Modding is so troublesome
But I guess I’ll do it.

The Sunagakure chuunin exams were at hand and the first stage was about to commence. Seeing as there would be no spectators for this part two Jounin of the village overlooking it gathered up the participants of the exams at the crack of dawn. The room all the genin would be gathered at was rather non-descript with a small podium at one side where the to older ninja were standing and facing all the chuunin hopefuls.

Despite standing at almost six feet the male of the two jounin didn’t look that intimidating at first glance due to having most of his face hidden by hair and his body covered by a worn brown cloak. Still his voice rumbled out with an edge that more made up for his appearance.

"Listen up you wastes of water for the duration of this part of the exams or till you die you will be my responsibility. Now as you know you have come here to try and advance up the ranks, do your village proud and a whole load of other propaganda you were feed in you baby minds till now.”

"The lives you have lead until now have been easy, so your resolve had never been tested nor have you had the need to try and bear the responsibility that comes with being chuunin. I won’t be wasting any more spit to try and explain what all that entails but instead I’ll explain what your first obstacle would be. Information, deduction, extraction all important parts of certain types of mission and something all shinobi need to have an inkling of.

"You’ll be placed in a room with the goal of escape within a certain time limit should you succeed you will find yourself at an advantage and should you fail…well.” Taking a moment for a razor-sharp grin to sprout on his face and a few ominous chuckles to escape him the jounin quickly continued speaking "Oh did I tell you that the exams has already started, and all this speech was for the odorless gas that’s been pumping into to room to put you all under. Considers this your first lesson Ta-ta.

As of on cue all the gathered genin would black out allowing for the examiners and their helpers to do their work to split up the examinees in groups and transport them to the chambers where the first task would take place.

The participants of group F-7 would find themselves waking up in a spacious room that besides a small pedestal in the center with a scroll on top of it and four doors at each wall was completely empty. Though that didn’t mean that it wasn’t decorated, and the walls and doors were littered with numerous murals depicting a different story on each.

A merchant getting lost in the desert and only surviving due to finding an oasis to drink its water only for patrolling shinobi to find his corpse decomposing next to a rock with sand trailing down his chin was painted on the south wall.

A merchant getting lost in the desert and only surviving due to finding an oasis to rest and recover for the night against a tree only for patrolling shinobi to find his corpse decomposing despite having no apparent injuries on him was depicted on the north wall.

A merchant getting lost in the desert and only surviving due to finding a cave to escape the sand storm coming only for dispatched shinobi to find his naked corpse decomposing propped on the red wall was engraved on the east wall.

A merchant getting lost in the desert and only surviving due to finding a cave to escape the sand storm coming only for dispatched shinobi to find his corpse decomposing next to tools he made himself and a wall engraved with pleadings of salvation was painted on the west wall.

Should the scroll on the pedestal be opened the following would be written on it "It reflects the light and blinds the sight but only if you capture it with your eyes. Should it do the whistle in the wind will whisper to you.”

The genin in the room after wakening up would be able to notice after a bit of time the whole chamber is gradually increasing in temperature.

I really can't remember if I'm insane or insomniac

Remind me to install a gas mask with this new equipment, Mikazuki, or Squeakers, as she was going to be known this time around, thought. The genin clad in a yellow raincoat got up from where she'd been collapsed on the ground, moments after she'd come to. There was no time to waste, after all. This was a timed test.
Information. Deduction. Extraction. Those were the hints I received. They will be important to figuring out any clues. She scanned her surroundings, looking at the other genin as they began to wake up after their transfer to this new prison. There were murals about each wall, and a podium in the center which held a scroll. Squeakers was cautious approaching, knowing it could be a trap and that there could easily be an invisible obstacle protecting the item. However, as she plucked the scroll from its place, nothing seemed to be triggered. Squeakers relaxed. "It reflects the light and blinds the sight, but only if you capture it with your eyes," she read aloud so anyone else waking up could listen. "Should it do, the whistle in the wind will whisper to you." It reflects the light and blinds the sight? She gazed back at the murals and set the scroll down where it belonged so anyone else could pick it up and read if they wished. These are all murals depicting death by mirage. Mirages are when a person is dehydrated and hallucinating. Not necessarily something to do with the sand blowing in the desert, so even though sand when heated makes glass, and glass reflects things, and also a sandstorm can blind you and especially so if any gets in your eyes, but... I don't know what that would have to do with any of these murals. I don't know how that would point out which one is the correct door.
One drank sand instead of water. Nothing reflecting light or blinding the sight there. Nothing captured in the eyes.
One found an oasis and rested. There's no reflecting light, but he closed his eyes to rest. That shouldn't count.
One found protection in a cave. He was found without even the protection of his clothing. Probably robbed.
One found a cave and made tools for himself. He probably lived the longest. He prayed for salvation to a god, but died eventually nonetheless.
None of these are particularly obvious. But... "We have to escape. That tells me that if we choose the wrong door, we might unleash something into this room that quickens our fate or brings potential death. We should be careful." She looked back to the others. Her voice was deeper than usual. More masculine sounding, though with an edge and odd flavor to it. "I think if we open the correct one we'll hear a whistling sound on the 'wind', possibly, unless someone figured a different meaning for that part of the passage?" She shrugged, before pointing. "As for the rest, I have two deductions. It could be an analogy for a deity. 'The light' being the god, and the follower blindly following. But my thoughts are that it's more probably just the tools or weapons that that man," she pointed to the west wall's mural, "had made. The flat side of a blade can reflect light easily--blinding opponents if you get it into their eyes with the right angle." She knew from experience. "So my guess is the correct door is the one placed on the west wall. After all, that mural is the only one that has tools with it. If the odd message thing depicts the correct door, correlating to a specific mural, my guess is it'd be that one. Unless anyone else has any other ideas or thoughts and wishes to enlighten me otherwise?"
She wasn't positive, but it was her best bet. It could just be that they had to disregard the odd message and strike the doors with wind jutsu, since it did mention the whispering of the wind, but that would take away from the entire process of "deduction" and "extraction". It wasn't just brashly attacking each door. And, if Squeakers was correct, then guessing the wrong door could lead to serious consequences so they really did have to use their brains to make the best choice. They could probably open all the doors--since if all but the correct door were locked there would be no challenge--and opening the wrong one had to be bad. Maybe it would unleash a cage of bees or something. And although she was fairly confident in her deductive skills, Squeakers wanted to include everyone else, as well. It was quite possible one of them could see something she missed, and she didn't want to assume she was right.
The consequences would likely be dire if she were wrong.
And she didn't want to make that kind of mistake again.

I HAVE A FRIEND
a moth named snowflake
VERY BAD THINGS
such horrible things
Akio was a very keen individual, at least he tried to be with his limited grasp of reality. He didn't quite feel comfortable about the room full of strangers, but likely that number would be cut in half. His listening to the proctor was hard to keep focus, as he swore something else seemed to be off about the room. He felt as though he were being suffocated and had to calm his mind, he'd pause not taking a breath and going entirely still. He was waiting for this stupid meeting to be over, so he could coordinate with his teammate. 'Odorless Gas', he'd hear those words and in quite the hurry go to squat. There'd certainly be mixed confusion about the announcement, but Akio already had a good thought on what would happen. In the corner of his eye he'd see a shinobi falling, he'd be unconscious before the hit the ground.

Waking up in a new room was quite the uncomfortable feeling. He'd wake up to a room, it was smaller than the first room. Much more decorated, with four doors and a pillar in the center of the room. The pillar had a scroll and the walls leading to the doors all had murals. They were supposed to escape this room? His vision was blurry coming back and at first his mind would play tricks on him. He'd see his entrails out and then notice everyone else in the room was shred. Blood littered seemingly every inch of the room, a panicked sweat would come about him as he'd take deep breaths. 'No more gas please.' He'd think to himself.

As his tired breaths brought the room to full light, the blood would slowly shrink back into the shinobi around him. Each would begin to rise at their own rate, it was a girl from Amegakure who'd get up first. He'd move to a sitting position, as she'd seem to immediately go to work. He liked the hustle, but worried about this being an event with limited winners. There was no statement to such though, so he'd pray this was a team exercise. "Explore." He'd tell his snowflakes, as chakra hatched cocoons and moths left his cloak. Five would flutter about and begin to debrief Akio, each one in a childlike mentality explaining the depiction on the wall.

Standing up he'd straighten his attire and look to the speaker. She'd read the message upon the scroll, then proceed to after some thought explain her logic on how to escape. Well she wasn't going to be the selfish one who only wanted victory for herself. That could be abused later. "The Oasis is a mirage... But so is the assumption a deity will save us. If they're real they're likely not really going to help us mortals. I'd say the correct route is the west wall, it's the only one where the merchants end is truly different." Akio would state as he'd approach the west wall. It's red color was quite alluring and to be honest it was his favorite color.

None of them knew the right direction or the actual answer. Everything would likely be a guess. There wasn't even the slightest clue in the boys mind what the scroll meant. He'd whistle at the red wall, as to test if a whistle might be the key. None had tried opening the doors, so they might all be locked after all. If nothing happened he'd then turn back from the wall to the room. "We're certainly limited on time, so I suggest we try opening one of these door quickly." His time assumption was based on words of the proctor as well as the idea the exams were watched. Somehow someone was evaluating them, so their boredom certainly would limit event length.

As Nohime Sabishi had listened to the proctor, she found herself falling unconscious, and when she awoke, she found herself in a room which seemed highly decorative. However, she was not alone. There were others in the room and she found herself hearing the contents of the scroll and she unlike the others had a very different thought process on how they should approach these door entrances. As the others talked about where they should go, Sabishi stepped forward and made herself known to the other Shinobi. "Mate...we need to consider some things. For one, it’s a possibility that none of these doors are the correct answer or that there may be ways to observe and find the door other than the images alone.” She narrowed her eyes as she observed the situation, finding each door leading to the death of the individual. She formed some brief handseals as she looked upon them all.

"In this case, in order to get out of here, we need to work together for the time being. Agreed?” If so, she mentally cast the Iwa Bunshin no Jutsu to create four clones of stone from the surrounding floor, surrounding herself at these comrades. "If I may suggest, I recommend we go to each door and observe if there’s a presence of wind, if there’s any sign which might show that it’s been tampered with. On top of this, if there’s any genjutsu specialists around us, please do attempt using Kai.” She was taking charge of the situation and she was trying to approach the situation from a very intelligent viewpoint. With that, each of her clones would travel to each end, to observe the doors and to see what were any notable observable characteristics. She hypothesized that according to the riddle, they were all caught in a room full of genjutsu illusions as it mentions that "if you capture it with your eyes.”

She assumed the time they had was short, and so, she figured this. She was brainstorming here, but she’d make her thoughts known. "As Shinobi, we need to be innovative, but I assume that for these doors, there is no right answer. It’s also quite possible that all of these doors are deathtraps and that we may need to make our own exit. We could destroy the ceiling and then go up that way perhaps to the next level.” She was naming all the possibilities, as just because the answers were set before them didn’t mean it was the best way. When going on a mission, there was always the chance of death, and it could also mean that all of the choices are to death. After all, they were about to choose from doors which would lead to a person’s death either way. With that, she crossed her hands into the ram sign to infuse some chakra within herself while they could throw in their own thoughts. That was all. "My name is Nohime Sabishi...what are yours? I'm a medical ninja from Iwagakure no Sato.”

Maybe it wasn't the time for friendly banter, but she figured that they could talk as they all figured out a methodic way of getting things done. Sabishi on the other hand was thinking breaking through the ceiling wasn't a bad idea. After all, the only requirement they had was to leave this room, there was no mention of HOW they had to leave it.

I CAN'T FIND

"Dammit”

A frustrated growl would groan through the air as a particular shinobi with red hair punched the floor. Hard. Floor giving beneath her fist, she’d stand to her feet with a grunt and less than pleased look to her. Hand that struck the floor would have snatched out in her ascent, grasping the javelin that was no doubt still at her side. Irritated. Beyond irritated. Who the fuck thought they should just drug genin out to start an exam? They could just lead them to a room!.

Before she knew it, some twerpy thing was reading from a… scroll? And not only that, but it was basically gibberish. Great. Something else to just shed light on the uselessness that was her mind. She wished she would have tuned her mind to a finer point like her mentor wanted. Whatever that meant. Except… Isamu found herself quickly growing tired of that sort of thing. This thing. This little thing in the weird getup. It just didn’t stop.

"Holy shit do you even shut up?”

The girl would ask in a quiet sort of shout, half exasperated at the length of which the girl spoke and have irritated. Did she just have to waste time with her rambling? The boy wouldn’t as much. And he agreed. The best part being him saying they had to act. Spinning the javelin in her hand, a simple turn just within her closed fist, she’d look to the last one. Small. And… as annoying as the first. She didn’t shut up either. But what was worse, this girl wanted to wait.

Angrier now, she’d push past any of them, and these ridiculous clones, that stood in her way, heading towards the west wall to take a look at the dumb pictures.

"You’re a bunch of cheeky little cunts… I’m not sitting around.”

Tossing her weapon to her non dominant hand, right hand flying up and being brought down hard with a straightened hand. A chop smashing into the door of the west wall. If that didn’t blow it to rubble, the room would know a newly pissed off Kumo woman.

NAME: Tetsu choppu [Iron Chop]
RANK: C
CHAKRA USAGE: Low
CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu
ELEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION:
The user brings down it's hand into a chopping motion right onto the opponent, aiming for spots like the face, the joints, elbows, wrists and shoulders. The chop is strong enough to break bones and to damage muscles and tendons with a single blow. At greater levels, the Iron Chop can literally chop limbs off.

Divine Strength of Punishment
Specifically trained by one of the Akira that studied the Heavy Divine Punishment Taijutsu style, Isamu was tried, tested, and required to gain immense strength in order to fully utilize the taijutsu of her mentor. The training she undergone greatly increased her ability to throw items, punches, kicks, and lift weight, if she uses her body properly. While she is still training with the Akira, she has shown astounding progress to the point where there are times her strength exceeds the expectation of the Heavy style's outcome, providing more damaging results than normal.

The door would crack under the strength of the strike and as it felt apart it would reveal another chamber identical to the one the group found themselves in initially. The only difference would be that the moment the passage was opened the murals along the walls of the now exposed chamber would light up and a sudden rise of temperatures would happen. It would spread like a gust of wind and quickly make it apparent to the rest of the participants that their surroundings were now several times hotter almost like sitting under the scorching sun in the middle of the desert.

If the new chamber was to be explored the genin would find a replica of the scroll in the same place with the same text written on it. The walls would show the same murals in the same positions.

I really can't remember if I'm insane or insomniac

I'd challenge you to a battle of wits, but I'd rather not face an unarmed opponent, Squeakers thought, watching the red-head who angrily scolded and huffed around like a child having a tantrum. Our proctor literally told us how to get out of here. This is a test of intelligence and application of knowledge. Deduction. You're making no attempt at figuring anything out even when you were blessed with huge clues on how to succeed. Even if the others haven't voiced as much thought or analyzed as deeply, at least they tried. You're embarrassing whatever village you're from, he thought. And your insults suck, too.
This was a test. And it wasn't a written exam where they could show their work through writing. No. If Squeakers wanted to show his work on his thinking process, he'd have to speak aloud. If he was looking out for only himself of course he wouldn't talk so much. Once before he'd even scolded a teammate for speaking aloud and giving away information.
Squeakers was talking so much so that any observing proctors would know exactly what he was thinking, and how his mind was working. He was showing his work to figuring out the riddle. It was his way of trying to prove that he wasn't relying on someone else and that they should be rewarded for their wits. He was showing his worth, not living off of another person's.
He looked at the violet-haired shinobi girl as she voiced various different ideas. At least she was thinking outside the box, and coming up with more than one idea. Which was good. Squeakers almost would have praised such--as it's never good to rely only on one plan. Backup plans were a must.
    However...
"I don't think this is a genjutsu," Squeakers stated. He may not have been a specialist like the girl suggested, but they didn't need to know that. And, frankly, one of his sensei did train him pretty well in the art of genjutsu. How to recognize it, that was. How it worked. What it did. Then he analyzed and had come up with his own elaborate theories, which he'd tried relaying to his teammate--Sanosuke. Squeakers was no master and didn't know a single genjutsu himself, but he did know a bit about it. That's why his teacher had taught him kai. How to recognize a genjutsu, know how it works and why it's dangerous, and how to escape should he be ensnared in one. And... "Because of all of the allusions to illusions and mirages and such, you'd think that's what it had to be. But what about the riddle? 'Reflects the light'? 'Blinds the sight'? But only if you 'catch it in your eyes'? Genjutsu isn't always triggered through sight. And genjutsu does not reflect light. It doesn't reflect anything. It's messing with your mind to make you think you're seeing or feeling things you aren't, but it's not reflecting light from another source. And it doesn't always blind the sight, either. Blinding the sight is when a person can't see something that's there. Genjutsu is the opposite. It makes you see things that aren't there." He shrugged.
Besides, kai. Doesn't that only work for the person who cast it? If this were a genjutsu, even if the others figured it out, they wouldn't be able to escape which is an unfair challenge. That one genin girl suggested someone with kai use it. Which implies that she doesn't have it. Or if I were to cast kai would everyone escape? But I don't even think this is a genjutsu.
"Also I'm Pip Squeak," Squeakers introduced to Sabishi. The red-head would be ignored by him, and she probably wouldn't be listening to his conversation anyway. "But you can call me Squeakers."
He frowned a moment and tried to think some more.
The door was broken open suddenly by the red-headed girl, and Squeakers peered in to see another room of a perfect copy. No. This is wrong, Squeakers thought. I thought it would be that door. My comparison of the riddle and a tool was perfect. Flawless. It made perfect sense...
But then that would be the obvious mistake, wouldn't it?
"Maybe you were onto something..." he muttered to Sabishi.
He paused, and did not proceed to the next room even if the others did. From the gap in the open wall he could see it was the same, anyway. So he stayed back.
It's just like Sanosuke says. It's just like those other times. I'm taking this too literally--aren't I? I'm not the best with analogies so my example before was wrong. But taking it literally obviously isn't the right answer. The temperature was rising, and it was scorching hot. Under his layers, the genin's sweat tried to keep his body cool--but he had to hurry up. "The first ate sand and died. The second felt safe when he wasn't and died. The third couldn't get past a wall, and the fourth prayed to a god. I was probably assessing the tools too much. It's all one theme. There wasn't a correct door. We have to escape, he said. Choosing a correct door isn't escaping. But that's what it is--isn't it?" His mind was racing a hundred miles an hour. "I was close before but I was just looking in the wrong areas. It's an analogy for genjutsu. When you're trapped, you can see something that's not there. You can see food instead of sand. You can feel security when you're endangered or feel alarmed when nobody's nearby. You can try to run past a wall but even if there isn't one there--your mind will hold you back as though there were one. And lastly..." he paused, speaking to nobody in particular.
"You can scream and pray to a god, but they will not help you escape."
Squeakers had been speaking quietly and to himself. Murmuring so that it would be difficult for others to hear or understand. If I get this right, will only I escape, or will everyone else? I hope the former. At least that way the others can still have a chance to prove their worth on their own, not riding off of my suspicions. But since I was wrong about the west wall, this has to be it. There is nothing else that even comes close. Nothing else would make sense. And now it's painfully obvious. Damn, I'm such an idiot for not figuring it out sooner. Sabishi suggested someone else using kai, which implies she's not capable of it. If only those with kai can escape, hopefully she won't do too poorly. Hopefully they won't fail her if she can figure it out even if she's not capable of making the escape.
He quickly formed the handseal and listened for the wind.

NAME: Kai [Release]
RANK: C
CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low- High Depending on the rank of the genjutsu
CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu [General]
ELEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION:
Kai is a technique invented to counteract the targeting of Genjutsu, working by halting one's chakra flow with a hand seal before drastically increasing the rate of chakra flow within oneself, forcing the opposing chakra out of the body. This can also be used on another person by manually forcing a surge of chakra into their body through direct contact, breaking them of their mesmerized state. One's skill to break an illusion depends on their skill and understanding of Genjutsu, as some may prove too powerful to escape by conventional means.

I HAVE A FRIEND

VERY BAD THINGS
such horrible things
Akio couldn't quite believe the commotion of the room, it seemed almost everyone in the room had a shared idea of team work. A redhead seemed to be the only one who just wanted things done, she'd put forth the most physical effort in a minute. It'd however be exactly where Akio had asked and not at all where he'd found his attention. Prior to that though the Iwagakure shinobi would suggest the riddle referred to a genjutsu. If the challenge of this test was be good at genjutsu, he was definitely certain he had this rooms award for it. He didn't really need to know these people to judge that, he could maybe question raincoats specialization.

Better safe then sorry right? Akio without drawing much attention to himself would clap his hands, then gathering his chakra release it to expunge a genjutsu. It seemed everyone was still bleeding from their eyes and their echoing chatter still muttered endlessly. There'd be what they all seemed to speak, but there'd also be whispers among the group. Things unsaid only Akio would believe spoken. He might not of been the best test subject, but he'd look to the girl who proposed genjutsu. Reaching out he'd grasp her shoulder, then using his other hand concentrate his chakra. He'd repeat the jutsu which he tried on himself, he knew it's effects were greater on an 'ally'.

Iwagakure was supposedly his villages new friend, he did not have hard feelings towards the Kumo or Ame shinobi. Kumogakure housed one of the Yugao branches, they'd supposedly be more true to genjutsu than his branch. He believed in the genjutsu mentality. If no genjutsu was released from either of them, then Akio would let out a chuckle. "We're not in a genjutsu, the Yugao are experts in it." He'd state almost at the Kumogakure shinobi, a lame attempt at best to make another could be friend. He didn't like any of these people though, they were all gross skinned, sharp toothed and chattering evil. Kaiya should of been here.

Suddenly a voice would change, it wasn't a real change but a perception one. It'd seem one of the people in the room decided to mess with his head. That or they genuinely were as or more crazy than himself. "Pip Squeak?" His voice would heighten and his gaze would expand, he'd no longer her the voice the Amegakure shinobi projected. Instead he'd hear a squeaky voice like a cartoon mouse. They'd add that the title 'squeaker' was equally suitable, if not possibly preferred. Immediately the boy tried to look for confirmation. It seemed the Kumogakure shinobi wanted to hit up the east wall. A direction was a start and it was quite unclear what the Iwagakure shinobi would think of this title.

He wanted to believe this person didn't identify as squeaker, but he was certain he heard them and not imagined it. "Squeaker?! Bahahaha! That's not a name... oh my god and the voice." He'd slap his lips realizing the last part probably was his imagination. However he'd hardly have time to question the name further and stop himself from laughing. Soon a blast would come as a door was destroyed and heat would vacuum into the room. Then he'd realize he had his barrings wrong, it'd of been his advice to break down the door she'd taken down.

"Oops... I meant the east door..." Akio would state as he'd gulp deciding to throw his weight into the east door, he'd either quicken their demise or send them in the right direction. Whistling to the door didn't seem to do anything, so hopefully it wasn't the way the door was opened that caused the heat influx.

Sabishi had suggested something, and a redheaded girl from Kumo breaks down a door. She could feel the sudden burst of heat, and she couldn’t help but glare at this girl. What...the fuck. However, at least meeting the others wasn’t bad. Yet, there was the sudden drawn out heat as the room rapidly became warmer. Yet, when she looked into the other room, it was filled with utter copy and replica. "Kuso...we chose wrong.” With a deep sigh, assuming that this series of rooms, and or the heat itself wasn’t a genjutsu trigger, she’d wipe her forehead. However, just to prove further if this was a genjutsu or not, she’d briefly look to her clones of which were immune to such tactics. Assuming they were feeling it, then it would become painfully obvious they weren’t in such a sensation. Yet, Sabishi was not one to give up hope. She was a thinker.

"Mate! (Wait!) Before we do anything, let’s try to outsmart this exam as opposed to rush to our doom! I’ve come up with a plan that shouldn’t put us into any danger! Everyone...we need to attack the ceiling. Even if it fails, there’s no harm in trying such a thing.” She’d suggest this to the party, hopefully preventing someone from doing something brash (Akio). Then it occurred to her, she had a way of bypassing the walls themselves and investigating. She had to test something. "While you try the ceiling...let me try using a special jutsu to check something.” She’d look to the eastern door, and she’d perform a very brief set of seals, before she’d walk up to the wall and place her hand on it. She’d use the Iwagakure no Jutsu, a village hidden technique to phase through the stone and appear on the other side. Theoretically if the wall wasn’t broken, there’d be no new trigger, and she’d look to see how it was on the other wall. Also considering this was a village hidden technique, there’d be no way the proctors could have predicted it’s usage here in the sand. She’d look for any changes or something to show she made the right choice.

If not, she’d return and shake her head no. She’d observe the scroll and the rest of the wall, and also to see if there was heat radiating from the other regions. However, assuming that the room she had chosen was indeed the right path, she’d knock on the door she came through, letting them know that it was different, safe, and the right way. Normally, she’d try to screw over these people, but she chose not as she figured the first portion of the exam would not be the best to target people with as she might not be able to get support otherwise in later portions if they passed and she had made enemies. Otherwise, her plan was...Rock Solid [Badumtsh]. She was safe to observe the area thanks to her unique Iwagakure no Jutsu, and she’d also be able to hopefully rely on support from others. Akio was willing to use Kai for her, and Pip Squeak seemed at least willing to assist them. The third...well, she wouldn’t bother with her.

Now to see what would happen. After all, nothing was ever...Set in Stone [Badumtsh].

Name: Iwagakure - [Rock Hiding Technique]

MY WAY

It got hotter. Dammit… If it had been gradual, Isamu might not even have known. But being at the point of breaking through to the next room, she’d be the one most fully hit by the heatwave that was produced by briefly glowing murals.

Isamu walked in. She couldn’t stand those others any longer, she might as well look around herself. The one thing liked to gab too much. Some weird looking creature with mask and raincoat. Did it even know where it was? Kaze no Kuni? Ya know, desert land? With an aggravated huff, she blocked out the ones grating her nerves. Everyone thought they were so special when they could think so deeply. Well maybe they were… But Isamu would never admit it to them. Only Umeko knew that frustration…

Isamu didn’t care who these people were. She didn’t care how they got here. And she certainly didn’t care what they thought they were capable of. Even her ‘allies’ in Kumogakure she barely cared about. The Raikage had attempted to change that… So maybe he could fall within some sort of territory of care. But it was all so irritating now. So Isamu would… basically leave them. Looking about the new room. All the same murals. All the same things… she got more aggravated by the second. The heat likely didn’t help… Sweat beginning to form on her skin, even with her lack of clothing. The thicker female would take her javelin and… swing it at the pedestal in the second room. Crashing through it and meaning to slam it against the far wall. Letting the scroll flutter around wherever. Frustration relieved, she’d head back to that other room.

By now, she’d have missed most of the conversation. Unless people were all attacking the ceiling, Isamu would have merely come through the door, and then stepped to the side to lean back against the mural that failed them.

Modding is so troublesome
But I guess I’ll do it.

The efforts of some of the genin to escape a genjutsu would be in vain for there was no genjutsu cast on to them to begin with. Not restricted by the others the weight of the Yuki genin would result in the opening of the east door but this time there would be no radical increase of temperature following the action. Sometimes fortune did smile in the face of those few shinobi that were brave enough to call upon it.

In the now opened chamber they would be treated with a same outline of a room but the murals on the wall were different. Instead of depicting different stories they would expend on the one that had been on the east wall in the previous chamber. The door directly in front of them from the entrance would be etched with the image of the merchant holding a hand against his face blinded by the light reflected from the drawn sword of the bandit entering the cave.

Through the door would be a set of stairs that led up into another specious chamber of similar design as the previous one. Group F-7 would find once more a scroll placed in the middle of the room and the walls painted with murals only now telling completely new stories.

An artist locking away his greatest treasure in a room to keep it safe only to be found later by shinobi in the room laying on his bed dead with lipstick on head and a puncture in his neck was painted on the south wall.

An artist locking away his greatest treasure in a room to keep it safe only to be found later by shinobi on his bed starved to death was depicted on the north wall.

An artist locking away his greatest treasure in a room to keep it safe only to be found later by shinobi dead filling a glass with red from his neck was engraved on the east wall.

A artist locking away his greatest treasure in a room to keep it safe only to be found later by shinobi running away from the trees on the bed was painted on the west wall.

Should the scroll on the pedestal in the center be opened the following would be written on it "It scuttles on the walls leaving its mark for both those aware and unaware. The sight confusing as it’s undoing even masters can find it unmoving.”

OOC Note: Room temperature 40°C, 4 rotations left to escape.

I really can't remember if I'm insane or insomniac

It was... not a genjutsu. Darn, and I really thought I was onto something, Squeakers thought. I mean, it seems to make so much sense when you add all the evidence together... But, with the two shinobi using kai, it quickly became evident that his theory had been wrong. I guess that does make enough sense, though. I mean, it's like I thought earlier...  if that was the case, it would be completely unfair for those who don't have the escaping technique. They can't rely on the chance that someone who does have it will be willing to help another. But at least it's confirmed that this situation will be equal opportunity for everyone. Which is good.
The discovery of being incorrect a second time, however, would shortly be followed with the moth guy laughing at Squeaker's introduction. Though the raincoat-clad genin could hardly be offended. It was, after all, a humorous name for a more humorous character. Still, Squeakers would shrug. "Eh, what is a name anyway? Something people remember you by to refer to you as, right? You think you'd forget someone as strange as me with a name like the one I've got?" he chuckled. "My name's as legitimate as anyone else's." And he had been formally registered in the exams as "Pip Squeak". It wasn't the name he was given at birth, but that didn't mean it wasn't the name that belonged to him. Besides, he didn't like going by his given name on a day-to-day basis, anyway. Hence why he always requested to go by his nickname...
"Well the harm that could come from it is that the ceiling could collapse on us and crush us," Squeakers said in a blasé tone of voice. He shrugged. But since I'm all out of ideas, I'm happy to try anything else. Obviously nothing I'm doing is helping the situation. I've just been making things worse.
However, before they could even attempt the ceiling idea... it was revealed that the east door was in fact the correct choice. Under his mask, Squeakers raised an eyebrow in a bit of surprise. So one of the doors was actually a correct path, and we didn't have to be thinking outside the box by drilling the ground or exploding the ceilings, he mused. The boy stuck his hands in his pockets and complied to following anyone else into the new room, before speculating the new surroundings. I can admit to being wrong. I know I'm not perfect. And thankfully these are just chuunin exams. Not elite jounin exams. I'm granted the opportunity to learn from my mistakes, he thought. And it'd be stupid of me to move on and try using the same tactics. Last time, I tried thinking about things too metaphorically. And I tried analyzing things too deeply. My intellect is better than my toe-to-toe fighting skills I'd like to think, but it's been proven time and time again that my fatal flaw is thinking about things too deeply, or reading far more into things than I really ought to. By over-analyzing things, I miss the obvious solution right before me. Since I've already done that twice now, I need to try my best to simplify things and not make the same mistake in the future. I'll try. But... well, this is me I'm talking about.
Now, to focus on this room. The finished story. By seeing what the correct path was in the last room, we can use that pattern to figure out what might be the correct path in this room. Assuming they don't switch things up on us and we do actually have to attack the ceiling now. He crossed his arms and looked around. "Last time, it was the mural where the merchant interacted with other humans. I still felt most everything was pointing to illusions--or genjutsu--but what the other boy said was correct. It was ultimately different as it was the only one where he was obviously confronted with other people." Even one of his previous thoughts was that the man had been robbed. He still felt genjutsu or illusions was relevant in that mural as well, but, admittedly, it was the only one where a change had been committed to the corpse. "If we use this same thinking, then I'd like to think the solution would be the door on the south wall. On the north he died by starvation. East, it's implied he committed suicide--though it's possible he could have been murdered. The west one probably went insane and was seeing hallucinations. The south wall is the only one where there is evidence of interaction with another human being--the lipstick being concrete proof that someone was there. Plus puncture wounds aren't a typical method of suicide, while slitting your neck is." He turned to the others, his arms still crossed. "However, considering how much I was fucking up last time, please do speak up on your thoughts as well. I'm a terrible leader so just because I'm speaking up first doesn't mean you should listen to me or feel that anything I say is correct. I'd rather not get us all killed because of my mistakes--Yugao. You were correct the last time, so I think you should probably take lead. What are your thoughts on this puzzle? Does anyone else have any input? I'd love to hear what the rest of you are thinking." He paused, smiling under his mask, "Other than I talk too much and need to shut the hell up. I'm already aware."

I HAVE A FRIEND
a moth named snowflake
VERY BAD THINGS
such horrible things
Akio couldn't help hearing this squeaky person and just disbelieving them. They'd tell him this was their legit name, as serious as anyone else's. Their name clearly wasn't a normal name, he'd never heard anything close to it in his life. "Sure." He'd reply with a smile, he'd clearly disbelieve the stranger's name. He certainly didn't care enough about it to fight it, if there was a fill in he'd denounce this person as them. Some individual designed to play a genin, but really be a jounin in disguise. A possibility depending how long the maze would go on, he'd want out as quickly as possible.

This was likely a test of intelligence and potentially teamwork, he'd however not see a reason for them to work as a team. Other than the fact wrong decisions would lead to the room getting hotter. A fact that could of impeded the progress of the whole group, a punishment for making a move didn't always mean right move. The idea of Kai was an interesting one, but Akio was far to confident in his genjutsu prowess. They'd been knocked out clean, a shinobi without senses can't be hit by a genjutsu trigger. Further he'd never seen a genjutsu he couldn't break another free from. This wasn't his first chunnin exam after all, he had plenty of experience with genjutsu and allies.

He'd luckily after proving it wasn't genjutsu prove to the group there was a right way, albeit after accidentally muttering the wrong direction ."Hmph... I guess it was my fault for muttering the wrong direction. Hopefully this new destination and the decreasing room temperature's are signs of the right direction." Akio still couldn't admit to being right, he'd obviously have to face the criticism that he was trying to cover up his earlier mistake. Instead he'd admit to the mistake, but press onto the next room. Squeakers semi-leading the group, but Akio wasn't quite a loyal subject.

His moths would flutter into the room and immediately examine, then explain the murals to Akio. Squeakers did similarly, but Akio often struggled to keep attention on those around him. He'd instead notice this time the rain shinobi didn't want to open the scroll, they'd deduced the right way through more than the murals last time. The same should be spoken of this room. "I think we need to consider what the scroll says, a general pattern might be too easy." Akio would retort to what the rain shinobi spoke, as he'd pick up the scroll to read it a loud to everyone.

"It scuttles on the walls leaving its mark for both those aware and unaware. The sight confusing as it’s undoing even masters can find it unmoving." Akio would read it out and let anyone with immediate thoughts speak, he'd however think about the new riddle. He didn't understand the mural with tree's on the bed, but he'd agree the other two were likely suicide. He couldn't really tell the two apart other than one he gives up and another he waits out the end, a nod of determination leaving only the lipstick and tree murals as options. He sadly could rationalize both.

"Based on the riddle I agree with..." He'd pause look to Pip Squeak and to prevent further laughter would just smile and go on with the sentence as though he had spoken their name. "... I say this because there's a term for a woman who kills her lover or woman who lures one in with love to murder them, that's a black widow. Which is also a spider and spiders scuttle across walls, leave their mark with webs and bites and remain still when confronted by threats." He'd explain himself leaving room for people to rebuttal, as well as giving anyone time to consider his thoughts. If things were silent or people were uncertain he'd add.

"If I had to make a secondary guess, I'd pick the mural with the tree's. Vines kind of scuttle across walls and a tree doesn't technically move from the spot it grows. I'd say we push through that door and if it doesn't work, then go through the tree mural one." He'd point out the south wall to avoid verbal confusion, then point out the west wall in case tree was descriptive enough. If people agreed but failed to act, he'd push forward to open the south door.

It was fine that her theory that genjutsu plaguing them was incorrect. In fact one could say it was relief. However, before she could stop Akio, the door was broken into and it was in fact the right answer. She followed after the group and could feel the stifling heat. "Kuso…” She wished there was some water or something to cool them off right about now. However, as she stepped inside, she quickly acknowledged that the room was indeed different and yet all too similar. Nohime Sabishi paid close attention to others and she didn’t think now was the time to be talking about names when they were in around 100 some degrees of heat fahrenheit. The stairs they went up would reveal a depiction of art being locked away and a confusing riddle once more. What a tedious challenge.

Raising her head to the sky, she wiped her brow before considering Akio’s words as well as the riddle presented. Her clones were a waste...damn. Still, they’d follow along as you never could quite know when a clone would be useful. She had to ultimately lean towards the metaphorical spider being a lover. Though, she didn’t hear of many artists that got ladies. "Hrm...I’ll try a door...I’ll let you know that I find with a special jutsu of mine. It shouldn’t set off any alarms or raises in heat. If it does, then it should be isolated. If it’s the right room, I’ll knock. I personally believe it’s the Widow door.” Utilizing the Iwagakure no Jutsu with a few signs, she’d swiftly walk up to that stone wall before attempting to squeeze through it and reach a new location hopefully. She’d physically meld through the wall and appear through the other side thanks to this technique.

If she was successful and there seemed to be no immediate dangers, she’d investigate the matter and look for something different. If it was indeed a new room, she walked forward and knocked hard on the stone mural. She had went through the door with the lipstick on the head. The clones would in return draw their swords and break the door down with no problem with their numbers. If not, she’d eventually return, shake her head no, and then rub the back of her head. "Pfff...maybe breaking the ceiling wouldn’t be a half bad idea. Since we have stairs, I’m starting to imagine we’re climbing upward above ground or we were underground this whole time.” She had some pretty intelligent members to help her out, though she certainly believed that the widow door sounded like it made the most sense overall. She learned she couldn't think too abstract and that sometimes even with these incredible powers of theirs that they couldn't always manipulate the world to be the way that they wanted it.

Unfortunately, it seemed this was going to be quite the odd challenge.

I CAN'T FIND

MY WAY

Having entered back into the fray, Isamu would note that another door had been opened. A slight tensing of the female’s muscles prepared her for what may come. A heat wave? Weaponry? Jutsu? But nothing came. No danger was enacted. That obviously meant it was the right choice, right? To her it might as well have meant that. And thankfully, that was true. Following along with the others, maybe even taking slightly bit longer, the Kumo shinobi held no trust for the other three. Spinning her javelin with tension in her hand, just turning it within her palm, she’d look about and remain on edge. The mural within he new hall, stairs. She came after the other three and remained silent for the time being. They were all kind of irritating anyway…

Especially that damn raincoat one. Did it ever shut up? Even as they entered the room, looked around, saw what the scroll said…. Isamu had no idea. She would have been scratching at her head under any normal circumstances. And the masked raincoat just rambled on and on like it was its lifebreath. Damnit couldn’t it just keep its mouth closed?

"If you’re aware, then you’d put a sock in it.”

Grumbled the female, specifically looking away to prevent herself from further lashing out at the girl. As much as she talked, Isamu was convinced she was just an irritating little know it all. Not even a good one. Akira warned her of them. Talking forever like they knew how the earth spun. But in the end, couldn’t tell her how to blink. Hand tightening about her javelin, the thought of letting the squeaking thing know how to shut its mouth was aggravatingly amusing. But still, no action was taken against the girl.

The boy, the one that was dressed all pretty, he spoke too. He was the one who opened the scroll. He talked a lot, yet it was somehow softer. Still irritating, yet a bit calming. The female remained aggravated, but said nothing more. It wasn’t until the one that had summoned all those clones would open its mouth. Something about her jutsu and sneaking through to the other side.

"Press through and we’ll reach the end. I’ll trust the pretty boy’s judgement. I’m not waiting around for tricks to be played.”

Door with the lipstick and puncture would be shoved open if Akio had at all hesitated due to the Iwa shinobi’s actions. She could get shoved right through the room by the force for all Isamu cared. All these tricks and games and words… Just have this be done already. Figure out the door, go through it. If it was wrong, try again. Sweat climbing to the skin of the girl, she wasn’t going to waste time. And if someone wanted to stop her, they could fuckin’ try. Strong body, strong swing, strong skills with her javelin. She’d tear apart anyone who wanted to get in her way.
