she'd say with a pause, slightly shocked that Hiker Dan would have carried such a thing but this time, surprisingly, she would be the one to crack a joke this time. "You know, if you wanted to stare at me so hard, you can always ask." she'd say, with a wink, as she took the letter from him, still standing close by.

Looking over the letter he handed her, Hanadoki would project her thoughts for Shiratama to hear. "Hiker Dan had been away for quite some time....." she'd pause before continuing. "For him to be in this area where the tremors most active is something else to think of. His bags were left at a specific spot, but even though we had hiking gear, there hasn't been any type of mountain or wall to climb. Another note, what is this business specifically, and he said Iksu, and Hayabiru were the last places." she'd pause again waiting for him to catch up mentally, just in case. "We lost Hiruko in Iksu, so for us to find Dan's item's here, he is either dead OR further in this cave without his items, which seem to be in perfect condition." she'd force Hiruko's name to come from her mouth in this moment, but it wasn't something that she took lightly nor happily. Regathering herself mentally, she would focus in on the last line. "Cash in on filming.......Where is the camera or does he even have one here. Otherwise it could also be with him. Though, it sounded like he was remorseful for missing out too on some things, though we did pick up the majority."

As she went to take a sip of the drink, he wasn't going to drink but she trusts his judgement on that being too much for one to handle. Looking at the can, she would would simply guess at it, considering for meeting they had things provided, so this also foe the regiment cells. Dodging to Shiratama's side as her speak his drink out, she'd sigh, I'm fine. she'd say, eternally grateful, that it had no spilled on her in the one movement. "I'm quite alright. A little bruises never hurt anyway. Though, you're right, its time to be an end to these tremors." Looking at the two paths, Hanadoki always believed in taking the road less traveled but at the same time, she didn't want to miss anything. If it was just these two, they would need to actually stop the tremors. There was no leaving the problem as they had been sent to complete it, and generally the most dangerous or unlikely path was the one that held their enemies.

"I say we go right, but if we do, we'll need to much more careful and on guard. It's also possible Dan went left but if he was so keen on adventuring, he ould surey take the path least traveled. A beast came from this path, and again Hiker Dan is either dead, or somewhere in the cave as well. We may get to find out, unless...." she paused for a second looking at the beast o the floor. "Unless, these things ate him. They don't look like normal animals either. I have heard of strange beasts but this takes the cake. It's not normal so we're probably looking at a mixture of something. It's muscles showed great strength we have no seen in ages from animals , not to mention it was completely muscle. Every type of animal has some fat o it's body, and it had adapted to the darkness, with no eyes. That could either be its hearing, or sensory possible. I don't know beats but i will say im sure adaptations happen, this one just isn't likely."

OOC: I was dead tired when i posted this so sorry if something is whacked up

As the children had their fun by looking at dirty magazines and trying beer, they chose the path to their right. In doing so they would increasingly hear the sound of running water. The path before them increasingly became brighter and brighter. So much so that there would temporarily be no need for flashlights. Before long they would reach the end of the tunnel only to find a stream of clear water flowing, and a beautiful waterfall crashing in the background. The water was indeed drinkable, and with the survival training they received from their academy days, they would have known this.

After enduring perhaps the hardest mission of their lives thus far, they would have undoubtedly been parched. There was no telling when they would next be able to drink, unless they were contented with Hiker Dan's beverages. In this stream they would find alleviation from their first, which would have served as good motivation to take a drink. The duo would use the time to relax and unwind, tending to any wounds they possibly had. Hiker Dan's pouch also had light first aid equipment. Bandages, gauze, alcohol swabs, and things of those sort which they could use.

As they 'took five', the duo would take greater notice of their surroundings. Scattered all around the chamber, there seemed to be man sized holes. They were quite the unique, and strange to look at. One could not tell if it were some strange phenomena due to weathering, or something man-made. Off in the distance, across the stream they would see a small light flickering on and off. It was undoubtedly something electronic!

When the duo approached the light, they would discover it was the ever elusive camera of non other than Hiker Dan! Its screen had been cracked, but it was likely functioning. With a bit of tinkering, they would finally get the film to play! At first, the volume had been on it's max, sending an annoying screech throughout the chamber before one of them reduced the volume. Th moving image and audio revealed a hefty man, running for his life while there were 5 of the kind of beasts they fought earlier! The camera then fell dropped from his hands and rolled to their exact position....but there was no telling what occurred afterwards.

Just as the video came to an end, there was another massive rumbling! Isicles of stone fell from the ceiling, most of which were easy to dodge for the shinobi. However, what they wouldn't expect was another monster emerging from one of the many holes coming straight for them! Even with some of it's body in the hole, it began to circle them. Two more monsters of similar stature followed suit!

INFO ON THE BEAST

Name:???
Rank: ???
Immense, tunneling worms. Their heads are a large, four-sectioned beak, with two main jaws for crushing and slicing and two hook-shaped jaws for holding prey. Within this beak are three tongue-like structures similar to large, orange eels with toothy mouths and no eyes. The Graboid itself has no eyes, and it's long, cylindrical body is covered in horn-like spines as large as a man's forearm. They are thirty to fifty feet long and can dig as fast as thirty miles per hour. These monsters are very smart and are capable of learning and adapting. They are very sensitive to even the slightest vibrations, even speaking in a normal tone of voice is enough to attract one.
Abilities: Extreme sensitivity to sound and vibration, extreme movement speed, extremely powerful jaws and tentacles, near-human intelligence.
