Religion System Rules

Overview

While nearly everyone "knows" that the gods have always been part of the world, the actual truth of the matter is that these "gods" only came into existence shortly after the nine bijuu were created. These entities, now known as gods were far more numerous than the bijuu, but less powerful overall. These entities were not made by the Sage of the Six Paths or any other human however, but were simply made by nature as a balance for the nine bijuu. As a balance these gods protected those they could from the wrath of the bijuu and it is largely to them that humanity owes its existence.

Where the bijuu are condensed masses of chakra, the god entities are thin and it was the act of making temples that helped to solve this problem. By building an enclosed space, the spirits were able to pull into the area and more easily concentrate their powers. At first these entities usually pushed back the bijuu their selves, but after awhile this proved too taxing and eventually a practice rose.

Humans would offer their prayers and meditate towards their god, these prayers in fact were a means of these chakra entities siphoning small amounts of chakra from their followers. In return for this the entities would place a small piece of their selves within followers which in turn would allow them to utilize fairly amazing abilities.

As time would progress these god like entities formed personalities that were more and more different from their brothers and sisters. Eventually they formed codes of conduct that they asked their followers to obey and to enforce in some situations. It is from here that true religion formed.

These entities, made by nature generally disliked mankind utilizing ninjutsu or genjutsu; seeing their use of chakra as unnatural. In some instances, such as the god Jashin; he had no problem with it being against nature, but became infuriated when one of his chosen chose to use these abilities over his gifts.

It is instances like these when one of these entities becomes angered with one of their followers that the entity might take away the abilities they gave to the follower. Such an act could happen for many reasons, ranging from using ninjutsu to simply breaking one of the laws in their religion.

While next to no one knows the truth about these beings, such information is irrelevant. The only fact that matters in the present is that these entities, these gods are capable of giving very powerful gifts to their followers, but as always; such gifts come at a price and while these prices range when it comes to codes of conduct two prices are constant: A follower may not use forbidden techniques (such as ninjutsu, genjutsu or standard fuuinjutsu.) and the follower must offer up part of their own chakra to these deities when required.

Core Rules

1.) All gods dislike ninjutsu, genjutsu and standard fuuinjutsu. The use of it will cause the god to revoke their gifts to their followers. While this can be for days, weeks or months, from an OOC perspective it will be at least for the remainder of a thread. Some fuuinjutsu may be allowed in the religion abilities however, such as symbols used in rituals (like the Jashin symbol) or potentially simple sutras.

2.) All gods put a slight drain on their followers chakra reserves once a day. While it is not enough to fatigue or harm the follower, it will leave them with less chakra reserves than most shinobi; although due to the follower not having to utilize jutsu this should be unimportant.

3.) Any religion created must be signed off by two staff (one of which must be an admin) and the ruler of a village if it is based in that village. (Which most religions, if not all will be.)

4.) All religions created must have at least three additonal laws on top of the daily prayers (chakra drain) and ban on ninjutsu/genjutsu. These religious laws are absolute and breaking them will mean the character/follower will lose the abilities granted by their religion for a twenty-four hour period. Please bare in mind that a religion's laws & ideology are two separate matters. While the laws of the religion are absolute, the ideology could be considered the guidelines or code of conduct the god/heads of the religion ask of the followers. An example of this might be to abstain alcohol even though the intake of such would not take one's abilities, it is expected for the follower to not partake.

5.) Jashinism will be allowed on the site under the religion system. However, I will be registering the religion and placing additional restrictions in Jashin's code of conduct to help ensure the incredible ability is fair. It should be known that if someone wants the Jashinism ability, then just about the only thing they'll get is the Jashinism ability.

6.) While these entities are constructed purely of chakra like the bijuu, they will not be allowed to be made into pseudo-jinchuuriki. While this may be done at some point, it is HIGHLY unlikely.

7.) All religion apps must have a symbol to represent the religion just like clans or organizations. This is in support of the wikia that the site will have as well as to add to the lore of the site overall.

8.) No character will be allowed to hold the power of more than one religion at this time.

9.) The abilities granted by a religion should connect with one another under some specific theme.

10.) The abilities granted by a religion should not be a blatant rip off of a clans abilities.

11.) Each religion will only have one god within it. While this is not to push a monotheistic view on anyone, it is the rule to prevent multiple gods from giving dozens of abilities in a single religion.

12.) No religion should have an ability which instantly kills/controls an enemy. In this regard Jashinism requires blood before they can utilize their ability for an immediate kill. Additionally, any other abilities of such a powerful magnitude will also need a set up and restrictions such as that of the Jashinism ability.

13.) While the bijuu are chakra constructs like these various "gods", they are unable to draw power from followers as these gods do. Essentially, the Ichibi would never be able to get stronger than it is unlike these gods.
